Thought I'd make a thread for people to discuss Animal Crossing games, since a new one is coming out soon on Nintendo Switch.

Animal Crossing New Horizons:

Animal Crossing is one of the few games that genuinely made me relaxed and feel good while playing it.
I'm quite hyped for New Horizon, as it seems to have LOTS of improvements.

Now we have more control over the landscape, which gives lots of freedom, close to games like The SIMS.
And that 8 player co-op makes the game legit feels like an MMO, which is awesome.

So far I'm loving New Horizons! No complaints as of yet except my god-awfully ugly villagers.

It's just a "chill-out" kinda game; fishing, finding fossils, catching bugs, paying off a crippling debt.
Nothing to do but do.

It's okay!
Years ago, Katsuya Eguchi, the creator, had to move out from his hometown to another city to work for Nintendo.
He had a very hard time making new friends, and being far away from his family made him extremely lonely.

So that experience inspired him to make this game--a game based on building community & making friends.
That's why the premise of this game is: you move to a new town, befriend cute animals, participate in low-stress activities to build the town (catch bugs, pick up fruits, dig up fossils, add facilities, etc).

That kind of experience is certainly not for everyone. I personally use this game as a cozy place to escape to. It's my virtual home.
No pressure, no "game over", and the game just let me do whatever I want, whenever I want with a clear sense of progression.

Between this game and the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, I ended up getting the latter, but I'm still pretty excited to get into this game once I can afford it.

bit the bullet and bought myself a copy. was only like 50 bucks at walmart so feck it. so far so good. just picking weeds and shaking trees :datea:

'Fluvile', not even Fluville like intended. Fluvile the home of Covid-19.
That's on our lite though to be fair.

On the switch I prefer to play it's 'Roam' thankfully, which is better than Fluvile.
