They did a great job showing how the soviet state and the KGP tried so hard to keep the catastrophie hidden.

I liked the show. An epic depiction of a catastrophe that could have affected the entire planet if not for tens of thousands of those brave people which sacrificed their health/lives in order to minimalize the damage caused by the core reactor explosion.

We all knew the incident of Chernobyl, but no one knew how it began and what did cost humanity to resolve. We never thought of the consequences that were going to happen if the people who intervened didn’t intervene at that time.

A mini Series proved better than many long series.

Planned to visit belarus , ukraine , russia.

I watched Chernobyl documentry when my dad shown it to me years ago. He was fascinated with soviets .

Would recommend watching this series very realistic . The events all are true and there is still nuclear radiation in that place.

One of the few reason soviet collapsed after gorbachev implemented perestroika.

It was soviet blunder there was documentry after soviet downfall . My dad had that record.

It was complete mishap also the soviets tried to close the news after the chernobyl incident happened it led to mistrust in satellite states especiqlly in ukraine .

Ukraine still hates russia for all soviets did. Lot of things are not officially said because almost real reason of failed power plant was never told to public.

Your dad seems quite a knowledgeable person.
I don’t really know much about the incident since I was born in 1999, ten years after the catastrophe, and when I asked my parents, they said they didn’t know much too cuz the past regime didn’t approve global new channels, there was only one channel on the TV praising the old regime.

Nobody knew what happened inside soviet untill 1989 when gorbachev introduced glasnost to open up soviets to the world.

My dad knows this because he met few of soviet pilots they told him sort of ussr was. People have mixed feeling about.

They are in awe of it but wont like to see it comeback.

HBO really did a good job on this one. It's chilling to think how the incompetence of some people in one corner of the earth could significantly affect the entire planet.

This was a fantastic show. Mostly because of how detailed it was. No BS drama, ot was a little slow for a couple of episodes but good nonetheless.

It was so good my ex and I bonded so well over it even after break up.

My Grandad was in Germany when Chernobyl exploded. He recalls there was so much confusion as to what happened and how dangerous it was for weeks. Each news announcement contradictory to another. Sometimes saying radiation level is safe and sometimes saying it's dangerously high. Most people had no idea the explosion happened until quite a while later.

My Grandad told me about this when the scene with the German robot was on. He mentioned that this could be the reason for so much confusion as the Soviets gave wrong radiation level data to the Germans.
