Fron Island is home to Marine Base G-F, which is a base used to train up and coming marine rookies with promising potential. They are guided in their training by Vice Admiral Prodi, a veteran marine and old friend of the legendary Monkey D. Garp.

In the middle of the night, a single small boat rows quietly near the shores of Fron Island, a training grounds for marine rookies. Less than 72 hours before the Sovereign War would begin, an order came from the Grim Reaper herself. One of the many orders that Akira is made to do for his punishment in Whole Cake Island. This time, the order is rather simple, especially compared to his later more prominent ones – take out the marine base stationed on this island. A decent strategy, eliminating potential rookies would weaken the future of World Government, and not only that they would lose considerable resources setting up another Marine Base in the New World, especially one that facilitate training of upcoming marines. It is an order with little downsides, generally speaking.

Upon this small boat, Akira has long donned his raid suit, one with a dreadful appearance. With Oceanus docked pretty far away only to send a small personal boat for the boy to conduct the night mission against the World Government. While the marine base can be considered well-guarded, the boy took the approach from the back, making use of the forested areas on the cliff side would likely make it harder to notice from a distance. Although the boy didn’t necessarily care if he is spotted, for the objectives of the mission would remain the same regardless. But it would better if he could be within sight of the base atop the island plateau before being found out.

Even from a distance, if there are any guards that are patrolling on the forest that looked out to the sea, all from the horizons they could see is a smoky dark figure standing on a small boat slowly approaching the island within the night.

Tonight is an ominous night.

Less than 72 hours were on the clock before the raid would happen. A massive militarized offense that requested nearly the whole force the marines could muster. Even Fron Island was not spared from this duty. But instead of an active role they were ordered to remain behind, opting to use them as emergency reinforcements. Because of this Akira would notice that from the back not a lot of marines were patrolling the woods. But if he reached the outskirts of the forest he'd see that security was on its highest alert. Towers were put along side the edge of the forest with large lamps scanning the portion where forest became road.

Each lamp's deadzone taken by a nearby one, the window between them ridiculously small. It'd take a swift human to get through that window without getting seen. Within the building itself Akira, with a passive perception would feel 300 marines running about give or take. Each with various levels of strength and power, a more thorough reading would reveal more. If the marine was proficient in that field of mantra.

For now, the island awaited Akira's first set of moves.

The boy traversed through Fron Island from the back of the island, taking the ‘stealthier’ approach into the island centre where the Marines are situated. From the seas, when the boat has become close enough for Akira to simply leap from his boat and onto a tree within the forest. Within minutes, the speed of the Shadow allowed him to reach the other side of the forest where the clearing is – though with the lamp lights set up by the tower would shine bright enough even from a distance that one could be blinded that would prompt the boy to slow down and observe within the forest. Patrols are scarce as far as the forest is concerned, perhaps the open area of the Marine base allowed them to only concentrate on the base itself, for their incredible security means getting past will not be easy, in terms of stealth that is.

But the Shadow, despite his given epithet though wildly unknown to all but the Spada Pirates themselves – stealth is not Akira’s strong suit. He would attack straight on, but he would not desire to be surrounded by Marines. One of the more dangerous things about dealing with World Government and Marines is their vast resources – and in particular, Kairoseki.

“….”

The boy swerve from his original route, suddenly taking the path towards the overlooking elevated cliff that towers even the Marine base, it should give him a better vantage point. If there are any marines still patrolling on the way up the elevated cliff, Akira is able to pretty much stealthily kill them off, using Haki to sense any patrols on his way up. The boy in the raid suit is dark enough, even with the black smoke constantly emitting – the darkness provides a veil of obfuscation that will kill the simple marines with just simple swings of Twilight’s Edge before they would even realize what is happening.

Once Akira has reached the top of the island forestry, where the cliffs would overlook the Marine Base. Sheathing Twilight’s Edge into a holster, Akira tapped a button on his raid suit, mechanisms whirring as the gauntlets and greaves of the raid suit retracts upwards, providing breathing space to Akira’s legs and arms. The boy would start to transform quickly, immediately turning into his Full Hybrid Form as large wings and talons replace his arms and feet respectively. Without further ado, the boy leapt from the cliffs down onto the Marine Base.

His target: The roof of the large Marine building. As if a large bat-like creature not just mostly in black but in the veil of the night would descend upon the Marines. It did not matter if the Marines were quickly alerted to his presence, for once he reached the roof of the building, a mass mobilization of marines would find it incredibly difficult to surround the Shadow, especially if the marines care about maintaining infrastructure of their base as Akira is more than likely to fight indoors into the base itself.

Akira's decision to take to the skies and circumvent the watch towers was an intelligent ploy from the young warrior. Gliding through the air, moving between rays of light he'd avoid being caught for the time being. So far this infiltration went smoothly, far too smoothly one might say. At the top of this marine building Akira might find some vents and air ducts but to where they'd lead would be a mystery for the young boy.

Meanwhile, within the marine base, privates and officers were moving all over the place. Except for two individuals who took refuge in a wide-spanning office. The office of the man in charge no doubt. For it was Vice-Admiral Prodi and Captain Grount who had a short meeting beyond the chaos.

"So, what's the situation?" - Grount asked, anxiety settling within the young man.

"The men are quite anxious but that's to be expected. We don't know when or even if we'll get drafted into the war."
"Yes yes...understandable. I wouldn't worry too much about it." The Admiral said, cleaning his desk of papers and moving them into a drawer nearby.
"So, I've heard we'll getting some backup from HQ?"

The question took back Grount. Shouldn't he be the one to know this type of information? The young man thought to himself but with a reluctant sigh he went along with the Admiral's apparent lack of ambition.

"We've been through this, they're sending someone from the disbanded marine group called Foxhound. It used to be Vice-Admiral Kallavan's unit"
"Oh, that little rascal ey. I wonder what happened to him, he was supposed to be this tough macho fellow."
"No clue sir, rumours are wild surrounding his whereabouts. But we shouldn't dwell on it. " Grount said, secretly wishing he was a part of that unit.

A sudden knock on the door would alert the two men to the door. Which would open up without either of them acknowledging the party to enter. A bewildered female private would fall through the door, stumbling over her feet.

"I'm sorry sir, he was insistent on getting here immediately!"

The two men would scan their eyes upward, noticing a taller man enter the room. With 3 swords on his hip, he'd move in nonchalantly doing his best to step over the young woman on the ground.

"The fuck you talking about buddy?!"
"Explain yourself, newbie."

"Utter fools to not be able to sense the screaming terror that is now currently at your rooftop. I thought they trained you in mantra?" Kanda said right to the point and Prodi's face of slight anger quickly shifted into complete worry. For only now did he detect the massive presence up above. How anyone with haki could ignore it still baffled Kanda.

"Fuck, he's right. Captain, sound the alarm and man the stations!"

Back to Akira only after a few minutes on the rooftop or wherever he was, he'd hear the sirens and numerous alarms of the base going off.

They were aware of his presence right now.

Having little trouble getting atop the building’s roof, the boy stealthily oversees the courtyard which hosted a battalion of marines. But it would not take long before the sounds of sirens and alarms went off, forcing him to back off from the courtyard view and back closer to the centre of the roof. He wasn’t hoping to assassinate the marines quietly either way, as such there is no need to worry about being found out. The use of Haki would eventually snuff him out. He has already gotten to his objective without trouble so far, thus now would be the time to begin his mission in earnest. Using his own Haki, Akira sensed a couple of powerful beings within the building itself, alongside the hundreds of soldiers now scrambling to find Akira. The boy did not panic, instead he transforms himself once more, this time turning from his Full Hybrid form into his True Hybrid form, allowing him use of his sword alongside his Zoan. A button is pressed once more, this time the gauntlets reverts to cover his arm, but this time round the sides of the gauntlet are opened up, allowing his Zoan form to function with the raid suit as wing webbings would connect from his arms to his body.

True Hybrid Form (Alternate): Similar to his other Hybrid Form, this form in particular is made for Akira to utilize his sword fighting style. Instead of a pair of long bladed wings, this form has shorter and smaller wings and limb appendages akin to a normal human arm length which allows Akira to wield katana properly. His feet became sharp talons. In this form long distance flying is slightly slower than the other hybrid form due to smaller wings but can be used for gliding around and making sharp turns in mid-air. Some Zoan-specific techniques are either unusable or weaker.

Unsheathing his sword from the holster, Akira raised his right talon up high before
slamming it down onto the roof – coating his right talon with Haki in order to supplement his already enhanced strength. This caused the roof to crumble upon the powerful force projected by the Shadow in which would allow Akira to drop to the floor below him. Staying in this building is rather important, for the marines would be forced to funnel into the building to deal with Akira, quite literally eliminating the chance of being surrounded with too many angles. Although this would only work if they do not intent to destroy the building alongside Akira. But the boy would guess as long as the powerful Marines are still within the building – such situation is unlikely to happen. This is partly the reason for the change in hybrid form, to accommodate for narrow corridors within the building.

Should there be any marines on the floor that Akira drop on – they would find the Shadow hidden within the raid suit, smoke emitting constantly off like a dark entity. A scary scene to be behold, especially for most of the soldiers, within mere seconds – death would come from Akira, as sword swings would paint the base interior red with their blood as the Assassin makes his way down level by level.

With a loud crash, Akira would blast himself to the floor below. If the entire base wasn't at full alert they were now at this point. This approach was less than subtle. Both Ground, Prodi and Kanda looked up in response to this overwhelming threat it made even Kanda clench his teeth in frustration. But nonetheless, the 3 went forward to approach this assailant. On the floor above Akira would find that he had dropped down into a lounge area of the base. While not completely filled nor empty it had some occupants trying to clear their minds of being potentially drafted into the war. Sadly, fate had a more grim purpose for them. By the time they realized that someone had approached them death had already claimed them, so swift and deadly was Spada her first mate. When Akira spilt all the blood he'd spot from the corner of his eye that someone had arrived, someone a bit tougher than the ones he had slain so far.

But compared to Akira himself he was a small fry. He was a tall skinny fellow with two swords on his back and already drawn, ready for combat. A slight tremble was present within his hands, unable to keep a steady hold on his swords. But bravery for now held on. It was the Lieutenant, Shimoi Zappa.

"You! W-who are you?! Y-you won't get away with this!" - The young man called out.

For now, he had to hold on as long as possible. Back-up was on its way.

The smell of fresh blood stinks the level of the building the intruder is in, and that stench of blood stains the walls of those whom came to deal with him. All the deaths that now weighs deeper into the etches of the darkness that is the Shadow, but even so – his targets are purely marines, soldiers of the World Government. Death is the consequence of their job. However, no matter the case, non-marines are typically left ignored though perhaps luckily there isn’t any on the current level that Akira may have accidentally killed one by mistake. Though even if there is, Akira would not have known nor would he cared. Such is life after all.

As the boy finished dealing with the enemies on the room, a newcomer would arrive – his aura much stronger than the ones that Akira dealt with. One of the stronger enemies in this place perhaps. But unfortunately, it seems that the newcomer isn’t as strong as Akira thought – for all the emotions that is seen by even without the use of Haki is fear. The boy did not respond to him, only turning to face him from his back. A brave man, but perhaps recklessness more than anything. Akira would observe every facet of the man before him as he turns to face the Marine. Whilst Zappa find the young boy’s stature to be normal. Underneath the creepy armour slightly obscured by the black smoke it emits is a monster. A dark aura permeates around Akira, a will of the monster that now Zappa is facing.

The boy understood fear. A member of Spada Pirates, fear is a tool. Slowly walking towards Zappa with no urgency to be had. The boy aimed to further cause fear and distress, to show the marine that the being before him is something that perhaps Zappa have dug his own grave into. The slow walking even giving the marine time to process his own emotions. Fear. Courage. Would he succumb to his own fear or would he stand tall in the face of death itself? For Akira, whichever Zappa choose did not matter. For just only several steps, even before they were in range of each other’s swords that Akira suddenly swung Twilight’s Edge horizontally towards the marine, the blade in which is permanently glowed in blue. From the edge of the blade came a thin air blade that extends the range of Akira's swing, aimed to seriously injure the marine whom may be taken aback by fear.

It was only a moment but sweat was already pouring down Zappa's face. The young lieutenant knew by instinct and every fibre of his being that the man nay creature before him vastly outclassed him. Akira too realised this with a mere glance and approached Zappa with a lack of urgency. Frozen in place it took Zappa a few moments and several steps forward by Akira that the young man would finally react. Rigged and stiff the man drew the two blades on his back and held them in front of himself.

"Cross Cra-!" - The young man shouted but Akira was far ahead of him.

It was a thing to behold. The craftsmanship. The utter mastery at displayed here. Van Goh vs a toddler. That was the difference in their skill with the sword. Unfortunately for Zappa, he was the toddler in this story.

With the draw of his weapon, Akira launched an air blade that could slice mountains towards Zappa. And the young man by sheer reflexes placed his weapons in a cross formation in front of him.

"Urgh!"
9. Small Country Level vs 81-100: 5. Town Level +1 Haki = 101-119: 6. City Level
DPR 2 or more higher than dura: super effective

Blown off his feet Zappa was launched through doors, walls, concrete and eventually steel. A single hole was drawn within the path that he flew through. On the opposite side of the floor, Akira could see that wires had fallen from the ceiling, a testament to the strength of his swing. But also the utter lack of power his opponent possessed. Or was Akira simply too strong? Besides Spada, and the monsters of the world. Was there someone else who could challenge him?

From the hole Zappa had flown through Akira would notice that a humanoid drill was heading his way. Zappa with his blades crossed began an ultra-high-speed rotation and aimed himself towards Akira, a prayer to drill through the Spada's first mate.

The boy swung his sword horizontally striking the air – but only to unleash a thin air blade that would aim to take down Zappa. But luckily for Zappa, he is trained well. Strong even, that even in face of death he managed to protect himself. But unfortunately, the difference between the two combatants were too large, as Zappa’s defense could not deal with Akira’s attack, causing the attack to break through and sent Zappa flying back through several walls, opening up a single hole that trails the marine’s path. The clash has damage the entire floor severely as wires seems to fall from the ceiling, though it is not ideal for Akira. Fighting as enclosed as he can make it easier to deal with an army of marines, though this is not something too much cause for concern at the moment, for as long as the building stands – the marines would be hard-pressed to eliminate the Shadow of La Spada.

Yet, the Zappa was not taken out immediately, as the boy could still sense the man before him moving right back at him – although quite injured. Like a drill, Zappa spun himself at high speed with his swords crossed and aimed towards Akira, a powerful move – though not exactly one that Akira is taken unsurprised. They both possess similar techniques, if one could say. As Zappa’s move closes in on Akira, the boy immediately swung his blade horizontally downwards once more to defend himself – this time aimed directly to strike hard against the sides of the crossed swords. An attack like this, Akira himself knew very well how to stop it. A weakness to such attacks are that they are strong only on the front, but never the sides. With his swing, the boy struck from the sides of the point of Zappa’s attack where the blade clashes with each other. The strength of Akira as well as the incredible sharpness and durability of Twilight’s Edge allowed Akira to not just put the attack down, but also directs Zappa’s attack to drive down onto the ground as his own technique quickly loses power.

Akira's DPR: 6. City Level (121+, Zoans only) + A: +3 (Sword Rank) +2 (Black Blade) = 11. Small Continent Level vs 8. Island Level
Result: Akira wins.

Akira would continue to press down from the side as he shifts his body towards the same side – putting more weight and pressure at the same time, making it difficult for Zappa to move away from the sword clash as it is likely that Zappa would find his swords now driven down towards the ground as a result. Moving into a two handed grip, Akira moved inwards towards Zappa as he slides the blade in as well whilst still pressing down Zappa’s weapons with his powerful physical strength, in a single powerful swing – Akira struck hard, using a powerful strike against the swords’ guards – which if successful would more than likely break the guard and allow Twilight’s Edge to hit directly into Zappa.

With this, the user aims to slide his weapon towards the opponent's hands and immediately with two hands, applies body momentum and swing out the katana towards the side. Through this, one can possibly cut off the enemy's hand depending on the weapon being used, or break weapon's guard and then the hands before finally resulting in a horizontal swing to the target's body. A tunnel of slicing air. That was one of Zappa's strongest techniques but Akira unfortunately had a technique similar to this in his own repertoire. And thus knew one of its key weaknesses. With a powerful horizontal swing towards the ground Akira parried and countered the attack in one smooth motion. Zappa, oblivious to what had happened was diverted to the ground and came crashing down into the wooden planks. But Akira wasn't stopping there and placed more pressure onto Zappa's swords, nearly pinning them down. Using this lock and the vast difference in power the shadow would use Zappa's blade to slide towards their handguards. Unable to stop this sequence Zappa could do naught else but observe as his handguards were sliced and eventually his upperbody as well.

With a massive wound on his shoulder and upperchest, Zappa was blown backwards once more into another wall. But this time the young man's life was inching away. Disarmed, mortally wounded and exhausted it didn't look good for our brave warrior. Sitting in the debris Zappa would try and move up but each try would cause the blood to flow even quicker. But despite all of that the man didn't care and moved his right hand, moments before from flicking his index finger.

"Tobu Shigan!"
81-100: 3. Large Building Level +3(A) +2(Haki) = 8. Island Level

Zappa shouted as a compressed bullet of air flew towards Akira's head, aiming a perfect headshot. After releasing this shigan Zapa's arm fell to the ground as he could hold only one eye open.

Was this the end?

The sequence of actions that the boy enacted on proved to be beyond Zappa, as the man could not fathom what is going on – and that in which would perhaps even costed him his life, had he not been stronger than the average person. With a single counter move, the boy cut into Zappa, almost fatally wounding the man before him as he cuts into the marine’s upper body past the guards of the swords that would otherwise have protected him. At the same time, as Akira struck Zappa, his physical strength quickly overwhelmed the man, causing the marine to send reeling back into a wall, destroying the wall as dust and smoke arises from the impact. The boy’s haki continues to sense his surroundings, where is the rest of the powerful marines within the building? Are they truly willing to abandon this man to his fate? A suicide mission to fight the Shadow? Or is it to stall for time? By now, those that are much stronger than him should long been here. Yet they aren’t.

Zappa could barely do much against Akira, and by this time there would been nothing else he could have done. Yet the man hanged on, he would not give up. Something that the boy could relate. Giving up means death, and as long as he could draw breath – giving up is not an option. And Zappa would persevere, to live or to accomplish his duties to his best ability, he would shout as he fires a bullet of compressed air towards Akira, the speed and power of the bullet disturbing the dust and smoke around him. Unfortunately for Zappa however, shouting an attack and especially in a distance drastically reduce the chance of hitting Akira.

A pity.

The boy thought. Swinging his blade horizontally, Akira fired a shockwave that would travel outwards and towards the bullet, the shockwave just slightly stronger yet enough to decompress the bullet of air into nothingness, and aimed towards Zappa with reduced power.

Akira's DPR: Akira's DPR: 6. City Level (121+, Zoans only) + A: +3 (Sword Rank) = 9. Small Country Level vs 8. Island Level
Result: Akira wins.

Attack is 1 DPR higher: Overwhelms the weaker attack but loses 5 DPR. New DPR: 101-119: 4. City Block Level

Unfortunately for Zappa, his comrades may seem to abandon him to his fate, or even perhaps willing to sacrifice him for the ‘greater good’. Yet the boy recognizes the perseverance of the marine, for he too – understands that despair, the desperation that drives ambition. And perhaps because of this understanding that perhaps Akira choose not to drive his sword into the body of the marine, instead leaving the desperation of the marine to his fate. Besides, not killing off Zappa might force the marines to think twice before trying to spring their trap, as they may not be that willing to leave their nearly dead comrade to be caught in it. Regardless of it, the actions of the marines that did not come to save Zappa would be enough for Akira to know what kind of ‘Justice’ they reveal themselves to be.

Akira had Zappa pinned down, wounded and out of energy the young marine couldn't do anything but look death in the face. The Tobu Shigan was blocked and overwhelmed by a stronger shockwave. With death racing towards him Zappa closed his eyes and awaited death to take him, his wounds wouldn't be able to endure much more than this. The shockwave hit and exploded all around the floor, crushing the remaining walls that surrounded Zappa. More and more Akira was reshaping this floor, if more destruction were released eventually no rooms would be left but only a singular floor to fight on.

The smoke quickly started to settle and with it, Akira would finally start to sense a new presence, one stronger than Zappa. But not by much compared to his own level. But this one, he'd recognize. Not from a presence or appearance.

But through notoriety

"Don't think it'll be this easy."

Before Akira, with two weapons drawn and held before Zappa was Yuu Kanda. The second in command at Fox Hound and Kallavan's right-hand man. A third sword still at his hip would make it quickly apparent what kind of practitioner in sword style he was. The shockwave Akira had launched, effectively blocked through his weapons and haki alone. From behind Kanda, a second marine appeared, a red-haired one. This one was Officer Grount who moved to Zappa, trying to give as much first aid as he could.

"This is bad, we'll have to move him immediately."
"I'll provide some cover, this one is only out for blood right now. And right now I'm the biggest target here."

Kanda rationalized and Ground reluctantly nodded in approval. Taking Zappa by his arm and moving it around his shoulder. With a swift Soru the both of them would vanish from view. But even through this high-speed movement, Akira would be able to follow it effortlessly. He simply was in a realm of his own, physically.

Now the floor was only to Akira and Kanda. The latter would turn around with both weapons in his hands and hold his weapons to their sides, each tip pointing to their respective side.

"Yuu Kanda, Rear-Admiral and Fox Hound Vice-Captain. Who are you, assassin."

An interesting choice. Putting the strongest warrior in front of Akira right from the get-go.

Would it really be this easy? With Kanda out of the way, the others were simply cattle for the slaughter house.

A swing of shockwave travels towards the now dying Zappa, or perhaps soon-to-be dead Zappa. The shockwave would hit, or so it would seem – but a new presence would finally appear, standing just in front of Zappa as the smoke clears. A sword to block the pressure of the shockwave has saved Zappa from a possibility of death and before Akira stood a new marine, one that is infamous in his younger days. Being much younger, while Akira may not have heard much stories regarding Kanda – but the Spada Pirates are aware of him, at least in appearance and name. This especially comes from their encounter with Kallavan since Wano Kuni, since then stories and news of their group has reached even the ears of Spada Pirates. Protecting the unconscious Zappa is not just Kanda himself but also another, whom quickly provided first aid. But the injuries were to severe and thus he had to be moved. With Zappa in tow, the marine entrusted upon Kanda to cover his escape – and thus with sharp shaving sound, the marines retreated. Leaving only Kanda to face Akira.

The boy remained quiet as he watched on, he barely even watched Ground and Zappa left, one of them is unable to battle. And right now there is only one powerful being amongst the marines on this island and that is Yuu Kanda. Or at least as far as Akira can sense. If there any stronger ones they would have been in front of him already alongside Kanda. As Kanda introduced himself not only as a marine of high rank but as a Foxhound unit, further confirming his identity – his demand of Akira’s identity was however not met. Not one to introduce himself as anything in part of his identity, Kanda would have to find out himself in regards to the Assassin before him. Although upon closer inspection, while Akira’s identity is a mystery, his persona as the Assassin wearing the raid suit is not. For only quite recently that a bounty named ‘Kurai’ appeared after the events of Whole Cake Island.

Either way, there is no reason to disclose his identity – for his role was supposed to be a nameless, and unknown identity. Even after the revelation of Kurai, the boy continues to assume that role responsibly. However, while Yuu did not receive a verbal response – he would instead receive a different kind of response, one that perhaps someone like Yuu knows best.

Flipping Twilight’s Edge into a reverse grip, the blue blade now points away from the Rear Admiral as Akira places his free hand normally on the sword’s hilt instead of a reverse grip, giving a similar visual appearance as if the Assassin is doing an Iai technique without a sheathe. The boy remained silent yet exudes an incredible killing intent, one that seems to manifests his aura of a draconic beast. A powerful killing instinct capable of even scaring off tough opponents.

Without much hesitation, Akira ‘withdraw’ his attack – waving his sword as purple whips of air blades starts to trail off the tip of the blade. Blackish blue smoke starts to emanate from the sword as the sword glows even brighter in blue. A blitzkrieg as Akira swings his sword towards Yuu, aiming to strike him with the whipping air blade as he blitzes past him. The air blades are fast and long, making dodging much more difficult and even after Akira would move past Kanda, the trailing whips of air blades may still strike the marine. Not even stopping after the first attempted strike, the boy pivots himself back and swing the same attack once more, making the air blade whips contort its movement erratically.

"Here he comes."
Kanda whispered below his breath, bracing himself for death to arrive.

With both his weapons drawn and grip tighter than ever before Kanda prepared himself for the worst. While he was no pushover not by a long shot the opponent before him was in a totally different caliber. One that could even bare his fangs at the Big Boss, Kallavan, himself. Kanda's face showed complete focus and concentration. The killing intent not detering him in the slightest for he crawled out of a similar darkness that was covering Akira, or how he was more widely known. Kurai.

One blink. That was all it took for Akira to not only be in front of Kanda but already to his side. Utterly outclassed even after a singular step. Never before had Kanda fought such an opponent. Not since Kallavan himself and that was with the man holding back. This realization sinked in deeply as a complete shock, his eyes widened as a deadly strike dangled towards him like a rope. It'd force him a decision, one that would eventually lead to self destruction. But it was the only avenue he could take, the difference was just too great.

Kanda moved his two arms close to one another, blades pointing upward as he flexed both his arms with incredible strength. Increasing his natural bulk as haki flowed through his arms and blades in tandem. The air blades, slashing and dicing Kanda with numerous cuts but the young man percevered. His endurance far greater than Zappa who had met his end with the same swiftness. But it'd still do super effective damage regardless.

"Nittoryu: Nanahyakuniju Pound Ho!"

101-119: 4. City Block Level +A(3) +2(Haki) = 9. Small Country Level

Kanda shouted as he turned around, swinging once and twice close after one another. Releasing two deadly slashes that'd fly towards Akira at very close range. The two slashes would fly, rotating towards each other before merging into a singular razor sharp air slash. The slash, aimed to fight back and also push back this assailant. Whether it succeeded or not Kanda would take a few steps back and lowered his arms, blood already seeping towards his wrists. A singular clash if you could even call it that, it was more an ambush than anything. But still, Kanda had sustained a considerable amount of damage from it.

"Shit."

Was the only thing Kanda could utter as thoughts of death started creeping into his mind.

Akira swung his whip-like air blade at incredible close range as the boy almost closes the gap between him and Kanda instantaneously, not just in part of his Zoan enhancement but also the short distance that made it seem like it is. Through the whipping air blade, Kanda was forced to defend himself, using Haki to help grant additional protection against the incoming attack. As the air blade struck Kanda, causing multiple lacerations that would batter his body. An attack greater than perhaps what Kanda did not realize until it is too late. The boy would blitz past Kanda, but he would also very quickly pivot his leg to turn right back at Kanda, the air blade having done its job would dissipate into thin air. But as Akira turns around, he would find air blades fired almost essentially at point blank. Even though Akira could see and process the attack quick enough, Kanda’s counterattack makes it effectively impossible to dodge it at point blank. However, the boy is powerful, particularly in his Hybrid form state.

Name: Blade Wings (Passive)
Rank: B (True Hybrid) | A (Hybrid/Beast)
Description: When he is in his Human-Beast or Beast Form, Akira is able to use his Pteranodon wings like swords, allowing him to release powerful air blades by swinging them. These slash attacks can deal massive damage, and he can launch them in rapid succession. Akira is also capable of using the wings to attack normally, as the wings are both strong and durable enough to utilize it in melee. Doesn't stack rank bonus with other techniques using the bladed wings.
(Normal attacks: 41 Mastery, 41 Strength | 61 Mastery, 61 Strength)
(Air blades: 51 Mastery, 51 Strength | 71 Mastery, 71 Strength)

Akira's DPR: 6. City Level (121+, Zoans only) + B: +2 (True Hybrid) = 8. Island Level vs 9. Small Country Level
Result: Attack is 1 DPR higher: Overwhelms the weaker attack but loses 5 DPR, Guren's new DPR: 101-119: 4. City Block Level

Akira's Durability: 8. Island Level (121+, Zoans only)
Result: DPR 2 or more below dura: Not very effective

While the wings aren’t particularly as powerful as the original Hybrid form, it is still strong enough that Akira can use it to defend himself with, and it does not take much movement at all to do so. Swinging the smaller wing blade, Akira uses it to strike back at the air blade, though the lack of enough time prevented him from utilizing Haki to further enhance himself.

With the bladed wings clashing onto the merged air blade, a small brief respite is given to Kanda as the momentary clash slowed Akira, with Kanda’s own attack being slightly stronger allows his attack to slightly overpower Akira’s bladed wings, causing small cuts upon his left wing. Yet all Kanda would get is a small window of rest, for Akira almost immediately pushed on towards Kanda at high speed, having no intention of giving Kanda any form of ways to process his thoughts while dealing with the Assassin. Having switched back to a normal grip, Akira is notably seen holding Twilight’s Edge closer to the sharp edge of the blade from the hilt side with his right hand, thanks to the guard-less design of the sword. Once close enough in distance that is within sword range, Akira swung his blade once more horizontally from right to left. This time a much easier strike to follow through for Kanda, a change in aggressive of sorts. But perhaps for Kanda, this action might be more scary to face head-on, for the unpredictability of Akira’s attacks makes it a trait of Akira’s fighting style.

It was a point blank attack but even with all of that in mind, Kanda still saw his attack being brushed off like it was nothing. Zoan's resellience at its finest. The slices flew and pushed Akira back slightly but not enough to give the Rear-Admiral the time that he needed. The only thing it'd allow him was to draw his last sword and place it in his mouth. The famed santoryuu was now fully in place and ready to go.

But would it make that much of a difference?

Again Akira crossed the distance with dazzling speed, it took all of Kanda to even grasp a glimpse of this black bolt. For that was all he could see when the shadow moved, a black bolt of pure acceleration.

With no time to properly set up anything, Kanda would lean forward as Akira moved forward. The former's eyes gleaned red during the entire time while the latter dashed out with several horizontal cuts. Strangely, however, Kanda didn't attack and simply danced through the cuts as if his body was on auto pilot.

"Tourou Nagashi..." The man whispered, slight cuts still appearing due to the difference in speed. But they weren't life threatening as Akira intended them to be.

Through this dance Kanda would move around Akira through his opposite flank and sliced him all in one swift unending movement.

101-119: 4. City Block Level +A(3) +1(Haki) = 8. Island Level

Regardless if it did any damage, Kanda would use this opportunity to continue to dash forward. Desperately trying to seize a moment of rest and to catch his breath. These exchanges had only just begun but the degree of damage he was sustaining was drastic. He wouldn't be able to keep this up much longer.

The boy swung Twilight’s Edge whilst holding the sword closer to its blade, his grip granting him a shorter range to swing his weapon but at the same time allows speedier control. Kanda whom managed to fully withdrew all three of his weapon prepared himself to counterattack suddenly moved in, perhaps a little surprised at the man’s decision despite the overwhelming odds against him, yet it is not something that Akira could not have defended against. One of a good reason he wielded Twilight’s Edge like this allowed him to very quickly move his sword in and out of his arm to defend in a dagger-like fashion. While Kanda has 3 swords, Akira himself technically speaking also has something similar, his wings are as sharp as blades, even though in his current Zoan form it wasn’t as powerful as the original form – Akira’s prowess is enough that the boy could use his other free arm, or rather his wing to block two swords whilst Twilight’s Edge meets with the last one.

Clashing upon clashing, Akira defended himself as the dance between the two starts to move to an end as Kanda starts to flank. However, at the last second – Akira suddenly moved his free arm forward just as Kanda was about to careen past him, Haki barely coating his outstretched arm in time as one of Kanda’s sword strike would leave a moderate gash across his forearm. Yet the boy did not care, he would quite literally aim to grab onto one of arms closest to him just before Kanda could completely move past Akira, as the other arm is likely far away from to strike back without causing Kanda to first turn around to face the Shadow. If Kanda is caught by the arm, Akira would strike at the wrist bone through his fingers while grabbing at it at the same time – aimed to hit Kanda’s pressure point by the wrist bone that would affect the nerves, making it such that Kanda would find it more difficult to utilized that hand momentarily, unless of course Kanda have already coated the hand with Haki beforehand.

Akira's Durability vs Kanda's DPR
Result: Somewhat effective (A little bit arbitrary since it's either effective or not very effective with my durability + haki vs yours, so I went with in between)

Name: Yunmen (雲門, Cloudy Gate)
Rank: C
Description: The user strikes at the target's pressure points, namely the base of the neck, the wrist bone or the sternum. If struck at any of the regions except for the wrists, the nerves are temporarily affected, slowing the body movements and disorienting the target for 2 turns. While being struck at the wrist bones temporarily makes the target harder to utilize their hands for 2 turns. (61 Ryūsui-Ken, 21 Strength, 41 Reaction Speed, Does not affect Haki) [Pic 1]

No DPR since Akira is grabbing you instead

But regardless whether or not the technique succeeded, Akira’s physical strength would likely put a dead stop to Kanda’s movement, likely even ‘pulling’ him back from the forward momentum. Here, the boy would then twist his outstretched arm, generating a strong centrifugal force towards Kanda aim to twist and spin Kanda’s body like a spiral that would also blast him away from Akira at the same time. The force in which if no resistance from Kanda is successfully applied may even badly injure his arm. The boy didn’t seem willing to kill Kanda too quickly, his subconscious mind realizes his own enjoyment over fighting like this for quite a long while, since the last time he fought Mihawk. Lowering his grip back to the normal way in which most people would tend to hold their sword, Akira seems like he is testing his skills against someone like Kanda, from a martial arts standpoint, in a way it is almost similar to how he fought Zappa before.

Name: Ryūsuikyu (流水球, Water Stream Sphere)
Rank: B
Description: The user catches the opponent and twist his/her arm, generating a strong centrifugal force that is applied to the target, whether as an object or an opponent - that would cause them to spiral and spin if no resistance is applied. Should the user pushes against the target, a powerful backwards force is also generated, capable of blasting opponents back whilst still causing a spiraling motion. [Pic 1] (41 Ryūsui-Ken, 41 Strength, 41 Reaction Speed)
