Komei was in his dark, windowless office once more. Despite the lack of natural lighting, the room was illuminated by the many den den mushi monitor feeds, giving Komei a perfect view of every part of the base. His mind wandered back to his recent interaction with an individual whom Komei was certain was one of Daiki's subordinates.

Acting quickly, Komei picked up the receiver of a den den mushi on his desk and waited before a deep, laid back voice responded to his call.
"Vice Admiral Komei. To what do I owe the pleasure of this unexpected call?"
Komei massaged his eyebrows with his left hand and drew out a long suffering sigh before responding.
"If you would be so kind as to do me a favour Commodore Jonathan then I ask that you deal with a certain Agent Daiki for me. Find out what he wants, see if you can give it to him and send him on his merry way. I do not want to have to personally deal with that lunatic. Do you understand?"
The harsh tone of Komei's voice left little room for argument. Drumming his fingers in an irritable manner loud enough for Jonathan to hear through the receiver, Komei impatiently waited for a response.
"I understand."
"Good."
Komei placed the receiver back on top of the purple snail's creamy coloured shell and went back to observing the many brightly lit screens in front of him.

I did exactly as he asked and amply rewarded him. Daiki's subordinates are so much more pleasant to deal with than Daiki himself. Goodness knows when he will randomly come back here again. The arrival of the Vice Admiral of the base was not something to scoff at, but Bond was in no position delay his departure. Giving his best genuine smile, Bond looked directly into the eyes of the intimidating man.
"Just a traveler who considers themselves a citizen of the world with the religion to do good" Bond went so far as to wink at the Vice Admiral. There was a level that he could get away with, a level of anonymity but he did not want to push. Maybe a wink would fall in line with it because it was not too much more than necessary. Bond did not want to offset the strides that Daiki had taken to make their operations viable.
"The reward can be written out to a Weil Whaleson." Bond let the name linger in the air, hoping that the Admiral had taken to perusing the files that Daiki had left for him. Extending his hand with another non-threatening smile, Bond attempted to accept the money.
