Status: Ongoing
Year of Release: January 26, 2006
Author: Yasuhisa Hara
Genre: Seinen, Military, Historical, Action

Synopse: During the Warring States period in China, Shin and Hyou are two brother-like youngsters who dream of becoming Great Generals, despite their low status as orphaned slaves. One day, they encounter a man of nobility, who gives Hyou an opportunity to undertake an important duty within the state of Qin's royal palace. Parting ways, Shin and Hyou promise each other to one day become the greatest generals in the world. However, after a fierce coup d'état occurs in the palace, Shin meets with a dying Hyou, whose last words spur him into action and lead him to encounter the young and soon-to-be king of Qin, Ei Sei.

Although initially on bad terms, Shin and Sei become comrades and start on a path filled with trials and bloodshed. Sei's objective is to bring all the warring states under Qin, and Shin seeks to climb to the very top of the army ranks. Against a backdrop of constant tactical battle between states and great political unrest, both outside and within the palace, the two endeavor towards their monumental ambitions that will change history forever.

I need to catch up this epic manga but I feel binge watching kingdom is the best. I would re-read it again sometime, can't bear airing chapters :/

Hey, anybody read the latest chapter? It seems like the right wing (or rather, Shin and Ou Hon) are the one that would decide the end of the clash alright~
Yes, but I must say I didn't expect Ouhon to wake up that early. His injuries were perceived as fetal, and little of his character-development was highlighted after his loss to Gyou'un, although it's understandable since i'd imagine that Hara wants to wrap things up on the last day with some achievements under Ouhon's belt. Can't argue about the matchups of this duel either.

Riboku's answer was expected but he brings up a valid argument over whether Ousen* is capable of raising a new kingdom and nourishing it. Should he be incapable of doing that, i don't think Ousen is the king of person to dilute himself over the limits of his own capabilities, but not sure what exactly is he getting it, by playing the independent entity with a secret ambition.

I did, I did!

It was a super nice chapter, I already expected Riboku to decline Ousen's offer, but I was glad to see Riboku put Ousen in his place (don't like Ousen, as you can see xD). And yeah, he is betting on the right wing, but more specific on Shin and Kyoukai. I think he is gonna be surprised that Ou Hon will bring big achievements as well, since it's their first war together and he doesn't expect much of his kid.

I was seriously surprised by that either, but I guess he got an extra battery from his thirst to prove himself to his father. He was my least favorite of the youngster trio, but now I really like him~ :giggle:

Must be Kyo Kai's secret formula again...

Almost healed Shin's sliced hand against Rinko, in a night-fall, as well.

Kyou Kai is basically a miracle worker. Well her condition is also abnormal. She always push her self to the point of knocking on the death's door almost all the time, but she can recovers just as fast as she lost it, every single time. Lol if she continues to do so I doubt she could live past 50…

Despite that, she almost always sets off with little credit in comparison to her actual feats. KyouKai should stop being in Shin's shadow all the time, and be the protagonist of her own accord.

I think that' what she wants alright, she doesn't wish to become a great general like what Shin's always wanted to be, rather she only wanted to prove her worth by making sure Shin gets what he wants. Pretty much like Zoro~

That would be a fair development, i guess. But i'd personally love to see her take the road of martial-supremacy herself and aim to break past everyone including Shin.

Pretty much like a Kyou and not a Tou to Ouki....

but the manga do have an epic hero-like female protagonist called Akiyousei Yo Tan Wa alright, having two protagonist with similar role and characteristic would be rather boring, I want her to take different route from Yo Tan Wa and/or Ka Ryou Ten~

Yotanmwa is a Queen of a bunch of barbarians who wouldn't even classify as Qin soldiers, not too long ago. Kyo Kai is a formidable assassin and a genius technician, above her martial power, on the other hand. Wouldn't it be a shame to exclusively reserve this gem to the HSU, when she could be very capable of leading an army of hundreds of thousands in the future?

At any rate, I'd be interested to see how Hara is planning to write her future. We've deviated too much from the original discussion, lol.

Kyoukai was already foreshadowed as a possible member of the next generation of Six Great Generals in this current war. Gyou'un already stated that the four of them (Mouten, Shin, Kyoukai and Ouhon) reminded him of the Six Generals

The duel was a joke, I can't believe it didn't even extend past the 3rd page...

Gyou's pep talk makes a lot more sense now...
