War of Treason | The Three Fronts - #2
Both sides called audible at the Marine flag. Cannons rained from both sides towards the approaching vessel. A stout man appeared from the deck, making short work of the cannonballs, them only meeting ocean. The sea rocked, and smoke clouded the area. The man would disappear from his position, now looking down on his target: The Revolution encampment.
[Soldier] “Oy! Who is that?! The Marines are here! Alert Dollet at once!”
One of the soldiers manning the cannons on top of the wall clamored out a report. He saw a marine cloak, signifying standing within ranks. The SOS was sounded. Yet, it came too late. Those words would be followed by a shriek of terror. A giant fist of fire descended upon the middle of the encampment.
An explosion came next, gunpowder set ablaze. The RA In the battlefield pressed on to avoid the fire behind them, but many of the soldiers in the base lay fallen, eyes white and clothes burnt. as the remaining soldiers got their own together, a man of RA stature appeared from the command center. From the balcony, he witnessed the destruction.
[Soldier] “No... it can’t be. A commanding officer of Marines? Here?!”
[Soldier] “Don’t falter! Begin the Icarus Tactic! Prepare the tunnels! Archers, darken their world!”
While the RA tried to respond to the devastation, the Providence Kingdom was in it’s own disarray. Vice-Admiral Leo had appeared atop their base, demanding the King. He’d find soldiers were aiming at him. Guns and swords pointe. Trembling, as it were, but their distaste was clear.
[Hammond] “Do not lower your weapons!”
A voice came from the trenches. A tall muscly
woman appeared from the many, equipped in the attire of a soldier in command. Other Providence Kingdom soldiers called her Captain, and she walked up to Leo and addressed him without a single worry.
[Hammond] “The King is not here. This is the front lines! And the Providence Kingdom does not need help from those who seek to turn opportunity to occupation!”
[Hammond] “Now leave! Or an enemy of the state you will become!”
The soldiers murmured amongst themselves. It was clear they were hesitant and scared of the newcomer. Some, however, joined Captain Hammond in a “Rawh!”. Vice-Admiral Leo had walked into a political nightmare.
Before more words could be exchanged, a soldier opened the gate to the Providence encampment, his face clad with worry.
[Hammond] “Captain Hammond! They trapped Commander Dagama! We need to save hi-!”
Those were last words. Arrows tore through the young soldier’s body. A shadow overtook the base. The sun was blotted out by hundreds of arrows. They descended upon the battlefield and the base threatening havoc. Unbeknown to the group, half a dozen small aircraft took lift behind the arrows, cloaked by them. They aimed to use the arrows and the sun to mask their approach. Icarus. To the command center, bombs at the ready.
Back at Leo’s ship. The cannon fire from the RA base continued once more, still seeking to sink the ship. Vulnerable without their strong leader.
Three fronts. In the battlefield, Dagama was cornered, circled by at least two dozen soldiers, expecting the end. At the base, the blotting arrows threatened all, cloaking the attack from above. Back at Leo’s ship, his own men were in peril, bombarded by an angry hornet’s nest.
Three fronts. One vice-Admiral. Time was of the essence. He couldn't get to all three at once. Which front would he chooss?
