I've resorted to just using desert champs.

Depends though. Typically desert-blademaster or something along those lines.
Desert-steel, desert-assassin, desert-poison etc.

I typically get at least 4th place.

Ocean/Warden/Mages

Nautilus, Thresh
Either all six mages or five plus a wiggles witchcap on Thresh. Syndra and Vladimir are a must, as with the two wardens it will give you gold Ocean. Wiggles is really the only high priority item.
Prio on gold: Brand>Veigar>Syndra>Vlad

Taliyah or Leblanc can be switched out for something else depending on what you're running. Malphite goes well with Taliyah, if its an ocean round you can add a nami and qiyana and make another champion an assassin.

Fire Qiyana and an Annie(maybe also a mage annie) would also be great.

Berserkers

All six berserkers plus a desert(preferably khazix) Or give khazix a Berserker Axe and replace Jax with something else. Always give Olaf a Guinsoo's Rageblade.

Personally, the bird carries most of my games.

Buff Kha'zix are scary too. High crit or berserker + more lmao. But yeah, azir tore them apart, until olaf showed up lmao.

I've never used an Olaf in a meaningful way. I've been meaning to use him in a comp somehow but I'm always going electric desert.

I like Kha with mana lowering items, makes him hard to touch.

He's really good if you're running full berserkers, especially if he's silver and you got an attack speed item like giant slayer or guinsoo's rageblade. He can literally solo an entire team once he starts popping off.

Shadows, Oceans or Wardens all the way

Shadow + Blademaster is sexy or Shadow with some heavy focus on malz, doing summoner and maybe turn him into a mage.
Shadow with Lucian is quite sexy too, can add 2 random summoners and turn a shadow into light (Kindred or Senna)

Yeah, I've been trying out a couple new things, but RNG keeps forcing be back to Ocean Mages a lot.
