Call it speculation, well it is obvious from the way Vergo tells Tashigi she will only understand if she becomes a parent herself , that Vergo comes from a place of understanding. You can only say to someone. ”you’ll understand” if you yourself understand the matter, especially a delicate one like a parents loss of a child. Vergo relates to the parents
so Oda is not even hiding Vergo is a parent. Otherwise he would express himself differently
