Betting on King being a Basilisk/Cockatrice looking fucker and intended to evoke these monsters on level, so a matchup against Marco would be fitting on many levels. Would be cool to see King countering the Flames of Rebirth with some kinda haki-based Flames of Destruction tied the Cockatrice legends. Ontop of that, maybe Kinemon isn't the only swordsman on Wano who can "cut" fire...perhaps even the flames of a Phoenix. I think a special brand of sword technique will be introduced that can inhibit the shapeshifting and regen abilities of logias, with Zoro's defeat of Monet, Brook's cutting of homies, and perhaps prospects of Marco's powers getting countered foreshadowing this development...all leading up to a pitched battle to cut down what I suspect will prove to be a very hard to kill Orochi, once it's revealed that his Devil Fruit provides a Hydra-like regen ability similar to Marco's own.
Here's hoping Marco gets to score a big win, dude deserves something.
Curious where Weevil fits into all this. I've seen some speculate that the WG's crackdown on the ex Shichibukai, perhaps even Weevil's capture, is what freed Marco up to head to Wano. I dunno about all that. Not inconceivable, I suppose, but I have a hard time seeing Marco leaving things to chance or Weevil already suffering a defeat of any sort so soon after being introduced with such fanfare.
If Oda's recent habits are any indication, could also be that the awaited Marco/Weevil confrontation has already occurred and been resolved...off-panel....yeah. Same as with Reverie, details to be dished out at a later time. Who knows, perhaps Weevil will all of a sudden appear on Wano as an added antagonist or ally even? Because...Off-Paneled plot. Ugh.
Anyways, I've a strong suspicion that Weevil's true nature is related to the Mountain God boars of Wano, so him showing up on Wano wouldn't be outta of place. That's where his real daddy hails from....or one of em anyways.
Some other fun ideas:
- the Whitebeard crew pulled a Kin'emon by somehow deceiving Bakkin and Weevil into heading for Wano under the pretense of finding some fictitious treasure of Whitebeard's there.
- I think it'd be a neat touch if Shanks were to somehow become aware of Marco and Neko's predicaments and offer to guard Sphynx Island so Marco go handle business. One might ask why Shanks himself wouldn't get involved, given his own link to Oden and the firepower he'd be packing, but Oda could come up with any number of reasons that run the gamut from the insipid ( This is Luffy's fight durr durr ) to the enigmatic ( there's something else equally as important that Shanks has to take care of, dun dunn dunnn ) to the potentially awesome ( I'm getting the old crew back together, I'll be there soon...).
Shanks is a guy I see making a big Marineford-style entrance as we approach Wano's climax for a number of reasons.
