Mistborn(series 1 and 2 plus novella) and warbreaker are must reads. They have direct connections to stormlight, at least book 3 and 4. Elantris too, but not as direct.

Oh damn. Fun fact tho my first marine char before I switched to Kallavan was Dalinar. 
He looked like that which doesn't remotely look like Dalinar but found it a cool Garp like image.
