Menace on the Grand Line
@kakashi19283

A small town located on the southern part of the Grand Line has been running into trouble, where the local guards have been having issues locating the culprit involved in a spree of murders regarding the deaths of certain members within the royal family of this town. On one night however, the castle located on the hill, slightly isolated away from the rest of the town – screams could be heard if one is close enough to the castle.

Inside the castle, blood splatters at almost every corner of the castle, soldiers lay dead in a line towards the throne room. However, if one were to truly notice, maids and servants despite laid on the floor as well, no blood could be seen on them, they were instead knocked unconscious rather than dead, some went into hiding in order to stay alive although they are unlikely to be killed. However more importantly in the throne room, conversation could be heard coming from the King and another figure, but it did not take long for the conversation to be cut short – with the murderer having no interest in the King’s words nor for his begging of wanting to live. If one were to peer into scene, they may notice not just the King of this town is dead, but also – a large piece of cloth covers it, much like a flag where the La Spada Pirates’ jolly roger could be seen. An indication in which the legendary pirate crew have placed their mark upon this town, for the insolence of the King’s public dismissal of La Spada Pirates – his reward for his bravery is death.

The figure, now seen to be a relatively young adult, covered in
black bandages and wearing a black garb, his katana, covered in blood as it drips onto the floor. Regardless of the consequences, the murderer’s job is done here. Without putting much thought onto whether someone saw him or not, the figure left the throne room by the front door, planning to leave the castle much like anyone would do so normally.

A small town in disarray. Strange murders were taking place, and none were able to track the one responsible. On this night, the murderer made his way toward the King's Castle. Guards slain, others knocked out, littered the hallways of the castle. Fear and panic ruled the night. The murderer made his way into the King's Throneroom, where a short conversation ensued. However, uninterested in the King's words, the murderer stabbed the King. An execution. When the murderer turned around and started to walk away, a blue light would catch his peripherals. If he turned around, he would see blue fire surrounding the King. Was he being burned alive? That would be anyone's primary assumption. Next came a gunshot. The bullet etched into the ground right next to the murderer's feet. If the murderer had managed to see the bullet for a split second, and had managed to deduce the direction the bullet came from based on its trajectory and sound, he would follow that trajectory to the corner of the King's Throneroom. There, enshrouded in the shadows of the night, a man walked out. Spiky blond hair standing tall, red-orange tinted circular-shaped shades covering his eyes, and a crimson red button-up coat, boots, and gloves cladding his body, the man held a gun in his right hand, smoke trailing from the barrel. Walking toward the slain King, the man spoke.

Lucky I happened to be on this island...

The man said, as if talking to the King. The King's finger moved and his eyes squinted. He was alive, albeit barely. And whether he would remain alive was something left to be seen. But if any place was good for the King in his current predicament, it was inside the embrace of a Phoenix's flames. Coming to a stop next to the King, the man turned toward the murderer and spoke.

What a mess you've caused here. Who are you? My name's Vash.

The blond man said, giving his name so as to avoid the cliché ''one asking for a name should give theirs first'' response that he gets all too often.

However, as Akira attempts to leave, a blue light emanated behind him – prompting him to turn back to the King – which immediately follows by a gunshot that landed just by his feet. Akira would notice a new figure appearing from his peripheral of his vision from the corners of the throne room, shrouded in dark before slowly emerging into vision. More importantly, he notices the blue fire surrounding his victim, but for some reason despite being burned by the blue fire, a finger twitched and the eyelids spasm for a bit – alive? Akira wondered. Is the blue fire different from normal fire? Akira cannot be sure but at the very least there is no burn marks appearing on the King’s body. Akira is not amused with what the man has done to the King. Ignoring his greetings, Akira have little reasons to introduce himself, after all the point of being La Spada’s shadow is to ensure that legend of La Spada stays a myth, introducing himself defeats that purpose. Instead, he quickly asks the man in front of him.

“Why did you save him? Now I have to kill him again.”

Instead of putting his sword back into the sheathe, Akira walked closer – the man uses a gun, which means that being at a closer range makes it less dangerous, though one may never expect how a close range fight with a gun user may be, Akira is aware that the way the man dressed and the blue fire is enough to show that he is unlikely to be normal person, someone possible strong – and probably not from this town. Picking up a random sword from the ground, taken from the body of the soldier, Akira is wary of the man’s arm, more particularly the guns, which is more of a problem than the fire, even though he should have more advantage in closer range, should the man moved his arms Akira can react easier to gun shots.

The blue flames of the Phoenix continued to burn. The murderer, who did not wish to introduce himself, asked Vash why he had saved the King. Vash's right eyebrow furrowed and a confused look dawned on his face.

Why would I not save someone I can?

Vash asked. Based on the look on his face and the intonation of his voice, it seemed like he was genuinely confused about the murderer's question. Then again, since he did not want to give his name, he was probably an assassin. And an assassin would not understand Vash's sentiments. The murderer, as he shall be referred to henceforth, due to the absence of a name, picked up a random katana from someone else that he had killed. Together with his own katana, the murderer was now dual-wielding. Vash, with his free hand, reached for another one of his guns holstered on his thighs. He, too, was now dual-wielding. The murderer was walking toward Vash, clearly intent on closing the distance. Little did the katana-wielder know, Vash would not mind that one bit, despite the fact that he was a Gunslinger.

Entering into a Gun-fu stance, Vash pushed off of the ground and dashed toward the murderer. Once in front of the man, just outside of the reach of his katanas, Vash stopped and pointed his right gun at the man. From that near point blank range, Vash fired a bullet, aiming to inflict a gunshot wound onto the murderer's stomach.

All the while, his left hand was engaged, the finger on the trigger, aiming to shoot at a moment's notice.

“I see.”

The words from the man named Vash gives Akira the impression that he is one of the people that is on the other side of the morality spectrum. It’s not a great look for Akira whom is attempting to finish off his mission. However, regardless of the man’s ability – Akira only needed to make sure that he deals a fatal blow to the King, enough that even Vash’s ability isn’t enough to bring him back to life. As he approached both the King and Vash, this immediately prompted Vash to go into his combat stance momentarily before he would close the gap between himself and Akira quickly, only to stopped just slightly in front of Akira.

However, this prompted Akira to do the same – whom did the same and propel forward with incredible speed, using his katana on his right to swing and slammed at the outstretched pistol of Vash away just seconds before Vash would fire his gun, using the momentum of the strike to attempt slap the gun away, Akira would immediately lower his body at the same time to ensure the bullet doesn’t hit him, the gunslinger definitely isn’t afraid of close combat – but one thing is certain is that it’s a gun that can only shoot straight from the barrel, watching the fingers of either hand is paramount to deal with attacks that Akira himself is incredibly unlikely to be able to dodge. This means that as long as the gun barrel isn’t on him as much as possible, he should be relatively fine.

With the forward momentum, Akira kicks forward towards the man’s feet, attempting to painfully step onto the man’s instep part of the feet. If enough force is delivered it is even possible to knock him off balance, but Akira wouldn’t go into that thinking it would be enough. At the same time using his left arm, the other weapon picked up from the ground, Akira attempts to impale the man from the stomach vertically upwards as Akira’s body goes back up to level, keeping an eye out of Vash other gun.

With blistering speed, Vash pushed off of the ground and rushed the katana wielder. It seemed that Vash was not uncomfortable in close-quarters combat, despite the fact that he was apparently a Gunslinger. Taking the fight to the murderer also prevented the murderer from getting to the King, who was still recovering on the floor, flames healing him more and more.

When Vash appeared in front of the murderer, he had his right arm extended forward, finger on the trigger, and was about to pull the trigger. However, the katana-wielder, having also dashed toward Vash, got in range sooner than Vash expected, and swung his right katana, hitting Vash's gun and essentially smacking it out of his hand. The gun went skidding across the floor of the throne room. Simultaneously, the katana-wielder dropped and then stabbed forward with his left katana, aiming to step on Vash's inside foot while at the same time aiming to skewer Vash's stomach.

Vash retreated his lead foot, avoiding the murderer's stomp. Right before the tip of the katana could reach Vash's stomach, his left hand came rushing toward the middle, and Vash slammed the pommel/cartridge end of the gun into the side of the katana, parrying it to Vash's right. The katana would pass by the right side of Vash's stomach, missing narrowly. With Vash's left hand now in front of him from the deflection, and the gun already pointing toward the murderer, Vash fired once more. At this point, both the man's right katana, which he had swung outward to smack Vash's gun out of his hand, and his left katana, which had been deflected by Vash's attack, were now away from the man's center, leaving his chest exposed to the bullet, which came quickly, for Vash's parry and gunshot were essentially a one-two punch, one leading directly into the other.

With his quick actions, Akira was able to deflect away the gun from the right hand – knocking it away from his hands. This means that there is one less issue to worry about for now. As the gun skids across the floor away from them, Akira would find Vash taking a step back to prevent his feet from being stomped. Vash would immediately defend himself with his left gun, using the pommel of the gun to slam Akira’s attack away, aiming to push it aside. However, this is something that Akira himself is aware of and expecting to be – what he did not expect was the speed in which Vash did it. As the sword is deflected to the side, giving Vash and opening to Akira, the assassin immediately let go of the weapon, his whole arm turning jet black as he clenched his fist and immediately performed a backhand fist striking towards Vash’s hand

*BANG*

A loud noise could be heard, Vash’s target missed, but not by a lot – the bullet did not hit the stomach, but instead Akira’s waist was grazed by the bullet – blood seeping out from the wound moments later as the garb was damaged. Not a great sign. While painful, Akira quickly get back to the matter at hand, with the weapon being let go means it fell in between Vash and Akira. As the sword is about to fall onto the ground, Akira immediately kicked with the other leg towards the sword, aiming to forcefully propel the sword forward to Vash, aiming to impale Vash with powerful force. With that move, Akira would take a step back, he originally wanted to use this to surprise Vash by using it on the King, but now he would have to think of something else. Keeping himself aware of Vash’s guns, should Vash attempt to pick up the gun, Akira would have to make a move.

Vash successfully deflected the murderer's katana, causing it to miss its intended target. Simultaneously, Vash positioned his gun directly at the murderer's chest, allowing him to attack quickly. The trigger was pulled, but just in time, the murderer had let go of his weapon and used a backhanded strike aimed at Vash's hand. This caused the trajectory of Vash's shot to be changed, grazing the side of the murderer's torso instead of hitting him dead on. Blood had been drawn, but it was not a highly significant blow to be sure. From there, the murderer attempted to kick the katana that he had dropped, aiming to kick it straight into Vash's abdomen, skewering it in the process.

Black Busou-shoku no Haki formed on Vash's abdomen as the tip of the katana collided with the defense.

You calc'd your DPR wrong. :D

The tip of the katana managed to pierce Vash's skin, drawing some blood, though the blade did not reach deep enough to inflict any significant damage. Both the murderer, and Vash, moved backward and away from one another, ending their first clash. A blue flame appeared on Vash's abdomen for a few seconds, before swirling away and showing that his injury was gone. At this point, the King started to get better as well, and elevated into a sitting position, watching everything that was unfolding in front of him.

T-thank you, stranger.

The King said, Vash nodding.

No problem-o! I suggest you back away a little bit, Mr. King.

Vash said, showing some humor in his way of speaking, despite the situation. With his attention back on the murderer now, Vash decided to take this more seriously. He holstered the gun that he was still holding, and then took out two new guns. He had four in total. One had been knocked out of his hand, the other he had just holstered, and he now wielded a new pair. Whether this pair was any different was anyone's guess, and something that Akira would have to find out. Suddenly, both of Vash's feet transformed into large talons of blue fire, and his right arm transformed into a wing of blue fire. His left arm went untransformed, still wielding a gun, and even with his right arm, the hand went untransformed, staying at the tip of the wing and still wielding the gun.

Alright Mr. Assassin, let's do this. That is, unless you're willing to back away?

As Akira backed away, he noticed that his attack did little to injure his opponent, not only that but as they both back away blue flames covered the wound and in mere seconds the wound has completely disappeared. It seems he can confirm that that’s the function of flames where it heals wounds, a Logia perhaps? Regardless, Akira have to use Haki since it is a devil fruit user now if he wanted to beat the man in front of him. As the King slowly got back to the seat, Akira felt annoyed – he didn’t plan for this to happen. He would have to deal fatal injuries for sure. As Vash decided to throw his pistols away, Akira almost knew why - as the man simply retrieve another pair of guns from the holster. Soon afterwards, Vash started to transform, having talons for legs and wings for his right arm, like a bird in flames. That pretty much allows Akira to figure out that Vash is a Zoan user, not a Logia - or at least he hope that's the case. Regardless of what happen, Akira decided to try and pressure the man more for an opening.

This leads to Akira temporarily sheathing his weapon, perhaps surprising the man for a bit. Immediately spinning around, Akira unsheathes his katana, coating his weapon with Haki as he fires a circular airblade in a clockwise direction, aiming to hit both Vash and the King. Immediately after doing so, Akira moved in order to make sure he didn’t become a standing target for Vash to shoot at, running towards the direction of the King.

Vash stood half-transformed, waiting to see if the murderer would, as Vash wanted him to, back away. However, not only did the murderer not reply to Vash, he did not comply with his actions either. Sheathing his katana and then unsheathing it rapidly in an Iaido-esque swing, the murderer unleashed a flying slash at Vash. The King, who, albeit out of the woods, was still exhausted and certainly not strong enough, or in a good enough state, to avoid the murderer's attacks. And since the King was behind Vash, Vash could not avoid either. He had no choice but to deal with the attack head on. Jumping forward, Vash rushed straight into the flying slash and then kicked forward with his right leg. The talon, black with Busou-shoku no Haki, clashed with the flying slash. The clash was powerful, rocking the King's throne room. But, it did not last long. Using great strength, Vash snap-crushed the flying slash with his talon, dispersing it.

I think you keep using the wrong calcs.

With the flying slash dispersed, Vash rushed forward. As he was running forward, he fired from both of his guns. The firing seemed random. Some of the bullets were aimed at the murderer, some of the bullets were aimed at other bullets, and some of the bullets were aimed at the floor, the ceiling, and the walls. When any of the bullets hit any surface, they bounced right off, changing their trajectories in a complex gunshot sequence that was nigh impossible to keep up with for someone not experienced with Gunslinging. After a few direction changes and with different timings, eight powerful bullets sought the murderer's body, some his abdomen, some his shoulders, some his thighs and knees. Invisible Busou-shoku no Haki coursed through the bullets, empowering them significantly.

Multishot: When dual-wielding two guns, Vash rapidly shoots as many as a dozen bullets. By timing his shots perfectly, some of the latter-fired bullets can even hit some of the first-fired ones, redirecting them into a complicated shot that can hit a target from multiple directions, or hit multiple targets at the same time. Due to the complexity and the timing of these shots, this is a technique that only the best gunslingers can perform.

As Vash dealt with the air blade, having needed to stand in-between the air blade and the King, the remaining part of the air blade hit the walls of the room, damaging the throne room and threatening to collapse under. Half of the room support behind them was already damaged and it would take the other half of the room to be damaged for the throne room to start collapsing. Soon after, both Vash and Akira have gotten much closer to each other with the former also moving forward, now in his transformed state. Having anticipated Vash to do this, Akira uses his Haki to improved his reaction time, he would need to get closer to Vash to properly deal with the bullets and that it is much safer than being in a distance. As Vash moved to aim his dual pistols at Akira, the Assassin immediately stops, using the momentum to quickly spin around, his katana coated in jet black Haki once more as he suddenly generates a massive tornado around him. This tornado main purpose wasn’t to truly defeat Vash, but rather to deal with the incoming bullets by using the wind to re-direct the bullet trajectory, as the tornado’s wind is powerful enough. Its secondary purpose is to completely ravage the throne room which will definitely cause the ceiling to collapse down as the throne room is more or less very close to completely collapsing down, making it a serious threat to be dealt with if Vash wants to ensure the King does not get crushed by the falling ceiling, if not the tornado.

The bullets are likely to dissipate the tornado, but it would have already serve its purpose, changing its direction will also change the bullet redirection that Vash will not be able to control without having to shoot again. This means that the bullets may even redirect wrongly and result in hitting the wrong target. However, some of the bullets will eventually make its way to Akira, with two of the bullets landing on the back of his shoulder but with slightly lesser potency. Lodging straight at the shoulder which cause Akira a lot of pain, this time the damage was much more severe seen as he even coughed out blood. Having no choice but to take the chance of the tornado dissipating to take a powerful step forward, now completely closing into Vash at point blank. Performing thirteen flurry of skewers at the same time, his katana still coated in Haki – Akira attempted to surprise and strike at all possible vital organs that comes across his mind, mainly the head, heart and his arms with one strike each. If successfully, Akira would have dealt a very lethal blow and positioned himself between Vash and the King.

One gunshot after another, with speed that made it look like there was a machine gun in use, Vash fired a number of bullets. Redirecting off of one another and off of various surfaces in the room, Vash caught the murderer in a highly complex shot. With no escape, the murderer spun around, swinging his katana and unleashing a powerful tornado of slicing winds. The clash was nigh instantaneous, and the tornado dispersed. Blood squirted from the murderer's shoulder, two of the bullets having pierced through the tornado. At the same time, the throne room started to give in from the attack, and Vash knew there was not much time left. When the murderer pushed off of the ground and dashed toward Vash, intent on ripping through him with one powerful attack, Vash knew it was time to get serious.

He intercepted the murderer, dashing straight toward him, aiming to clash. Just as the murderer was about to strike with his katana, Vash's eyes suddenly glowed red. The murderer was using Kenbun-shoku no Haki, but Vash was using something much, much greater. The ability to see shortly into the future. He knew where the first of 13 strikes would come, and he intercepted it with the wing clad in black Busou-shoku no Haki. Positioning the wing in front of the first incoming stab, the katana pierced the wing. It looked like the murderer's attack was a success, but by giving the wing to the attack, Vash interrupted the attack, preventing the other 12 strikes.

Just as the katana pierced the wing, Vash fired two more bullets raging with black Busou-shoku no Haki, one from each of his two guns. Still using Future Sight, Vash was able to see how the murderer would attempt to react, despite the fact that they were at point-blank range, and the katana was still stuck inside the wing. Even if the first bullet was dealt with, Vash would use Future Sight to increase the likelyhood of the second bullet connecting, going for the murderer's right thigh. If successful, Vash hoped to decrease the murderer's mobility greatly.

Futureshot: Vash fires a bullet that is straightforward and easy for the target to avoid. By using Future Sight, Vash is able to then predict how the target will move to avoid the first bullet, and then proceeds to fire a second bullet. This second bullet will not only be placed to hit the target at their new location, but it will also be fired in the shadow of the first bullet, making it extremely hard to see.

Akira would attempt to take out Vash and quickly get to the King, however Vash would use his wings to stop Akira’s attack, sacrificing the wing in the process – which probably would not matter too much given the regeneration Vash has. Regardless, Vash would use the opportunity to shoot Akira at point blank during the attack, preventing the Assassin from being able to react properly with the wings obscuring the vision, however Akira could easily figure what would be the likely course of action – Immediately taking a couple of steps back as he turns his body slightly around, lowering himself just as Vash would fire the first shot, causing the first bullet to only slightly graze the Assassin’s face, the second shot that followed up however, hit his right thigh, causing immense pain – yet Akira would attempt to make use of the fact that the katana being stuck onto the wing to attempt a breakthrough. Biting through the pain, Akira would have to do something before the throne room completely collapses and he have to get away from it as soon as possible. As he already stood back and lowered his back, this allowed Akira to perform a kick from the low angle to the sword. Applying Haki through the leg to the sword in an attempt to kick forward, with the wing stabbed in place, the next attack would likely break through the wing with relative ease, and that aims for the man’s head – thus should he dodge given that the King is behind him as well, the King would also be impaled by the sword.

Regardless of the attack, the throne room is collapsing, and that Akira have no choice but to leave the room before any attempts of capturing Akira could be done. After all, the throne room is collapsing and if it did, Vash may be unlikely to revive the King if he were to be crushed under the throne room, one of the insurance Akira have when he first uses the circular air blade to ensure his escape and possibly killing the King. Akira would leave in the midst of the chaotic situation as long as Vash would be busy with the throne room ceiling collapsing down. Should the King survive, Akira would have no choice but to take the loss, and perhaps plan the next assassination when Vash leaves the island…

Description: The user drops his weapon and quickly follow up with a kick to the sword's base, propelling the weapon towards the direction in which the kick does, and then immediately follow up with either another weapon in hand or unarm attacks. Depending on where the weapon lands, one may have to fight unarm momentarily till the weapon is recovered. Can be used as a surprise attack or even distraction. The murderer's sharp katana stabbed through Vash's wing and was trapped. Counterattacking, Vash managed to shoot the murderer's thigh, which would decrease his mobility for the remainder of the battle. However, the battle wouldn't go on for much longer. Vash's eyes glowed and his Future Sight showed him that the murderer was about to kick the katana, aiming to push it through the wing. With that knowledge, Vash reacted. Dropping the gun in his other hand, Vash grabbed the blade just as the murderer was about to kick the pommel of the hilt. Blue flames were surrounding Vash's hand, and black Busou-shoku no Haki clad it. Due to the rather significant different in physical strength, in Vash's favor, Vash managed to prevent the sword from being pushed through. He tilted his head a little bit as well, just in case, and a cut was left on the side of his neck, but that was all.

With the throne room collapsing, and the murderer running away, Vash turned and went for the King. The throne room came crashing down, engulfing everything in sight.

A good minute or so later, a mountain of rubble started to shake, and was then blown apart. Vash, with his wings enlarged significantly from his Wing Point, was seen protecting the King. Between the size of Vash's enlarged wings, his physical strength which was able to throw houses and icebergs, and his healing ability, Vash was able to protect the King from the falling boulders. Engulfed in the flames of the Phoenix, the King was, at this point, pretty much recovered. As for Vash, sweating a little bit from the short but intense encounter, transformed back into his human form and wiped his sweat away from his forehead.

Phew, that was close... but, I guess you're alive, so all's well that ends well.

Vash said, giving the King a smile. Absolutely exhausted from everything that he had just witnessed, the King sighed and fell into a sitting position, trying to catch his breath and clear his head.

What in the world was that all about...

The King said. Vash chuckled, while the murderer left. And so for now, the King was left alive to see another day.
