Rules and Guidelines​

Rule 1. Roles will be received through PM. Questions related to the role or game need to be directed through the PM with the Host. If the Host is unable to answer a specific question a coach may be approached.

a) Read your roles, make sure you understand them. Hosts are more than happy to explain how they imagine powers would be played and want to be sure everyone understands before they find out it was something totally different. Ask about anything you don't understand. If you are entirely new to Mafia please do not hesitate to ask questions.​

Rule 2. After your death scene has been posted, you may not post again until the end of the game or if you are revived. (Important note: In Town Of Salem Mafia you will have the chance to write a Death note. More information regarding this will be in the forum mechanics thread.)

a) Hosts can decide if they would like to have the "Opting out of Dead Chat so you can be a sub" option available for their game*.​

Rule 3. You're not allowed to quote personal messages from the host or anything else from the PM. Communication with the Host is not to be used as part of the game play. If there is something that needs to be cleared up it will be up to the Host to post the clarification. Pretending to quote the host is also a punishable offense and is not tolerated.

Rule 4. Cheating: You are NOT allowed to discuss the game outside of the game thread, dead chat or respective player PMs. If you see anyone talking about a Mafia game outside of the thread please notify the host or respective section Coaches, DO NOT respond to any player trying to talk to you about the game outside of the section, and simply report them for doing so.

Rule 5. If a situation arises where these rules are ambiguous or incomplete in any way, what the Host says will go. If you have any questions or comments, please PM the Host rather than posting it in the game thread.

Rule 6. The game thread is only used to discuss the ongoing game. PM the host if you have any questions.

Rule 7. Do not post the role given to you in the game thread, (this is relative to Rule #3). You are however allowed to say who you are, unless Host has specified a no claiming rule.

Rule 8: Spam will not be tolerated and will be reported instantly, all posts not following Thriller Bark Guidelines will be deleted.

Rule 9: If you are inactive during ANY phase you will be replaced or Mod-Killed, if a substitute is unavailable.

Rule 10: Editing messages is not allowed and if caught doing so multiple times the player will be replaced or Mod-killed.


*Opting out of Dead Chat so you can be added as a sub rules:
1.) You will be allowed to send one message to the dead chat through your Role PM, this message will be given to any party that needs it.
2.) You may also complete any other action typical of dead chat in the case relevant roles i.e. Medium are in the game. You will also be given any relevant messages.
3.) You can not sub once you have been added to dead chat.
4.) Only Towns & Independents can be added to the sub list, scum in groups will be directly added to dead chat.
5.) Any mention of information you received from your prior role that enters the game outside of normal means, will automatically earn you a modkill & a strike (Do not try Shottie and Chris Mic).

Behavior and Etiquette​

Behavior: The Town of Salem game thread or section is not a place to have a roast session or flame war, you're not allowed as per Thriller Bark Guidelines to engage each other in such a manner. If any rules are broken they will be reported to the section coaches and if it continues to affect games negatively the host reserves the right to immediately replace the player or players responsible for such behavior. Players who engage in this sort of behavior will be warned and given strikes.

Game-Throwing: Game- throwing is when a player intentionally tries to lose the game, or affects their team's chances of winning a game. Game- Throwing affects the integrity of the game and the Town of Salem section. Game- throwing is a serious offense and the player (or players) who do this will be replaced or mod-killed and receive a strike.
