This is a thread to discuss and share wishes, speculations and theories about the next Strawhat Nakama.


Here I am going to list famous Strawhat pattern theories
Grandline Nakamas followed the famous MFMM pattern
M Zoro, Chopper
F Nami, Robin
M Usopp, Franky
M Sanji, Brook

Thats why many expect also the NW Nakamas will follow these patterns.
(This theory was actually Upgrades multiple times)
Currently there are 4 Devil Fruit user among the Strawhats. The names of their 4 Devil Fruits are actually combinations of 2 numbers.
  • Gomu - 5/6
  • Hito - 1/10
  • Hana - 2/7
  • Yomi - 4/3
Thats why many expect a Devil Fruit user will join, And that the Name His Devil Fruit is a combination of 8 and 9.
-> Yako Yako no Mi or Koya Koya no Mi
The Chinese Zodiac consist of 12 animals by adding the legend of the Legend there are actually 13. Right now there can be assigned one of these 13 animals to the Strawhats. Thats why many expect new Nakamas can be assigned to the remaining animals.

Besides Carrot also Momo also has great chances to join. Carrot can Join as LO and Momo as Cabin Boy.

I know many hate Momo, but him oining the crew perfectly fits plotwise.
  • He would follow the path of his dad
  • Zoro already started to train him
  • Robin is the only one able to teach him the old language
  • To learn more about his powers he needs to meet Vegapunk
On top of this both Carrot and Momo fit very well in the MFMM and Chinese Zodiac pattern theory I listed

I like the Alphabet pattern a lot.

A B - Brook
C D - Chopper
E F - Franky
G H - Gastino, Hancok, Hiyori
I J - Jinbe
K L - Luffy
M N - Nami
O P - Pudding, Pedro (some people still think he's alive), Perona
Q R - Robin
S T - Sanji
U V - Usopp
W X - ??
Y Z - Zoro

It would fit in with the other patterns.

Personally, I don't hate any character to be in straw hats considering they're being in the ship as alley or crew member is all the same if they're gonna be in chapters. I don't really think it makes a lot of difference joining or not joining at this point knowing straw hats traveling with a lot of new type of people now.

These are the good points you made about about momo, these can not be considered as forced reasoning if he really did join the crew cuz he still is nowhere prepared to be true hire of his father position, Oda also tried to make him adapt with straw hats, like looking up Luffy as a true leader, swordsman like Zoro, perv like Sanji and so on

Carrot for me simply cuz she's with straw hats for two arcs, her dream is travel around the world... Oda even made her get along with very well with crew members so she being in the crew also make a lot of sense

Jinbei might be the last one, but Oda keeps other characters as wildcards.
Tama and Linlin? Way too possible, even talked with my rl friend (anime only watcher) about Tama becomming possible nakama.
And no the pattern are there to be broken imho! So much also pointing to Perona4Nakama and Carrot.

Vivi will join EoS imho or close to EoS

For me Jinbei oficially joined at the end of WCI.

It is already speculated that Tamas Devil Fruit will be called Tama Tama no Mi.
You saw the DF pattern theory in the OP?
Some speculated that Hito only stands for 1 and not 1,10.
Which ends up with having 0,8,9,10 (0 was left out because there was already the 10).

10,0 = Tama

Honestly at this point what's more solid for me it's Luffy statement in the beginning of the series of how many crew members he wished.

If he will have only those 10 people (excluding himself) then the last one would be Vivi, after Reverie. Jimbei was the only person besides her that had an open spot for the crew whenever they wanted to join, and imho she will flee with Sabo and join Luffy after Wano arc is over.

well Tama is 8 and Vivi also knows basics, she was working in "stealth/undercover".
