For those who still don't think Vergo-San is special, what if I told you he is based on an immortal cult figure and legendary soldier in Vietnamese folklore?

One such story relates to a couple living in a small village in the countryside. Even though they had been married for many years, they had no children and the wife had never fallen pregnant. One day, when she went to the fields to work, she saw a huge footprint in the ground. I was enormous and she put her foot in the footprint to see how many times her own foot would fit into it.

The following day, she discovered that she was pregnant. However, the baby did not arrive in 9 months but after twelve months she had a baby boy. He grew up strong but neither spoke, laughed or cried. He neither responded to his parents or the other children in the village.

When the boy was just 3 years old, the country was invaded and all the villages were destroyed. The King sought help from the people to form an army and the boy spoke for the first time, telling his mother that he wanted to join the army. His mother called the King’s messenger to the house after she recovered from the surprise of hearing him speak. The young boy told the messenger to tell the King that if he gave him an iron horse, stick and armour, (see Iron body) he would drive the invaders away.

The messenger returned to the King and gave him the message. The things were prepared but in the meanwhile he ate a great deal and outgrew his clothes. Neighbours brought him more food and new clothes; he looked like a 20- year-old. The messenger returned with the things the boy requested and he rode away to battle. He attacked and used his iron stick until it broke while his horse breathed fire on the enemy. He pulled up a bamboo tree to continue the fight.

The enemy retreated to its homeland while the boy and his horse went to the top of a mountain known as Soc. He bowed to his parents and all the villagers before riding his horse up to heaven and was never seen again. Bamboo now has yellow stripes to represent the fire that the horse blew and ponds are regarded as the marks of the horse’s hooves. The village where the boy was born is called Saint Giong.

Saint Giong is one of the four immortals, four cult figures worshipped by the Vietnamese people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Four_Immortals

This video explains in detail how Trebol and Pica are based on two of these figures to further soldiify this connection

As we also should know by now, Vergo is a former Germa Soldier, and this video by a native japanes person goes on to explain why this is so. Remember Saint Going as a boy not smiling, laughing or talking (just like Germa soldiers)? The army that was attacking Saint Going's village was from the north (see Germa originates from North Blue)

Also check out my previous theory as it relates to his inspiration where his kicking of Sanji is very much similar to the scenes in Undisputed 3 where Boyka broke the leg of his opponent with his own broken shin. https://***********************/for...tist-and-action-actor-star-scott-adkins.5416/

Boyka + Saint Going = Vergo

It takes 5 year for Germa soldiers to grow into adulthood (see similarities with Saint Giong). Vergo was the first germa prototype but escaped (we don’t even know what role Trebol might’ve played in this)

Vergo casually breaks Sanji badly, Sanji thinks he is alright when he is doing a proper block and Vergo attacks with the ankle. Wrong! :sneaky:

then just casually does some roundhouse swipe and sees if he can hit Sanji with it infusing some RYOU

Vergo was just playing with Sanji and showing off this shit before it was even cool

Vergo is far from a scrub. I mean, his CoA was on point and don't forget his blowgun that uses his breath as ammunition.

From what we saw, Vergo was most likely the strongest executive of Doflamingo Pirates

Law isn't a weak character tho. :datea:
It's just the hax pwoer of his df. I explained it already https://thrillerbark.com/threads/vergo-and-the-punk-hazard-arc-is-based-and-modelled-off-of-the-terminator-vergo-is-destined-to-come-back-greater-than-ever-part-1.1880/

I mean Oden looked much worse than Vergo going by this metric. The barrier guy did not so much as look at Oden and spoke to him like he was just some third rate punk compared to his barrier. Law used an island-sized slash that probably took 10 years of his life lol :thonkcool: , and Vergo's defeat marked the beginnig of a new era, Law held a huge speech about it. Vergo was the bulwark against the new era from taking off in the first place!

I wonder about that, to be honest. I suspect Oda's gearing up to have us question every assumption that's been made thus far by the characters and readers alike, so I'm betting we'll see cases showing the opposite very soon. It won't simply amount to questions of power, though; there's more to strength than raw might after all.

In Law and Vergo's case, I imagine it was -- as Zoro put it during his fight w/ Pica -- a simple matter of who possessed the greater will. But we'll probably bear witness to many instances in the future where many characters will demonstrate the benefits of wielding a more finessed, "softer" approach in battle.

In Vergo's case, that could spell both good and bad things: good in the sense that future upgrade of his, including those I mentioned to you before, may allow him to avoid suffering defeat in the same way he did against Law; bad in a sense that I'm expecting the good guys to get rematches/victories over enemies they couldn't defeat themselves in the past, with a stronger, more skilled Admiral White Snake aka Smoker fated to once again duel Vergo. Only this time, his haki and/ormastery over his df will have increased to the point he can pull an Akainu by countering damage from haki users.

Katakuri's own artful dodging abilities were likely another preview of what's to come: logias pulling a Luffy by combining haki and df powers to strengthen one's defenses by absorbing damage....ie a combined hard/soft approach that leads impacts sliding off/through, be it by means of haki or df abilities like Law's.

Going back to that Oden/Barrier Guy ( can't bother to remember/look up his name, fuck that guy ), I figure we will see somebody manage to cut through Barto's barrier, though I'm unsure as to whether this'll be something we'll see more EOS. Cuz I fully suspect one of the BB pirates will be gunning for not only his but Jozu's diamond fruit in order to truly attain the greatest defense against swords.

This follows from three pieces of corroborative evidence

(1) No plasma discharge

There is no electrical arc being generated from the attack onto BM like there clearly is against Vergo

which as you see there is a corona discharge enveloping around Vergo indicating that Lawis generating a greater electrical potential resulting from the greater electrical energy/output

the greater electrical current makes the air highly ionic and charged the creates the glow of plasma that we’re seeing in Vergo’s case but not in the other instances

BM does not feature this aspect of the attack yet it prompts her to scream at the top of her lungs in agony.

(2) The sfx is different in BM’s case

BM is different from all these cases in that she does not feature the same sfx. All but in BMs case the sfx is the same

In Doflamingo’s case his internal repairing ability renders the attack less effective. Law could not generate the same discharge of plasma presumably because he only had one arm at the time, and so his attack output was limited even though he had every bit of intent to maximise on the attack at that point.

(3) No exclamation marks

Even though BM was clearly in agony there were no exclamation marks in her panel

Conclusion

Big Mom endured an attack that’s less lethal than all of the above, let alone the one Vergo powered through without howling in pain. Vergo was pushing Law to maximise his attack, whereas Law at this point seems to have it figured out, is not stressing it in testing out the range and efficacy of his abilities. Second time around he uses countershock it will produce a much greater effect

There is simply a different make up of the body and mind that characterises Vergo. That much is becoming clearer for each chapter

Only thing that differentiate vergo to big mom is her OP devil fruit and durability.

I rate her durability power pretty high in my opinion even G4 luffy struggled against her so that tells you where big mom powers lie .

It doesn't occur to you that Laws attack might have become stronger after few arcs? But like Fallen Prince said, BM has an insane durability hence the portrayal variance in those panels.

I offered 3 points of evidence

what is there to suggest that? So if he has an island sized slash, you think it is going to be country sized now? Clearly Oda is not pushing for Law to get his hax stronger or it would mean he is pushing for contintal sized slashes or what you figure? He is haxxed enough as it is
