Birdland
Birdland is a Sky Island in the Grand Line, and is home to a world-renowned species of predatory, highly-aggressive, hostile, dangerous birds. These birds are phenomenal combatants while in the air, due to their exceptional maneuverability in the air. Some have tried to make Birdland their own, as it could prove to be a valuable strategical Sky Island, and some have even tried to conquer, subdue and weaponize the birds that inhabit it - but none have succeeded so far.

While she was glad she had special modifications done to the boat courtesy of Lindbergh & his team, Jade still wondered why they had to use something as violent as the Knock-Up Stream to get to Sky Islands. If something went wrong she wouldn't be able to help as she was below deck. The Dwarf was way too small and light to be out in the open when flying so high and fast, she would immediately be knocked off by the wind and there wasn't really a way to secure her to the mast with her small body; and that wouldn't help anyway as she still wouldn't be able to do anything.

Why did it have to be a target on a Sky Island...None of the others seemed to be in places like this. During her last meeting with other members of the Revolutionary Army; they had a pile of 'wanted posters' from a group called Cross Guild. Suddenly appearing, they started issuing bounties to World Government members and certain other individuals; starting a sort of wave of people going after targets. There was also an imminent battle between the Silver Vampirates, their allies & members of the Revolutionaries against the Government due to the former declaring they are going to execute several marines. Jade had got angry over the idea of them killing people just doing their job and seeing it as going against the ideals of the organisation. She stormed out of the meeting after grabbing a random poster and using it as an excuse to stay out of the battle; but was now coming to regret it due to who she had picked.

Way above the clouds, and made of them, were islands that are home to a race of humans with small wings, wonderful creatures like dragons, odd dial technology and various other impossible things. These places were called Sky Islands and most of the world did not believe they existed, thinking they were just locations from a story or rumors. Although Jade had never been to one, she knows about them due to several members of the Army ending up on one after a mission. With their testimony and a few experiments by Lindbergh, one of the Revolutionaries main scientists; they came up with a hypothesis on how to get there.

Unfortunately it involved riding a massive column of pressurized water to a distance far above the normal clouds. Knock-Up Streams occur all over the world, but most are unpredictable or can only be narrowed down to a (still very) large area/timeframe. The Grand Line & New World easily has the most as these 'spouts' are super rare in the Blue Seas, and might not even go the same height as ones in the former seas even when they do occur. The main problem wasn't finding one, it was surviving traveling up using it. Even if a ship could take the impact from the water and the constant stream as it went up, there might not even be anything to land on nearby; and most of the clouds were solid enough that a boat would probably be destroyed/heavily damaged due to the punishment from the stream itself and the sudden stop.

To counteract this problem, the Revolutionaries had reinforced most parts of the Sea Pixie and has put a few stabilizers and other systems to try and give them some control. But they couldn't do a massive amount as the ship still had to use it to go a very high distance, too many modifications could end up hindering or causing other problems that would be difficult to fix in the moment. To rectify the other problem, finding one(and the island itself); they had various groups gather information and find a place that matched the small amount of information the organisation had already found.

Getting lucky, someone was able to find a man who had survived "a trip to the sky and massive hostile birds"; who then gave them somewhere to start looking. It had taken a few attempts to find the right spot, as the Sea Pixie had actually seen the pillar from a distance once and then it went off in another location a few days later. Jade's navigators and other experts were eventually able to run tests and figure out where the next one was going to be; which was when she had gone below deck as soon as they arrived as it could happen every minute.

Sat in front of a window, the Dwarf hadn't been able to see anything since the sudden shaking and lift that signaled them being in the right place for the Knock-Up Stream; the only thing visible was wind and water. Sighing, she just had to trust her crew and Lindbergh as there was nothing she could do, and avoiding the people that were also hiding or was doing jobs, she makes her away from this obscured view to a small table that was setup up for her a short distance from it. On top was the poster she had picked at semi-random; she didn't really want to fight anyone human so had chosen the first one that didn't seem to look like a person.

1364

Even with the information network of her organisation, Jade hadn't been able to find much information about these birds. Obviously they were dangerous as they had quite the high 'bounty', and were on a Sky Island; but they was in the dark about anything else. One of the creatures on the wanted poster looked like it was on fire, but the Warrant Officer wasn't going to use that as a way to figure out what else these birds could do; she didn't even know if there was only 3 so was possibly pointless even if she could work it out.

The walls around her shake slightly more and then come to a stop.
Are we there? That was a very gentle and sudden landing if we are. Just as she thinks this, everything goes weightless and her feet rise off the floor. "Everyone brace!" Working out what was happening in seconds, Jade only has time to give a quick warning and grab the table; which was nailed down. Anything not secured, quickly floats to the roof and she can feel the entire ship start falling faster and faster.

Without any other way to check, she activates her Observation Haki to see what was going on above deck. Everyone was in a panic, hardly anyone was managing to do anything as it was taking everything they had just to hold onto the nearest part of the boat; the systems designed to help give them control either not working or not doing enough to help. Unable to stop herself from shouting, which only some people close to her pay any attention to for obvious reasons, Jade watches multiple people go flying off the boat as they were unable to hold on or got caught by a sudden gust of wind. With great effort, she tears her 'gaze' from her crew and looks towards the ground, on what is hopefully a Sky Island.

It quickly comes into view, what looks like a normal forest island but stops at a sheer edge on every side and is surrounded by clouds. Unable to brace much more than she already is and now majorly regretting coming here or at least not finding an alternate way, Jade just has to wait for the inevitable crash.

A sky island high up above the clouds, forested by nature, surrounded by a sea of white.

BANG

An otherwise serene day was interrupted by a loud, banging noise as what could only be descried as a ship, came crashlanding onto the sky island. It bounced off of the ground a number of times and crashlanded a few more times, flipping and tumbling until eventually, it came to a stop looking like a total wreck. The crew inside were either dead or completely dazed from the harsh landing - it was anyone's guess. The loud noises from the crashlanding and the subsequent flips and tumbles, stirred disarray in the forest. Many an animal ran away from the noise, while the birds fled the treetops, thinking an apocalypse was coming. It was as if the whole island and its ecosystem, were simultaneously awakened from their late morning nap.

The camera split into 8 screens, showing 8 large, silhouetted creatures, each perched in a different part of the island, each sleeping. As the noise reached them, all 8 of the silhouetted creatures slowly opened their eyes. The rulers have awakened.

The camera switched back to the scene of the wrecked ship, which had come to a stop in the middle of a forest.

Drum Island Sometime Ago...
The inn was warm, a welcome contrast to the frozen hell Alaric had just survived outside. He sat near the fire, trying to get some feeling back into his legs when the door creaked open. In stepped a small figure dusted with snow, hands on her hips and a smirk already on her face. “So… you’re the guy who rolled himself into a snowball, huh?” she asked. Alaric looked up, rubbing the back of his neck with a mix of embarrassment and irritation. “I was insulating my legs,” he replied flatly. “It worked. Kind of.”

The dwarf stepped closer, her expression amused. “That’s gotta be the weirdest survival tactic I’ve seen—and I’ve seen a guy sleep inside a sea lion once.” Alaric snorted faintly, shifting in his seat. “Must’ve been cozy. You always open with jokes or just think I’m that pitiful?” She grinned, undeterred. “Maybe both. I’m Jade. Jade Belle. Revolutionary Army.” That got his attention. His eyes sharpened with interest, though he gave her a once-over and added, “Didn’t think you’d be so... small.”

“Hey!”
she huffed with exaggerated offense. “I’ve headbutted Marines taller than this fireplace. Don’t let the size fool you.” Then she eyed him curiously. “You got a name, Snowman?”

“Alaric,”
he replied with a subtle grin. “And for the record, I didn’t ask for the snow.” Jade laughed—an easy, genuine sound that warmed the space almost as much as the fire. “You’re alright, Alaric. Stick around. I’ve got a feeling we’ll be needing that strength of yours real soon.” His smile softened, the flicker of purpose returning to his eyes as he gave a small nod. “...Maybe.”

The Present...

Alaric stood near the ship’s prow as the Sea Pixie rocked violently, his frame braced against the reinforced railing. The roar of water thundering beneath them was deafening, and the sudden jolt that launched the vessel skyward was something no training could prepare for. He gritted his teeth, every muscle in his body tense as he dug his heels into the deck. The Knock-Up Stream was unlike anything he’d ever experienced—like being punched by the sea itself, and then dragged screaming into the sky.

He glanced around through squinted eyes, taking in the chaos: ropes whipping, barrels tumbling, crew members clinging on for dear life. “Hold on!” he shouted, his voice cutting through the wind like a cannon blast. He lunged toward a younger recruit who was nearly swept off his feet, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him against a mast just as a gust threatened to rip him from the ship.

His thoughts were a mess—part adrenaline, part anger. Why the hell did it have to be Sky Islands? he wondered. He didn’t even believe they were real until Lindbergh laid out the plans. Now they were punching a hole into the sky with barely-controlled science and desperate faith. He had no way of checking on Jade. She was below deck, likely gripping the floor or a bolted-down table with that stubborn glare of hers.

They’d argued before the launch. Not out of dislike, but concern—Alaric didn’t trust the science, didn’t trust the idea of being shot into the heavens on a death geyser. She brushed it off, saying Lindbergh had done the math. “You’re not scared of a little wind, are you?” she had teased. “No,” he’d replied. “Just dying in stupid ways.” But he still came. He always would.

The ascent shifted violently. Then, for a split second, everything went quiet. A weightless calm. Alaric’s stomach dropped. He knew that silence too well—it was the calm before the fall.

“BRACE!” Jade’s voice echoed in his head, faint but present. He didn’t need Observation Haki to feel her will, her warning.

He wrapped his arms around the mainmast as gravity took hold again, and the ship began to plummet. He heard screaming, saw men and women wrenched into the sky like ragdolls. He couldn’t help them. He couldn’t do anything. It was like Marineford all over again—when strength meant nothing against the elements, when even titans fell.

The clouds parted, revealing the Sky Island below—a lush canopy of trees atop floating earth, surrounded by endless cloud-sea. It was beautiful. Terrifying. Final.

Alaric didn’t close his eyes as the ship made impact. He never did.

CRUNCH.

Darkness briefly threatened the edges of his vision. Then, silence. Stillness.

He exhaled slowly. The ship wasn’t completely destroyed. They were alive—for now. But as he pushed himself upright and surveyed the battered crew, bloodied and bruised, Alaric knew this was only the beginning.

He muttered to himself, voice low and grim, “This better be worth it, Jade.”

[BIRDLAND]
Host Post 1 - @Aro @Ziosa

Birdland is a legendary Sky Island suspended deep within the Grand Line’s upper atmosphere—a place where the air thins, the clouds burn, and the winds shear steel. Shrouded in swirling cloud banks and violent jet streams, it is a natural fortress that exists beyond maps and above reason. But geography alone does not make Birdland feared—it is the beasts that rule its skies.

The island is home to a unique breed of sentient, hyper-aggressive birds, each large enough to shadow ships and deadly enough to wipe them from the sky. These are not wild animals. They are apex predators that exhibit frightening intelligence, coordinated pack strategies, and a territorial dominance that rivals entire naval fleets. They do not tolerate trespassers—they eliminate them.

Witnesses, though few and scattered, describe terrifying encounters with eight distinct silhouettes that haunt the skies above Birdland. One tells of a broad-winged brute with a crimson crown and talons like anchors, known to plummet from the clouds with the force of a falling meteor. Another speaks of a sleek, icy predator, gliding silently before diving in sharp, calculated strikes—its movements cold and clinical, like a surgeon cutting through clouds.

There are reports of a slender, long-tailed shape slicing through the sky in high-speed arcs, often seen at the heart of storms or circling flaming wreckage. Others describe a ground-hugging stalker, built like a fighter, whose jagged frame darts low through cloud cover before snapping bones mid-flight with a brutal downward kick.

High above them all is said to drift a looming phantom, its wings silent, its body still—yet its presence unbearable, as if it’s always watching, always waiting. Then there’s the spindly wraith with bladed feathers that spins through aerial formations like a knife through silk, always attacking from where you least expect.

But none inspire more dread than the two rulers believed to sit at the top of Birdland’s hierarchy. One, a sovereign giant, moves slowly, deliberately, as if time itself bends around its presence. Its silhouette has been mistaken for a small island. The other is a massive abyssal shadow, whose wings stretch wider than any known sky beast, gliding without a sound. It never strikes directly, but its appearance always heralds the coordinated wrath of the others.

No one has ever claimed Birdland. Every attempt has ended the same way: failure, silence, and loss. The birds are not merely defending territory. They are preserving a domain that operates under rules no outsider understands.

Birdland is not a place to explore. It is a place to avoid. A sky ruled by predators, not bound by kings or compasses. A graveyard for ambition, where the clouds themselves grow eyes—and wings.

Due to Jade's durability, she wasn't injured from the impact and would've mitigated most of the damage anyway as she knew it was coming and braced for it. Though the Dwarf wasn't hurt, it took her a few minutes to recover. The chaos of everyone panicking & holding on while she watched with her Observation Haki as they fell combined with the impact and various loud noises made her ears ring and her vision to blur from dust and debris.

Looking around the Warrant Officer's eyes adjust and quickly sees that it wasn't just her vision that stopped her from being able to see; the below deck was now all darkness, the lights having been destroyed by the impact and the windows being blocked by broken wood and other items. She let's her sight adapt a bit longer and then checks on the people who were in the same room as her. Luckily they were all just unconscious and had no major injuries, just some bruises and minor cuts. However even Jade's optimistic mind knew the rest of her crew wouldn't be fully safe from a crash like this, if the casualty list was lower than 30 she would count them as fortunate.

Easily making her way through the half-destroyed room due to her small size, Jade climbs the stairs and opens the door that leads to the main deck. Coming up in what should be the middle of the ship, she finds that the Sea Pixie is slightly on its side and the floor is slanted; it had been hard to tell below deck due to all the wood and debris. Looking around she could only see a few other people who had recovered enough to move around, but could happily see there was quite a few others lying/sitting around half-awake and none of them seemed very hurt. Her attention was then drawn to the main mast, or what was left off it.

It had been snapped off about a quarter of the way up and the top part of the remaining wood had split into a slight V shape. Jade could not see the rest of the mast from where she was standing, so it might be somewhere on the ground nearby; but it was also possibly torn off during the fall or sent flying due to the impact so could be anywhere. The rest of the ship ranged from barely damaged to barely holding up, the side of it that had hit the ground had given way and would pretty much be a pile of wood if the rest of the Sea Pixie wasn't resting on it. The small Revolutionary could see other members of the crew were also inspecting the ship and taking inventory, jotting notes down on several notepads that had somehow survived. A few people notice her and give various greetings depending on how they were feeling, the ones who were not hurt and walking around gave waves or thumbs up; the large amount still not on their feet tried to nod or just made a small movement from where they lay on the floor.

Wanting to get a quick update of their situation, Jade activates her Observation Haki and otherwise makes her whereabouts known; trying to locate either Sophie or Alaric/making them come to her.

Birdland Island #2
@Ziosa @Hiei

Smoke still curled from the cracked wood as Alaric stepped over a broken railing, his boots crunching on shattered planks and splintered deck. The sharp scent of burnt lacquer and singed rope lingered in the air, mixing with the faint sweetness of sky-tree pollen. It reminded him too much of fire. Too much of Drum Island. Too much of what came after.

The Sea Pixie had crashed at a tilt, slouched sideways like a dying beast. The mast was gone—just a jagged stump left behind—and what used to be a proud ship now looked like a relic torn from a war museum. He could see the cloud sea rolling gently beneath the sky island, teasing them with the illusion of softness. But one misstep and you'd fall through heaven.

His ribs ached. Something was bruised—maybe cracked—but nothing vital. He’d been lucky. A few of the newer recruits? Not so much. He'd helped pull two of them from the wreckage, and their bones bent wrong. He didn't know their names. Just faces from Jade’s roster.

Jade.

Alaric turned toward the midsection of the wreck just as the deck groaned with pressure. And there she was, standing on tilted boards. Her stance was firm, if a little swaying as her Observation Haki reached out.

He made his way toward her, boots thudding against what remained of the Sea Pixie’s mid-deck. “You alive?"

His attention was suddenly be grabbed by the sound of someone approaching. Boots polished but dusted with impact debris. A dark coat pulled tight around his shoulders. One hand rested calmly on the sidearm holstered at his hip. His stride was careful, calculating, almost too measured for someone fresh out of a shipwreck. But what caught Alaric’s attention first wasn’t the man’s face—it was his eyes.

Cold. Precise. Guilty.

Cass “Deadeye” Marston stepped into view like he’d always belonged there, but Alaric knew better. The man joined Jade's squad some time ago and Alaric could tell he carried secrets like weighted coins in his coat. He didn’t speak at first—just scanned the wreck, then gave a curt nod toward Jade and Alaric.

“Commander. Alaric,” Cass said evenly.

Alaric raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t think you’d survive a fall like that."

“I held on,”
Cass replied coolly, brushing a bit of soot from his collar. I always do.”

Alaric just watched.

There was always something behind Cass’s gaze—something unreadable, something off. Maybe it was nothing. Maybe it was just Alaric’s own paranoia, sharpened by too many betrayals and one too many ghosts. But still…

He grunted, turning back toward the jungle ridge. “Doesn’t matter. We’ve got bigger problems.”

Birdland waited. And whatever they’d come here to find it wouldn’t be end without a fight.

The sky darkened as the Sea Pixie crashed, its broken form slouched on the tilted earth. The scent of burnt wood and charred ropes mixed with the sweetness of sky-tree pollen, the stench of chaos and death hanging in the air. As the wreckage settled, the world below seemed still, but the air above was far from quiet. A shift, barely perceptible, stirred the winds.

From the depths of the swirling clouds, a blazing figure emerged—its wings cutting through the air with sharp, jagged precision. The creature moved with a swift, unwavering confidence, its presence igniting the atmosphere. A flash of brilliance, lightning flashing across its form with every beat of its powerful wings. It was a harbinger, a force of nature.

Its eyes, sharp and calculated, scanned the wreckage below. There was no fear in its movements, only a cold sense of command. The air around it crackled with static, as if the very fabric of the sky bowed to its will. It did not need to strike immediately; the bird had ruled the skies for centuries, and its reputation was more than enough to command attention. It was a hunter, but also a judge.

Hovering high above, the bird observed the survivors below with a sharp, unwavering gaze. It wasn’t in a hurry to act, no rush to finish what had already been set in motion. It understood the value of patience—of knowing when to strike and when to wait. This was its domain, and no trespassers would leave without paying the price.

The creature's wings cut through the air once more, sending gusts of wind swirling below. A storm seemed to brew with its every movement, the atmosphere thick with anticipation. It was a living storm, a symbol of power, energy, and raw aggression. Its sharp eyes locked on the survivors, and in that moment, they could feel the weight of its gaze.

With another slow, deliberate motion, the bird adjusted its position. A crackle of energy surged across its wings, as if readying itself for the inevitable. The sky itself seemed to hum in harmony with the bird's will, as if everything in its domain was bound to its power.

Birdland had always been a place of harsh rulership, where the skies were controlled by the most fearsome of creatures. This bird—Zapdos, the Storm Monarch—was the embodiment of that rule. A force of nature, whose very presence signified a storm was on the horizon. Its patience, however, was not infinite.

The survivors below continued to move, unaware of the sharp eyes fixed upon them. But Zapdos had seen enough. It was only a matter of time before it descended, and when it did, there would be no mercy.

The intruders had been marked.

Jade waits near the middle of the half-destroyed ship with her eyes closed, still using her Observation Haki. She senses the Revolutionaries moving around her and below deck, working to fix the chaos that the crash caused and help the ones who were hurt. A faint 'light' at the far back of the ship flickers and then dims until it goes out, signaling that one of her crew has passed away from their injuries; a strong light standing near them bends down for a few moments and then stands up. From the power the Dwarf senses as well as the way they stand, she can tell this was her right-hand man Sophie.

Watching them start to walk towards her, the Warrant Officer focuses her attention elsewhere and immediately senses someone even stronger coming her way from a different direction. Knowing both Alaric and Sophie are on their way, Jade deactivates her Haki; missing a presence above them as it is out of her Colour of Observation range. She opens her eyes and looks up to see a man approaching her

"Yeah, it will take more than a fall like that to kill me" Replying to his question, the Dwarf jumps onto a nearby barrel so she isn't at the same level as people's ankles. Another person reaches them, but it wasn't Sophie. Cass was someone Jade hadn't spoke to much but she of course knew who he was, she gives him a nod back but let's the two of them talk as she can tell the person she was expecting is behind her; recognising the sound of their shoes on the wood of the deck.

Turing around, Sophie stops a few away; her long lavender hair and dark red jacket are covered with a small amount of dust. Although she must have tried wiping it off, there was also a couple of drops of blood on her right sleeve and glove.
"Woodsten just passed away, his lungs was punctured during the crash." Not bothering to greet her leader as Sophie knew the Warrant Officer was watching with Observation Haki when a crewmate died in front of her, she quickly informs Jade who it was.

Although it obviously affected the Dwarf quite a bit, she quickly replies with a question she doesn't really want to ask
"Do you know how many others?"

Sophie closes her eyes, not wanting to answer the question just as much as Jade didn't want to ask it "About 45, with 14 not yet found and 21 very injured." She doesn't say it that loud but projects her voice enough for Alaric and Cass to hear as well.

Going through several emotions quite quickly at the amount of causalities and the chance of it possibly getting higher, Jade gets herself under control and starts giving out commands
"Our priority before we can seriously start looking for the birds is to find out if the alterations actually worked and make sure they will work for the descent back down. If they didn't work, we need to find out why and make sure they are fixed as best we can." Turning away from Sophie and facing towards the front of the ship, she calls out to the other crew members "To all agents that can hear me! If you are injured you can ignore what I am about to say, but if you can move I want an inventory on all surviving supplies and a group to quickly setup a field base either below deck or on the ground near the ship. I won't mention doing a survey of the Sea Pixie as I have already seen several people doing it, but once it is done we need to start repairs as soon as possible; Agent Sophie is also going to check the alterations and stabilizers so several Shipwrights and Scientists should report to her" Jade pauses slightly before continuing "I know most of you would've come even if I hadn't asked, but I appreciate you all anyway and promise we will get home safe"

The voice of the Dwarf is loud enough to carry to most people under the deck and it slightly echoes through the area the Sea Pixie has landed in. Even something in the sky above will make out the words, whether they can understand them or not...

Letting a few moments pass after giving most of the crew orders, Sophie walks to the nearest people to coordinate them and Jade turns to look at Alaric
"Alaric" She waits until his attention is on her before continuing "We need to setup a perimeter, most of the information we got about this place could be wrong or out of date but it is still likely very dangerous anyway. I will check over there and you take the other side, it doesn't have to be that large of an area; just to the edge of the crater or whatever we are in." Part way through talking she points to the treeline that is visible a fair distance from the left side of the boat.

The name Woodsten hits like a stone in Alaric’s gut. He remembered the kid—always eager, always loud, always the first to volunteer for the worst jobs just to prove himself. He swallows hard as Sophie gives the numbers. Forty-five casualties. Fourteen missing. Twenty-one injured. The crash may not have killed him, but this was the kind of aftermath that could haunt a man.

Cass stood quietly a few feet from where Jade was giving her orders, arms folded behind his back, boots planted firm on the scorched deck. His sharp eyes flicked between her, Alaric, and Sophie in clinical assessment—not judgment, just... cataloguing. He didn’t flinch. He’d seen worse, in colder places with quieter screams. But these people weren’t just numbers here—they were the mission’s heartbeat. The crew was Jade’s strength, and keeping them alive was the best way to keep her going.

As Jade finished her orders, Cass gave a curt nod. He didn’t need thanks. Orders were enough. Alaric watched as the crew start to move, shaky at first but slowly finding their rhythm in the chaos. The speech helped—Jade had a way of grounding people, even in hell.

When she calls his name, Alaric turns. His arms are crossed, but his expression is focused, nodding slowly as she points toward the treeline. “Understood. I’ll take two with me, just in case. We’ll sweep the perimeter, mark any potential hazards.” He looks off toward the left side of the crater, eyes narrowing at the faint shimmer of something unnatural in the distant brush. “And if anything’s watching us from the dark, we’ll find it first.”

Cass took a step forward, closer to Jade, catching her eye briefly before speaking—voice low, precise. “I’ll monitor the field base. Coordinate security around the perimeter until Alaric finishes his sweep. I’ll also check our communication equipment. If there's any surviving Den Den tech, I might be able to modify it to send a signal through the ionized air up here.”

Alaric stepped off the broken deck and began making his way down the slope, motioning for two others to follow. As his boots hit the soft soil of Birdland, the tall man mutters under his breath, almost to himself. “Feels like the jungle’s breathing.”

Meanwhile, Cass paused, then glanced skyward—past the fractured canopy, toward the distant shimmer of movement far too large to be natural. “…Something’s still watching. If we’re lucky, it’s just curious.”

Cass didn’t say what they were if they weren’t lucky. He turned sharply on his heel and moved towards a patch of open ground near the ship’s broken flank, where a group of engineers were setting up tarps and organizing crates.

Efficient. Quiet. Controlled.

Just like him.

Above the fractured canopy, the raptor watched.

Keen, unblinking eyes pierced through the battered wreck of the Sea Pixie. It studied the movement below with surgical focus. From its perch atop jagged cliffs, the sentient beast measured every shift and ripple across the crash site. Its feathers crackled faintly with stored energy, but it remained still, a silent storm coiled in golden plumage.

The wrecked ship groaned as survivors scrambled across the ruins, gathering supplies, dragging wounded, shouting orders. Smoke curled into the sky, mixing with the heavy air of Birdland. Death’s scent lingered thick around the crater.

The raptor tilted its head, eyes narrowing.

These ones were not panicked. They moved with grim purpose, patching wounds, salvaging resources, setting up defenses. Even from high above, the beast could read the tension rippling through the figures—honed instincts sharpening their every action.

It flexed its talons against the stone, feeling the crackle of life and death below.

Somewhere in the dense jungle beyond the ship, something ancient stirred. The raptor could hear it. Could feel it breathing. But its attention stayed locked on the crash site for now.

Static built along its wings. Power coiled beneath its skin. It tasted the electricity in the air, sweet and sharp, ready to be unleashed at a thought.

But it waited.

Silent. Patient.

The jungle was watching through its eyes. Judging.

For now, it would let the intruders bleed, rebuild, and hope. Then, when the storm fell, it would see who could endure the fury of Birdland.

The raptor’s gaze burned hotter.

Soon.

Jade nods at his reply and then heads to the front of the ship, all the people that see her give her a wide berth as they recognize the look on her face; having seen them be given bad news many times. The Dwarf had seen many people die during her time in the Revolutionaries and Marines, but could never get used to it due to her personality. They were not just names on a list or subordinates; they were people she ate food with, laughed and joked with, knew their families and had watched many of them grow from a new recruits to powerful warriors fighting for justice.

Standing at the bow of the ship and looking at the debris from her ship that was on the ground, the Revolutionary Officer takes a few moments to mourn; she will spend time when the mission is done to properly do it and have a full list of the fallen, but Jade wouldn't be able to concentrate on even a dangerous mission like this without doing something for the ones that lost their lives. What made this situation even worse was the fact that the fourteen people missing were most likely all the ones that was sent flying off the deck during the ascent and drop, meaning their bodies could be impossible to recover; even an optimist like her knew none of them would survive a fall like that, even if they somehow landed on the sky island rather than the ocean below.

After she felt enough time has passed, the small girl heads to the side of the deck and looks around at the landscape; it being the first opportunity she has had to really take it in. While beautiful, it was also a bit unnerving to see all the clouds and trees growing on them; even the small amount of sky she could see somehow looked odd, as if the blue was somehow closer to them. Although Jade wasn't a botanist, she still didn't think she would recognize the species of the plants she could see, most of the trees were thin but didn't sway in the strong wind and had leaves like nothing she had ever seen before. Adjusting the very large sword on her back, which slightly complains in her mind as it wasn't a normal weapon; the blonde steps off the ship and lets herself fall onto the ground.

Squish

As soon as she lands on the 'ground', Jade's body sinks into it and before she can fully react to landing on a cloud her small size but fairly heavy weight due to her blade causes the white surface to collapse downwards and then rebound.

Boing

Before she can really blink, the cloud catapults Jade upwards into the air; making her go much higher than the broken mast of the Sea Pixie and breaking through a couple 'normal' clouds. While she might've taken the time to do a survey of the land and look at the Sky Island from above, her attention is drawn to something up here with her; something predatory.

Alaric’s mind raced as he caught Jade’s sudden upward arc with the edge of his Observation Haki. His body instinctively tensed, about to spring forward to intercept her descent, but a warning chill ran down his spine—an electric static that wasn’t from the atmosphere. His Haki, stretched wide across the crash site and surrounding jungle, brushed against something vast and feral perched high above them.

It wasn’t just watching. It was judging.

His golden-brown eyes sharpened, his breath slowing. He could feel the raptor’s focus—an overwhelming force coiled in silent menace, its killing intent held back not out of mercy, but out of predatory calculation. Even though it hadn't moved yet, the energy bleeding off it was more than enough to tell Alaric the truth: if it wanted, it could obliterate half of their men in a flash.

Cass, standing a short distance away, noticed the momentary shift in Alaric's stance—a slight drop of the shoulder, a minute tightening of the jaw—and instinctively tracked the man's line of sight upward. His own instincts, honed by years of Cipher Pol training, immediately caught the unnatural stillness in the clouds above. His revolver hand hovered loosely near his coat, casually, like a gunslinger at a bar pretending not to notice the incoming trouble.

Without needing a word between them, both men understood: they were under the eyes of a monster.

Alaric slowly reached into the inside of his long coat, his fingers brushing against the cover of his book—his anchor, his reminder of promises made and sins still unpaid. Not a weapon. Not a warning flare. Something older. Something heavier.

He didn’t pull it free. Not yet.

Instead, he lowered his hand slightly and shifted his weight subtly, placing himself a few steps closer to the ship's damaged front where Jade would inevitably come crashing down. His posture stayed relaxed to not alarm the others, but his Observation Haki stayed wide, alert, drinking in every shift in the dense, alien air.

Cass, catching the nuance, slid a few paces to the side, widening their coverage without breaking the natural rhythm of the crew’s movements. His sharp silver eyes flickered briefly to the raptor's vague silhouette, then back to the ground, calculating vectors, lines of fire, potential covers—all while his expression remained unreadable.

On the deck and around the Sea Pixie, several Revolutionaries paused for just a second, feeling the shift without knowing why. A deep-rooted animal instinct—the kind bred into warriors who had survived too many battlefields—warned them. A storm was watching.

And in the sky, rising higher than the fractured mast, Jade Belle soared, the tiny figure armed with more grit than gravity, took notice of the predator watching their every move.

The hunt had not yet begun. But it was coming.

Fast.

Post 4 - @Aro @Ziosa

The sky above the cliffs held a breathless silence. The raptor stayed motionless as the last echoes of the crash faded. One figure had fallen from the wreck, trailing smoke before vanishing into the canopy. The beast didn't follow. It didn’t need to. The clouds closed behind her like a sealed grave. Birdland offered no welcome to the broken.

Its wings shifted slightly, just enough to stir the air. Not to fly. Just to feel. The air hung heavy with metal, scorched wood, blood, and something deeper...resolve. The survivors below had not broken. They moved with discipline now. Where chaos once ruled, there was now rhythm. They were adapting, and that meant danger.

Figures moved in practiced motions. One pulled the wounded behind cover while others built barricades from scrap. Weapons were drawn and checked. A perimeter had formed, crude but aware. The raptor tracked them all, studying their pace, breath, and readiness. These were not fleeing prey. They were fighters. And that made them interesting.

Its head tilted, eyes narrowing. It never blinked. Even what it didn’t watch, it sensed through the jungle’s whispers. The land told it who had killed, who hesitated, who hid. The raptor didn't know their names. It didn’t want to. They were intruders. Nothing more.

A talon scraped forward, pebbles spilling into the ravine below. The wind was sharp, but gravity held no power here. Its body crackled faintly, golden feathers humming with charge. A pulse rippled from its chest, not an attack, but a presence. Above, thunder groaned faintly. Birdland was listening.

One of the survivors stood too long in the open. Another looked up...but not high enough. They never did. They watched the trees and ruins, never the cliffs. The raptor’s gaze burned cold. It could strike now, end them before defenses settled. But it waited.

The beast crouched low, wings twitching with restrained power. Static shimmered along its feathers. This was not rage or hunger. It was judgment. The jungle would let them try to survive. If they proved worthy, they might be spared. If not, the storm would fall without mercy. The sky would not roar. It would simply strike...and the raptor would be its hand.

Still going up, the mid air felt odd to Jade; as if she was wading through thick water. Part of that was she had actually gone through some clouds, but they were normal ones rather than the type that made up the sky island. The air itself above the island clouds somehow felt very thick and thin at the same time, the Dwarf was only able to breathe easily as she didn't need as much oxygen as a regular sized person, but if she was able to actually move in the air she her movements would be sluggish.

Even gravity was affected, Jade should have fallen back down like 10 seconds ago but instead she hadn't actually slowed down much and was still going up. This could be because of her size, but it was likely that everyone would be affected somewhat and not quickly start falling; unless they were the size or weight of a giant. The extra time allowed her to look down and see how large Birdland was, the Sea Pixie having landed on only a small part of it.

The cloud below that her crew was on was fairly large, but in the distance the small girl could see even bigger ones. All of them had trees on, but some had much taller ones and she was pretty sure a few actually had 'mountains'. Most of the forests were quite dense with only a few clearings, the Revolutionaries had got very lucky that they landed in one of the few otherwise they would have crashed into the sturdy trees; which probably would have caused much more damage to the ship and higher casualties. Fitting the name of the place, Jade could see some birds flying below her and nesting in the tops of some of the trees; but the amount was much less than she expected. She thought they would be everywhere but could actually only see about a dozen, and none of them seemed very large.

Movement near her makes the Dwarf look forwards instead of down. Dark clouds were forming infront of her eyes and the low rumble of thunder stirs the silence surrounding her. Even in a place like this, Jade doesn't think a storm would form like this; it was too sudden and high up for a start. Just as she feels her body start to be pulled down by gravity, the Warrant Officer sees the wings of something slightly below her on a cliff. It was a large yellow & black bird that seemed to be watching her ship, how she didn't see it before she isn't sure as it was larger than the trees near it. Even without using her Observation Haki, Belle can tell it was a powerful predator from it's stance and the light coming out from various parts of its body. Although she knows she won't be able to do much with it since she was still in the air, Jade draws her very large sword from the scabbard on her back; unintentionally drawing attention to herself.
