A cross slash is swung all around Akira as the boy aims to slash Mihawk – but the man decided to utilize Haki to break through the attack – generating a more powerful strike to clash with Akira’s attack and into the blade itself. The stronger and persistent force would eventually overpower Akira’s attack – even for a moment as the stabbing motion of Mihawk’s sword would slide past the clash and went forward. Mihawk’s attack is fast, perhaps even faster than how Akira could swing his sword. But the boy has impeccable reaction timing, which would barely allow him to catch up and moved his body towards the side, adjusting his position. The Yoru would slide and graze Akira’s chest, though only by the surface – thus the damage dealt to Akira was insignificant. Mihawk is definitely scary, but Akira can still match it. With Mihawk’s weapon out – Akira immediately retract his weapon just inches away from Mihawk’s sword and immediately swung it back to strike at the weapon, pressing his physical strength down from the vertical position – with similar strength, Akira uses the momentum of the quick strike to push Mihawk’s weapon down, with gravity acting down onto the sword clashing, Mihawk would find it far more difficulty to push it back upwards.

Akira's Durability: 8. Island Level vs remaining DPR of 2
Result: DPR 2 or more below dura: Not very effective

But this is not the end of the clash, for once the Akira possessed leverage with the clash, the boy immediately positions himself away from the clash as retracts his sword from Mihawk’s. Perhaps a surprise if Mihawk have observed the previous clash with the monkey where the boy instead of retracting his weapon like he did – went for the monkey’s body by aiming to break the sword’s hilt through sliding down the sword. But this time it is different. Instead of doing just that, Akira immediately jump at incredible speed, spinning in a circle immediately as he did so, Akira unleashed a point-blank air blade as he did so, aiming to injure Mihawk as he jumps past the man.

Mihawk's Yoru managed to cut through Akira's attack and sought to impale him. However, Akira, boasting the reaction speed of an ancient beast, managed to step aside and avoid. Blood was drawn from Akira's chest, but it was nothing significant. Regardless, the first successful hit went to Mihawk. Akira's sword then came down onto the Yoru, driving the tip of the Yoru into the ground with significant force. Mihawk had seen this by Akira, against the large Humandrill. However, instead of immediately striking, Akira backed away, before jumping forward, spinning and slashing, unleashing a flying slash while at the same time seeking to slash Mihawk with the physical sword.

However, things wouldn't quite go according to plan. Mihawk boasted incredible physical strength and attacking speed. He was also a master swordsman, so he could initiate an attack from almost any position or stance. As such, his sword, at that point pointing into the ground, was not hindered at all.

Instead, Mihawk dug his leading foot into the ground while swinging Yoru upward with great might and speed, unleashing a grand flying slash. The blades of the two swordsmen would collide, but the resulting flying slash from Mihawk was significantly stronger and bigger, and Akira, at that point, was airborne, due to his jump.

These factors allowed Mihawk to capitalize and blow Akira away.

If Akira was blown away, Mihawk would follow up, pushing off of the ground. With a movement technique, he would jump and close the distance almost immediately, and would come down onto Akira from above, aiming to impale him into the ground.

While the boy was able to attack from essentially a point blank range – Mihawk has a different idea, being so well-tuned to sword combat that the man was able to practically unleash attack at point blank. This led to a clash of attack as Akira, whom despite having incredible reaction, wouldn’t be able to move away in time, even though he is in mid-air – the boy could actually move away but timing is everything and Akira is simply at a bad timing. But the boy has no choice – for he would simply continue his attack, spinning with a point-blank air blade to clash against Mihawk’s powerful air blade. Yet Mihawk’s power overwhelmed even the boy – though just briefly. Pushed back upon by the energy and force of the air blade, Akira pressed against the attack with his own before he would push the remaining force before the boy would swung his sword away as well as his other arm – dissipating the remaining energy of the air blade through the force of his arm, the boy was sent slightly hurled back instead.

Sliding back – Mihawk wasn’t over however, he would launch himself up the air and dive back down onto Akira, with a single sword drop down onto him, aiming to impale Akira down. But this time, the boy would be forced to do beyond just what he intended to do so. Suddenly, the sword of the boy began to glow blue as a misty mixture of black and blue smoke would start to emanate out from the sword – for others this may be perceived as something is about to happen, but in truth this is merely the effect of the boy utilizing Haki in conjunction with his sword, a side effect of being a bearer of the Conqueror’s Haki and being the wielder of this sword. Swinging his sword against Mihawk’s, Akira this time would overpower Mihawk’s in a single upwards swing, though by how much it is debatable, yet it should most likely put Mihawk back in mid-air for a short moment.

Immediately, leaping off – Akira’s speed would increase further this time round (120), and in a flash – Akira immediately attacked in mid-air, through the use of his Zoan, Akira is able to strike several times from each direction much like an omnislash of sorts, an aerial version of the technique only done with the help of his Zoan powers. After 3 consecutive slashes onto Mihawk, Akira would get above Mihawk once more as he would drop down onto the swordsman with a vertical downwards strike to finish the technique.

Mihawk descended upon Akira, aiming to impale him into the ground with the Yoru. Akira's sword started to glow, and he started to imbue it with Busou-shoku no Haki. As Mihawk descended, Akira clashed his sword against the Yoru. The clash persisted for a few moments, but ultimately, the use of Busou-shoku no Haki allowed Akira to come out on top. His upward swing repelled Mihawk back up into the air. From there, Akira made use of his ability to fly, and attacked Mihawk from multiple directions while airborne.

Well aware that he was at a disadvantage while in the air, Mihawk resorted to the same defensive technique as before. After all, Akira had yet to overcome this barrier.

Twisting his body and swinging the Yoru around, Mihawk unleashed another massive tornado of unparalleled cutting force. This time, however, he imbued it with black Busou-shoku no Haki, turning it into a true ''midnight'' kamaitachi.

The powerful tornado would repel Akira's attacks. However, there was something else to it. Mihawk, inside the eye of the tornado, would be pulled higher up into the air and would be expelled from the top of the tornado. Now high up in the air, Mihawk held the Yoru overhead. He would display the true might of a master swordsman.

If you are a true master of the sword... show me you can take this attack head on.

Mihawk said, issuing a challenge. Holding the Yoru overheading, Mihawk imbued it with black Busou-shoku no Haki. Lightning started to crackle around the blade of the Yoru, with Mihawk using an advanced form of Conqueror's Haki to bring his power to the next level. He swung the Yoru downward. From his swing, an absolutely enormous cutting attack was unleashed, one that could cut a mountain or an iceberg in half.

Akira managed to push Mihawk’s attack away, forcing him above the air before the boy would attack – but Mihawk seems forced into yet another defensive action, a motion which Akira saw it once more. But this time the boy can fairly tell what is about to happen – thus allowing the boy to prepare himself for it even despite not being able to out speed Mihawk at that point of time. The tornado arises, stopping the boy’s attack though almost barely. But the end results are small but insignificant cuts through the body of the boy. But while this force Akira back, it would also propel Mihawk high up into the air. Mihawk spoke, challenging the boy to deal with Mihawk’s attack. Yoru positioned overhead of Mihawk, lightning crackle as black Haki wrapped around Yoru. This time though, Akira recognize what the lightning entails, with a vertical downward swing of the man’s sword, a powerful cutting attack would dawn upon the boy.

But Mihawk isn’t the only person with the Conqueror’s Haki. Lightning too, would start to crackle around the sword, the boy’s hand would blacken in Haki, but the sword continues to glow blue, emanating blackish-blue smoke. Pulling back his sword momentarily, Akira’s sword started to produce a miniature tornado-like effect around the blade itself as the boy twist his hand forward with the tip of the blade aimed right at Mihawk’s incoming attack. A clash, this time of equal force would collide but no contact between both weapons are made. Between the two, a powerful force of lightning would emanate spirally around the duo – a clash not just between two swordsmen, but also a clash between two users of Conqueror’s Haki. The sky would divide, clouds would divide themselves and fold, accumulating in volume but a line in the sky could be seen above Kuraigana.

Soon afterwards. The accumulating force would implode and break the clash, likely pushing both swordsmen back. The result of the clash affected wildlife all-around them, most either lost consciousness or blown away along with the environs, such as trees and even ground were split apart from the force. Backing off a little, Akira would slide back from the force against the ground – while he isn’t surprised that the World Greatest Swordsman would possess the Conqueror’s Haki, he is however surprised that the man would use it so early on. Though he is being a hypocrite considering he almost effectively use his Devil Fruit powers the moment he sensed a disadvantage between the two. No words are spoken, but he knew – if he wants to beat Mihawk, he would likely have to toss out the mind set of keeping equal. It would be a matter of time before Mihawk’s swordsmanship would overrun the boy and force him to do something beyond just swordsmanship. But the boy did not wish to fight with his Zoan powers too much, it was meant to be a duel between swordsmen after all and as long as he could do so, he would keep to it. Seeing as to how Mihawk has reacted to Akira’s aggression, the boy decided to change the way he would fight – this time rather than attacking the boy continues to wield his sword two-handed, but he positioned his sword and arms slightly backwards, the blade pointed towards Mihawk, his stance lowered slightly.

Mihawk, thrown high up into the air by his own tornado, was now airborne, glaring down at the area under him like a real hawk. His eyes, the eyes of a hawk, were made for this, and he had his sights on Akira. Yoru started to crackle with the lightning of a King. Conqueror's Haki raged, and Mihawk swung his infamous sword, unleashing a slash of unparalleled power. The atmosphere almost warped, and it was clear that this kind of a slash could cut it all. A meteor. A mountain. The sea. An island. There was nothing Mihawk could not cut through. And yet, this wasn't even hi strongest attack.

When Mihawk swung the Yoru, Akira unleashed a mighty attack himself. He, too, was a Conqueror. The two mighty attacks clashed, with the physical blades never meeting - after all, they were far away from one another. And yet, they threatened to break each other. A true collision of wills. The immense winds created by the clash started to uproot the trees that were still remaining from the fight thus far. The cut down trees that were laying on the ground, were all picked up by a powerful gale and sent rocking far away.

The clash of Kings persisted for a few moments, before suddenly erupting into an explosion of power. The entire area was engulfed by the obscurity. By the time it cleared, the two men were seen alive and unharmed. Mihawk had landed, the two now a fair distance away from one another. The Yoru was in his right hand. Mihawk's hawk eyes were piercing, staring at Akira.

Who are you, young man? Your name will not leave this island, I swear it on my pride as a swordsman.

Mihawk said. Akira would be able to tell - Mihawk was telling the truth. His name was safe. Would Akira give it?

The clash between Conquerors, shattered the environs of their duel – the results of their will have greatly impacted their surroundings, trees destroyed; animals blasted away or unconscious. All these have greatly affected those that called the island their home. But for these two swordsman, they are the only ones unaffected by it. From there the two stood away and against each other. Silence followed, but soon Mihawk would finally speak – asking for Akira’s name. Thinking for a little bit, the boy saw how Mihawk would chose not to reveal his identity regardless of how the outcome of this battle would be. Finally, the boy decided to speak.

“I am the Shadow of La Spada, the Grim Reaper herself. The man whom will one day rid the world of her evil. My name is Akira!”

The boy spoke, perhaps with delusions of grandeur. But for the boy it is a revenge. A deep-seated hatred for a particular being, a monster that Akira have never lost his sights on. But for the World Greatest Swordsman, it is unlikely that the man would be able to understand how is it to work for someone that has destroyed any chance of normal life, thrown into the life of piracy as the only way out, and work for someone so closely that you intend to betray at the very end. But for the boy, all these are what he aimed for. It is his only conceivable goal. It is his only purpose in life.

But how would the boy be perceived by his opponent? It is a life filled with hatred and revenge after all.

Two Conquerors clashed, their swords not even touching. It was their willpowers that fought for supremacy. During the clash, trees were uprooted and sent flying. Humandrills were blown away like ragdolls. It was truly an attack of grand proportions.

When the clash settled, Mihawk landed, the Yoru still in hand. Both men were unharmed and not even exhausted. At this rate, it was looking like a ten day fight. Mihawk, a fair distance away from Akira, spoke, the eyes of a hawk glaring. He inquired about the boy's name. The boy was an assassin, so chances of him giving a name were slim to none. However, Mihawk swore on his pride as a swordsman that the boy's name would not leave Kuraigana. Believing Mihawk's words, Akira gave his name. He also said he was the shadow of La Spada - a woman that Mihawk had heard about recently. And he also said, that he would kill his own master. Mihawk tightened the grip on the Yoru and spoke back.

Very well, young man. I cannot agree with your assassin ways. There is no pride there.

But, I respect your strength. I will fight you in earnest now.

Mihawk said. He did not respect Akira. Mihawk was a proud swordsman. Akira was a resourceful assassin. But, that was fine. Not all men had to agree with one another. The two simply walked on opposite paths. But one thing was for certain. Mihawk could respect Akira's strength. That much was undeniable.

Wielding the Yoru, Mihawk stabbed it into the ground. Suddenly, from the stab serving as an epicentre, multiple flying slashes were unleashed along the ground in all directions. Fissures were left in the wake of the running flying slashes, causing large boulders of rock to be uprooted. The entire area was under heavy attack, with multiple slashes coming for Akira as well.

Nowhere was safe. The Yoru could cut anything in sight.

Mihawk spoke – his respect did not lie in the boy’s motivation, but his strength. Mihawk has decided to properly fight Akira in his full strength and power, perhaps to the testament of his duellist whom manage to fight up with the world greatest so far. Mihawk would stab his sword into the ground, generating multiple energy-like projectiles from its crackling fissures, but the boy too has something similar, something which Mihawk would know far too well having used it himself. Quickly spinning around himself, Akira swung his sword in-accordance around him as a massive tornado is generated, black wisp dancing around the tornado, blocking the powerful attack which Mihawk has created, leading to a clash of powerful attacks before it would eventually force both attacks to cease, causing a large amount of dust build up to obscure the vision between the both.

Suddenly, from the large dust clouds several air blades are fired towards the general direction of where Mihawk last stood – a blind attack but it is designed to put Mihawk into his position if he wishes to deal with it, or move away whilst still focusing onto the attack. But the attack is random and haphazard. In seconds upon doing so, the boy would suddenly take flight into the sky from the dissipating dust cloud, aiming to use the dust cloud as a cover as the boy quickly drop right down above Mihawk at incredible speed – swinging his sword horizontally as close as the boy could to Mihawk, generating another shockwave, this time at point blank to destroy the ground where Mihawk stood, his blade glowing blue as smoke emanates from the blade – the boy hopes to knock Mihawk’s feet off-balance in a single strike.

Stabbing the infamous Yoru into the ground, Mihawk unleashed powerful slashes that ran along the ground, creating fissures and decimating the entire area. Akira, utilizing a similar concept to what Mihawk had already used, spun around and unleashed a powerful slashing tornado, which served as a defensive barrier for Akira. The attacks clashed with one another, unleashing absolute mayhem. The Humandrills that had fled the area were far away now, climbing atop trees of far removed parts of the forest, seeing the battle from afar. The Humandrills looked at the battle, at each other, again at the battle, and again at each other. They were in disbelief. Animals that lived to learn what humans could do - now realizing how far removed they were from these two particular humans.

When the dust settled, both Mihawk and Akira found themselves inside a veil of obscurity. Much dust had been lifted into the air, preventing the two from seeing one another. Just as Akira swung his sword, Mihawk narrowed his eyes. A powerful burst of Hao-shoku no Haki was unleashed from Mihawk, spreading outward. The wave of Hao-shoku no Haki carried concussive force, pushing the dust cloud outward and away from Mihawk, and causing it to enough Akira even more intensely. When the flying slashes came toward Mihawk, he parried them with the Yoru, either cutting through them or redirecing them to the side. Moments later, Akira came flying out of the dense dust cloud and high up into the air. From there, he dropped down toward Mihawk.

Once in range, Akira swung his sword horizontally. Mihawk swung the Yoru to defend, the two attacks clashing.

The attack between Mihawk and Akira clashed, as both sides continue to fight in a stalemate. The clash between both monsters have driven away most of the wildlife around them, for even the Humandrills find it difficult to keep up nor understand what is going on. Between the two however, the clash of attacks would prompt Mihawk into not just successfully defending it but at the same time his hand would stretch out and pull Akira downwards, a move that took the boy off-guard, as it is less of a swordsman skill and more of a straight out brawl. That said, Akira have little time to think. Being pulled down onto the ground, Mihawk raises his weapon high up – this move however is quickly reacted by the boy, whom immediately uses his free hand to place it on the ground as leverage, bending his arm to prevent his body from toppling over. Using his other hand, wielding his weapon, the boy swung his blade against Mihawk’s Yoru which was swung down in an attempt to cut down Akira.

Both blades clashed once more, with both sides using Haki. Another stalemate occurs with no end in sight as it seems. Equal in force though Mihawk’s sword having the luxury of gravity helping him would very slightly push down towards Akira. The body of the boy, at the same time of the clash would completely be parallel to the ground in a way. In a precarious situation, Akira decided to utilize further strength, using high physicality to push and guide Mihawk’s Yoru away from him, whilst still maintaining the sword clash. With that, the boy suddenly would twist his free hand and pivot his body around at high speed, a sweeping leg kick aimed to knock down Mihawk, with his weapon still stuck in a weapon clash with Akira. Should Mihawk be knocked off balanced, the boy would immediately back his sword from the clash from a split second before almost instantly attacking Mihawk’s sword with a powerful attack, an air blade generated from near point blank aimed to completely throw Mihawk away whilst likely injuring him at the same time, the weapon continues to be coated in this blackish blue mist emanating from it, carrying the air blade with a similar black wisps of energy circling around the air blade.

Mihawk, surprising Akira with a brawling move, grabbed the young man and forced him down to the ground. Now towering over him, Mihawk raised the Yoru high up into the air and swung it downward, aiming to drive Akira into the ground completely with one powerful swing. However, Akira managed to break his fall with his free hand, and used his weapon to clash with Mihawk's own Yoru. The two blades clashed with enough force to crack the very ground that Akira was laying on. However, Akira was not overpowered. Not completely, at least, merely struggling with the fact that Mihawk, in a standing position, had slightly more leverage in his swing than Akira, who was on the ground. However, Mihawk quickly realized that he was not going to break through the clash on time, and so he pushed off of the ground, jumping away. This would prevent Akira from attempting to sweep Mihawk's feet.

This backing away proved how experienced Mihawk was in battle. After all, if he had stayed on top of Akira, he wouldn't have been able to follow up with an attack, because he would have been susceptible to Akira's counter. One would think that backing away would also cost Mihawk the opportunity of a follow up attack, but it did not. After all, he could attack from a distance.

As Mihawk was still in the air in the middle of his jump away, and Akira was still on the ground - before he could get up - Mihawk would unleash a mighty attack. He timed it so that Akira would have to deal with it while on the ground, which would prove difficult, due to the bad position. Mihawk's immense attack speed allowed for this opportunity.

Sekaiichi no Zangeki...!

Swinging the all powerful Yoru, Mihawk once again unleashed the world's strongest slash - wisps of black Busou-shoku no Haki, and the crackling lightning of advanced Conqueror's Haki, cladding the mighty slash. A flying slash that could cut a mountain, Mihawk aimed to engulf and overwhelm Akira in his unfavorable position.

Mihawk’s experience allowed him to quickly understood the situation at hand and quickly backed off from the Akira, preventing him from being caught up from Akira’s leg sweep. The Swordsman would quickly back away as Akira sweep the ground in front of him, as due to already being in the process of doing so. However, this allowed Akira to get into a slightly better position rather than relying on his hand to maintain his position as he goes into a crouching-like position. Mihawk would immediately attack, generating a powerful air blade to catch the boy off-guard. The boy, having unable to move away at that point of time – given his movements and positions would be forced to defend himself against the incoming air blade, though it barely changed as compared to his original intentions. The blade continues to glow blue, blackish-blue smoke emanating from the sword as Akira blocks the incoming air blade. A clash would occur, but soon Akira is sent pushing back at pretty great speed as the air blade pushes Akira. Eventually however, the powerful force would break the clash, cutting Akira as smoke obscures the area between them. The air blade, despite Mihawk’s great powers – the mere block to the attack has managed to weakened his power considerably, and as the clash broke with the air blade victoriously damaging Akira, the damage did not seem to fatal nor considerably serious, but a cut would be seen across the boy's body vertically on his left shoulder, bleeding yet it is conclusively minor. The power of the Zoan that Akira has proved to be very effective in combat.

Quickly getting in front of Mihawk, for a split second, Akira would attempt to blitz past Mihawk, his sword positioning in a thrusting position as the blade continues to be coat with Haki, the same black-blue smoke and the blue glow would continue to indicate as such. In a flurry of great speed, Akira would attempt to thrust his sword at Mihawk thirteen times at insane speed, enough to be essentially almost at the same time.

Name: Autumn's Demise
Rank: S
Description: One of the most powerful technique known by this style. The user attacks in a flurry of skewers at an incredible speed such that all 13 strikes are done at the same time. Surprisingly, this technique is the result of practicing Pelting Rain and Autumn's Storm for an unholy amount of times, an imitation of fencing techniques. Mihawk swung the Yoru, unleashing what some dubbed the world's strongest slash. The massive flying slash ripped through the air toward Akira, colliding with his guard. Akira was pushed away with considerable force, and cutting damage was inflicted upon his torso. However, the block stood, and Akira was fine. In that moment, Akira pushed off of the ground and rushed toward Mihawk with great speed. As Akira blitzed past Mihawk, he aimed to unleash a near instantenous flurry or stabs. However what Mihawk did next was rather anticlimatic. He simply vaulted over Akira, avoiding the whole attack altogether. A few surface wounds were inflicted on Akira's arm and thighs, likely not having been able to avoid fully - however the damage was superficial. When Mihawk landed back on the ground, he turned around and looked at Akira. Mihawk did not attack. Instead, he spoke, while walking over to find some trees that were still standing.

You are a powerful swordsman, there is no doubt.

And going all out, neither of us would make it out in good shape. But, that is not what I wish to come out of this duel.

Mihawk said, stating that the two killing each other off here would be a mockery of swordsmanship. These two men were able to push each other higher. They owed that to the art of swordsmanship.

I'm changing the rules of this duel. We both have power. But let's see our technique.

Mihawk said, walking up to a tree bark. He swung the Yoru and suddenly, two ''sticks'' akin to swords were cut out from the tree bark, with the rest of the wood falling to the ground in smaller dices. Mihawk mounted the Yoru onto his back and then picked up the two makeshift wooden swords. Mihawk threw one toward Akira.

The first to land three strikes on the other wins. No Devil Fruit. No Yoru. No Haki. Just pure swordsmanship. What do you say... Akira?

Mihawk said, using the boy's name.

Both sides continue to clash, but eventually Mihawk would continue to avoid the boy’s attack, perhaps what Akira did isn’t enough but overdoing it means less of a duel of swordsman and more of a bloodshed. Something Akira himself chose not to reach that point – though it seems that his opponent is on the same page as well. As Mihawk’s comment that both sides going all out would be less than ideal. He is right – for the original point of this duel is a battle between swordsman and skills, not a fight to the death against each other like monsters. Mihawk seems to have caught on to the Akira’s psyche changing throughout the fight, whom seems to be getting more and more into his Zoan powers as time goes by in order to match his opponent’s physique. As such he made a proposal, no powers – only skills and technique. He would sheathe the Yoru just after slicing apart a tree. In his hands two wooden makeshift swords are taken, with one immediately throwing towards the boy.

The win condition of the duel, the first to land 3 strikes win – Mihawk spoke. Akira grabbed the tossed wooden stick, his weapon. The implication is there, but would the boy accept it. With one hand holding on to the wooden stick, the other held on Twilight’s Edge. The boy looked at both, before perhaps a more surprising action is made. Twilight’s Edge would start to glow blue for a moment, blackish-blue smoke emanates from it, a unique deposition of the sword – a power that for a man like Mihawk would be able to recognize for he himself wield a sword of the same level as Akira’s. But in a short mere seconds, that power would dissipate – the smoke would scatter into the winds and the blue glow would stop, reverting back to its original blue colour. Akira walked a few steps towards Mihawk.

THSK

“I see. This is a solution to a problem.”

Twilight’s Edge is gently stabbed on the ground in front of Mihawk, a sign that the man would recognize that the boy would conform to his rules. Whether it is due to respect or due to the boy’s wishes is questionable. But at the very least, by putting the sword onto the ground – the boy would show respect to Mihawk – his body would revert back to his human form. His clothing fully black much like a ninja. Turning his back, the boy walked a couple of metres away from his sword – and even towards the side as well, so as to ensure his weapon itself does not get caught up in ensuing fight. And perhaps for the first time, a smile appeared by the boy’s face – a sign of excitement and anticipation, one that signify enjoyment beyond anything. Fun.

“Once again, my name is Akira. Akira Takeuchi from the North Blue. Akira of the Shuurin Shūen Ryū.”

Mihawk proposed a true duel. A contest to measure the skills of the two involved. Akira obliged. The assassin put away his weapon and grabbed the wooden boken. Now, both men were armed with equal weapons, and it was time to get the contest underway.

Akira gave his name one more time. A show of sportsmanship. Mihawk would do the same.

Dracule Mihawk. The world's number one swordsman - until a younger swordsman takes the crown.

Mihawk said, stating that it was only a matter of time before the inevitable would occur. Would it come as quickly as on this day? Mihawk tightened his grip on the boken and pushed off of the ground, rushing toward Akira.

Once in range, Mihawk hurled his boken forward in the form of a stab. Mihawk's other - free - hand was close to the hilt as well, though what exactly he was planning, or if that fact would even catch Akira's eye, remained to be seen.

The stick battle begun. Mihawk, upon responding with his own introduction would prepare himself – before he launched forth with great speed, his boken thrusted forward in a form of a stab. A simple movement but one that Akira can easily react to. As the boken closes into Akira, the boy immediately prepared himself, waiting for Mihawk’s boken as close as he possibly could have waited on before the boy took one step forward using his left leg, the boy moved his own boken into a swinging-like position. The man before him is stronger in terms of physicality, and as such the boy has to make use of his own skills to one-up Mihawk. With the incoming boken, Akira swung his own boken against Mihawk’s, but at the same time Akira’s speed increases, using a Soru-esque technique as he took another step using his right leg.

Clashing against Mihawk’s boken would likely mean being overpowered by Mihawk’s physicality as Akira pushes his own boken against Mihawk’s, but it wasn’t meant to push Mihawk’s boken away but rather to prevent Mihawk from easily hitting him through the clash. What Akira instead aimed for is to slide against Mihawk’s boken and straight down onto his hand, having no guard due to the shape of the wooden boken would make it easier to hit Mihawk’s hand. The speed of the Soru-esque technique means the time to reach Mihawk’s hand is drastically shortened, and the closer Akira’s boken to his hands means the lesser time for Mihawk to properly leverage his strength to overwhelm Akira.

Name: n/a
Rank: n/a
Description: The user plants a foot forward, bends a little and uses force to dash forward, which allows the user to propel slightly forward for the next step but with increased momentum, allowing one to strike with greater intensity which forms the basis for the fighting style. It can also be used in tandem to spin by twisting the body, resulting in a quick spin or two to create momentum. This technique can be used in conjunction with any basic attacks or certain techniques. [Pic 1][Pic 2] (Follows Soru rules: 11 Shuurin, 21 Movement Speed; The user's movement speed is increased by Mastery/5; 1 turn cool down at 100 mastery)

Name: Autumn's Night
Rank: B
Description: A counter technique where the user clashes the weapon against the enemy's and forcefully push down the weapon while at the same time moving closer to the enemy. With this, the user aims to slide his weapon towards the opponent's hands and immediately with two hands, applies body momentum and swing out the katana towards the side. Through this, one can possibly cut off the enemy's hand depending on the weapon being used, or break weapon's guard and then the hands before finally resulting in a horizontal swing to the target's body. Mihawk rushed forward, closing the distance with great speed. Once he was in range, he lunged his boken forward in a stabbing motion, aiming to land the first of three strikes to win the match. However, Akira's counterattack was perfect. The fact that he could no longer rely on the powers of his Devil Fruit, likely forced Akira to reach deeper into his repertoire, drawing out potential that someone not focused on swordsmanship could not achieve. Swinging his boken against Mihawk's own, Akira then used Soru to accelerate forward in one fluid motion, driving his boken down the length of Mihawk's own boken in an attempt to strike at Mihawk's hand, which was not protected by a guard, due to the nature of how bokens were made.

But, Mihawk was too masterful to not strike back in time. As Akira's boken was sliding down the length of Mihawk's own, Mihawk used Akira's boken like a lever. The tip of Mihawk's boken would swing over toward Akira's temple, reaching it at the same time as Akira's sword reached Mihawk's hand. A strike for a strike.

If both men were successful, they would each land a strike, resulting in a 1-1 tie. Mihawk would jump away, establishing some distance. He had attacked first, now it was time for Akira to attack, and for Mihawk to counter.

Come...

The boy’s plan is more or less a success, but the usage of the Soru-esque technique prevented the boy himself from reacting quickly as well – this allowed Mihawk to utilize a western fencing technique to simply penetrate through the clash with proper angling to strike the boy’s temple. Pain. The boy would feel on his cheeks as he zoomed past Mihawk. Yet both Boken hit their mark, though with one hurting one’s cheeks and the other hurting the hand. With both combatants ran past each other it was a tie. With one point scored for each side, yet it is of displeasure of the boy to let Mihawk score a point, for each point Mihawk score is essentially like a game of life, he would only have 2 lives to work with effectively. He would need to one-up Mihawk further to achieve advantage. As long as he would get one point in advantage – the boy could feasibly win comfortably. His eyes focused – Akira dashed forth to meet Mihawk once more.

Akira would shorten the distance between them quickly, his boken angled low but position such that Akira would seems to be swinging his sword vertically upwards towards Mihawk. But as soon as Akira is within swinging distance the boy would swing as most would predict, a vertical upward. But mid-way, Akira change his swing by simply flicking his wrist forward, turning the swing into a thrust – much like what Mihawk first did – his body moving along with the attack so that he would face his body side to Mihawk and instead of being 2-handed, Akira swung it single-handedly, like a western fencer facing his opponent. The boy is anticipating another clash – should Mihawk try to penetrate through the sword to hit Akira, the boy only needs to either catch it or react to it accordingly.

Mihawk and Akira would both land a strike, scoring a point respectively. The two swordsmen were tied at 1-1. The swordsman to land two more strikes would become the victor. Now, there was even less room for error. When Akira turned around to rush toward Mihawk, Mihawk would simply face Akira, waiting in a ready stance. Akira would be the one to close the distance, before hurling his katana forward in the form of a fencer's stab. What would come next, however, would likely be a surprise to Akira. Mihawk would attempt the exact same manoeuvre that Akira himself had attempted earlier.

Mihawk's boken would come forward, hitting Akira's boken from the side to redirect it slightly and parry. Simultaneously, Mihawk would step forward, driving his boken down the length of Akira's in order to hit his sword wielding hand, which was exposed due to the nature of the boken's construction.

However, Mihawk would not stop there. He would upgrade Akira's idea. As Mihawk and his boken were driving forward, Mihawk would bend his knees, dropping down as he swung his boken downward. This would accomplish various things. Firstly, if Akira wished to to the same level manoeuvre as Mihawk earlier, the boken would swing overhead the crouching Mihawk. And secondly, if Mihawk's boken failed to hit Akira's hand, his drop and downward swing would allow Mihawk to reach Akira's body in the form of a normal downward swing.

Akira would understand. Mihawk, the master that he was, was able to learn on the fly and upgrade any swordsmanship manoeuvre. Years of experience.
