[KYUKA ISLAND]
Post 6 - @Lamby
Lucifer tilted his head slightly, amber eyes gleaming with amusement as he stepped forward, his polished boots tapping lightly against the stone beneath. His wings folded neatly behind him, but the atmosphere seemed to tighten with every syllable he uttered.
" Now, now, Laskey. Don’t be so cold. It’s rude not to offer tea or terms when someone arrives with such theatrical flair. "
The assassin’s stare didn’t falter. Lucifer gave a light chuckle.
" Still holding onto that righteous scowl, are you? Fine. Let’s make this interesting. I’ve got a better idea—one I imagine even a recluse like you might appreciate. "
He lifted his gloved hand, brushing invisible dust from his sleeve, yet his voice cut like glass.
" A wager. If you win, I’ll leave Kyuka Island. No flames, no fanfare, no vengeance. You’ll never see my charming face again. But…’ he let the word hang, almost tasting it on his tongue, ‘if I win—Kyuka is mine. All of it. And you will train my subordinates in Rokushiki. "
A delicate crack formed in the nearby glass window—imperceptible at first, then spreading like a web under pressure. Neither man acknowledged it, though both heard it.
" What’s wrong? I thought you’d appreciate a game with some stakes. After all, we’re both men trying to escape something—our past, our purpose. But at least I’ve stopped lying to myself about enjoying the blood. "
His voice turned low, serpentine.
" You hide behind solitude and penance, but I wear my sins proudly. That’s the difference between us. You bury regret. I raise it from the dead. "
He stepped closer, lips curling into something between a smile and a challenge.
" So what do you say, wolf without a pack? Care to dance with the devil one last time? "
