Which may or may not come back to bite him if the “curse” of the Mountain God returns in the form of a vengeful, grown up white boar later down the road.

Or perhaps he’ll repay the blood debt by saving it or its own piglet down the line. Something like that. Whitebeard himself may even get involved in the fray.

We haven’t seen the last of these boars, be it in the flashback or in the present day. I’m counting on Weevil tied verrry closely to them even.

Also, here’s a plot twist: I think same as with the Nerfertari’s “protection” of the poneglyph, the whole thing about the Kozuki being the creators of the poneglyphs is also a load of bullshit. What if the clan that possesses said knowledge is actually...the Kurozumi? Dun dun dunnnnn.

There's no backstory that could redeem Orochi now, he is even more hateable than Saint Charloss and the CD. He deserves the most brutal and vivid death in the show, a death that will make Ace's death look cute.

Orochi doesn't have to be likeable. Doflamingo can't be forgiven or redeemed but fuck if his backstory isn't amazing and sympathetic. You can sympathise with the circumstances that led to someone becoming a terrible person, understand them. But it doesn't mean you can forgive them too. Orochi's backstory will probably paint him very sympathetic so that we can understand how he became who he is now, but it probably won't redeem him.

You can sympathise with the circumstances that led to someone becoming a terrible person, understand them. But it doesn't mean you can forgive them too. Orochi's backstory will probably paint him very sympathetic so that we can understand how he became who he is now, but it probably won't redeem him.

I personally don't care about Orochi's backstory other than how he got connected to Kaido and WG. Orochi is an arc-only villain who thinks he's a hotshot because Kaido has his backing. Doflamingo and other antagonists have a larger impact on the story and have more meaningful backstories even if they can't be redeemed. It's also why i personally don't hate them or even the evil Yonkos like Big Mom and Kaido since they're interesting characters.

Orochi isn't interesting at the slightest and I'm just waiting for his slow and brutal death.

Pretty much, but he seems THE arc-only villain to look out for. Orochi is a perfected version of Spandam, I think. But I guess Oda wants to make Wano the biggest arc ever so he leveled up Orochi to meet the right standards.

I think we will come to appreciate Orochi's character a lot over time. Despite him being scum, for someone as lowly as a child servant for a Daimyo to become a man capable of subduing an entire country and teaming up with Kaido, it must be good. I can't wait to see what Oda has in store for us. From day 1, I've always wondered "how the hell is this guy the shogun? Dude looks like a nonce m8" and finding out will be cool.

This flashback in general is already looking very good. I didn't mention this earlier but this chapter gave me early One Piece vibes. Oden, Kin'emon, Denjiro, everyone is very fun to read!

Ay, with you here I can use an example!

For example, in Kimetsu no Yaiba. We see the backstories of the demons and we also see Tanjiro sympathising with them and understand what led to them becoming what they are. However they are still unforgivable and justice has to be delivered.

That's what I think will happen with Orochi. We'll be able to sympathise with him but eventually when Wano gets heated much later, he will be brought down hard.
