Nakaba started the Chaos plot in the end of Volume 40. And I think it was not random extension more like planned from beginnig.

The question right now will Supreme Deity make a move then Story might go on and may not end before 44 (then we can also hope for Escanor return) or will Nakaba conclude the Chaos plot fast with the dead of Caith then it might end within the next 5 chapter.
