The Hunt #9 @Guren
Jason was walking up the path when he heard the voices speak inside. He stopped, pretending to inspect his surroundings, even the house, but never lingering on any specifics, in case he was being watched. He felt several presences inside the house, and one of them spoke, revealing herself to be Juliet. A couple older men also spoke, telling the story of what had happened here. Parts of it at least, what they knew. It was clear they didn’t have all the information.
Juliet raised an eyebrow at the old man as he referred to her as a young girl, but said nothing. To someone his age there was likely no difference, and she was more focused on the information that they presented. The soldier seemed to be in a terrible mood, but the man named Rodrick was friendly and forthcoming.
He told a story of greedy pirates searching for treasure, of the changes that occurred when they found said treasure. How everything had gone wrong since then, how the pirates had gained strange powers and betrayed one another. Where they remained and the dire situation that they found themselves in.
How come you here are not affected? Juliet asked once the man was done speaking, having thought the same thing since she stepped inside the building. You say the other people of Shutter Island are mindlessly roaming the island, and I can attest to this, I saw it first hand. What I don’t understand is how you have been spared. Have you hid here all along?
But yes, we are here to capture these pirates. Perhaps if we take them away, it will lift the curse, if not we can warn HQ and they can possibly send help. Juliet said, moving towards the door again. Is there anything else before I go?
Jason, who was still standing outside, suddenly sensed something back from where he had come, where Merrimack lay still. However, when he turned around he saw nothing, and the rubble that the mink was hidden underneath seemed undisturbed. Still, he kept his eye on the location for a little longer, in case something else were to happen. If Merrimack was anything to go by, the other members of the pirate crew should not be able to move faster than his vision could react to.
