"Kilij Talking"
[Kilij Thinking]
Kilij Action
Kilij Dao Odachi gladiator, ex-slave, and fugitive. Those are the titles that the young Tiger Mink possessed. He wanted to add other titles to the mix like blacksmith or pirate, but he didn't qualify for either of those. He was trained in the art of smithing, but without money, equipment, or a forge he couldn't even produce the simplest of arms. As for pirate, he was going to join a crew that his mentor recommended, but he didn't know how to find them. A month ago he escaped from a life of slavery by luck, but that luck didn't include a way to make money. All he had on him were a couple of swords he stole from the masters and a dagger his mentor gave him before departing. After days of living like a homeless beggar on a tiny island, Kilij decided to try his luck elsewhere and stowaway on a merchant ship.
The ship carried farm animals to sell on other islands and the tiger Mink hid amongst them. He had stolen a sheep wool fleece from one of the town's farms and used that to camouflage himself with the farm animals. With that Kilij set sail on a cargo hold filled with sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens. Unsurprisingly resting on filth and eating grain meant for beasts wasn't all that different than the life of a slave. Plus he stole a chicken once or twice to round out his diet.
The journey continued on this fashion for two weeks until a storm hit them out of nowhere. That night the ship shook from side to side and almost capsized on a few occasions. Inside the beast pen, Kilij slid from wall to wall crashing into the beast for the whole evening. Water poured in and he almost drowned when a fat pig pinned him under its weight. When the morning calm came the disoriented Mink thought of revealing himself to the crew just so he could escape from this animal hell. Unfortunately it was at this moment that the sound of canon fire commenced.
The Maelstrom of Fate
The Grand Line is a sea of chaos and confusion. The most veteran of sailors can lose their way on these unpredictable waters. Storms crop up from nowhere and currents change under the will of the heavens. Even the ever changing course of fate can twist, cross, and end under the mysterious effects of this ocean.
It was on these waters that the fate of three strangers would be forever altered.
On a moonless night a storm of apocalyptic proportions manifested from nothingness to cause havoc on the lives of many seafarers. The winds raged, the waves battered, and the rain disoriented sailors from a myriad of ships. When the dawn broke the survivors found themselves on still waters obscured by fog. By the time the fog lifted, the seaman discovered that they weren't alone at sea.
Nearly three dozen vessels were subjected to the same experience. Ships from merchants, pirates, warring nations, explorers, and others were clustered together by a freak accident. For brief moment under the heat of the morning sun tensions rose as friends, enemies, and strangers found themselves within boarding distance of each other. It was at that stage that a canon was fired and like the proverbial powder keg all chaos ensued. Ships ramming, cannons blasting, sails falling, it was pandemonium and nobody was safe.
