A shock to all. Leo had such a prominent reputation, this was nothing short of unbelievable. The Marine Hero, frozen. Inside the smoke, the Tracker finally saw the figure of Leo. The vice-admiral had an opportunity to strike, but he was frozen.

The Tracker appeared in front of Leo, Arms cocked back, whispering that unique style of attack, haki brimming. The hands flew forward, but, like Leo, stopped frozen. The hands stopped an inch from the den den mushi. The creature stared at the hair on the den den mushi, that strand of blonde, clicking it’s tongue warily, in recognition.

Suddenly, a flash of light took the creature to the ground, face-down.

[Admiral Kizaru] “Now’s our chance! Leo! Help me hold him down! The cuffs! Put them on him! We need to interrogate him!”

Kizaru held the Tracker down. Every second, Kizaru’s body shot out small lasers against the travker’s body, preventing him from moving. The creature screamed in agony. However, it struggled, slowly turning.

[Vice-Admiral Tsuru] “Capture?! He’s the reconnaissance! We need to kill him now! Leo, do it!”

Tsuru chimed in, now coming from behind. Her right hand was clad in haki and water, whirling like a wash. Both had good points. They knew nothing about the enemy, getting information about them would potentially be crucial. However, at what risk? This was no normal fighter. If he was reconnaissance, could they risk it?

What would Leo do?

The Den Den Mushi continued to ring, and the smoke in the area lingered. Leo had had his chance to strike the creature down, but he had missed it. It was like Leo was in a trance, just waiting. One ring after another, endlessly it felt like. Would she pick up? Before that could happen, however, the creature, through the smoke, caught sight of Leo and attacked. Appearing in front of Leo, the creature whispered yet another technique that Leo knew all too well. Leo was about to act, but suddenly, the creature's fists came to a stop right in front of the Den Den Mushi. The creature stared at the blond hair, and Leo, wide-eyed, stared at the creature. ''It recognizes her'' - Leo thought. Suddenly, a light rammed into the top of the creature's head and drove it to the ground violently and with great power. Admiral Kizaru had stomped the creature into the ground, immobilizing it for now. Admiral Kizaru urged Leo to help him restrain the creature, while Vice Admiral Tsuru urged him to kill it. And in that moment, the Den Den Mushi stopped ringing. The person on the other end did not pick up.

Sweat rolled down the side of Leo's face and he exhaled - he had been holding his breath.

Kizaru, let it stand up.

Trust me. I will not let it escape here. You have my word.

Leo said, his eyes locking with Admiral Kizaru's. The intensity in Leo's eyes was immense, and his stare spoke much deeper than his words did. Would Admiral Kizaru and Vice Admiral Tsuru trust him? After all... with Leo's strange behavior, there had to be more to this.

OCC Note: 🦋 A butterfly effect was triggered! 🦋
Inside Enki
All eyes on Leo. The Tracker was immobilized, but a decision had to be made. Capture or kill? Kizaru told Leo to capture the Tracker. Tsuru told Leo to kill, alleging he was reconnaissance. Lost in his thoughts, frozen, Leo was even more perplexed on the figure stopping his attack. The decision was nigh.

Leo asked the Admiral to let him go. Leo chose not to kill the Tracker, instead to capture. The Admiral grunted, seeing Leo’s spirit. Because Leo took his side, if anything else, Kizaru let him go. The Admiral stepped back, now searching for his cuffs.
[Tracker] “Kill… kill… kill… kill?”
The Tracker stood up. He stared at Leo. The words he kept muttering since they saw him, of kill, now ended with a question mark. Leo wanted a chance to address the being, now was the time. Leo would note the beast had his undivided attention. However, almost without intent, the being’s right eye bleeped red twice. It was subtle. Leo or Kizaru would not know it, but the Tracker had sent information back to Pangea.

Floor to Vice-Admiral Hero Leo.

Decision: Kill or Capture the Tracker
  • Leo chose to capture the Tracker
Butterfly Effect:
  • + Valuable Intel
    • Contemporaries will gain valuable intel on the weaknesses of the Primordials and hints of their true origin.
  • - Lost Element of Surprise
    • Tracker sent information to Pangea. Pangea now knows of the Contemporaries’ roster, powers, and imminent arrival.
  • - Relationship with Tsuru
    • Tsuru lost trust with Leo
  • + Relationship with Kizaru
    • Kizaru gained trust with Leo. The boost in trust allowed Kizaru to let the Tracker loose and trust Leo and his request.

The look in Leo's eyes spoke many a word to Admiral Kizaru, who supposedly understood Leo's intentions and went along with his request. Little did Admiral Kizaru know, Leo's intentions were not quite capture. They were interrogation - and if need be, the interrogation would be violent. After all, what stood in front of Leo was just a monster. The creature stood up and was about to speak, but Leo beat it to it.

“Kill… kill… kill… kill?”

Leo spoke the creature's words in sync with the creature, even getting the question mark right at the end of it.

I can see your future. I will see any of your attempts at escape, so you might as well give up on those.

Now then...

Leo said, his eyes intense. He rose his hand up and showed the Den Den Mushi to the creature once again.

You recognize her, don't you? Where is she? Why do you know her?

Leo interrogated the creature. If it were to answer, things would go well. If not, Admiral Kizaru and Vice Admiral Tsuru would be witness to quite a violent version of Leo. This was personal, after all.

All eyes on Leo and the Tracker. The tracker stood surrounded, with Leo and his impending Will holding him hostage. The den den mushi showed that golden hair. Golden hair that made the Tracker react. But how? Why? The Tracker saw his life hanging. He had quivered, as if scared to tell.

However, Leo’s spirit made him speak.
[Tracker] “…. Lia? Lady Lia b-”
Suddenly, the throat of the Tracker closed up. The monster began to gurgle, his whole body shaking. What seemed to be lights flared inside his throat, as if reacting to those words: Lia. Kizaru and Tsuru widened their eyes, covering their heads. An explosion followed, beheading the Tracker. It’s body fell forward at Leo’s feet. A silenced spy. The Tracker knew Lia. How?

Between the silence, a voice echoed. A humanoid figure clad in a shadow, very much human and not Primordial, was projected from the neck.

[Voice] “Tu-tu-tu-tu. Such unreliable beasts...”

[Voice] “Can’t believe they sent you, my dear Kizaru. I see Absolute Justice is eroding on you, Burns. Has it already been more than 30 years, Tsuru-san? Turn back. Or your graves shall be marked in Pangea.”
The projection shut off. The figure spoke with knowledge with all three, with Tsuru noted more familial. Pangea now knew they were coming. Threats of death. Their lead was gone. However, they had the body of a Primordial, likely the only one ever recovered. What could they learn from it?

The alarm had subsided. On the observatory, the voices of Onigumo and Dalmatian could be heard - they were back. Enki had reached the ground floor, 20,000 meters in the ocean floor.

Leo, holding the Den Den Mushi in his hand, propped it up for the creature to see. There was an immediate reaction. Leo's eyes narrowed, he knew an answer was coming. And then it happened. ''Lia... Lady Lia...''. Leo's eyes widened in shock. He was in disbelief. This creature. This primordial. It knew Lia. How?

You... how do you know h-!

Leo intended to question the creature earlier, but suddenly, its throat started to blip a red light. The primordial's speech function was taken away, and then, mere moments later, a concentrated explosion took its head off. The primordial's body fell forward and hit the floor with a deep and resounding thud. A holographic display came next, showing a man clad in shadows. The man addressed Admiral Kizaru, Vice Admiral Leo and Vice Admiral Tsuru. He urged them to turn back, or Pangea would become their grave. An intimidating warning. And as soon as the holographic man appeared, he was gone, leaving the trio of Marines with nothing but fear in their hearts. Yes, fear - even these three great Marines could feel it, albeit somewhere deep down inside.

For now, Admiral Kizaru and Vice Admiral Tsuru did not question Leo who Lia was, and so Leo would not bring it up. In the meantime, Onigumo and Dalmatian had returned as well, and Enki reached a new milestone of depth. Leo turned toward Tsuru and spoke, while pocketing the Den Den Mushi.

Tsuru-san... who was that man?

Leo asked, hoping that Tsuru would perhaps recognize him, though chances were low.

The three came back to the observatory. Greeting them with a solemn look was Chimera, hands straddled above the hologram. Onigumo and Dalmatian were sitting at their side, strapping their wounds with bandages and alcohol. They were wounded, but true Vice-Admirals they were. Chimera asked for a report, and it was given, with Kizaru placing the Tracker’s body on the hologram table.

The group took a second to compose themselves. Tsuru broke the silence, answering Leo.

[Tsuru] “The voice… I do not recognize it. There are many who know us all three. Pirates and Marines alike.”

[Tsuru] “One thing I could decipher. The voice… it’s old. Only those who knew me in my youth call me Tsuru-san.”

Truth laid out in thoughts. Chimera squinted his eyes, even he did not decipher who it was. Old? Who could it be?

Chimera used his bare hands to tear open the Tracker, like one would an autopsy. Hand and feet like fishmen. Eyes like giants. A tail curled up inside like a dwarf. Scales like a Reptilian. Fur like a Humandrill. Elemental resistance like Lunarians. Fangs and claws like Minks. Primal like Sentient beasts. Everything else seems human-like. Who were these beings?

One thing was special; the central nervous system, connecting to everything, was at the nape of the neck - it had been blown half-off. The weakness of the Primordial had been revealed.

[Kizaru] “Leo. Your ’voice’ and demeanor changed when you saw it. Enough to wound. Enough to jeopardize the mission on a gamble. Justice set aside.”

[Kizaru] “This... Lia? Who is she?”
All eyes on Leo. Before they could proceed, Kizaru demanded the truth, the same as Tsuru just answered. Chimera squinted his eyes. A squint, but enough. He had his doubts on Leo’s Absolute Justice.

Admiral Kizaru, Vice Admiral Tsuru and Vice Admiral Leo went back into the control room, taking the presumably dead Primordial with them. There, they met back up with Chimera, and both Vice Admirals Onigumo and Dalmatian were back. They had some injuries, but they had managed to defeat the enemies underwater - a feat to be respected, though nothing less than that was to be expected of people that were selected for this mission.

Chimera, using his bare hands, tore open the Primordial's body, revealing its insides. They were strange creatures, a mix of multiple races it even seemed. But the most peculiar thing was the nape of their neck. That was the core of their nervous system. This was further proved by what had happened to this Primordial in particular. The nape of its neck was blown out, and the whole creature collapsed on the spot.

As they were looking at the creature, Kizaru changed subjects, speaking to Leo. He questioned who this Lia person was, and what she was to Leo. All eyes were on Leo - with Chimera even starting to doubt Leo's sense of Justice on this particular mission, due to what appeared to be personal involvement.

Just a woman from my past. She's no one important to the world. And let's make it clear. My Justice is unhindered.

Leo said, clarifying that Lia was no one important - she was not the leader of any important faction that the Navy would need to know about. Whether this was everything, was of course anyone's guess, but it's not like anyone present had any reason to call Leo out on it. It was completely reasonable that this Lia, was simply a woman that Leo knew.

Would anyone dig deeper and risk strife within the group, or would the topic be shelved for now?

The Entrance to the Old World! #14

Inside Enki
The Primordial’s weakness was presented. A tactical advantage of taking the Tracker alive(ish). However, what would be the cost? Their invasion was no longer a secret. The room was heavy with emotions, fear, and confusion. Thrust into a mission with little details, with powerful beings, the fate of the era in their hands, and strife all around.

The saga continued with Leo’s interrogation.

[Kizaru] “Your record speaks for itself, Leo. However, make no mistake, I am now watching. This mission cannot be hindered for anything or anyone.”

Words that would come foreign to Kizaru. The man was typically laid-back. However, something about this mission or Leo’s falter, or both, showed a new side of him. Did Kizaru have second intentions of his own? A foreshadowing, perhaps. One made more the grave by Chimera’s words coming in between them.
[Chimera] “A high probability exists that man’s voice was a member of our World Government. To get into the Vault of Marijeous without being seen nor heard... only those who have been there before could pull such a heist.”

Silence took the room again. Tsuru frowned her lips. Someone who knew her as a child, who had been to Marijeous. Try as she might, the memories escaped her. Strife was an accurate word. Who could they trust? Chimera gave some re-assuring words, before turning to the rest of the plan.

[Chimera] “No matter who it is, we need to persevere with Justice. Z was such a man. Leo took care of that. The same needs to be held here.”
Words of comfort? Or more words of strife? Z had been the sensei of most of them, save for Chimera and Tsuru. There was no time to ponder further. Enki had gone inside a volcano-like opening on the ocean ground floor. Finally, they were in The Abyss.

20,000 meters below the surface. Complete darkness. No light could penetrate. The pressure is so intense, it solidifies the water. Enki was no longer swimming, he was literally skipping through solidified water, as if down a hill of darkness. A specialized coating surrounded Enki, protecting him from the pressure, but for how long?

Loud groaning would take the hull. They could no see outside. But it was clear. They were not alone.

Admiral Kizaru had posed a question to Leo, a question that Leo promptly answered. The answer was to the satisfaction of all, though Kizaru did point out that he would be watching.

Don't let your eyes dry up from all the intense watching, Kizaru.

Leo said. His answer was somewhat poking, though it was likely that no one here would flip out over some banter. However, Leo did have a point. Kizaru had overstepped a line. Leo was a Hero of the Marines, a powerful man, and a man of Absolute Justice with a record that was completely untarnished. For Kizaru to doubt a man of Absolute Justice was nothing short of crossing a line that should not be crossed. But, one could not blame Kizaru either.

With Leo's fists now magically healed and the questions posed to him answered, Enki delved deeper toward the Abyss. The ocean water itself started to solidify under the pressure of the depths, which was quite an unfathomable phenomenon - one that most people in the world had never seen. With so many Devil Fruit eaters onboard, there would without a doubt be a sense of comfortability. If something were to happen to Enki, this deep underwater, everyone would be dead. Protecting Enki was of utmost importance.

And just as those thoughts were in Leo's mind, a loud groan took the hull. Was something dangerous just outside?

Admiral Kizaru and Leo locked eyes. The Hero’s jest was met with the same stoic glare. There was a tension in the air between the two. Their relationship quickly came to an edge. That edge was irrupted by groaning. Enki had made it to The Abyss, skipping down the solid water. The pressure was implacable - who or what lived in these conditions?

The group all moved to the table. With a button, a curtain-like object moved. Admiral Kizaru had appeared at the top. He became light. What seems to be a human beam of light shot through the window. Like a flashlight, Kizaru lit the outside. Truly, the group was handpicked to perfection.

[Dalmatian] “N-N-N-No w-w-way!”
[Onigumo] “That thing must be… as big as the Red Line!”

Everyone’s eyes widened, even Chimera’s eyes. What stood outside was something unfathomable. What stood outside was a humongous being, a shadow. A shadow so huge it rivaled the Red Line. The only thing seen clearly in the darkness was large red eyes. Whatever it was, it was clear: it could crush them with a breath.

Chimera ordered Enki to continue, to avoid The Shadow. The turtle kept going deepe, skipping through the solidified. The Shadow seemed undisturbed, it’s eyes stalking them. Eventually, the darkness would be disturbed by a light. Enki had reached the Abyss floor. There, was a volcano-like opening. Fire flames out from it. The entrance.

[Chimera] “There it is, cherries. The Entrance to Pangea.”

They made it. Suddenly, the volcano-like opening was shut. A part of The Shadow covered it. They couldn’t possibly battle this being. What now?

Enki groaned and the pace at which the group has been descending slowed. Enki was no longer swimming lightly through water - instead, it was skipping through much more solidified water, the deep pressure working its magic to create a terrain that was truly unfathomable - and scary. Light no longer reached down here, and so Kizaru lighted up the area outside by projecting a lot of light outside. It was at that moment that the group saw a shadow outside. Leo's eyes widened and a drop of sweat rolled down his face. He trembled for a moment, as did the rest of them. The gigantic shadow was of such scale that one could not help but feel at danger. Enki skipped deeper, and the gigantic shadow left Enki and the group in peace. A few minutes later, some light finally came from elsewhere - not Kizaru. A volcano was bubbling on the seabed. Chimera, gazing upon it, gave it context. That was the entrance to Pangea.

A sign of relief came next - they had made it. But, that all quickly changed when the shadow covered the volcano, blocking off the entrance. What now? Were they to fight this thing? Was it even strong, or just big? Was it even real, or just a shadow?

With zero information on it, one could not do much. Leo took out the Den Den Mushi from earlier and tried to call again. Would he be able to get a hold of Lia this time, and would she know anything about this?

Everyone inside looked like a ghost at the being that rivaled the Red Line, even Chimera himself. Dalmatian and Onigumo could not stop shaking. Tsuru’s loud gulp echoed. Kizaru’s quivering sigh finished the set. The being could crush Zuneshia like a bug. To it, Enki was a mere tick.

Enki made it below, steering clear of the monster with unrivaled red eyes. The group did not disturb the being. The group made it to the entrance of Pangea. Suddenly, their way was barred by the creature.

Thr group looked at each other. Leo called the den den mushi. No one picked up, but there was static on the other end - was it in range? Nervous arguments arose between the group. They had come all this way. What now? The commanding officer took a deep breath and spoke.
[Chimera] “There is only one way to open up the entrance now. it will take all of us. One grand attack.”

There was immediate opposition. Tsuru turned to Chimera, likely the only one who would address him as such.

[Tsuru] “Are you insane, Chimera? You know what that is! There is no way it would be harmed! The pressure would kill us in seconds!”
[Borsalino] “How much time until the pressure destroys our coats?”
Borsalino cut in. His hand was in his chin, deep in thought. He made a good point. Even Enki’s coating had begun to crack. Even his coating would fall soon.

[Chimera] “90 seconds. If you use your powers, I’d halve that time. Even then, there is no guarantee.”
[Dalmatian] “It could work. Have you ever moved to scratch an itch? Such size, it’s movements could create a whirlpool and suck us all into the exit.”

As a dog, Dalmatian knew well of itches and scratching. More silence. The group tried to understand the plight. Could they do it? What choice did they have? Would the mission end here? How much time Enki had? These questions plagued their mind. Some began to think to abandon the mission - live to fight another day. No one voiced it. Chimera was not one to accept failure.

[Onigumo] “What happens if we fail?”

[Chimera] “Death. The same result if we stand idle. Enki does not have much time either.”

Admiral Kizaru was cast in a shadow. The leader, he moved deliberately towards the hatch. The group was shocked. Tsuru shook her head, cursing as she went. Onigumo and Dalmatian waited for Leo. Chimera gave them some parting words, words to stick with them in the gauntlet of mission of death.

[Chimera] “Who do you think the real enemy is?”
Words that would stick with them. Who was the real enemy? What did Chimera mean? There was a moment of solace. A moment of reflection as each pondered on their lIves and loved ones before embarking on the most dangerous group mission short of the Void Century. Let Justice be your guide.

[Chimera] “Stay true to your Justice. Let that be your guiding light. When the darkness clouds your heart, when the heart clouds your judgment, let Justice be your guide.”
[Chimera] “This Moment, This Battle, Humanity’s Continued Survival Depends On It, So Once More, For Humanity’s Sake, Dedicate Your Hearts!”

The infamous Marine slammed his hand on the table, his spirit leaking in strobes. The very air was filled with it. A parting gift in the form of a motivating speech to those who would venture to the entrance of Pangea. If they made it, they would be alone; Chimera had to stay and resurface with Enki, to come back for them later. Justice would be their guide.

The Contemporaries put their special coats on and waited for the hatch to rise. They had 45 seconds. Do or die.

The time was upon them. A great decision. Were they to make the right decision, they would proceed with the mission. But, if they were to make a mistake, the World Government could lose some of their most powerful, experienced and knowledgeable individuals. A great hit to the Navy, and it would not even come at the hands of pirates. Without a doubt, there was a lot of pressure on Chimera, who was put in charge of this mission. And yet, despite the fact that all of the pressure was on him, he was the one who had the easiest time in making a decision. Such were his nerves of steel. Admiral Kizaru asked how much time they had, while Vice Admiral Tsuru opposed the idea of attacking the gigantic shadow altogether. In doing so, she mentioned that Chimera knew what that thing was, a comment that caught Leo's attention - but now was not the time to ask.

Admiral Kizaru started to put on the special suit and started to move toward the hatch. Vice Admirals Onigumo and Dalmatian were shocked and waited to see what Vice Admiral Leo would do. All eyes were on him - the attack would not work without him.

With a serious glare on his face, Leo spoke.

It's easy to talk about Justice when bickering around a table. Let's see who can actually dish it out the strongest.

Leo said, referring to their earlier bickering. That was done with, now it was time to show who had guts. Leo put on his suit and then opened the palm of his right hand, facing it up toward the ceiling. Atop the palm of his hand, a raging sphere of fire was formed. Every few seconds, the sphere would grow some, but immediately condense. An enormous amount of fire was being compressed into a small sphere.

I haven't showed this to anyone yet, but I get the feeling we won't be successful unless I do it.

Leo said. Suddenly, he started to undergo a transformation. Wisps of blue fire appeared on his body, multiplying quickly. His feet transformed into a Phoenix's talons, and his left arm transformed into a Phoenix's wing. A shocked look appeared on everyone's faces. They knew of this Devil Fruit. But how? Leo was the eater of the Mera Mera no Mi. There was only one answer, but it was unbelievable. Was he the same as the legendary Yonkou Blackbeard? The only other man to have eaten two Devil Fruits and survived? Just that ability on his own, would change Leo's standing in the world.

During Leo's transformation, an enormous amount of fire had compressed into a condensed Entei resting on the palm of Leo's hand. He walked toward the hatch, joining Admiral Kizaru. Leo looked over his shoulder, telling Vice Admirals Onigumo and Dalmatian to get ready.

Let's see you at your best, men.

Leo said.

The scene switched to the outside of Enki. The Navy's strongest were racing through the thick water, toward the entrance of Pangea like torpedoes they went. Kizaru's right leg was giving off enormous rays of light, illuminating far and wide. The miniature sun in Leo's hand warmed the hearts of his allies just through sheer presence, here in the dark cold depths. Vice Admirals Onigumo and Dalmatian followed, both transformed into their Hybrd forms.

ALRIGHT YOU FUCKING GIANT, WE'RE GOING THROUGH!

Leo roared, and the four men converged, attacking in sync.

Vice Admiral Dalmatian spun rapidly, extending his arms and canine claws outward, turning himself into a spinning razor, screaming with Busou-shoku no Haki.

Vice Admiral Onigumo employed all of his multiple limbs and swords, swinging them with his strongest might, unleashing an enormous flying slash.

Admiral Kizaru hurled his right leg forward, unleashing a powerful kick that erupted with a heavily charged laser, creating enough explosive energy to rupture an island.

Leo hurled his right arm forward, unleashing a powerful palm strike that combined the Navy's strongest, Rokuougan, with Leo's strongest, Entei. Black Busou-shoku no Haki tempered the attack. This one would be an enormous shockwave of fire.

Cutting force, explosive energy, raging fire, all clad with black Busou-shoku no Haki.

Vice Admirals Dalmatian and Onigumo gave it their all, creating great contributions. However it was Admiral Kizaru's and Vice Admiral Leo's attacks that could, individually, destroy an island. Together, the might was unprecedented. The attack would create a shockwave that liquefied the water in a few hundred meter radius, a grand display. Would it suffice?

Onigumo's DPR: 81-100: 5. Large Building Level + S:+4 + COA: +1 = 10. Island Level

Dalmatian's DPR: 81-100: 5. Large Building Level + S:+4 + COA: +1 = 10. Island Level

Kizaru's DPR: 120: 7. Town Level + S+:+5 (didn't want to use up his Z) + COA: +3 = 15. Moon Level

Leo's DPR: 8. City Level + Z: +6 + COA: +2 = 16. Planet Level

Together DPR: Plus Ultra

Inside Enki ———> Pangean Abyss
Chimera gave a scathing call to battle. Words permeated with the question who the enemy was. Swallowing the words of a warcry, The Contemporaries followed Admiral Kizaru and Vice-Admiral Leo to the hatch. A second surge of will came when Leo showed a new power.

Even Kizaru’s eyes widened. Onigumo grit his teeth with jealously. They would be in awe. There was no time to chat, for the latch opened to the Abyss.
[Leo] “ALRIGHT YOU FUCKING GIANT, WE'RE GOING THROUGH!

Those words were tempered by an attack Plus Ultra. Such was the might. An attack that could decimate an archipelago. An attack that could claim the Pirate King himself. An attack that many would not even believe, simply ramblings of scarred soldiers. The grand attack illuminated the area, turning the solid water to gas. Plus Ultra.

On the surface, all the way 20,000 meters up in the New World, the surface of the water shook lightly, scaring the fish away. Garp, fishing on his Warship, cursed.

[Garp] “Damn you, you rotten fish! GET BACK HERE!

30 seconds.

The shadow has not moved an inch. The Contemporaries were watching the opening with desperation. Yet, it did not move. Tsuru, having stayed back during the attack, collected a strange energy on her palm. Dalmatian gulped, his mind racing. He counted down inside his bubble coat, communicated to the others in their own coat.

[Dalmatian] “20… 19… 18… 17…”
Onigumo cursed. Sweat ran down his forehead. Was there even time for the Shadow to move? Was this it?

Suddenly, light from the Pangea portal shone. The shadow shook its limb, almost trying to shake off a itch. A light, one may call it a wound, was on the center of where the attack hit. The being was so large, a mere shake shook the whole Pangean Abyss. With it, the Shadow lifted its limb momentarily. This caused a massive whirlpool around them, sucking them into the fiery gate.

[Dalmatian] “12… 11… 10… 9… W-we‘re n-n-not going to make it!!””
[Tsuru] “Wash your mouth!”

Confident words. Tsuru suddenly unleashed the wave of energy. The orb disappeared in the solidified water. An awakening combined with Haki. Suddenly, the whirlpool became “washed”. This increased the speed of the whirlpool hundreds-fold (pun intended). The Contemporaries spun at blurring speeds, losing sight of their surroundings.

2 seconds.

The last thing The Contemporaries would see was the light of the Entrance of Pangea behind them. They had made it, with nay a second left.

Welcome to the Old World. Welcome to Pangea.

Admiral Kizaru, Marine Hero Leo, Vice Admiral Onigumo and Vice Admiral Dalmatian roared, unleashing a combination attack that could very well, easily, rupture an island. The massive shockwave of heat and power liquified the dense solidified water all around, turning it back to normal under these high pressure circumstances. However, the colossal shadow did not budge. Moments of silence and nervousness followed as time started to become of the essence. That is, until suddenly, the creature budged. It pulled its hand away from the entrance of Pangea, ever so slowly. Such a creature could probably not move very quickly, but it did not need to. Even a slow and steady movement of its massive limb displaced an enormous amount of water, creating a whirlpool. The light on the other side of the entrance of Pangea showed, and the enormous whirlpool sucked everyone in.

While unconscious, Leo's mind took him into his past.

A much younger Leo, still without an eye patch or facial hair, was seen confronting, or perhaps confronted by, a woman. The woman had her arms folded across her chest, each of her hands tucked into the opposite sleeve. She was quite small in stature, much smaller than Leo at least, and had blond hair reaching almost down to the floor. The look on her face was one of agitation, and her intense aura was one of killer intent.

Oi Burns, explain it to me. What kind of a fucking moron eats all of the food in the fridge and doesn't replace it? HUH?!

The woman said, Leo replying with a stoic look on his face.

I'm way bigger than you, I should be eating way more. A shrimp like you shouldn't even need food.

Leo said, enraging the woman further. Suddenly her aura erupted, she pushed off and leapt at Leo, performing a roundhouse kick without ever unfolding her arms. Leo managed to block it, but the power behind the kick sent him flying.

A SHRIMP?!

Suddenly, the flashback ended, and Leo awoke in Pangea, deep in thought.

Pangean Plains
Welcome to the Old World. The Contemporaries were ushered in a vortex. Memories, flashbacks, and recall of the mission letter would bite at their subconscious, for even at the beginning the clues were there. A haven, yea. Retake the black. Welcomed by the howling of primordial wolves staring at the fear-addled sheep to slaughter.

The group had crashed into a mountain ridge from a sky. For miles and miles all that could be seen was sulfur. Plains stretching as far as the eye can see. No plant life existed, only desolate crusted volcanic rock. The vortex that brought them to Pangea was above them. Much to their surprise, gravity was dual. Somehow, the volcano was upside down. Etched across the “sky” were cities carved into several small “moons”, all red with volcanic activity, lighting the area.

Howling would echo. Kizaru, Tsuru, Leo, Dalmatian, and Onigumo pulled themselves from the tepid earth. They found themselves at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pangean Plains. They all looked to the horizon, their eyes widening in shock.

Dalmatian fell to his knees, punching the ground. Onigumo took a step back, his voice quivering. The howling would overtake them, like fear-addled sheep to slaughter.

[Onigumo] “Y-y-y-you see, Leo. T-t-t-this is what happens w-w-when you deviate from Absolute Justice...”

[Dalmatian] “N-N-No! After everything we have been through! Everything! Just for it all to end here!”

Both men appalled to what they saw. Tsuru stood up, a curt smile on her face. She crossed her arms as she gazed to the horizon, her voice playful yet honest. Words cut with remorse in the face of the howling of the primordial wolves.

[Tsuru] “Listen up! I want these words carved on my headstone: ‘Here lies the Great Advisor, killed by Leo’s stupid decision to capture the enemy’. Tsuhuhuhu!”
Kizaru eyes were wide, his face draped in a shadow. It was the first time any of them, even Tsuru herself, saw him with fear. He heard Tsuru’s words, and his face changed. From fear to a smile. From a smile to a laugh. An unnatural laugh in the face of Tsuru’s true but pedantic joke. This was all Leo’s fault.

The Contemporaries stared down an army.

Thousands. Thousands of Primordials littered the plains like ants revolting from a stirred nest. Each with at least the strength of a Rear Admiral. Almost fifty had the same strength as Dalmatian and Onigumo. About a dozen claimed an aura similar to an Admiral. One in particular, in the middle, had an aura recognizable. Behind them were at least six behemoth Primordials, ranging from Oars to Giant, all with power that could not be deciphered.

Welcome to Pangea. Welcome to the Great Pangean War.

Consequence from Butterfly Effect #2
When Leo chose to capture the Tracker, he gained valuable intel. However, it alerted Pangea. The Primordials planned an army as a welcome mat. Should Leo have killed the tracker, as Tsuru instructed him, they would have infiltrated Pangea stealthily, yet lost that valuable intel.

It all could be tracked back to Leo’s decision.
Decision: Kill or Capture the Tracker
  • Leo chose to capture the Tracker
Butterfly Effect:
  • + Valuable Intel
    • Contemporaries will gain valuable intel on the weaknesses of the Primordials and hints of their true origin.
  • - Lost Element of Surprise
    • Tracker sent information to Pangea. Pangea now knows of the Contemporaries’ roster, powers, and imminent arrival.

After a mysterious and violent start to the mission, the group was sucked into a powerful vortex. Everyone's lives and pasts flashed in front of their eyes - for Leo personally, memories of a woman surfaced. How much time had passed as Leo was reminiscing, was anyone's guess, for everyone else was experiencing such similar things also, but before long, Leo awakened. He opened his eyes, deep in thought in regard to his memories. However, the sheer incredibility of Pangea would quickly snap him out of those thoughts and summon his attention. Still laying on his back and staring up at the ''sky'', Leo saw the volcano above them. It was upside down. Small moons littered the sky, and etched into those moons were civilizations and cities. Leo elevated into a sitting position, looking around to confirm the presence of his allies. Everyone was there, also waking up. Leo stood up. As he did, the landscape of Pangea spanned in front of him.

Overlooking a vast terrain from atop a cliff, Leo saw the fiery nature of Pangea. The fire would not bother him, for he was fire himself. However, there was danger. Vice Admirals Onigumo and Dalmatian quivered with fear, the former blaming Leo for having spared the primordial earlier, while the latter was seemingly giving up at the sight of the opposition. Vice Admiral Tsuru and Admiral Kizaru also showed fear, though the two were more confident about it, with smiles on their faces. Leo had a stern look on his face. The group was overlooking an army of truly terrifying proportions.

Deep inside, Leo felt fear. However, now was no time to show it.

I'm assuming we're not going to stand here and cower in fear. If that's your plan, I will be taking over this mission. So, what will it be?

Leo said, reaching into his pocket. He dialled ''that'' Den Den Mushi once again. Now that they reached Pangea, would there be more luck?

The Great Pangean War #19

Pangean Plains
Welcome to the Great Pangean War. The Contemporaries starred down an army of terrifying proportions, nay having been collected in the sea above. Leo’s decision to waver in his Absolute Justice set forth a cataclysm of events that led to The Great Pangean War. Greeted by thousands, the very earth shook in recognition.

The group met the War with mixed emotions. Leo masked his fear with bravado, shot down quickly by Tsuru; she was the Commanding Officer in the absence of Chimera. Leo’s valiant aura led them to stand tall. However, the events created by Leo had not finished revealing themselves. One more showed itself, a decision before even Pangea.

Leo called his den den mushi. Finally, there was an answer. The line went silent for a few seconds before a breathing sound of a woman could be heard. Suddenly, the den den mushi was disconnected, and a familiar voice swept through the plains.

[Voice] “Roshi’s most gifted successor... What happened to that Absolute Justice you boasted about? Set aside by a mere ‘shrimp’?”
Shrimp. An adjective of Leo’s colorful past. The voice knew. What’s more, those words: “Roshi’s Most Gifted Successor”, was eerily familiar.

In the middle of the army, climbing on top of one of the Giant Pangean monsters head was a figure. A large, tall, muscled man walked into view. Deep wrinkles covered his face, spawning off his black shades. His body, half of it, was now black, re-made more powerful than ever with cells of the Primordials. Yet, that legendary purple hair still glowed.

[Kizaru] “That aura… No… It can’t be!”
The Admiral’s eyes widened. Tsuru leaned forward, her heart skipping a beat. Dalmatian and Onigumo could not believe their eyes. The voice was familiar in more ways than one. The voice who had spoken to them through the communicator. A voice old. A voice who spoke to Tsuru like a comrade. A voice who knew about the Vault.

Fresh out from La Spada’s raid of Impel Down, it was a voice who addressed Leo as “Roshi’s Most Gifted Successor” in a familiar manner.

[Zephyr] “Welcome to Pangea, runts. Now, let Sensei give you one last lesson..”

  1. Here. Voice mentioned Leo’s Absolute Justice, the response Leo gave Zephyr before his fall. Voice knew all of Contemporaries personally.
  2. Here. Tsuru said only those who knew her in her youth call her Tsuru-chan. At this point, had to be an old legend who is well familiar with Marines.
  3. Here. Chimera said it was someone high-ranking of WG, as only Admiral level (or equivalent like Garp/Tsuru) knew of the Vault. In same post, Chimera foreshadowed the return by mentioning Z’s defeat.
  4. Bonus: As seen in Kizaru bio, he holds a grudge to Leo for what he did to his sensei. To further plant the bad blood between Kizaru and Leo, Z’s return is the only thing that makes sense as the next boiling point.

As the group looked over the vast terrain and the army of Primordials in front of them, Leo rang ''that'' Den Den Mushi one more time. Perhaps now that they were in Pangea, he would have more luck - that was his thought process. And after a few rings, his hypothesis turned out to be correct. The line was picked up, which surprised even Leo.

Lia?

Leo said, hoping to hear her voice. However, all that came from the other side was the heavy breathing of a woman. Was it Lia? Was she ok? Before Leo could find out, the line was cut. Soon thereafter, a powerful, booming voice swept over the area. Coming from atop one of the massive Primordials, the voice belonged to a man. It was familiar. It didn't take long for everyone to recognize it. He was a peer of Vice Admiral Tsuru. He was an instructor of Admiral Kizaru and Vice Admiral Leo. And he was a legend to Vice Admirals Onigumo and Dalmatian. Standing atop the massive Primordial, was a man of muscle and power. He fell in battle against Leo when he was older and riddled with ailments. But somehow, the man was alive, and likely stronger in body than ever before.

The shocked looks were seen on the Marines' faces. Leo, in particular, was taken aback. Zephyr, the legendary Marine, spoke of a ''shrimp'' of a woman. It was undoubtedly about Lia. Zephyr welcomed everyone to Pangea, and stated that he would give them one last lesson.

Instructor Zephyr... what is this?! What are you doing here?!

Leo said, demanding an answer.
