Sneak Attack! #6

@Sea

Caribou’s body slammed against the mast. One down. The gravediggers looked perplexed. Sun saw the many gravediggers now turned to him. He was surrounded, and Sun had not confirmed the fall of Coribou. The agent took a deep breath, entering a state of hypnosis. Sun began swaying side-to-side ominously.

A technique copied from Captain Kuro. A mindless beast was born.

[Sun Wukong] “Shakushi...
Sun disappeared from his position and purple smoke emanated from his initial spot. The agent appeared at various parts of the ship, using two knives he drew to slash the gravediggers mercilessly. Unable to distinguish targets, Sun attacked indiscriminately. An added benefit was that Caribou was on the deck, and so, he would also be a target - confirming his fall.

The man in trance had no mercy. A ruthless agent slumbered within.

Sun needed to take control of the situation, there are a lot of Gravediggers – even if they aren’t a match for the Cipher Pol Agent, the ability to use numerical advantage will eventually take a toll on Sun. Using his martial prowess to move around the ship, indiscriminately taking out Gravediggers by the dozens. However, he would find Caribou not on the deck at the moment, thus he is safe from Sun’s attack. With dozens taken out, many more would start coming out from under the ship after hearing a lot of agonizing screams from the Gravediggers. But what is more importantly, Caribou himself as appeared, coming out of the captain’s quarters – he would notice Coribou temporarily knocked out by the pillar of the mast, and the fact that one man he never seen before given how his clothing do not match the Gravediggers, it is an intruder.

“Kehihihihihi seem like we have a new person to bury! Someone go and dig a hole in the ship!”

As Caribou spoke and commands one of the Gravediggers to do so, the rest would start to take a few steps back, allowing Caribou to approach Sun, his arms start to melt in a brown goo, the liquid substance which Caribou is producing is thick and viscous. One look at Caribou and he would know direct combat may not be the best choice especially since he is alone, unless he is aware of the nature of Caribou’s powers, it can be a dangerous situation if not approached with care. The mud-like substance would start to produce increase its surface area, slowly but surely encroaching onto Sun’s feet.

The gravediggers fell by the dozens, the attack indiscriminate. The agent stopped as words from the target came. Bounty and lore committed to memory, Sun recognized Caribou. The agent knew some of his abilities; Caribou was not exactly the stealth type with his crimes. All confirmed with the brown goop emanating from his body.

Sun took a step back as the goop advanced, kicking both legs up as he flipped.

[Sun Wukong] “Rankyaku: Renge!!!!
The very air became bladed, rushing Caribou from a curved angle, aiming to slice him from his right and left side. The attack had no haki, but it should serve to push the goop back and confirm Sun’s intel on the captain’s power.

As the blades left him, Sun grabbed a fallen gravedigger and threw it to the goop as an experiment. The agent had drawn his Sarurobi pole. The battle was on. The mission was staring him in the face.

Sun needed to confirm the abilities of Caribou, which he would know if he can land an attack on Caribou himself, a Logia user. However, Caribou isn’t as stupid as he would look to be, they are in the New World after all, a point in the seas where Devil Fruits are no longer a rare occurrence. Sun would fire a variant of Rankyaku as he backed off from Caribou and his muddy liquid, arcing in a strange angle towards Caribou. However, from a distance at this range, Caribou could easily move away, not letting the attack hit him whether or not it has Haki to ensure his real body would be hit. His not as easily fooled despite his seemly clumsy attitude.

Jumping towards the side, Caribou immediately started to expand his swampy arms towards Sun, generating a large amount of swamp substance in the shape of a ball of gloop projectile towards him. Before Caribou would want to bury him, he would have to slow Sun enough to trap him into his never-ending swamp body.

"Kehihihihi! Seems like you want to be buried after all!"

The captain dodged the air blades. It did not confirm his intel, but did not dispute it eithe. The agent would not be careless and assume his intel was untrue. The gravedigger he tossed into the mud presumably got swallowed up by same, confirming the power to absorb. Sun needed to stay away from it.

That would take some doing, for a ball goop came at him. Sun reacted by vaulting over it, using the ability of Geppo to propel himself towards Caribou after. Vaulting forward, Sun would be over the goop on the floor that was in front of Caribou. It seems Sun would fall into it.

Suddenly, Sun stabbed his Sarutobi pole into the ground, using it as a hand-stand. Sun used it to spin, bringing his extended legs in a spinning maneuver kick against Caribou, his legs blades and picking up wind. Another Captain Kuro original.

[Sun Wukong] “Cat Spin!!!!
At the end of the spin, Sun aimed to kick Caribou with bladed feet, using invisible haki for the first time on his legs. As he spun, a mini tornado formed, theoretically blowing the goop away and Caribou, hopefully along with the abled kick.

The fallen gravedigger would start to sink into the ground upon falling onto the muddy substance, this would ensure certain aspects of the Numa abilities is confirmed and a new plan to deal with the Numa is slowly being refined for the Cipher Pol agent. With the slimy goop fired towards Sun, the agent would utilize Geppo to vault over it, all this would translate into a pole vaulting move used with his weapon to swing himself around, winding up his moves. Caribou noticed the attack being ‘charged up’ and immediately generate a large amount of swamp substance in front of him – create a large, thick wall that towers both Caribou and Sun at the same time. Once Sun initiated his whirl of tornado attack towards Caribou, the wall would stand against Sun but Sun would quickly chip away the wall, splattering mud everywhere towards the ship, and ultimately break the wall by drilling a hole past it and causing multiple small cuts on Caribou’s body.

Caribou DPR: 41-60: 3. Wall/Tree Level + B: + 2 = 81-100: 5. Large Building Level
Result: Sun wins. DPR remaining: 1

Caribou’s Durability: 41-60: 3. Large Building Level
Result: DPR 2 or more below dura: Not very effective

However, while taking damage isn’t part of the plan, the Numa user utilize continues to produce mud around them. Even if the wall was broken apart by Sun, the most dangerous part of the Numa is the ability to drag anyone that has made contact with it into the bottomless depths. With the muddy substances now surrounding Sun, it is now easier to completely trap Sun with his powers by using the remains of the mud around to try and engulf the Cipher Pol agent.

“Kehihihi! Looks like we got you now…!”

Caribou would continue to laugh rather maniacally, behind Sun is Coribou – whom recovered from the previous attack now readies his shovels, an overhead slam of the shovel would be made by Coribou right now on Sun, whether or not he is trapped by the Numa, the opportunity to take a possible free hit of the agent.

The agent used his tornado-like attack to drill through the mud, at the same time pushing away any immediate mud. However, Caribo quickly send it after him. Sun used Geppo to jump up. Sun managed to evade capture, grabbing the pole with his tail. However, upon doing so, the brother appeared, much to the agent’s surprise, slamming the shovel on Sun’s head as he Geppou‘d to the sky.

The shovel forced Sun‘s mouth to close, his teeth gritting and blood to trickle from his mouth. Pain rushed over him. The agent held, however, pushing upwards, tanking the hit. Sun used this opportunity to grab brother Coribo’s leg right after he hit Sun. With a spin, Sun threw the brother to the ground, right onto the deck. Depending on the Captain, it may or may not have mud.

Upon spinning and throwing the brother, Sun spun one last time, bringing his outward leg into a kick - concentrated bladed wind zipping downward like a bird.

[Sun Wukong] “Rankyaku ‘Gaicho’!!!!
A large blade wind, the size of the ship horizontally, would seek the brother Coribo. Regardless of whether it hit, given its size, the large blade would be aimed to do something else; Sun’s ace in the hole. The Rankyaku had such power, it would be able to cleave the entire ship in half (see spoiler).

The rudder had been destroyed. The mast had been broken. Now, the very ship would potentially collapse. The ship may slowly sink. With land nowhere near, the Numa man was in danger. Clock would now be ticking.

The tag team between Caribou and Coribou would gave them the need firepower to score a hit on Sun as the distraction by Caribou prompts Sun back towards the loving embrace of Coribou’s shovel. Hit with a pretty painful slam onto his head, Sun however is pretty smart, taking the opportunity to grab Coribou’s leg and threw him to the ground, causing his head to slam the ground, causing some damage to Coribou, but not enough to completely take him out. Sun would ultimately jump back up to the sky, before firing an air blade – aimed directly at the ship hull integrity, almost immediately slicing the ship in half. The damage to the ship is intensive, Caribou immediately took the attack as a signal of understanding what Sun is planning. Using his swamp powers, he produced a large amount of smart – trying to use the slimy substance to hold the ship together whilst Coribou quickly commanded the Gravediggers to try and repair the ship to prevent it from sinking.

“Kehihihihi…!”

Caribou continues to laugh, confident in his own ability to deal with Sun – prompting the pirate to quickly fire several large blobs of muddy substance towards Sun, trying to force him back down. Regardless of this, it may be unlikely that Sun would be able to do much to Caribou Pirates unless he wishes to continue destroying the ship, which would be the safest method of deating Caribou and his crew.

Caribou saw the agent’s intent and used mud. Sun knew it could not hold for long, for the ship was bisected in half. Yet, he needed to do more. At this rate, exhaustion would come soon.

Caribou was successful in forcing Sun to come down from the air. The agent Geppoued towards the bow of the ship, using his momentum to come down first-first into the prow of the ship with all his might.

[Sun Wukong] “Not long now…
With his fist, strong enough to level a small building, Sun aimed to break the prow of the ship. The prow being naturally less stable than the rest of the ship, Sun aimed to have it snap, forcing water to rush in and the boat to continue to sink.

Sun did not use a technique to avoid losing more stamina. Instead, he picked up a piece of wood and threw it towards Coribo, it ragged on the edge and thrown by the agent’s strength. Sun was at the edge of the ship, the prow behind him. His eyes stalked Caribou, the real threat.

Sun knew his limits – taking down Caribou Pirates isn’t as easy as he would have thought, his stamina isn’t limitless, thus he would do the safest and best way to take out Caribou Pirates by destroying the ship. While Sun may not know if the Caribou have a way to deal with the ship sinking, it is objectively worth testing it out. If Caribou sinks, the game is over for the pirates. Using Geppo to get towards the prow of the ship, Sun drives his fist into the ship, breaking the ship front section with ease. This prompts Coribou to start taking out his gun and took aim at Sun, shooting at him with simple bullets that aim to injure Sun.

Caribou would concentrate on holding the ship together as more Gravediggers work to repair the ship, the ship is sinking fast, but once certain repairs are done the ship can stay afloat better. Caribou Pirates only needed to hang on. Gravediggers continue to flood the ship’s deck, protecting Caribou.

The deck was now flooded with Gravediggers, trying to hold the ship together. An uphill task, no doubt. This also crippled Cariboyu, for if he wanted to flood the ship with mud, he’s only drown his own men, disabling their ship-repairing methods. While the gravediggers were distracted with the ship, and Caribou in keeping it together via mud, Sun took advantage, He sough the weak link.

[Sun Wukong] “You’ll never hit me with that! Kami-e: Slime!”

Moving his body like a slime, Sun weaved by the bullets, while at the same time approaching Coribo. As he went, Sun hit gravediggers in the way with bare fists, switching his pole from his tail to his right hand. Suddenly, by way of Kami-e Slime, the agent appeared on top of Coribo, pole cocked back.

[Sun Wukong] “Shigan: Cue!!!

The end of Sun’s pole flew like a bullet, aiming to hit Coribo in his head, using the Kami-e Slime to acrobatically and quickly counter. With the brother badly wounded, Sun hoped it would prevent quick movement to dodge. The end of the staff aimed to seriously injure the brother. Whether or not it would hit him, the pole or Coribo’s body would hit the deck, likely making a hole through the ship and down to the hull, further damaging the ship.

Once the pole hit the ground, Sun used it to vaul away, keeping his eyes on Caribou. Once more, Sun saved vitality by not utilizing haki.

Sun moved quickly around, dodging bullets fired by Coribou and getting above him very quickly, Coribou’s rifle is bolt action thus rapid fire is not a thing for him. This prompts Coribou to immediately drop his gun and punch forward – but is met with the pole before he could defend himself properly. This led to Sun’s attack hitting straight to the face, causing Coribou to be smashed downwards into the ship, causing significant amount of damage to the already damaged ship causing the ship to split in half. The only reason the ship wasn’t fully broken in half at this point is due to the mud hanging on but it is obvious even Caribou’s powers are starting to be stretched thin.

“D-Damn you!”

A machine gun started to emerge from Caribou’s swampy body, before a singular tendril of mud would protrude from his body and stick on to a crank like an appendage. Cranking the machine gun up, Caribou would start to fire rather indiscriminately towards Sun, ignoring Gravediggers in the path of fire. Caribou knew the ship is failing, but if he don't get rid of Sun, it will be over for Caribou Pirates.

The agent barreled Coribo’s body against the ship, it’s overwhelming force breaking the ship further. Sun landed next to the body, turning to hear Caribou’s frustration and bullets.

Sun had no real time to react. He crossed his arms in front of him, covering his vital spots. Some bullets hit. The agent quickly grabbed Coribo’s body and jumped sideways, dodging the rest of the spray.

[Sun Wukong] “Ugh! Haaaa… Haaa…

Sun was tired. The agent’s tail once again grabbed his Sarutobi pole. He had more left in him, but knew he had to play things carefully. Thankfully, he was not against time; Caribou was. The ship was slowly sinking.

The agent used Coribo’s body as a shied should the captain think to attack again. Sun stopped a few meters from Carobou, outside of the mud on the floor. The agent brought a small knife against Coribo’s unconscious body as he propped him up. Knife against the jugular.

[Sun Wukong] “Drop the weapon! I have no quarrel with your brother - only you. If you come quietly to Impel Dpwn, I will spare your kin.”

[Sun Wukong] “Will the captain sink with his ship? Your choice!”

The agent panted, lobbying his threat. He had cuffs in his pocket. As the ship slowly sank, how would the captain react?

The indiscriminate attack would hit several Gravediggers, and with Sun’s actions to utilize Coribou’s body as a shield prompting Caribou to wind down his weapon in hesitation – but Caribou puts himself above even Coribou in regards to safety, which as soon as Sun spoke about having no quarrel, wanting to spare Coribou only if Caribou surrenders, the Logia users only thinks about himself, he is not willing to go to Impel Down – he matters more. Cranking up his machine gun once more, Caribou aims to shoot through Coribou and to Sun, even in this situation.

“Kehihihihi! Then die!!!”

Should Sun put forth Coribou’s body as meat shield, he would find Caribou simply betraying Coribou and simply pierce through the body and hoping to hit Sun with the huge amount of bullets that given such a range, Sun would have little time to truly react. Luckily, there is not much bullets left and once firing this round of bullets the machine gun would simply be emptied out. Caribou is starting to tire out, as his powers stretched thin with the amount of swamp substance he have create to hold on for the ship, and the additional damage prior have caused it to sink faster this time round.

[Sun Wukong] “Y-Y-You monster!”

The Cipher Pol agent panted, his wounds bleeding. With that, a threat was lobbied, using the brother as leverage. However, Caribou was much more wicked than Sun supposed. By drawing his weapon, Caribou intended to forfeit his brother’s life. The pirate had called the agent’s bluff. Sun never intended to take Coribo’s life. Sun had one, perhaps two attacks in him - he was trying to have Caribou stand down.

Bluff called, the agent threw Coribo to the side as the pirate captain took aim. Surprisingly, Sun did not dodge. Instead, he launched himself towards Caribou and towards the bullets with Geppou. His muscles tensed, hardening to the level of iron in mid-air. Tekkai. The bullets bounced off the agent’s skin, as Sun suddenly appeared right above Caribou, punching downward with incredible force.
[Sun Wukong] “Tekkai: Sai!!!!”

The attack aimed to hit the pirate captain in his head, haki used to touch the logia. The strength of the attack was such, weighted by Tekkai that it would be able to break the ground (see link for YouTube video). If Sun failed to hit, the attack would surely finish breaking the ship, causing fissured all over the hull, theoretically forcing it to crack and break.

Sun had jumped back and latched on the the falling mast, outside the mud’s grasp. He immediately took a knee, holding his bleeding wounds.

Sun was taken by surprised thanks to Caribou’s actions – though for Caribou, only his life matters and he would willingly betray anyone for his own survival and benefit. Bullets were fired which Sun would react by quickly increasing his skin density to the steel-like manner, causing bullets to deflect away from the body. With a quick movement the Cipher Pol agent appears above Caribou, prompting the man to look up. Sun would strike down with his body, his attack simply slamming his body down onto Caribou. Given how fast Sun acted, it proved too fast for the pirate whom was slammed directly onto his head, Caribou could only muster his Haki to help better defend himself.

“W-Wait! Please spare meee! I’ll tell you whatever you need to know! I-I’m only hired by the mafia! I’m not the one you want…!”

Caribou started to plead for his life, however he isn’t done – he needs Sun to come closer.

Staring down the wounded Carobou, Sun took a step forward, before his mind came into a flashback. Knelt down, Sun bowed. Sitting magnanimously in a chair was a large man, bearing a scorned look. Cipher Pol 9 Rob Lucci. His words were quick, cut, and staunch.
[Sun Wukong] “An execution? The mission called for imprisonment.”

[Rob Lucci] “I changed the mission. Death only. Caribou has held no quarter, and no quarter shall we afford him. Understood?!”
The mission was clear. Sun approached Caribou, acting as if he was going to take Caribou calmly. Not as it seemed. Sun tricked him. At the last second, before walking into his grasp, Sun kicked his both legs, spawning one large airblades at close-range, buzzing with Haki, enough to cover Caribou’s body while. It would finish cleaving the ship.

[Sun Wukong] “Rankyaku: Hakurai!!!!”

Sun jumped back with the Rankyaku. The agent aimed to execute Sun, using a pirate’s tactic. Whether it worked or not, the ship would likely be down. It shared a similarity with Sun. The agent fell on his knees, totally exhausted. He was spent.

Sun walked towards Caribou calmly, prompting the Logia user to ever so slightly smile under his breath – enough to be cautious of. But with Sun’s decision already made, there is no reason for Sun to think otherwise. As he walked close to Caribou, the Logia user was ready to shank Sun, pretty much before overwhelming the agent with his powers, but Sun whom quickly took steps back essentially prevented Caribou from attacking as he desired. With both legs kicked back, a large air blade was generated, imbued with Haki as it strikes Caribou at close range. Even with Haki however, Caribou’s defense wasn’t good enough, as the attack tore through Caribou, damaging him at point blank immensely.

Caribou Durability vs Sun's DPR: 41-60: 3. Large Building Level + CoA: +1 = 61-80: 4. City Block Level

Results: Sun wins. DPR 2 or more higher than dura: super effective

The air blade would slam Caribou into the ship once more, with enough force to break the ship further, this time ensuring the ship’s hull would not hold any longer even with Caribou’s powers as it broke down, forcing the remaining Gravediggers to essentially abandoning the ship as they got into the water. Dust would obscure Sun’s vision of Caribou as the ship sinks into the depths slowly, with numerous Gravediggers remaining now floating upon the surface of the sea. Assumingly that Sun would likely hold on to pieces of the ship that have not completely sunk, the dust would settle – with Caribou now floating unconsciously on the sea. Coribou seemed to be floating away, still unconscious from Sun’s attacks.

Sun may be completely exhausted, but his mission is not at the end. The Gravediggers still remains and they are not devil fruit users, even in the sea they can still represent a formidable threat to Sun and the large number of Gravediggers could essentially overwhelm Sun, as shown just that as some of the Gravediggers are now approaching the exhausted agent by swimming over with weapons in tow. On the other hand however, just floating on the water is several papers, one however - should Sun took notice is a letter with a broken seal, the seal bearing a strange insignia.

The ship sank. With it, Caribou’s body, cut and thrown aside. Sun, now in water, observed where Caribou’s and Coribo’s body floated. Suddenly, gravediggers came from all around him. The agent quickly took out his den den mushi and called his small ship back, on the double.

Before the gravediggers reached him, Sun threw the knife he had at Caribou. It would be aimed for his jugular. At sea, his powers would be nullified - haki was not needed. Sun was taught to confirm the kill.

The gravediggers upon him, Sun submerged. He was too exhausted to attack. However, he could still move. With superior speed, Sun hoped to swim away, below them. The agent surfaced just enough to grab Coribo’s unconscious body and the paper and swim away towards the waiting ship.
[Sun Wukong] “My mission to kill only extended to your brother. Live with the regret, Coribo.”

If the gravediggers followed, they would find the small ship that came for Sun’s rescue was manned. A volley of bullets would follow to keep them at bay. The agent wished to board the ship. He needed immediate medical attention. Yet, the Caribou scourge was eradicated.

While tended to, the agent pulled the paper he picked up from the sea. His eyes widened at what he read.

Sun would make use of whatever stamina he could muster and prepared his escape, having taken notice of Coribou as well as a peculiar letter, but before he could make his escape – Sun threw a knife towards Caribou, aiming his jugular in an effort to ensure his death. The knife was thrown, and he hit his mark, there was no reaction, aside from blood continuously splattering out of the neck. Even if Caribou isn’t dead, this would ensure him bleeding out very quickly and there is no medic aboard – well not without proper equipment. Caribou’s death is essentially assured. With his incredible speed, Sun took Coribou and the letter, swimming as fast as he could with the Gravediggers chasing him. Soon a small ship would arrive in front of them, Sun is saved – but not the Gravediggers, bullets were fired towards the Gravediggers, taking down several and forcing the rest to back away without any form of defences. True to his mission, the pirate threat is dealt with.

As Sun is retrieved and left to be tended by his own medics – presumably. He would open the letter; contents of the letter are written as such, its contents may perhaps be shocking for the CP agent, eluding to something deeper and darker.

Stig,

Delico of the Monroe family from Ergastulum have brokered a deal for the new weapons to be transferred to you soon, the location of the transaction stays the same, on XX month and XX day. Once the weapons are transferred, ensure you get these weapons ready, we need them soon for Boarsey.

G.”
While the letter is somewhat cryptic, the person named G is definitely an unknown – but the addressee may not be. Something dark is brewing elsewhere in the New World. Without Caribou, the context of the message seems to be unclear, while it may even be unclear if Caribou is the messenger, but given his last sentence implies something he may very well be. How will Sun make use of the information, however cryptic it may be?
