Disgaea

Disgaea is a mysterious place and hosts the second largest population of Tieflings. It is a single underworld, and it is the largest cave system in the world. It rests beneath the ocean, and over 30 different islands can be reached from Disgaea. In other words, Disgea is a cave system on the ocean floor. There are rumors that the ''Devil Tree'', the tree on which all Devil Fruits grow, exists in Disgea, though that might just be a wacky rumor. It is also said that this population of Tieflings was formed after they branched off from the origin - that is, the original home - of all Tieflings.

A dark sky with no sun to be seen, despite the time of day. A large moon in the distance, despite the time of day. Eternal night, deep underground in the Underworld. The world of the Tieflings. In this land, a man with spiky blond hair, wearing a crimson red button-up coat, boots, and gloves, was seen laying on the ground on his back. His limbs stretched outward to their fullest extent, and a snot bubble coming from his nose, the man was sleeping. He was out, completely. The Underworld winds caressed his skin, but it did not wake him. Unlike the noise that came next. A few meters off to the side where the man was sleeping, another man was wide awake. He had black hair and dark blue eyes, and was wearing a black suit and shoes, and a pair of dark blue or almost black shades.

YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME DEMON LORD?! IS THAT IT?!

FINE, THIS PRIEST WILL TAKE YOU UP ON YOUR OFFER AND PURGE YOU FROM THIS WORLD!

The black-haired man yelled. On his back was a strange thing, far from a priestly item. A very large cross-shaped gun/artillery weapon almost as big as he himself was. Reaching for it, he dismounted it from his back and planted one end of it onto the ground in front of himself, showing the weight of the weapon. He pointed the other end of it forward. From it, he suddenly fired a barrage of bullets like from a machine gun.

BEGONE YE EVIL THING!

He yelled. Suddenly he stopped and blinked a couple of times. And then, he fell on his back, falling back asleep, snoring. A strange Underworld mushroom was the source of his hallucinations.

From all the ruckus, the blond-haired man woke up, elevating himself into a sitting position. Squinting his eyes a couple of times and rubbing them with his hands, he corrected his signature red-orange tinted circular-shaped shades, which had been hanging off of his face oddly up until this point. Rubbing the back of his head as he stood up, the blond-haired man grunted.

Agh man...

My head hurts. I feel like I'm hung over.

He said, looking around and seeing his partner sleeping on the ground.

Wolfwood, wake up! Where the hell are we?! I don't even remember how we got here!

The blond-haired man said. Wolfwood woke up, repeating the blond-haired man's actions to a comical degree. He squinted his eyes, rubbed them, and started looking around.

Huh... where am I...

Wolfwood said, seeing his partner.

Vash! What is this place?!

Wolfwood asked, but Vash did not know.

No clue...

And with that, Wolfwood stood up as well, mounting his weapon, The Punisher, back onto his back. As the wind blew, the two men stared into the distance. Disgaea spanned in front of them.

Disgaea Island -The Outlanders

The eternal night held the land of Disgaea captive forcing their inhabitants to adapt over the years. These two drunk outlanders now found themselves in the land of the night, far deep below the ocean floor. Their actual location unknown and only to be speculated for only a few people in this world managed to escape Disgaea alive.

The two would fumble around, still recovering from their nightly or daily escapades, observing the land around them and seemingly at a loss as to how they managed to get here. The land was barren and mostly a wasteland with a large castle only visible by squinting on the other side of the island, the colour of molten hot lava in the far distance emanated towards the night sky. The darkness stealing its light as no light besides the moon seemingly was allowed to radiate proudly. A rock would fall down from a nearby hill, falling from ledge to ledge until it'd finally reach the same ground as them. This noise would most likely forward the two men towards a rather odd rock formation in the distance. From its left eye a presence could be sensed, it was little but radiated a decent power level. Below the eyes, in the mouth, a decent amount of lower-level mobs were present all on high alert.

A hive perhaps?

Inside the weird cave-like structure the two demons with the higher level conversed with one another through whispers.

"Hanako-chan...look...humans. These two look different from the other group a few decades ago. Should I alert Brother and Magnus-san?"
"Pfft..idiot. Look at them they can hardly stand on their legs. I'd say we draw them closer and overwhelm them."
"I...I dunno...I've got a bad feeling about these two...remember how last time went? They almost got us if not for my brother and his friends."
"How do these humans always finds us first. Are we perhaps located in a universal starting point or something?"
"Keep quiet will you! and fineeeee, we'll observe them a bit longer. Perhaps send a few drones towards them to see how they handle them."

The young boy would silently nod and waited for the outlanders to make the next move.

As Vash and Wolfwood stared into the distance, taking in the Kingdom of the Night and the lava ridden castle in the distance, they heard a noise off on the side. Both of them looked toward the direction where the noise was coming from, and they saw a skull-like rock formation tumbling down the slope of a nearby hill. Ledge to ledge it tumbled down until it reached a few dozen meters away from where Vash and Wolfwood were. The two looked at the thing with concerned faces for a few seconds, until Wolfwood half-turned toward Vash without looking at him, covered his mouth with his hand and whispered toward Vash.

Hey Vash, what the hell is that...

Wolfwood said. He expected an answer, and continued to expect one for a few seconds, but no answer came. When he looked over his shoulder to where Vash was supposed to see, he saw that Vash had moved a good few dozen meters away. From a safe distance, with a dumb look on his face and holding a thumbs up position, Vash spoke.

You got this, go check it out.

A drop of sweat rolled down the back of Wolfwood's head. Unbelievable.

Wow, what a Captain...

Fine...

Wolfwood said, turning his attention back to the hive and walking toward it. If he was allowed to approach, he would walk up to the side of the hive and dismount The Punisher off of his back, swinging it. It wasn't a serious attack, but the weight of The Punisher meant to rock the hive and scare out whatever was hiding in there. Comically alert, both Vash, from a safe distance, and Wolfwood, up close and personal, were looking to see if anything would come out.

Elsewhere, a full head of silvery-blue, naturally wavy hair was billowing in the wind. With a dumb look on his face, his right index finger scratching the top of his head in confusion, Gintoki took the area in.

I swear Cap just ups and disappears anytime he wants... Yooo, Bambi! You seen Cap anywhere?!

Gintoki yelled. A few meters away, a Humandrill, Bambina, shrugged.

No clue huh...

Oh well, they'll turn up eventually. I hope they don't do something stupid in this weird place.

Gintoki said, referring to Disgaea. He and Bambina, much like Vash and Wolfwood, had found themselves in the Underworld as well.

Anyway, Bambi! Let's spar a bit!

Gintoki said, unsheathing his katana. He stabbed the katana into the ground, and instead wielded his scabbard. And so, the adventure of the Red Coat Pirates in Disgaea, began.

Abandoned by his captain, Wolfwood found himself staring at the hive. With a swing from his weapon, the man's aim was to rock the nest and trigger whatever it was that slept in it. This worked to some extent as from within the skull-like head, a large number of red dots suddenly flared up. These dots were different from the ones that first appeared though. Both Wolf and Vash could tell that their powers paled in comparison to the ones that first appeared. However, what they lacked in power they made up in sheer numbers.

From the mouth of the skull 100 rather odd-looking creatures would bullrush the man who stood a few meters in front of the cave. These creatures all cloaked and emanating a constant burning-like aura. As if they housed a furnace within their bodies. The sounds they made were
unintelligible and definitely not human or remotely sentient. In any event, the creatures would spread out in the attempt to overwhelm Wolf.

50 creatures would make up the front in lines of 10 all running behind one another like a trained unit. Another group of around 30 drones would split up and move towards Wolf's flank, spreading out in 15 drones on each side. The remaining 20 stayed behind to the entrance of the cave as half of them made a receiving stance much like the sport in volleyball. The other half would jump towards the receiving unit with the latter eventually launching them forward and high up in the air, blocking any upward movement from Wolf.

With their attacking formation now complete, Wolf would find drones on his left, right, front, and up. All coming at him at nearly the same speed in the attempts to overwhelm him with vast amounts of numbers. Those from the flanks and up would flare up their right hands conjuring orbs of burning energy spheres, before throwing them like pitchers on a court. A shower of red burning pellets now rained down upon Wolf with the main force of the army almost upon him.

21-40: 2. Street Level + 2 B rank

Attack strength: 61-80: 4. Small Building Level

"Oh sweet, they're doing the Hellfire already!" - The young boy shouted in excitement.
"Hehe...I'm not holding back like last time!" - The young girl replied with pride in her abilities.

These two fledgling demons were in a rude awakening. For they had not experienced the power of a high-tier Pirate crew.

With nothing but a thumbs up of encouragement from his Captain, Wolfwood walked up to the strange structure that had rolled down from the strange hill in this strange land. What could go wrong? When Wolfwood decided to grab the huge Punisher weapon off of his back and swung the heavy thing, things soon showed how they could quickly go wrong. When The Punisher made contact, the whole structure rocked, and Wolfwood jumped away a couple of times. Red eyes started to pop up from the darkness of the inside of the structure, and both Vash and Wolfwood knew something was coming.

Oh boy...

Vash said as Wolfwood propped The Punisher up in front of him, directing the long end of it toward the red beamy eyes. As the strange creatures started to come out in droves, assuming all sorts of what looked like coordinated positions, Wolfwood opened fire.

Creatures of the devil eh?! Eat lead!

Wolfwood said with a grin on his face and started his attack. From The Punisher, he unleashed a barrage of bullets, like from a machine gun. One by one, he started to take the creatures down, moving The Punisher around to try to get as many as he could, always focusing on the ones that made the most progress toward him. Some of them managed to flank him, while others jumped up into the air. The ones flanking him suddenly started to conjure orbs of what looked like fire and Wolfwood knew they were about to fire those things at him. Pulling onto The Punisher, Wolfwood made a mad dash away from all the creatures and toward Vash.

YO VASH, TAG OUT!

Wolfwood said as Vash dashed for him. The two crossed paths, high-fived and Vash jumped into the fray. With Wolfwood now further away, if the creatures decided to chuck the fire orbs at him, he'd have enough distance to jump around and avoid. The more likely scenario was that the creatures would instead throw the fire orbs at Vash. Vash would take out two of the four guns holstered on his thighs. In a mad firing spree, Vash used great speed and precision to fire as many as 50 shots in a matter of moments, each shot precise in taking down some of the creatures. The few creatures that managed to throw the fire orbs, would manage to hit Vash, but invisible Busou-shoku no Haki protected him. Small burn marks were left on Vash's clothing and skin, but it didn't seem to bother him.

Alright Wolfy, tag out again!

Vash said, pushing off of the ground and backflipping high up into the air. With Vash out of the picture, and all the creatures that had flanked or jumped into the air earlier, disposed of, the remaining two groups were mostly close to one another and together. Wolfwood had The Punisher propped up, and the other end now facing the creatures. From The Punisher, Wolfwood fired 3 missiles. The missiles ripped through the air and descended down on the remaining creatures, blowing them up with flashy explosions.

BANG MOTHERFUCKERS!

Wolfwood said with a grin on his face. Vash landed back on the ground, smiling awkwardly.

Don't you always say ''Thou shall not kill'' Wolfy? What happened?

Vash asked, Wolfwood annoyed by the question.

Holy rules don't apply to these creatures of the Devil.

Wolfwood said, thinking himself wise.

Right right...

Vash's DPR: 120: 7. Town Level + B:+2 = 9. Mountain Level (for the B-rank bullets)
Vash's DPR: 120: 7. Town Level + A:+3 = 10. Island Level (for the A-rank bullets)
Wolfwood's DPR: 81-100: 5. Large Building Level + B:+2 = 120: 7. Town Level (for both attacks)

Bullets used:

20 B-rank bullets
30 A-rank bullets

With perfect teamwork, the two pirates fought against the drones, who were too weak against their superior firepower. Bullets and missiles made short work of these lesser creatures even if they were demonkin. The two children in the cavern were stunned about this display of power and instantly knew their position compared to these men. "We need to leave Hanako...this isn't something we can take head-on."

"I..uh...h..ow?!" Hanako said, stunned by the difference in strength.
"Snap out of it! Let's go or we're doomed!!" - Taro said as he shouted, ironically reversing their roles from the start of this encounter.

The two men if they'd search the cavern with Haki would sense that it was empty besides the two higher energy levels. The time to draw them out was now, however by a moment of luck or coincidence something odd happened. To the left of these men, a very high aura signature would flare up, drawing their attention instantly. If any of them could gauge its strength they could compare it to Vash's power level. Which doesn't appear often in the new world.

Looking to their left if they were interested they'd see in the distance land covered with black scale-like thorns. In the middle of the thorn garden was a rather small brick-looking building. Worn by age but clearly housing something. The garden if visited would eventually position these two men into walking distance towards the main castle, a shoddy-looking bridge connecting the two places that were divided by a large sea of lava. If observed more closely they could tell that the main castle was more or less on a massive island surrounded by this ocean of hot flames. It was their home and land altogether.

Clearly, something was awakened within these lands but whether it was due to this crew's arrival or sheer coincidence remained to be seen. This 'distraction' however, would serve to give the two children enough time to escape. As their presence could be sensed far below the two men and moving towards the direction of the castle. The decision to visit this - what clearly looked like a tomb - was entirely up to these men.

In a different location from Vash and Wolf, Bambina and Gintoki would feel the very same thing if not by mantra but by sheer instinct of this incredible fighting force. They too had the opportunity to visit if they were so inclined to do so. Sadly their part of the island was more of the barren part, no drone nest in sight of them.

The aura/feeling would pass as quickly as it came but its presence would leave quite the impression on this crew most likely. Vash in particular would get a weird calling from this presence as if it beckoned him personally to come towards the garden.

Just what was going on in this land?

With the hundred something creatures swiftly defeated by Vash and Wolfwood, the two focused on the strange structure that seemed to serve as a hive for them. Neither Vash nor Wolfwood were particularly skilled in sensing, as they both focused on the predictive abilities of Kenbun-shoku no Haki. However, they were still able to feel faint presences in a smaller radius, and that included Hanako and Taro. Vash wanted to walk up to them and say hi. However, before he could do so, an incredibly powerful presence suddenly erupted in the land far to Vash's and Wolfwood's left. Even without Kenbun-shoku no Haki, the wrath of the presence could be felt, and it distracted them immediately. Hanako and Taro ran away, while Vash and Wolfwood focused into the distance.

Yo Vash, that presence just now was insane...

Wolfwood said, visibly slightly distraught. Vash wasn't as distraught as Wolfwood, since he himself was as strong as the presence felt, but even Vash knew meeting someone as strong as himself was a rarity, and more often than not led to trouble.

We should check it out, Wolfie. We've travelled all over the world, but don't know this place. For such an under the radar place to have someone this strong is worrisome.

Vash said, slightly more serious than up until now. Wolfwood nodded and the two set off. Before long, they made it to the garden of thorns, traversing it with visible caution.

Elsewhere, Gintoki and Bambina had started their sparring. They were in a standoff, with Gintoki getting ready to strike again. Bending his knees, wielding the wooden scabbard in his right hand, Gintoki pushed off, rushing Bambina. When he was in range, Gintoki stabbed forward with the scabbard. However, twisting his wrist, arm and shoulder, Gintoki added a spin to the scabbard, effectively turning it into a drill

Tiger Drill!

Gintoki said. Bambina, grinning playfully, sidestepped, avoiding the scabbard. At the same time, Bambina struck Gintoki's wrist, sending the scabbard flying out of Gintoki's hand. Bambina backflipped a few times away from Gintoki and landed next to where the scabbard was, picking it up. At the same time, Gintoki jumped a distance back as well, landing next to his sword that he had stabbed into the ground earlier. Bambina sized the scabbard up and looked at it up and down, as if analyzing what it was. Bambina had no clue about swords, or anything that humans used to fight. However, surprisingly, he decided to keep the scabbard. Much like Gintoki earlier, Bambina bent his knees and then pushed off. Once in range, he stabbed forward, executing the exact same technique that Gintoki had executed moments earlier. Putting a spin on the sword, Bambina turned it into a drill and attacked Gintoki. Gintoki's eyes widened in surprise as he yanked the sword out of the ground, placing it in front of himself and using it to block.

Ngh... damn Bambi, that surprised me! How'd you do that?!

Gintoki said, visibly impressed. It was at that moment that both Gintoki and Bambina felt the powerful presence emanating from the other end of the land. They both stopped instantly and looked into the distance. A drop of nervous sweat rolled down the back of Bambina's head. Gintoki gulped.

The hell was that?

Gintoki said, visibly distraught.

Tiger Drill: Gintoki uses a burst of speed to close the distance between himself and the target, and stabs the target. By putting a spin on his arm and sword, Gintoki effectively turns the sword into a drill, increasing its penetrative force. Rank: S

Copied by Bambina.

Both Vash and Wolf made their way towards the desolate garden filled with thorns which one could assume as a natural protection to something. Sadly, the value of protection that it had was lost eons ago. The thorns upon touch seemingly crumbled to dust, the place was forgotten by time or no one dared to venture this far out. Traversing this garden would eventually lead the two men to an equally forgotten tomb. The wicked aura from before definitely came from within, as its aura still lingered.

The entrance to the tomb was a large doorway leading into a long set of downwards stairs, Vash would need some light if he wanted to see where he was walking. So far nothing would find them within this tomb besides that it was comically long and rather barren. Still, the odd feeling of creepiness and familiarity for Wolf and Vash respectively filled the damp air.

The mind filled with wonder of what this place could be the two men would after quite the journey find themselves at the very bottom of the tomb. Fire would lighten the torches on the wall near instantly upon their arrival as if it was autonomous. The thing that most likely catch both of their eyes instantly was a large coffin, wrapped in chains in the middle of this rather wide room. It didn't really look like a resting place but more like a hideout.

The walls were draped with curtains depicting land while several desks with benches were filled around the room. On them, several antiques were laying around, nearly rusted into oblivion. But both Wolf and Vash would make them out to be automatic crossbow rifles. Highly advanced stuff considering that they were over thousands of years old. Gears and springs allowing for it to work. Besides those, there were old air guns and electrical pistols.

To the side of the tomb hung a weird piece of clothing, which looked more like a coat by the looks of it. It too nearly defeated by time, as it was reduced to half its size. And only showed hints of its original colour that it had eons ago. Which was bright red. The coffin now radiated an orange color that came through its cracks. The odd sense of nostalgia and familiarity never left Vash and weirdly enough only grew stronger the more time he spends in this workplace.

Just what was this place?

Off in the far distance within the nearby castle walls. A hurried messenger ran from hallway to hallway, carrying troublesome news.

"THE PROPHECY!"

"THE PROPHECY!"

"THE PROPHECY!"

" OUR TIME IS NIGH!"

The lesser demon shouted in a state of total panic as he ran around the walls. Until he reached the door he was dashing towards. There a demon of the highest order sat in his chair, drinking out of a wine glass appearance masked by shadow. The liquid was red but whether it was actual wine was up for discussion.

"Sir! The chains are glowing...you know what this means your great...great.grandfath..."
"Silence...drone." - the demon said with authority that would push down even the greatest of men.
"The chains have glowed several times in the past...This prophecy means nothing you hear me?! I won't listen to your dribble and whine in my halls. Now unless they're broken or Disgaea has frozen over you may leave my presence before I break you."
"Yes sir!"

The drone said as it was snapped into place and left as quickly as he came.

"Why did you seal that awful man. You should've just murdered the true demon king, great grandfather. Would've made things easier for me." "Now I've got halfwits believing in fairytales. Heh!"

Vash and Wolfwood eventually made their way to the garden of thorns. Wolfwood, ever curious, touched a couple of the thorns, wondering what they were, what their state was, and whether they would hurt him. However, upon touching them, they all turned to dust. Father time was undefeated. They traversed the garden of thorns until they eventually made it all the way to a door that clearly led to a tomb. The energy, the presence, the aura from before, was still emanating, and it was coming from the tomb. Vash opened the door, and darkness was all he could see. Opening the palm of his right hand, Vash summoned what looked like blue flames into his hand. The blue flames illuminated the darkness, and the two descended down an endless amount of stairs.

This place looks like the Devil's lair. I don't like it.

Wolfwood said. As usually, he was talking about God and the Devil. Little did he know, this time, it would turn out not to be metaphorical. They really were, in the land of the Devil. When the two reached the bottom levels of the tomb, they made it into a larger open space. Desks with old things and old firearms were everywhere, and Wolfwood started to inspect the items. As for Vash, the casket on the other end of the room caught his attention. Without saying anything, for Wolfwood was a firearm maniac and would probably not even hear Vash while he was busy tinkering with the firearms, Vash made his way toward the casket. The chains were glowing, and a strong presence was within.

Hmm... is this thing calling for us?

Vash wondered. And then he decided. Lifting his left leg, he transformed the foot into an extremely powerful, fiery blue talon. At the same time, he also transformed his right arm into what looked like a fiery blue wing. The talon grabbed the chain. Black Busou-shoku no Haki clad the talon. With full force, Vash's talon attempted to crush the chain and rip it off of the casket. Behind his signature red-orange tinted circular-shaped shades, his eyes glowed red for a moment.

With a quick and powerful kick, Vash would slice open the chains on this coffin. The chains no match against the cutting power Vash's talons would drop down before revealing the contents within. The 'door' of this coffin could no longer be kept in place and seemingly dropped to the ground as gravity did all the work. The ground trembled as it shook the core of this very island, as dark red energy would rage rampant around the area searching for a way out of this tomb. Both Vash and Wolf would perhaps need to shield their eyes and muster their own will to protect themselves against such an incredible force.

The energy would travel across the entire land, revealing that something had awakened. Something the current Demon Lord feared. The prophecy of the true king that would one day reclaim his land. Those that had betrayed him would face his wrath one day.

The burst of will would settle down and so would the smoke and debris that had been flung into this room. What greeted both Vash and Wolf was a relic and the result of an unsettled prophecy where they were 500 years too late. The latter burst was the only thing that had been contained for all those years, anger and hatred for what his kin had done to him for all those years.

But the old Demon Lord was no longer.

What remained in this tomb was an old and shriveled man. Parts of the coat that were near the tomb were found on this person in the same forgotten state. His skin was dried out and his hair ashen grey while bits of his skin revealed red dark scales of some sort, hinting that he wasn't 100% human. This man, however, was dead and has been for centuries, no living being could live that long neither Human nor Demon could. The only thing on this man of value was a dark black and white ring on his middle finger. The only thing that hadn't lost the battle with time. Perhaps an Heirloom or a key to get out of this place?

Whatever this was, this shocking reveal would place only one question to both these men in their minds.

Why did the demon king of old look so much like Vash?

On the inside of the fallen door that kept this coffin closed. Both men could read the following inscription.

"To my heir, I give this land and my will. Reclaim our destiny. The ring shall guide you."

Vash's powerful talon crushed into the chain, smashing through its sturdiness and ripped it apart. At that moment, an immense aura blasted forth from the coffin, blasting the door of the coffin open. Instinctively, Vash looked away from the coffin and put his hands up in front of his face, while an invisible layer of Busou-shoku no Haki protected his whole body. Wolfwood, too, from the noise of Vash breaking the chain, to the outburst of energy, was put on guard. With great reflex, he dismounted The Punisher off of his back and slammed it into the ground in front of himself, using its large body as a shield. The blast of energy persisted for a number of seconds, causing both Vash and Wolfwood, with The Punisher, to skid back a few inches. But, they stood strong, and eventually, the storm was over. When both of them opened their eyes as the dust and debris settled, they gazed upon an unbelievable sight.

Inside the now opened coffin was a man, lost to time. His skin was shriveled, his hair was aged, and his breath was no more. But, despite the calm nature of what was inside the coffin - in other words it was not something that would attack them - both Vash and Wolfwood still stared at the dead man in disbelief, their eyes widened in shock.

Hey Vash, what is this...

Why does this old guy look so much like y-

I don't know...

Vash interrupted. He knew what Wolfwood was about to say. Wolfwood, leaving The Punisher stand where it was, walked up to Vash, the intense scene having made him forget about all the firearms that he had been tinkering with. Both men's eyes inspected every inch of the coffin, and in a matter of seconds, they noticed the scripture on the inside of the coffin's door.

"To my heir, I give this land and my will. Reclaim our destiny. The ring shall guide you."

The scripture read. An heir? Destiny? A ring? All of this was far too unbelievable, and the unbelievable nature of what was in front of them, made the two men cope by not thinking any further. Sometimes, going with the flow is just better. Vash saw the ring on the dead man's finger and took it softly, hoping not to disfigure the corpse. If Vash was successful, he put the ring onto his right ring finger and then proceeded to close the coffin.

I don't know what's happening here, but it seems like this place is more peculiar than we originally thought. Let's go Wolfie, we'll come back to this place later. I want to find out what's going on.

Vash said, and the two men, if allowed, would leave the tomb - Wolfwood naturally mounting The Punisher back onto his back. Once back outside, Vash had an idea. It was time to get a bird's eye view of this whole land, and see what it had to offer. Blue flames suddenly erupted from Vash, and both of his arms transformed into wings of blue flames. Vash flapped the wings and rocketed high up into the air. Once there, he looked around. He needed a clue.

Elsewhere, Gintoki and Bambina had stopped fighting when the presence first alerted them. They had looked into the distance, trying to see what was going on - but to no avail. Luckily, when Vash and Wolfwood came back out of the tomb, and Vash flew high up into the air, Bambina was able to see Vash due to Vash's colorful wings of fire. Bambina pointed into the distance, showing Vash to Gintoki.

Th-that's Vash! Why is he transformed?

Gintoki said, putting two and two together. A strong presence, and now, their Captain had transformed. Was he fighting? Was he being attacked? Regardless, their next choice was obvious. They had to go and back Vash up.

Let's go, Bambi.

Gintoki said, and Bambina nodded. And so, the two took off, making their way toward Vash and Wolfwood.

With the ring equipped Vash together with Wolf took to the sky to search for answers. Luckily for him, the ring he had just picked up would give him nearly all the answers he could wish for. From it a thin beam of light would cast forward, pointing towards the front door of the castle they saw upon entering this place. With Wolf right beside him and the rest of his crew following closely behind the Red Coat Pirates were reunited once again.

Within the castle itself, it was pure chaos. A 1000-year-old prophecy had just been fulfilled. The Haoshoku no Haki blast had knocked every servant unconscious and even a few higher-ranked officers within the castle. The thin line of energy now also shone inside of the ballroom towards a certain statue, the succession game had finally begun. There at the far end of the room where the energy reached 5 shadow cloaked individuals stood ready, awaiting their opponents. With the lord of darkness sitting in the middle on his throne seat, fingers digging deep into the wood of his armrest.

"How utterly ridiculous...This is preposterous. How is that old goat still alive? He must be over 1000 years old. No human lives that long!"
"Calm down Papa...we won once so we'll do it again." A younger female voice said with a rather posh accent.

"You're right Rozalin dear...we'll see how the games will go. If he's alone, the easier it'll be for us."

Flapping his wings of blue fire, Vash rocketed high up into the air. Once there, taking in the view of a large expanse of Disgaea, Vash looked around. The ring suddenly activated, shooting a beam of light toward the large castle in the distance.

That makes it pretty clear I'd say...

Vash said with a smile on his face. A large castle was spotted, and on top of that, it seemed like the ring was telling him that was where he had to go too. Vash landed back down on the ground next to Wolfwood.

Alright Wolfy, we got our place.

And with that, the two set off. At some point during their walk, Gintoki and Bambina caught up as well.

Oiii Cap, finally found ya!

Where the hell did you go?!

Gintoki said, yelling from a distance behind Vash and Wolfwood, attracting their attention. Vash and Wolfwood stopped and turned around, seeing their fellow crew members. Vash rubbed the back of his head comically and spoke.

Ahhh, guess there's more of us here! Huahahaha!

Vash said, referring to the fact that he and Wolfwood couldn't remember how they got here. Turns out they weren't alone.

What are you talking about Cap? Of course we're here, we came here together remember? You said you had a dream that you have to jump into the ocean and you went and jumped. And then we jumped after you, cause you're a Devil Fruit user and you'd drown.

I swear what kind of an idi-

Oh, is that what I did? No wonder I can't remember anything. Huahahaha!

Vash said, still rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.

I don't think that's how you lost your memory. Because I lost mine as well, and I never drowned. In fact I jumped in after you together with Gin and Bambi.

Wolfwood said, the duo wondering how it was that they had lost their memories then. It was a mushroom from Disgaea that did it, but whether they would ever remember that, was anyone's guess. Regardless, with the crew banter done with, the four made their way to the castle. Once there, they pushed the front gate open and then traversed the castle, seeing a number of individuals knocked down to the floor. The ring's light eventually led them to a much bigger room, where four shadowy figures awaited. With Vash leading the front, Wolfwood and Gintoki behind him to the left and right, and Bambina further back to the right, the four stopped and Wolfwood spoke.

Demons! Devils! They are the only types to lurk shadows!

Wolfwood announced to the silhouettes. It was more of his religious gibberish, though in this case he was just about spot on. Would the Demonkind take kindly to his words?

"Well aren't you a rude man, entering our home uninvited. I can't wait to deal with you personally." The young girl known as Rozalin would say towards Wolf as the light finally revealed her.
"Calm down my dear Rozalin, one of them has the relic. Which unfortunately makes him distant family." Another one came to light this time the Demon lord himself Maderas.

Rozalin was seated on the opposite armrest from Maderas' throne. Behind the throne seat and to its side 3 other individuals were now finally revealed. In order of appearance, these were Valvatorez, Etna and finally Mao. Each one of these individuals was strong even though some of them didn't really look all that threatening. But soon the red coats would understand the meaning behind that old and often true saying.

Maderas would cough before he started in conversation. "Well, ringbearer state your intentions with Disgaea. That relic you hold gives you the right to challenge my rule over this island. If you win, you may claim this land as your own." Maderas said as he leered at Vash with annoyance, rightly so for this stranger was supposedly about to take away his home. "If you do not believe me, do try taking off that ring and giving it to one of your comrades." The Lord added and should Vash comply one of his crewmates would notice that the ring would have an ill effect on their body. Their haki - whether it was armaments or mantra - would be severely weakened and constantly drained so much so that it'd eventually force them to their knees. Once the ring was back to its rightful owner would this effect fade rather quickly. Vash, fortunately, had no such debuffs and would find it strangely fulfilling as if this had always been with him.

"As ringbearer, you're entitled to participate in the Kings games, which was an old tradition to choose the next Lord of Darkness. But choosing for a more stable line of succession our family got rid of it. Sadly, the rules themselves are still in play for even a king cannot change the divine rules. "
"Father, you're giving these barbarians way too much information." Etna would say with a high voice once again looking at the red coats with disdain.
"My apologies Etna dear, but I'm obligated to tell them this much." Maderas would reply before returning his gaze upon Vash and his crew.

"So what do you say Ringbearer? If you accept you'll face the full force of my family. Which has won once against yours centuries ago." Maderas said as he now stood up a face full of glee clearly visible.

Wolfwood, seeing silhouettes lurking in the shadows, called them out, stating they must be Demonkind. Whether they were, or not, was anyone's guess, but that was what Wolfwood was convinced of. The silhouettes stepped out of the shadows, showing themselves. There were 5 individuals in total, all dressed in rather demonic, vampiric, blood royal looking outfits. One sat on a throne, presumably the leader of them all, sipping on wine. The other four were likely his subordinates, or family. The woman replied to Wolfwood, saying that she couldn't wait to deal with him personally. The one sitting on the throne stopped her, referring to her as Rozalin, and then went on to explain the situation. He spoke about Disgaea, the family, the ring, the ringbearer, the Kings Games, and even said that Vash, as the wearer of the ring, was distant family, and destined to have the ring. Vash listened with a rather dumbfounded look on his face. When he was told to try and take off the ring, he scratched the back of his head in confusion, but complied.

Yo, Wolfie, you wanna try this thing on? I think it'd look cute on you.

Preposterous! A holy man like me would never don a devil's jewelry.

Wolfwood answered in character. A drop of sweat comically ran down the back of Vash's head.

Yo, Wolfie, didn't you hear what this guy just said? Are you saying I'm a devil then?

Vash said half jokingly and half confused, finding the whole situation kinda absurd. Vash was then put up in front of a decision. Would he challenge for the throne and for Disgaea? That question seemed like a reasonable one to the Demonkind family, as this appeared to all be common stuff to them. But obviously, to Vash, it made no sense. What was this dude on about? We're family? I'm a heir to Disgaea? The fuck is Disgaea? As such, a reasonable question followed.

Uhm... that's a nice story and all, but what are you on about? I'm not a Demon. My pop was a Skypiean and my mom was a human. I'm not even sure what this place is about or how I got here. Can't remember anything. Then that corpse called me with a wave of Hao-shoku no Haki. It looked like me, but it definitely wasn't pop. I think you got the wrong guy.

"Pointing out the obvious right there birdbrain" - the young boy known as Mao said nearly snapping at Vash.
"Enough! Quiet children!" The Darklord shouted for all to hear but only his offspring would feel the full force of his bloodlust. The Red coat pirates would only catch the sparks of it. This man wasn't just for show.
"Uhum.." Maderas coughed as he returned his gaze towards Vash.
"It's only natural that the man you found isn't your father. The man you found back there in the coffin is a very distant relative of yours. He's the old Lord of Disgaea who lost to our family 300 years ago. Give or take, one tends to forget when you live as long as we do. After we managed to beat him he left only to return years later to that shack where you found him. During that time our family dispatched whatever was left of his allies and made us the Maderas family the true heirs to Disgaea. What this relative of yours did during his time away, however, I can only guess. But I have a faint feeling it's so one day one of his heirs would make their way down." Maderas said giving his own opinion on the current situation.
"Father, I've grown tired of these questions. It'd seem the fool doesn't understand the value that is around him. " Rozalin chimed in clearly not affected by her father's burst of power earlier. Maderas didn't reply to her but only dismissed her with a wave of his hand.

"My daughter is right. I've answered enough of your questions. I shall grant you, pirates, two choices." The man said as he clapped his hands, illuminating several routes in the building. One was towards the door they arrived at which was now their exit. A plaque above it marking it as such. Besides the elevated throne upon where Maderas and his family stood a door to their left and right suddenly appeared out of the shadows. It looked as if it had been there the entire time but light only just now revealed it. The door to the left would have a plaque saying "Martial arts room" and the door to the right would have one saying " Firing range".

"The time has come for you lot to make a decision. Leave Disagea through the door behind you, a guide shall make sure you return to the mainland safe and sound. However, if you wish to enter the king's game you'll need to follow its rules." Maderas said as his daughter took over.

"5 games in total. Every room has to have at least one player. So you'll have to divide yourselves amongst these rooms. Once you've cleared or won the goals within these rooms you'll continue onwards to the next one. However, your groups need to shuffle after the first round. So if Red Coat over there goes in by himself in one room. The next one he has to join with a buddy. The same goes for groups. If Mr. Holy joins with your pet, they'll have to split up in the next round." Rozalin said, refering to Gambina and Wofie.

"Oh and don't forget. Game one up until Game four all reward one point. Game 5 rewards 4 points. The first group that gains or exceeds 5 points is declared the winner." Maderas added.

Suddenly the throne room or at least the pedestal they sat/stood upon would catch fire, engulfing the family in an incredible blaze.

"The choice is yours Red Coat Pirates. We the Maderas family shall await your challenge." Maderas said leaving the Red Coat Pirates with a few parting words. The round of questions was over.

Vash questioned the legitimacy of the Demons' explanations, but soon, it all made sense. The man that he had found in the coffin wasn't his father, but rather a very distant relative from generations ago. Vash sighed and rubbed the back of his head, somewhat annoyed by the situation.

Sigh... guess I can't deny that. Makes sense.

Vash said, as if discouraged by the fact that he could not fight Maderas' logic. The man in the coffin was a spitting image of Vash, after all, and there looked to be no tricks involved. Maderas then went on to explain how the challenge worked. Two rooms, one for gunslinging and one for martial arts. They would have to split and take on the challenges in both of those rooms, and clear them. Vash was about to throw Maderas and his family for a loop by saying he would just ignore the rules and fight them then and there, but when all of them burst into flames, it quickly became evident that was no longer an option.

These guys are really messing with us huh...

Fine then, Wolfie, Gin, Bambi, let's do this. It looks like there's more to this place than we thought. Wolfie and I will go do the firing range room, Gin and Bambi go to the martial arts room.

Vash said, getting the group into a huddle. All four stretched their arms out toward the center for a 4-way fistbump.

Kick their asses.

Vash said as the rest of them nodded. And with that out of the way, Vash and Wolfwood went into the firing range room, while Gintoki and Bambina went into the martial arts room.

Martial arts room

Both Gintoki and Bambina would enter a large spacious training room akin to an eastern Dojo. The Dojo spacious enough to fit a sizable army and high enough to easily fit a giant inside of it. How this room was connected to such a large castle remained an odd mystery. In the middle of the room sat the eldest of Maderas' children, Rozalin. Having changed her rather formal attire from earlier into something a bit more battle oriented. "Shame that the other one isn't here, but I'll have to do with you lot." She said as he stood up and turned around observing both Gintoki and Bambina. "The rules of this room are simple; score 5 clean hits against me and you pass the rules of this room. However, if I manage to clean hit both of you guys 5 times I win." She said as she took on a basic karate stance while her hands ignited with fire. "You can use any weapon or any martial art at your disposal." She added while awaiting the first move of these intruders.

Firing range

Vash and Wolf would also find themself in a rather spacious room but instead of open it was filled with numerous wooden poles that towered over them. Each pole standing around fifteen to twenty-five feet but was wide enough to stand atop of them with both their feet if they could keep their balance. On the other side of the room, Mao and Etna could be seen already standing on top of one of these poles in front of a square-shaped board. " Welcome to the firing range. The rules here is to score a goal by throwing or kicking one of these orbs inside these square-shaped board on each opposite end of the room. Like this." Mao said as he'd throw the ball up in the air and followed it with a leap before kicking the orb towards the board. The ball would fly through the board, making the inner circle spin around as a loud ding echoes the room. " You also have to stand on one of these poles. The first team to score 5 goals is declared the winner." Mao continued to explain with the same disinterest he had shown since the beginning.

The poles inside this room were laid out 6 wide and 10 long with one pole slightly higher in the middle of the back row which effectively turned it into the goal they had to score towards. Something Vash and Wolf would notice if they caught on was that if one person stood behind the board it effectively prevented one from score easily. These games were a strange thing and all contestants couldn't help but wonder if this was really necessary to point towards a new successor. Or perhaps Maderas had bamboozled Vash in some kind of way. There was no real way to tell.

In any event, Rozalin would await the actions of her opponents while Mao and Etna would wait for both Vash and Wolf to enter the field to start theirs.

The Davy Back fight...Kings games could begin.

The Red Coat Pirates, four strong, entered their respective arenas in pairs as they were told to do by Maderas. Whether it was the right thing to do, to play along with these Demons, was anyone's guess, but for now, they would do it. Gintoki and Bambina found themselves in a Dojo-esque setting, and their end seemed pretty straight-forward. They had to land five blows on Rozalin, the Demon that they were up against.

Hmm... is that how it is...

Well, that's a good sign, at least. Strength or any of that won't matter. She didn't say the hits have to deal a lot of damage. Hey Bambi... let's focus on speed and dishing out as many attacks as possible.

We tap her five times, we win.

Gintoki said. Bambina nodded and elevated his left arm, opening the palm of his left hand facing toward Gintoki. Gintoki saw this and nodded in return, unsheathing his katana and throwing the scabbard to Bambina. Bambina caught the scabbard, and both wielded their respective weapons in a two-handed grip.

Gintoki bent his knees and whispered.

Flash Point...

And with that, he disappeared from sight. Using great speed, he blitzed past Rozalin, aiming to slash her. Gintoki would appear a few meters behind Rozalin, turning around to see the effectiveness of his fast attack. Bambi, on the other hand, hadn't moved. Instead, it looked like his eyes had been glued on Gintoki the whole time, observing for some reason.

In the meantime, Vash and Wolfwood had entered the other arena. Tall poles filled the large room, and Etna and Mao were seen standing atop their respective poles. Both Vash and Wolfwood jumped up and landed on their respective poles as well. They heard Mao explain what this was all about, and then demonstrated it. Vash, picking his right ear with his pinky finger, spoke.

Not much of a firing range huh... Guess they tricked us.

Vash said, Wolfwood sighing.

Oh well... Bring it on!

Vash said, grinning. He had a really good trick up his sleeve.
