General How many languages do you speak?

I can count to 10 in like 4 languages (ASL, French, English, Japanese)
And I know ABCs in 3 languages! (ASL, English, French).
I know some Hawaiian (not conversational though)
And I learned French, but I don't consider myself fluent.

Is it true that Croatian Bsonian and Serbian are like basically just the same language but slightly different dialects and that the governments invest into making the languages more and more different? By advicing to use different words etc?
In my study they offered bosnian croatian and serbian as one language

You can talk and understand each other on general level but sooner or later you will find words and phrases you dont understand.

Outside of slavic influence

Croatian has heavy italian , german and hungarian influence with bits of turkish.
Bosnian is hard on german and turkish
Serbian is mostly its own with turkish influence.

Also yes all nations are trying to implement new words but no one gives a shit about it.

It's official name is Ewe and that is specific to southern Togo, particularly the city Lomé. In other parts, the native language is different. For example, in northern Togo, they speak Kabye, not Ewe. Though, a lot of ppl from other regions learn Ewe as it's an official language in the country.

My native language is Filipino so I speak it fluently. I also speak English as it's one of the official languages here.

I know a bit of Spanish because it's required to study the beginner and intermediate courses in uni, but I don't speak it anymore. Lastly, I speak really basic Japanese (N5) :D

Wow, very interesting to hear this.
It’s actually kinda like Iraq, the officials language of the country is Arabic but northern Iraq (aka Kurdistan, you probably heard of it) mainly speak only Kurdish, especially the young ppl there. The older ppl speak both languages since they used to serve for the Iraqi army for some time.

Yeah :) oh but only our uni requires Spanish language courses because it has Spanish roots, way back 1600s when Spain colonized our country. Other universities don't have it. It's nice though, coz it's fun to learn new languages :) Where/how did you learn French??

as well as I failed learning Latin for 5 years and I only remember very simple basics :ghostie:

I really want to learn languages though but I failed a lot of times already xD

I took French for 5 years, 2 of which were college level and I still can't converse in French ? I just can't pick up languages
