Chapter Discussion One Piece - Chapter 974: Onward to Onigashima

great chapter, now Oda has to explain alot

finally the traitor plotline is resolved and we can move on to new plotlines, the next big question is what is Laws and Drakes relationship?
If Oda ever does another Law flashback, then we might get the story of him and Koby at Rocky Port and we finally learn more about Law's true intentions.
I bet he teamed up earlier with X Drake (Sword) in order to infiltrate Wano and this could only happen if Drake fed Law with intel about a certain spectrum of time where events will go down.
It is possible that back in Rocky Port Law met Drake and Drake fed Law intel about Kaido and they made some kind of masterplan.

Law got himself cought so in order to meet Drake and talk about the plans.
Drake fed Law intel about an attack on the port and this caused Law to get to Luffy in the last moment.
Since Kaido had the intel about there being a boat to come to Onigashima, Law should have the same information.

So I believe that Drake will wait on Onigashima to pick up Luffy Law and Kid and from there on we will get fights and more reveals.
Also Hawkins will turn over seeing how the Worst Generation will ally up.

Otherwise I can't explain anything else.

Let's leave the Wano chaos behind, the Supernovas time to shine now!

Ergo Drakewill initiate the plan to ally the Supernovas, and Drake will be the one to betray them post Wano, as he might want to capture someone.

lol. that panel of kinemon slicing his face off with like no hesitation was brutal. I'm not sad that my theory was wrong lol. If it wasn't going to be Kin, I'm glad it was Kanjuro and not anyone else. Raizo would of been 'meh', Kiku wouldn't have made sense and it would have broken my heart and I probably would have had to stay off of any One Piece fan discussion for a month just to avoid reading all the transphobic vitriol YOU KNOW would be popping of lol.

I'm excited to see where Oda takes Kanjuro's character after this--because he is a blank slate in a lot of ways now. Everything that was quirky and cute and specific about him is now recontextualized as strategy for betrayal and mockery. Plus I loved Kanjuro's drawing style before. As an artist, I actually hate the whole 'oh he was pretending not to know how to draw' thing--his old style was way better than now, now his shit just looks like Oda drew it. So now he is a traitor and a copycat.

I loved that Kanjuro was an overly dramatic aloof weirdo constantly fucking up but also showing up for his friends when it mattered.
But now all that stuff is just him being a theater actor and trying to sabotage and tricking his friends into thinking he was showing up for them (getting captured so they could escape etc etc).

So that's why I am sad lol. But I'm stoked to see where it goes now!

Really liked this chapter. The reveal of Kanjuro being the traitor was kind of quick and all bit still very good. I am happy the flashback ended though I definitely enjoyed in its whole. But finally we come back to our familiar faces and the Strawhats.

The following chapters will finally move towards the fight and I really want to know how Kidd came to get there and all since we previously said he didn't want to join alliances anymore due to betrayal.

He said that there are tons of Characters he can't wait to Draw in Wano Arc. He then said that Characters in One Piece mostly fight on Land, so he wants to draw Naval Fights more to remind us that we are watching Pirates!

This is clearly what we saw in Today's Chapter, and Luffy's Statement at the end enforces that

I mean its quite onbvious that X Drake fed Law with informations like there is a traitor and they basically countered the counter attack so X Drake appearence now would make sense. Hawkins just a little bonus.
(But I doubt Law knew about X Drake being member of SWORD)

Sure. Drake knows Navy won't help, because they have to deal with Shichibukai. X Drake freed Law and I expect he also have Law the infos about the traitor and that Kaidous knows everything. This way counterattack was possible. Drake being in ship "leading" the Operation taking down the boat with the scabbards not only creates awesome Hype, but also gives Strawhats a huge advantage. They can use these Shops to Sneak to Onigashima and open the path for the Samurai fleet.

lets be honest, two yonko alliance will have a big contra, too much power they can't handle themselves, it will be easy to clear out non-yonko characters

Guys you don't understand, they aren't going for War
What i'm trying to say is that they are going to "Kill Kaido", Numbers don't matter, they aren't trying to kill every single Beast Pirate
The only thing that matters is Kaido & Orochi Defeated & Unable to give Orders anymore
The Army's Purpose is to simply Distract the opposing Army & face them for a Short time until Kaido is defeated by anyone

So there are three things we need to discuss right now regarding upcoming Chapters:

1. How will Alliance make their Entrance? Will they be Spotted or they will have the Advantage of Surprise?
2. How each Character will Shine & have their Moment during the War?
3. What Plot Twists & Surprise Appearances we have to expect?
