Swamp Kingdom - Post 10
@Einsauer

Shiki and Musashi walk in the dusky night along the river, their footprints would trail behind all the way from the building onwards but as they came they would vanish when the water levels of the river would go up during the night. Showing their journey so far at the very least, yet they knew of the true dangers of what the Swamp Kingdom brought them.

The duo would keep a sharp eye and ear out always observing heavily cautious even from every step they would take highly alert of any situation and on edge. Neither one wanted from what just happened to Musashi to happen to either, growing ever tight in the moment, until the sound of trembles would echo the sound.
Musashi: " What was that? "
Shiki: " I have no idea, but do we find out where it's coming from? "
Musashi: " I have a bad feeling, but lets at least keep a sharp eye then find Lucifer and get outta here. "

Shiki hearing this nodded as the duo turned around to find the reason why the sound was trembling outwards.

With talks commencing between the Lunarian who was under the banner of the World Government of the Marine branch was with the Reptilla's from the Swamp Kingdom. Informing the Reptilla who could respond back in the english tongue, Lucifer would have a good spark in terms of negotiations.

"Negotiations?" He asked. "...You are right, stranger...These words would be better shared with the Elders..."
Hearing the Reptila speak in a slytherin-like manner with his fork tongue with every word that came out of his mouth, showing the Reptilla a high amount of respect before taking a moment before responding.

" Thank you, could you please kindly show me the way to the Elders? "

"I warn that your friends currently trek dangerous lands, our eastern fishing camp was demolished by an enormous lizard." He said with strange emphasis on the word lizard, as if he there was discomfort or confusion in saying the translation for that word.

"It managed to claim one of our own. All else were forced to abandon that land." Shasuryu looked to his comrade and ordered him to keep watch over the visitor and then looked to Lucifer.

"It would be best for me to lead the retrieval party. Zaryusu will take you to our elders. They know your words better." Then with a final word to Zaryusu in the lizard-tongue, he took off towards a guard-post similar to the one they were at, further to the east.
Shasuryu led the small group of Reptilia away from there and into the trees to the east, hopefully he wouldn't be too late...
The Reptilla continued of the possibilities that would be met by my underlings alerting me, having me think of a possibility of what could occur to Musashi and Shiki.

" I trust my underlings are strong enough, though as you say this is a formidable one that might be encountering. Thank you for your hospitality on this, could I request someone go who can speak in the language we are speaking in? "

Then the one who with his hand on his weapon would motion his weapon to follow me, taking that as a hint to follow him. I'll proceed to follow behind as we crossed the many bushes, trees,s and swampy terrain until the sound of children speaking in their native language with giggles and chattering could be heard. It was the first time they would be encountering someone who was not of their own.

The entire thing was running smoothly, now what came next was the most political moment with negotiations to commence very soon.

...until the sound of trembles would echo the sound.
The two marines turned to the source of the tremble, trepidatiously the duo moved back in the direction of the small camp they had found. They followed the prints that were left previously by them, Shiki and Musashi moved along the river, avoiding getting too close to the bank of the flowing water. Familiar sounds were dwindling away as they grew nearer and nearer to the source of the tremors the marines had felt; the swamp grew still as the buildings from before came into the eyeline of the marine duo.
A large, shadow-soaked figure moved around the camp in small leaps, examining the insides of the buildings. This creature was likely not the source of the quake they had felt, it was too small. The two of them began moving closer, ready to carefully investigate.

Moving closer, the two were able to determine, via the low-light sources dimly illuminating the beast, that the figure was another Frogodile (a big one, too): the same type of beast that had inflicted its venom unto the lady-lieutenant. Musashi and Shiki watched the creature, from a safe distance, as it sniffed around for food. The swamp beast pushed into the open doorframe of a hut and remerged shortly after, unable to find sustenance. It continue sniffing, it must have been picking up a smell in the air (possibly the human scent). As deliberations began to transpire in the minds of the World Government soldiers, the shadow-soaked figure of the Frogodile lifted into the air rapidly.
At first it looked like it was jumping onto the roof of a larger, central hut, but then it began frantically flailing around in the air. The beast released a panicked croak-roar before seeming to disappear entirely.

The duo considered what had just happened, the eerie imagery still fresh in their minds...As they looked suspiciously at the point of disappearance a large gush of dark liquid poured from the same point in the air that the reptile had vanished...
...

The Lunarian followed the reptilian escort, moving deeper and deeper into the central village of the Swamp Kingdom. Lucifer would notice occasional glances from the lizardman that ranged from seeming distrustful to seeming outright spiteful. It was apparent to the vice-admiral that this member of the Reptilia race was particularly distrusting of outsiders.
It was a decently long walk with a lot to take in, yet not much to say that the reptilian's ears would understand. A noticeable tension was rising, Zaryusu was untrusting of the Lunarian, but he intended to remain on task and avoid causing a problem in his village. The slightly-muddy footpath that they followed was beginning to solidify; the footpaths felt like true walkways now; albeit still only dirt. The buildings they passed were simple (only tents and teepees); they were likely only made for sleeping and privacy. Due to the sheer amount of Reptilia faces, it seemed possible to Lucifer Morningstar that these reptilian-folk of the Swamp Kingdom spent most of their time amongst their community. Soon, they found themselves at a large building; it had a solid and boxy foundation made of wood, but also teepee-like protrusions made of lizard leather.
Thin lines of smoke billowed from a set of clay chimneys atop the large building (relative to the other buildings).

This was the place. The two of them waited for some time, but then the lizard moved for the entrance and began to part the strips of snake-leather hanging in the entranceway.
"There is an outsider. He brings 'negotiations'." He said, clearly not fully believing or understand the situation. In response a small committee of elderly lizardmen looked up to meet the guardian.
They murmured amongst each other in their serpentine language before one of them responded. "Allow them to enter." He responded; to which Zaryusu promptly obeyed. The lizardman repeated the unfamiliar hand-sign from before to Lucifer; meaning: "follow me".

The interior of the building was spacious, with a long table with very short legs stretched before him. Sat on small pillows, or the ground itself, were a council of elderly lizardmen, two women present at the table; one of them being far younger than the others.
They looked at Lucifer expectantly and allowed him to introduce himself.

Shiki and Musashi would turn around making their way back to where they came from, the closer they got back to the building they came from the louder the sounds became, and the very air was thicker with tension. There was so much tension that the sounds of insects buzzing away were discarded in the back but right now the sound of leaves swishing and the sound of a twig snapping under a foot would alert the two marines. A creature came out revealing not the culprit of the earlier sounds that beamed to alert the duo, but more important this was a creature seeking a safe haven away from whatever was making the noises. Either one of the two marines could've used their kenbunshoku haki of awareness kind, but as they were on edge neither was in a calm demeanor to use the haki. It was for a brief moment as the duo calmed down, and reaffirmed their resolve bringing their focus back on track but remained very cautious as they walked through the forest to spot a larger Forgodile. Musashi's eyes widened thinking back to the pain that came from a smaller version of that creature but she shook her head hesitant to make any movement closer to scout the creature as she wanted out, Shiki spotted this and used his hand to signal a move to retreat.

Then it happened with the creature sniffing the air and then sprung upwards then vanishing, a shiver ran down their spines, Shiki clenched a fist to state to not move as it didn't want the creature to begin to chase them. Now they were stuck in a tight situation, either they fled'd to begin a chase and have them become hunted, or they both understood no matter what they had to keep still to not catch its attention.

Dark liquid would fall down like rain sprinkling down the canopies from above, seeing the color of crimson they both knew they wasn't dealing with anything but highly dangerous.

Along my journey taking note of the glances coming from a certain Reptilla, who held his sword not once putting it down for which was not once unnoticed from the very moment I met eye to eye and face to face. The light of the moon would illuminate the terrain below from swampy with a crunch with every step to something more harder like it was concrete a more natural way but it was a mixture of dirt that solidified like a walk path. With a sight of large wooden gates with corner tips that went into the ground and right above, entering into the Tribe's home and the sights of tent-like building.

Many of the inhabitants I saw chattering, and giggling would halt and peer their gazes at me as this was the first time they were seeing someone who wasn't one of them in many of their lifetimes. Still following behind the Reptilla who stated they'd take me to the Elders until a tent-like building with a self-made chimney and a snake leather entrance.
I stayed mute as the talks were ready to commence, with the Reptilla moving the snake leather entrance out of the way for me to enter to notice a spacious interior, a long table with small stubby legs and pillows as seats, and two elderly Reptilla. One of the two looked younger and more feminine than the other and the other who wore tan-like clothing with brown-like decorations.

" I thank you for this short notice, though I'd like to know if you are able to understand my tongue we can then begin these talks "

Before any talks were to be held, I needed to know they understood my tongue as the language barrier could be a hindrance for these negotiations.

Suspense suddenly strangled the humid, nighttime atmosphere surrounding the marines as the dark ichor rained down from the mysterious point in the air. Even from their distance, the two lieutenants could make out the sound of the cold, thick, crimson liquid spilling over onto the rooftop and ground below. A smear of blood seemed to levitate in the air, visible to only careful eyes, before it was wiped away by an invisible source. The lieutenants sat in state of unease for a short time, Shiki silently ordering his comrade to remain still in order to avoid being spotted by whatever was in the abandoned fishing camp looming before him...
There was no certainty if it could sense them...Or if it was even still on the shoddy rooftop, perhaps through using their talents in awareness haki they would be able to discern where this ominous thing was, but they would need to calm themselves first.

Suddenly, giving mixed feelings of relief and heightened-terror to the two; a huge, bloody, five-clawed print lifted into the air off of the puddle on the roof. Suspicions were confirmed, this beast is invisible... Whatever it is. The bottom of this monster's hand was painted red, possibly giving Shiki and Musashi a visible indicator of the invisible monster (if only temporarily). The two watched from their hiding spot in silence as the invisible creature moved along the rooftop, they saw a cloud of dirt and dust rise from the ground below (as well as hearing an accompanying thud).

The unseen monster was on the move...!

...

Shasuryu moved in the lead of a small troop of three other reptilian men; Shasuryu and two others rushed full-speed along the ground to come to aid of Lucifer's allies. A fourth lizardman in their brigade moved through the sturdy tree branches, dashing from tree to tree in the same route as his comrades. Shasuryu knew he would have to lead the way, as only he spoke the language of the outsiders; truthfully the lizardman was primarily focused on making it to help in time, most other thoughts left his mind. He fought back his hurry for a brief instance and fell back a bit to give his colleagues intel.
"Should the outsiders have been lucky, we should be arriving upon them soon. Do not draw your weapons, do not act rashly. Allow me to speak to them." He requested.
"...And should they not be so lucky..." He trailed off and hastened himself, once more taking a commanding lead over the others.

He had personally never encountered the monster they called Bohen (or Not-Seen), but he had heard gore-filled horror stories throughout his life regarding the terrible invisible predator. For a few years, there was no incident with the beast... At times Shasuryu even thought it to be a myth amongst the lizardfolk... But with the recent attack of their camp, dread was blossoming in his mind. His scaled, reptilian toes moved through thick mud as easy as flat ground; truly he was in-tune with the Swamp Kingdom.

The two Reptilia moving along the ground behind him looked to one another. "We're not fighting the Bohen, are we?"
"I know I'm not." Responded the other.
"That thing is a myth." Responded the third in the trees, keeping pace with them while remaining unseen. "A scary story for hatchlings."

Fear was running through both the Luitenants, from their observation nothing seemed normal but it was having both shrivel in fear with their bodies becoming heated if the monster could pick on body heat sensoring they would be doomed. From the crimson rain showering above, with some appearing like slime brought further tension of unease. The sound of gulping from the two could be heard with the buzzing of the insects echoing in the atmosphere, feeling like it was coming from a horror movie but what really would horrify both the leaves would be moved out the way like something transparent moved them.

Musashi and Shiki thinking in unison: ' Is this for real? ... Is that monster also invisibbble? ... '

Musashi would look at Shiki with her body beginning to tremble moved her finger to her lips as if trying to tell Shiki something.

From the rooftops the creature would raise his hand with a stream of crimson appearing giving the location of the creature to the duo who would gaze, pausing at their actions until the creature would lift off.

The waiting game had begun, only time would tell them if they could survive and live to tell the tale, but should anything occur to them the island of Swamp Island would know true hell should Lucifer ever find out of the events happening now.

The waiting game had begun, only time would tell them if they could survive and live to tell the tale, but should anything occur to them the island of Swamp Island would know true hell should Lucifer ever find out of the events happening now.
Shiki and Musashi hunkered down into the swampy brush, quietly shooing away the insects that buzzed around them. The muggy air captured the heat around them, sweat began to bead up on their foreheads as they cautiously attempted to observe the unobservable. The light rumbling of the monster's heavy footsteps seemed to be growing nearer, eventually the two lieutenants could make out a smudge moving through the air...

The bottom of the Bohen's foot was still slightly visible, able to be caught in one's eye from a decent distance. The rumbling stopped for a short time, as did the shamlbing movements of the only visible section of the swamp-beat: the muddy, blood-stained print. Breathlessly the marines watched for any sudden shift, any sign of immediate threat; a shimmer worked its way across the Bohen's large reptilian/amphibious form. A vague outline of the beast became hardly visible for a brief moment then disappearing entirely from sight once more.
The brief glimpse was enough for eyes of such elite soldiers though.

The Bohen's serpentine tail's bite can inflict a fairly potent venom.
Mid poison: does an average amount of damage (C rank). lasts for 4-5 turns.

The Bohen can change colors and assume full invisibility at will.
Hidden in its mystical camouflage once more, the creature began to move again through its natural habitat. It was now close enough to the two of them that they could feel the ground trembling slightly underfoot with every one of its giant steps. The muddy print began to pull off-course, away from them, then a terrifying noise met the lieutenants' ears.
The creature took multiple deep whiffs of the swamp air, it was trying to pick up the scent of its next meal. It turned to face the hiding humans and began moving slowly towards them.

The two marines were in a tight spot and what was to come would be something that was natural as it comes so does it arrive, death and newborn life. The tension in the area was at all high the two marines were now being hunted and the hunter was on the prowl feeling all kinds of sensations of life being in the area and enough for a snack for the enormous behemoth.

It was clear under the canopies above a shimmering blue light radiated down from the moon, the creature's outline was barely visible to the eye but enough to have the duo take note of such. It would vanish and come back under the leaves that shadowed the creature in darkness, but as it swung its head side to side it realised the duo were in the area.

Musashi and Shiki both knew it sensed them, but was one about to give way and let the creature follow them that was the question, however, neither realised that assistance was on its way.

With every step of the creature took that echoed sending out reverberating booms, sending their heartbeats quivering with twice more hearbeats with blood flowing at a quicker rate causing them to sweat more. Shiki would take a moment to gaze at Musashi, knowing what she went through got to his knees with one leg pivoting ready to kick off the floor to catch the attention of the creature.

Meanwhile back at the hut as i stood face to face with the elders taking my seat a young reptilian would brew a tea on the table offer it to all then departed.

" Thank you dear "

Lifting the cup and blowing it as the steam would rise from the top noting the minty green-like tone to the brew then softly taking a small sip, as the minty flavor that came from the steam was in fact a minty brew.

" Firstly as an emissary of the World Government, i hereby humbly apologise from taking you away from whatever you was doing. But i am here to begin talks and negotiations of the World Government and yourselves the Reptilla's ... For i wish this to be a humble and peaceful offering that could benefit both parties and instead where Reptilla's are seen as monsters and slaves. "

Musashi and Shiki both knew it sensed them, but was one about to give way and let the creature follow them that was the question, however, neither realised that assistance was on its way.
Tension was realized to its extent as the beast began its slow charge forward at them, sniffing carefully as it moved as it still did not see its prey. The two marines knew that they had been sensed by the phantom-like beast, they needed to formulate a plan. A realization came to the hiding man's mind as the creature approached:
Shiki would take a moment to gaze at Musashi, knowing what she went through got to his knees with one leg pivoting ready to kick off the floor to catch the attention of the creature.
Knowing his partner still may not be at her full strength, he positioned himself to pounce into the air and capture the attention of the Bohen. He waited for the perfect opportunity, estimating its distance from them by measuring the intensity of the monsters footsteps; the time was approaching so quickly and before he knew it, Shiki was in the air. The monster's eyes flicked up and its long, sticky tongue fired out; though it was invisible, Shiki would see the shimmer of its saliva in the moonlight...Luckily, it seemed so did someone else!

A fallen piece of tree was thrown into the air to meet the shiny tongue before it hit Shiki. The Bohen retracted it tongue and crunched down on the log, destroying it with only one bite before letting the remnants fall from its mouth. A reptilian man rushed into the fray, having just thrown the log he already had his large sword drawn. "Your friend has sent us." He said in an accent that was hard to understand at first. "We must run!"
"This monster is fiercer than you could imagine!"

The invisible beast let loose a nasty snarl in response to being tricked into chewing on tree-bark. The sounds of its step quickened in Shiki and Musashi's direction; Shasuryu threw a blind attack at the beast, missing it entirely it seemed.

"Please trust in me and follow!" He said sheathing his weapon and rushing back the way he came, making sure to stay in their line-of-sight.

...

" Firstly as an emissary of the World Government, i hereby humbly apologise from taking you away from whatever you was doing...
The five elders around the table nodded at the humble greeting given by the vice-admiral.
"Welcome stranger." Came the voice of the young lizard-woman.
But i am here to begin talks and negotiations of the World Government and yourselves the Reptilla's ... For i wish this to be a humble and peaceful offering that could benefit both parties and instead where Reptilla's are seen as monsters and slaves. "
The elders seem to stiffen a bit as they looked amongst each other, the World Government rarely brought them anything other than violence or deception. Uneasiness filled the room before one of the elders spoke up:
"We appreciate your candidness," He said fluently. "but your World Government has wronged us repeatedly in the past. They have never done a service to the people of our land, they have only brought us dismay."

"The outside world is filled with killers and thieves. Our land keeps us safe." Spoke up another.
The room was shushed a bit by the first to speak, he waved his hand a bit at the group to capture their attention, then he began.
"What is your name, stranger?" He asked, then stated: "I am called Elder Tennso."

Shiki awaited for the right moment, not too early and neither too late to take this opportunity to kick start a diversion by catching the monster's attention away. Shiki would then push himself off the floor alerting the monster with the sight of Shiki moving capturing it frame to frame with saliva drooling then flicking out that shimmered in the moonlight.

Musashi: " !!! "

Musashi would see this and not fully comprehend the actions of Shiki, but instead clench on her shoulder with a feeling of discomfort would resume grunting and panting heavily.

With Shiki catching the attention of the monster, with his tongue extending out but it wasn't long before a log of piece of was thrown in between Shiki and the monster. Shiki would be alerted and use his observation haki to evade the log just in the knick of time, until another arrived on the scene. At that very time of the log being launched at Shiki's direction, Musashi would hold her shoulder and make way as a means of trying to protect her comrade.

Shiki: " !? ... Friend? ... Sent for us? ... What do you mean? "
Musashi: " Shiki let's just take their hand and let's run now "
Shiki: " I have questions but for now i thank you "

After my worst, i would hummer down and allow the Reptillans to voice their opinions and side of the story for this upcoming talk of peace. But i knew very much that before the talks would be positive the negatives have to be ushered out, this was evidence of the uneasiness filling the room coming from where the Reptillans were in the room.

" I agree the World Government in the past hasn't always been the best but the new era of those in the seats of power has begun to change the direction of where we are going. I would like to apologise for what the World Government has done to you in the past and would like to as of now to make it up to you by bringing peace between us. " responding to the reptilian who spoke first.

Then turning to the other elder and hearing their viewpoint then taking a soft breath then responding, " I would like to change how the world see's you Reptilians like myself a Lunarian. As a means of changing opinions, i would like to create a Marine branch nearby and i hold enough power by stationing a Reptilian in charge. I understand for change to commence it will take time but will blossom to a fruitful relationship between the World Government and Reptillans. "

The elder then raised his hand as the room quieted down, seeing this i turned my gaze towards him as he asked what was my name and then stated his name.

" My name is Lucifer Morningstar, a marine officer with the official rank of Vice Admiral. " ... arching a bit down to resemble me bowing before the elder, my tone was calm yet reassuring but enough to send warmth in the room as my tone, demeanor, and actions were of someone light, but yet held enough power to make things happen.

Luckily, the group would have no little difficulty fleeing from the invisible creature; it moved slowly and relied on its environment and the element of surprise to kill its prey. The lieutenants and the reptilian people outpaced it as they pushed back into the trees, careful to not stumble on the rough terrain.
The lizardmen seemed to be, admittedly, shocked at the discovery of the Bohen being more than a fantasy.
Shiki: " !? ... Friend? ... Sent for us? ... What do you mean? "
Significant time had passed since the question, but Shasuryu felt secure enough to answer now: "The winged one. He found our home." He said to Shiki. "...He told us of your route, it was a dangerous route..."
The lizardman's grasp of their language was minimal, but he seemed earnest. The other lizardmen could barely be spotted by Musashi and Shiki, they had turned and ran as soon as the humans appeared to be safe.

The stomping of the giant beast began to lessen behind them, but with great focus the steps could still be heard approaching. Shasuryu rushed, but with less haste than his initial retrieval of the two humans. "We are not too far from our home." He said to them. "Perhaps your friend can explain better."
The small group retraced their path and before too long, they found themselves coming into view of large wooden walls in the distance. The previously hard to see lizardmen were now in plain view to the lieutenants as they scurried out of the tree-line to spread the word of the Bohen.

...

The council of lizard-folk looked amongst themselves at the mention of the term 'Lunarian'. Perhaps the man's words held weight, if he were truly seen as an outsider amongst his legion yet was still able to rise up to his current standing, there may be a way for reptilians to be welcomed as well. Some of the council seemed unconvinced still, eyeing the vice admiral with weary suspicion.
Tennso shifted in his seat then rose carefully, clearly slowed in his old age. "Morningstar." He said towards the Lunarian, not fully grasping the proper formalities regarding titles. "I believe the council is split."
Tennso looked around at the faces, and seemed to be proven correct; some seemed eager to discuss a potential future in serving as allies, others seemed immediately uninterested.
"Perhaps a deed of goodwill?..." He asked humbly, yet expectantly. "...Should you be able to aid our nation against its current threat, perhaps discussions can transpire."
The council seemed to latch to this sentiment, the invisible monster had somewhat recently dealt a heavy blow to their expansion efforts. An act, such as killing the Bohen, would prove the World Government (or at least this emissary) to be both capable and honorable.
An untrusting elder rose and spoke: "But what if our own can handle the Bohen? We have yet to send our most capable to hunt the beast."

"For good reason!" Shouted the female elder, thus sparking a heated rabble amongst all those at the table. Lucifer watched the elders debate in broken bits of his own language, but mostly slipping away into their reptilian tongue. Finally Tennso waved his hand:
"So be it!" He shouted to gather the assembly's attention. "A competition in hunting will settle this for us."
He looked to Lucifer. "We will send two of our most capable warriors and hunters and in return we ask you provide two of your best as well..."
"Should your people prove more capable, a discussion MUST take place amongst this council."

The council seemed to agree with the notion and all looked to gauge the reaction of their visitor...

To the outside world, Reptilians in general were nothing but a barbaric race, in the same type as Fishman as type "c" creatures. Though rumors are being rumors and only spread to place a stringent force of fear into the hearts and minds of many men, women, and children alike of the human race. But right now a Reptilian had expressed himself by placing his hands out as a means of acknowledgment and understanding between them and Shiki, and Musashi right now.

Shiki staggered as he stared at the Reptilian, Shirasyu. Shocked was one of the feelings he was feeling but also awe at the manner in which the rumors were far too extravagant to the words. Musashi who was a little behind would faintly have her ears twiddled at hearing the words roll off Shirasyu's forked tongue.

The two marines instantly recognised who the Reptilian was referring to, it was their superior officer who must have struck gold in his mission as both simultaneously nodded at Shisaryu as he provided a path for the duo with their lives still intact.

I could hear whispers amongst those present at the council from both sides after my words to try winning the council over, though I had a hunch that despite what I do there will always be the positives and negatives. I'd stay mute hearing the words come from the elder, then a countermeasure of negotiations was expressed. Then taking a moment of allowing the council to express themselves in these negotiations with the elder and female elder.

A wager was placed by the elder, though it came at a sign of competition, to assist the Reptillians in dealing with a threat that endangered them but also others.

" I accept the offer, though i have a counter negotiation to that. I alone will enter, as i am here leading these negotiations "

Then taking my cup and finishing my tea and licking my lip with a sigh, rose to my feet and bowed to the elders.

" I thank you all for this and could someone show me the way "

The talks were semi-agreed upon, now was the time for actions to speak louder than words and live to my side of the bargain of the agreed terms and conditions.

The green-scaled lizardman nodded forward at the walls his brethren were running towards. "My home."
"Forgive my words." He said gesturing towards his throat as he calmly moved in the path of his frantically moving friends. "Your tongue is hard."
Shasuryu's lack of proper control on the marines' own language was blatantly apparent, but there was a basic understanding and a firm insistence to attempt to speak to them, nonetheless.
They crossed into worked land and ventured up behind the lizardmen that had rushed ahead. It wouldn't be long at all before they would reach the "town center", in front of the council building...

...

The council of lizardfolk turned their attention to the visitor, awaiting his response to the negotiation. Elder reptilians, wearing scales of differing colors, murmured and hushed each other, all focused primarily on Lucifer.

Tennso looked around at the elders and there seemed to be no disagreement amongst them, if anything it would only serve to prove either of the cases significantly more. If Lucifer could out-do two of the Reptilia people by himself, that would prove the World Government was a worthy enough power to become subordinate/ally to; inversely the lizardmen should have a far easier time beating Lucifer's efforts if he is by himself...
A theoretical win-win for the lizardfolk; though the stubborn, male elder from before seemed to be the least comfortable with this offer from Lucifer. The Lunarian's confidence inspired a competitive doubt in the lizard-man's mind. He squirmed a bit in his seat, still ideologically opposed to the World Government and what they stood for.

Tennso nodded to Lucifer's request. "Yes." He said shortly and began to lead the (now standing) Lucifer back out of the tent-building hybrid. As they left earshot of the other members of the council.
"I trust it needs not said, we don't expect for both of our own to go missing due to this event-" Tennso started. "-But to be safe...Please ensure our men return. For what it's worth, I believe you."

"I think you're forthright. I trust you want what is best, but the others will never trust you should both our men perish. Nor would I,."

He nodded again and gestured to the lizardman that had guided Lucifer this far. "You seem to be acquainted with Zaryusu." Tennso said. "He can show you the path to the beast in question."
Tennso began speaking to the lizard-man in their familiar tongue, explaining the situation. The lizardman in possession of the cursed sword scowled in response. He disapproved, both physically and verbally. It seemed a small argument was about to erupt when a voice shattered the tension:

"IT'S REAL!" Shouted one of the lizardmen returning from the rescue (in the familiar language that Lucifer couldn't understand). "IT'S NOT A MYTH!"

Another went straight to the group of Lucifer, Tennso and Zaryusu speaking far softer than his companions (in a manner similar to his friend, unfamiliar hisses and random mouth-sounds. The lizardmen heard the words that were intended however:
"The rescue was a success. This man's friends are just outside our walls, being guided here by Shasuryu." He began. "...But... The beast... It's real." He said, still clearly as shocked as the others who had just witnessed it.

Before much calming could be done... Shasuryu, Musashi and Shiki entered the eyeline of Lucifer and those surrounding him. The group was reunited in time for Lucifer and Tennso to further explain the arrangement...
The beast would be hunted: Lucifer Morningstar versus Shasuryu and Zaryusu (as the second most elite hunter was currently recovering from an accidental duel injury).

Tennso nodded to them all. "You're friends to seem know enough to help you find your path." He looked to Shasuryu. "Just as you must guide Zaryusu."
He gave one clap. "You understand the rules. Let the contest begin!" He said. "Please, slay this beast!"

Upon stating my counteroffer, i could feel the room go silent with not a voice or breath is taken just hush hush knowing all fully welled heard my counteroffer. I knew right now there was no turning back and especially on my word, as my word was my bond. As the elder responded, i wouldn't leave without giving them words of encouragement that the task was now on hand.

" My word is my bond, upon completing this i request a favor for a favor later, Elder Tenso. For now, i thank you for your co-operation for this. "

Then backing out of the tent then staring at the night sky with clouds appearing silver-grey, solemnly closing my eyes with precise steady breathing then opening my eyes. Though within earshot i'd hear the Elder state the name of one Zaryusu, I'd appear to look a bit clueless as to who was Zaryusu then it dawned on me a certain reptilian whose name i heard before. This was none other than the Reptilian who'd held his sword by the hand and never let up from the moment i met him to know he still seemed cautious of me.

I'd then take a few steps forward away from the tent as within my eyeliner the rescue team arrived with Musashi and Shiki more importantly who'd halt before me, breathing heavily as they stopped before me and then walked towards them resting my hand on both their shoulders.

" Operation was successful, now i need both of you to withdraw as i will take it from here, and oh that's an order. I don't wanna hear anything from you two now "

My words were calmly spoken, and the justification for my words was simple, not putting either in danger of what was to come as i would put myself in danger now. Turning to Shasuryu and Zaryusu the chosen Reptilians who were a part of this mission now, then stretched then removed my trench jacket, and tossing at Shiki's direction. The two remained gazumped at the words they heard but understood the magnitude of what was wagered, yet remained mute.

" Hold this and before i forget you two stay here and guard this place whilst i am gone "

Then walking towards Shasuryu and Zaryusu, now standing before them ... " We maybe comrades in arms for now, but i expect nothing less. So whatever you two do now, don't take it easy one me. "

" Let's make headway to the beast that we are about to hunt. Though i'd like to request one thing, we both start on opposite sides to hunt one another and this beast. "

Shasuryu was initially apprehensive about the idea being relayed, but upon seeing the fire burning in Zaryusu's eyes he nodded, not to be outdone by his comrade. Tennso nodded as well in kind, and with that the reptiles wasted no time at all. It seemed as soon as Shasuryu returned to his home he was leaving once again at top speed alongside his companion wielding the cursed blade; Frost Pain.
There was a growing morning light in the sky and with this signifier of a nearing daybreak the people of this large, central began drifting back to their homes to sleep through the day.

The two reptilian contestants disappeared into the tree-line as quickly as possible and attempted to use the swampy jungle to their advantage against this foreigner. Shasuryu murmured directions in their reptilian language, he led his comrade through the path that he had taken twice this night, marked by fresh prints on the ground. As they moved, Zaryusu attempted to loosely conceal the prints by brushing over them with his tail and throwing leaf litter in their wake.
Planning to return back to the abandoned fishing village where he had rescued the humans, Shasuryu gave a hushed order: "Keep your guard up, we are getting close to where we lost Bohen."
The other reptilian shook his head in disbelief, he was still shocked to learn the Bohen was real. Many seemed to believe, some even claimed to have seen it...But it was an accepted myth.
There were no clues to where the beast currently was, they had yet to reach the camp; but due to the lack of trembling at this distance it seemed the large monster was dormant at the moment. "Perhaps we should lie low when we reach the fishing camp." Shasuryu said. "Allow the winged one to draw the beast's attention."

Zaryusu scowled at this idea. "No." He said. "We track the beast, and I will hold off the winged one if need be."
The other reptilian stopped his rush and turned to Zaryusu, ready to contest this remark when a single tremor silenced his words. Dropping down below the brush, the reptilian duo wordlessly nodded to one another and moved after the tremor whilst remaining low to the ground...

...

As Vice-Admiral Lucifer Morningstar began his own pursuit in the same direction that his opponents had taken, the Den Den Mushi he had began to ring out: purururu purururu!

The time had come for actions to speak louder than words, from the very words stated in the earlier negotiations now the time had come to eat them very words. Staring at the two chosen Reptilian warriors where one take a look at the other who remained still grasping his hands on the handle of a strange weapon.

Whilst approaching the location of the destination, I could see the early signs of daybreak, the light of the sun had altered the colors as dawn approached.

" Huh, the dawn from the Grand Line seems more warmer than normal "

The words would roll from my mouth under my breath, not loud enough to be heard but for the statement of the beauty of the dawn. As i would be caught staring at the skies the Reptillians quickly took home advantage, seeing that i would chuckle at noting them doing so.

My wings would flutter out behind me fully revealing themselves, and combustion of flames sparked and flickered behind me, taking a huge deep breath of air whilst hearing crickets chirping.

" Don't make me come to you, why don't you come here little beast "

As the area began to erupt, the birds would flock away at the presence as all animals felt the insurmountable pressure letting out a burst of conqueror's haki.

Then using my wings to flap rising up to the air and looking down at the forest canopies, the burst of conqueror haki would be enough for the beast to take note to have it know where i am and catch its attention.

Whilst looking down a familiar sound began to call purrru purrru, taking a look at the pocket where it was coming from then reached to pull it out and answered as the den den mushi made a sound gacha.

" I don't have time for this can you call later? "

Before i could quickly end the call, a familiar voice would be heard over the other line as the den den mushi replicated the person's very appearance.

" !! "

" !! "
The snail's features darkened into a dour glare; sitting atop its long stalks, the Den Den Mushi's eyes pierced into Lucifer. It was apparent without any words, that the other person was upset. A familiar scar and patch of dark facial hair appeared on the little creature to better replicate the speaker on the other end: Admiral Akainu...

"Morningstar." Came an unpleasantly familiar voice. "It's come to my attention that you've disregarded my orders."
"I made it very clear you were NOT authorized to go to The Swamp Kingdom; those monsters and the quagmire they crawl through aren't worth our time and resources!-" The stern voice of the admiral shouted through, then without waiting for a response he continued. "-This little field trip is over!"

"Your orders were to set sail for Palla, now I have anonymous reports from a 'Sinnerman' about you deliberately disobeying the chain-of-command!"
He gruffly barked through the mouth-piece, audibly releasing a large puff of cigar smoke. "What good is a Vice-Admiral that can't follow the simplest of orders?"
The rhetorical question went unanswered, Akainu's voice picked up immediately. "Don't bother, I already know the answer."
"I've sent two, far more reliable, vice admirals to your location." He growled. "I want you to answer for this bullshit in person!"

"You hear me?!"

"ANSWER M-"

I'd turn my head towards the den den mushi showing an expression of being alerted yet the fact it who in specific was at the other end of the call. Then the mouth would pucker the give off a smile that was full of sinister intention, a total 360 degrees from just seconds ago from showing signs of being alerted.

"I made it very clear you were NOT authorized to go to The Swamp Kingdom; those monsters and the quagmire they crawl through aren't worth our time and resources!-" The stern voice of the admiral shouted through, then without waiting for a response he continued. "-This little field trip is over!"

Remaining quiet as I would hear the words roll off Akainu's lips that would be replicated by the snail, then the Admiral would inform me of the insider who informed headquarters about my whereabouts. Treachery came from one within my military ranks, it was a moment of pondering whether it was Shiki or Musashi, one of them was likely the subject of being an insider.

Though before Akainu could finish, having heard enough of the Admiral I'd grab enough force within my fingers to crush the device that allows communication within the den den mushi then toss the den den mushi into the trees that the den den would cling to.

' Akainu the man that has the power i desire, if i want to earn my right as Soveregnity of Hell, i must claim what is mine '

After hearing Akainu's voice, the manner of his tone changed my mood. The negotiations and earlier assumption of me taking the beast by having me lure the beast towards me. The switch on the wall was now turned on, having my nerves twitched that ran through inside of my body.

Aura began to emit, but this was no aura just simply emitting, this was my murderous intent, every fiber in my body was frustrated that was something i would rarely express then the intent quickly dissipated. But that intent would be enough to cause the very air to rumble, this would have everyone in Swamp Kingdom feel the aura that was emitted but as soon as it came it vanished. Then dusting my suit off then nervously chuckling and scratching the back of my head.

" My bad "

Turning my attention towards the island, i'd remember him, the one the moment i saw with a knife pointed at my direction.

' I need to see that one first '

Akainu's words fell from the snail's lips, scolding Lucifer and then began burying him in thinly veiled threats. Frowning at first, Vice-Admiral Morningstar's demeanor tensed as he endured the angry onslaught from the admiral on the other end of the line. Slowly, with building tension still working its way through Lucifer like a venom, his lips curled upward into a diabolical smile.
Though before Akainu could finish, having heard enough of the admiral I'd grab enough force within my fingers to crush the device that allows communication within the den den mushi then toss the den den mushi into the trees that the den den would cling to.
His Lunarian grip tightened more and more around the mollusk as Admiral Akainu's scornful words were repeated. Finally, after hearing enough of his loud-mouthed boss's remarks he squeezed down hard enough to crack the mechanical device affixed to the Den Den Mushi, then with a gracefully toss he had landed the slimy bottom of the creature onto a nearby tree's bark. The snail snapped out of its deep trance almost immediately and calmly looked around then began slowly working its way up the swamp-tree, into the safety of its canopy.

Jaw clenched, Lucifer's smile grew darker and darker. The insides of his body felt as if they were cooking beneath the heat of his violent rage, it was becoming too much for his body to maintain as his anger began translating into a tremor across the swampy land. Lizardfolk began to wobble, some simply dropped to their knees for balance; those nearest looked to Lucifer in shock. Elder Tennso seemed perturbed by Lucifer's outburst of power, he carefully observed the Lunarian while he held, firmly, his staff of gnarled dark-wood for balance. The tremor was quick though, most hadn't even realized what had just happened.
Then dusting my suit off then nervously chuckling and scratching the back of my head.

" My bad "
Tennso, still a bit off-put, nodded in response. "Please show caution." He advised the vice-admiral.

...

At a great distance from the tribal center, a giant beast loomed along a great tree. The slithery beast's body seemed nearly clear, not even casting a shadow beneath itself. Step after step, the scaled feet of the monster moved down the tree. Grotesque, bulging eyes rotated in their sockets as the prey it was tracking far below stepped out of view: a common crocodile.
The Bohen repositioned quickly along the tree bark and in a moment even quicker... The beast opened its maw and released its long, sticky tongue at the crocodilian creature below. In a mere instant, the wild beast was made prey and pulled up through the shadows and into the awaiting maw. In a display similar to what Shiki and Musashi had seen, blood poured down from the tree like a waterfall emerging from thin air.
A sickening set of crunches made its way down to the smaller trees below, alerting other swamp-prey to flee and alerting two very specific hunters to The Bohen's presence in the area.
"Still too far..." Shasuryu remarked as he snapped strong, dead branches into more manageable pieces in his large, scaly hands. The two lizardmen were moving at a slower pace now, eager to avoid their competitor until they had an advantage or until they risked losing the hunt to him.
"The winged one, perhaps his flight will play to his disadvantage..." Replied Zaryusu. "...Or perhaps you allow me to fight him, like I requested." He nagged in his Reptilian tongue. The other ignored his companion and continued snapping branches.

Taking a glance at the elder seeing the reaction from him, having to wither down whatever resentment i had a little outburst then giving off a sigh of relief, then turning back to the focus of my attention. But one thought did pop into my mind, concerning the negotiations and hoping what just transpired didn't sway any chances.

Then gazing down at the canopies my eyes would shut taking a calming deep breath, knowing i could get what i have in my grasp the one with the weapon that radiated something different. Opening my eyes and using my wings to flutter above the canopies, like a bird of prey circling around looking down at its next prey i had to find him which i would but now there was two targets for me, one the beast and the other was him.

' Where is he? ... He's a hard one to trace yet he's a hulk in person ... those scales of his must even have him camouflaged in the greenery down below ... '

I couldn't sense either of the three as my specialty of observation haki was within the precognition sub-class, so i had other means to circling my targets out though it was a daunting and maleficent task, my cards were well drawn.

" Hey you the one with the sword, come out to play or I'll have you watch me turn this entire portion of island into HELL! "

" Come out to play Reptillian, take my challenge Oh-little fish "

" You have been challenged by Sovereignty now come out and play. "

" I'll grant you 10 seconds and make your presence known ... "

" ... 10 ... "

" ... 9 ... "

My tone was heavily sarcastic, one that had the bait thrown before him, he knew full well of the consequences had he sensed the tremors that came just moments ago.

" ... 8 ... "

" ... 7 ... "

Then landing as my wings would slow me down enough to land on my feet with conjugated flames flickering around me then withering and charring the environment around me.

" ... 6 ... "

" ... 5 ... "

" Show me what you desire Reptilian "

The two lizardmen moved low to the ground, closing in on the location of the Bohen. As the two of the them approached the large tree that the giant beast stood upon. Shasuryu, kneeling and placing down his bundle of branches, placed his arm out to stop Zaryusa from advancing. They exchanged a wordless look and nodded, getting lower and investigating the puddle of blood from a safe distance. The larger reptilian looked up the tree and so no sign of the beast, though there it was there and he knew it...
" Hey you the one with the sword, come out to play or I'll have you watch me turn this entire portion of island into HELL! "

" Come out to play Reptillian, take my challenge Oh-little fish "
The confident shouts nearly caused the two hunters to jump from the sudden startle, but they remained still. The Bohen's enormous, invisible head looked to the noise as well, but it remained still...For now...
Though the words weren't understood, Zaryusa understood a challenge when he heard one. He looked to his comrade and began to back away. His attempted departure was met with a firm snag on the wrist from Sharsuryu, with how close the beast was they couldn't risk getting into an argument.
" You have been challenged by Sovereignty now come out and play. "

" I'll grant you 10 seconds and make your presence known ... "

" ... 10 ... "

" ... 9 ... "
The smaller of the lizardmen pulled away and nodded knowingly, he was going to conquer this untrustworthy winged-one.
Shasuryu scowled and shook his head as the wielder of the Frost Pain turned off from the hunt and went to meet the challenge issued by Lucifer Morningstar.
" ... 8 ... "

" ... 7 ... "
Zaryusa tracked the Lunarian's counting, remaining in the dark underbrush to avoid ambush. Despite his careful posture, he moved quickly; he was eager to fight Lucifer; he wanted no World Government business on the island of his people. The freezing blade of the Frost Pain gave off a thin veil of sublimation into the muggy, swampy surroundings.
" ... 6 ... "

" ... 5 ... "

" Show me what you desire Reptilian "
The brown-scaled lizardman could see Lucifer now, standing in an opening in the swamp trees; a naturally-formed arena for the impending duel. Zaryusa still remained low but his eyes were transfixed on his opponent now. His reptilian eyes scanned the angelic figure of the man surrounded by cinders. His clawed mitts tightened around his icy blade in anticipation and he lurched closer, remaining in the shrubbery...
" ... 4 ... "

" ... 3 ... "

" ... 2 ... "

" ... 1 ... "

" ... 0 ... "

The radiant heat met the scales of the lizardman and he knew it was his time to strike, from the shadows he burst out with his weapon readied for Lucifer.
He landed in a dramatic show of his own power and then Zaryusa swiped upwards, running his blade along the ground and sending bits of frost up into the air as he did such.
A shimmering, frosty projectile emerged from the slash and was sent rocketing towards the marine vice admiral (his right arm specifically).
