As the sun continued to work its way across its endless journey down behind the horizon, so too did Shaarib Hassan's vessel work its way across the Azure City. As the sky darkened; the music in the streets vanished, the citizens began finishing up their daily duties and activities. The varied people moved somewhat hastily, but not in a panic.

The marine vessel finally came into eyeline of the Liyue Harbor port meant for their ship, the sky had finally reached a beautiful darkness. A strong glow from the moon rained down on the city, showering it in a beautiful silver gleam; this was accented by the delicate paper lanterns, hanging and flickering along the roof edges of the Chongqing houses.

And now...There was nobody. The streets were empty: there were no citizens moving about, there were no officers or guards watching over the harbor, nobody.

The docks were quiet and empty and the surroundings, even if seen from above, were seemingly clear of threats to the naked eye. Though despite the apparent lack of danger, an extremely ominous aura was unshakeable for all aboard the ship's deck.

...

-"Do not fret much, even if you are in the Blues, you might have heard about what happened at the Headquarters right ? Vice-Admiral Hassan is resilient. A little Air-headed but I raised him well, he isn't going to cause anything.... Can you tell me more about the politics, how are the emperor and empress...Have you seen the protector of the island, Lieutenant ?"
She shook her head in the negative once more, but once again spoke all the same.
"Sir. The emperor is a stern man, from what I've seen at least, and the people of this kingdom revere him..." She frowned. "In truth, I've met with him only a handful of times. He rarely makes time for us, stationed here. The Vice-Admirals may have better luck gaining audience than myself or the Commander though." Mina said gesturing to the elder Hassan as she said mentioned the title.
"I know only what I was told in marine reports about the empress; Queen Fran." The green-haired woman said. "A mink woman of some notoriety. Mostly illusive to our records, and I've yet to meet her in all my time here...Though the Commander has caught glimpses of her, he too hasn't had a chance to meet with her."

She paused for a brief moment then walked over to a table with an artist's rendering on a small sheet of paper depicting Seiryū. She held it up for the Vice-Admiral. "I certainly haven't seen this guardian..." She started. "...Few have. It is said to be hidden away and at the emperor's beck and call. It is only seen if it wants to be seen, and it only wants to be seen if the emperor wants it to be seen."

Mina pointed back at the map, towards a mountainous region. "My best guess says that it rests somewhere in the mountain peaks--Visiting the Temple of Seiryū might provide you with more insight though. Sir." She said shifting her finger towards a spot marked on the map.

# Moonlight took the day and the ship was plunged into the dark. Surprisingly, the crew had no beacon to guide them to the docks. It took some time but the warship was able to gain the World Government's Area. Shaarib's grandfather used to say "Silence is the element in which great things fashion themselves together" and the Skypiean was wary of their situation. The animated city was now so calm and empty, it scared him. Shaarib had to double-take, how come in the span of hours, the lively streets died ? Azure City looked like an abandoned city, silence reigned, Shaarib's ears were strained, he had been trying to perk any noise for a while now.

The silence was deafening, it was accompanied by a lugubre atmosphere. The air was thick, adventuring in the dark and with this condition was not advised. Shaarib couldn't take the gamble of extracting hundreds of soldiers through the city. The citizens didn't respond well to their presence, they even called them evil. If during the day, each of the world government actions was considered suspicious... Imagine at night what he would look like. The Vice-Admiral made his choice, they were able to spend weeks in the barrack what was one more day ?

The marine wanted to investigate what was happening in the city but he had somewhere to be already. His duty was to the soldiers beside him, he had to protect them from threats. He knew about this, running off by himself would cause a lot of damage and having Vlad on the ship permitted him to slack a little. He left a missive, Shaarib put a cloak on his back and jumped from the ship. He had abandoned the shirt and pants for a pair of black shorts and a white tank top. With a map in his hands, the skypiean began to look for what they called the "Sunken City".

The marine toggled between walking and using Geppo to get to the outskirts of the city. He didn't want to alert the citizens, as soon as he crossed the borders, he began running. The distance between Shaarib and the Azure City grew but the more he advanced, the more the air got thicker and wicked. He was nervous, he had made a promise and was going to respect it. He hoped things would settle quietly for once. The bird kept going for an hour until the Dragon City came in sight. The soldier crouched to take rocks in his hands and bounced in the air. He landed on the roof of one of the still intact houses. He took a deep breath, then threw one of the rocks into the sea with great strength. Shaarib wanted to attract the Leviathan Pirates. He was going to repeat the same action. It was time they met and he was ready to wait until sunrise. The skypiean settled with a cigarette in his mouth and patiently began waiting.

- " Ma ma..."

On the other side of the town, Hajib regained the main lobby after some hours. He had received a call from Shaarib and was informed about the situation. The Vice-Admiral searched for the Lieutenant and approached her. The woman was hiding something from them, and he was going to draw it out of her.#

- "Lieutenant, Sorry to disturb you but I have another question. How come the streets are empty immediately at night ?"

- "Lieutenant, Sorry to disturb you but I have another question. How come the streets are empty immediately at night ?"
The young woman, clearly readied for bed, seemed notably uncomforted by the question. "Well..." She paused, she had been worrying at the still-absent commander. "...There are rumors of the undead attacking the harbor. I have never seen such a creature, despite our location being said to be a "hot-spot" for such activity..."

"There very well be truth to it though, as a curfew is loosely enforced within a certain vicinity of the Liyue Harbor."
She grimaced. "In truth, sir, I'm growing worried about the commander and his escorts."

The woman fidgeted for a moment. "They're called the Jiangshi."

...

The marine moved unopposed through the quiet city, only after leaving the Liyue area did Shaarib occasionally encounter a civilian going about their business with a raised eyebrow towards the man, but truthfully there seemed to be minimal night-life in the Azure City as a whole.
Shaarib Hassan moved with great swiftness along his path towards the sunken city housing the hideout of the Leviathan Pirates.

The vice-admiral began knocking on the expected door of the Leviathan Pirates vehemently. Shaarib Hassan would wait for moments into minutes...Minutes would stretch into an hour or so, but before too long came a shadowy figure directly to the surface to face Shaarib.

No hesitation, no underlings to foreshadow his arrival: King Shark, a behemoth of a fishman, rose to the dark, watery surface to approach the man. The lumbering mass of muscle and rubbery skin remained at the surface, using only his legs to swim at the water's surface, the figure was almost rising out of the water to speak to Shaarib.

"What?" The King Shark asked simply; the voice notably, immediately fearsome. Shadows were visible in the night-darkened waters beneath him, they awaited... paddling in the darkness below, but they awaited without undue action...

...

As the night progressed at Liyue Harbor, with Shaarib gone, the silence slowly grew to a whispering...Then a murmuring...Then a quiet and indistinguishable discussion rose from the trees and darkened harbor-streets' corners. The endless rambling carried from everywhere it seemed!
All of it... Just out of sight.

And then finally, a lumbering shadow emerged from a pathway within eyeline of the marine ship; it moved with purpose despite its patient walking speed. Within mere moments of its emergence came the emergence of one...two...three...four...five...six bouncing humanoid shadows.

If noticed and yelled at, the large shadow would merely move forward at the same meandering speed (giving the crew aboard 1 turn to prepare).

# Our hero waited and waited but never gave up, the more he waited, the more strength he was putting behind his throw. If the pirates decided not to show up, one of the rocks would find them under the sea. They decided to satisfy their curiosity only after the third cigarette. A shark Fishman rose from the sea, he had the same size as our hero but might have weighed twice his. Unlike Hody's and Arlong, King Shark came alone. The aura emanating from him spoke for itself, the pirate didn't need an escort. He was at the top of the basket. His presence had made Shaarib's wings flutter a little, the marine was eager to see who was stronger.

"What?" The King Shark asked simply; the voice notably, immediately fearsome. Shadows were visible in the night-darkened waters beneath him, they awaited... paddling in the darkness below, but they awaited without undue action...
Eyes met and a carnivorous grin appeared on Shaarib face. He got up, his piercing red eyes still keeping contact, took a badge from his pocket and showed it. It was proof that he was a Knight from the Ryugu Kingdom

-"Oya Oya, name's Shaarib. As most of the island know, I came with the government to kick y'all asses from here. I would prefer to deal with y'all right now but two things are keeping me from that." Begin SHaarib by raising his left index" Firstly, politics are a hassle and I need authorization from the Emperor to do anything on the Island. " He continued by raising another finger, his middle" Deuxio, I made a promise to Old Man Neptune to try to talk to you and your crew, he doesn't want any blood spilled. I'm not looking for a fight, y'all can find asylum there." He let his arm fall down and finished. " Your choice. Your actions are causing a lot of shit and it can't continue..."

The Skypiean waited for a response but angled his body to be prepared against attacks. His eyes were illuminated, he had activated his Observation Haki to keep track of the crew under the sea. Shaarib had a mixed opinion on the subject, he hoped Shark listened to his proposal but one part of him wanted the Shark to be offended. It wasn't any day you could fight with a pirate with that bounty. He at least tried.

...

"There very well be truth to it though, as a curfew is loosely enforced within a certain vicinity of the Liyue Harbor." She grimaced. "In truth, sir, I'm growing worried about the commander and his escorts."

The woman fidgeted for a moment. "They're called the Jiangshi."
The old man clenched his hand into a fist. The woman had omitted enormous information and both knew where the High Priest's ship was sailing to. At this time, Shaarib and Vlad were probably there already. The Vice-Admiral had listened to the Lieutenant, he had refused to go int he city without any escort. But now whe was telling him that there was a threat at night in the city : The Jiangshi. The dark-skinned made 3 steps forwards, ready to show how furious he was but something in his pocked began to ring, the den den mushi. Hajib answered the phone, and the snail took the appearance of one his commanders.

-"Sir ! Adam here ! Vice-Admiral Hassan decided to not move tonight, the harbor is empty, no a life in sight. He thinks its better to wait here and come at the embassy tomorrow in the morning. He added that soldiers moving in the night could be bad for us. We are organizing perimeter around the ship. The red-haired swordsman is on the main bridge, oredering us around..." The soldier was cut by Hajib

- "Why is it you that is speaking ? Why is Vlad ordering you all... Where is Shaarib ?" asked the man, his monocle barely in place. "Please, tell me my kid is on the ship Adam... Tell me he didn't run in the city ! "

-" Eeeeerm.... I wanted to tell it to you, the VIce-Admiral Hassan let out instructions and left without any of us knowing. He did look a little troubled after what happened this afternoon. The Vice-Admiral tried to calm the citizens down and they reacted badly. They were distracted enough to permit us to leave so we didn't see what happened between them. WHat we attest to is the Vice-Admiral came back with a ruined outfit. Some are saying that he and Vl-Vald ? Came to blow."

- "Enough ! Do not move ! I will be on my way !" said the Vice-Admiral taking his coat and running towards the exit like his grandson hours ago.#

The shark-man patiently allowed Shaarib to speak. The powerful pirate captain listened carefully to every word until the marine finished; a silence followed Shaarib's attempt at persuasion, then the shark smiled. As the smile stretched across his enormous face, the vicious rows of teeth revealed themselves...The shark-man began to laugh hard in Shaarib's face.
"DUNADUNADUNA!!" The laugh was hearty and hinted at power. "I have about as much respect for the Ryugu Kingdom as I do for the World Government!" King Shark said wiping a tear from his eye.

"That was a good one. You relay this back to whoever sent you; we're not going anywhere-" He retorted to the Skypiean. "We'll sink every ship they send for us, and we'll slaughter every crewman."

...

- "Enough ! Do not move ! I will be on my way !" said the Vice-Admiral taking his coat and running towards the exit like his grandson hours ago.#
Mina began to attempt to stop the Vice-Admiral, but thought better of halting her superior officer. She spoke up however: "Sir--" She said hesitantly. "The citizens here may very well notice you moving around at night..."

She didn't want to remind the Vice-Admiral, she knew he was aware. "Sorry sir, never mind." She said stepping back and saluting.

...

The large shadow lumbering towards the ship finally did two small bounces before leaping to an alarming height in the air and at great speed too!

The enormous shadow flew through the air, leaving a thin steak of an unidentifiable fog that quickly vanished in its wake. The undead beast unfurled its hellish claws as it prepared to meet with the deck of the ship. A quiet howl escaped the monster, and with it the faint sounds of quiet screams could be heard accompanying the cry.

# Ironically, Shaarib too began to laugh, a mirthless laugh showing his pointed teeth. He tried to keep things civil and the pirate answered. They were irredeemable, it was better, now he had no excuses. The Skypiean smiled smugly at the shark and rolled his shoulders. His pocket had been vibrating. The crew might have realized his absence. They were going to wait. He did not want to be disturbed now. Boy was he wrong...

- " Ma ma, you are a fun one ! My ship was sent after y'all but here I am still alive..." began Shaarib a finger on his chin, trying to act pensive "I said what I wanted... Next time I won't be cordial. I'm the type of guy to resolve things with my fist. We both know where to find each other..." The skypiean then clapped his hands together "As soon as I get that authorization, I'm coming here... It's a date ! I'm going to come alone and I will even let all your court assist to it. I'm not coming at night though. We will need light, Imma wait for the sun to be high enough in the sky for everyone to see me chopping your head off." finished the Vice-Admiral with the same smile daring the pirate to do anything.

Shaarib straightened his back and blues flames began to walk on his body. The Vice-Admiral said what needed to be said. King Shark asked him to leave so he was going to follow the orders. He would wait a moment, wink at the shark, and with a jump, he would change into a phoenix. Petty as he was, Shaarib would create more flames than necessary in his ascent. At this hour, no citizens would be outside. The bleak atmosphere had increased.
....

On the other side of Azure City during Hajib trip to the Harbour, soldiers were met with bizarre opponents. The soldiers had observed a strange activity. Shadows were moving to the ship, and as mandatory the soldiers tried to warn the visitors. The shadows went past the perimeter and the soldiers fired their weapons but it did not deter the trespassers. It even looked like it didn't affect them. Another salvo followed quickly and was met with the same reaction. Vlad was alerted, the future guardian wanted to go in front of the ship to help them but something else had caught his attention. One of the shadows had decided to attack, unlike the others he was moving too fast for the untrained eye. The bleak aura around it was more potent than the others, it even had smog following it. The shadow was gunning for the main bridge so our swordsman unsheathed one of his swords and cut the air with a circular movement. Not long after, a spiraling air blade coated with haki went to meet the claws.#

"DUNADUNADUNADUNA!" The shark began to laugh as Shaarib finished his threats and blue flames burst out from around him. The Skypiean took off into the air and King Shark shouted after him. "Do yourself a favor, don't bother coming back!"
The amused pirate watched the blue streak of flames leave the vicinity of the Sunken Dragon City.

The pillar of shredding winds shot towards the giant undead creature, still in the air at this point. The burning stomach of the beast tore open as the attack closed in on the creature, the giant Jiangshi allowed the entirety of the ranged sword attack to enter into his stomach cavity; without so much as recoil from the attack's impact.

...AND the giant beast continued down towards the deck of the ship, finishing its own attack; now aimed more at the swordsman than the lifeless, wooden deck of a ship. The beast's stomach hung open as it dropped onto the swordman, the monster's claws were extended still; aiming to pierce and crush the sword-wielding opponent.

The cries of the damned could be heard, louder and louder, with the creature's rapid aerial approach!

In response to the gunfire, the smaller six Jiangshi quickly leaped from the line of fire and onto the ship; all scattering to different locations. The zombies bounced, even when they remained "still". They wouldn't attack yet, but they were trying to locate living beings to attack.

I'm pretty sure I'm using that one: unless I'm missing what you're saying. Using the chart you posted, the DPRs match up. 🤔 I'll fix it if I'm mistaken though.

# Vlad's eyes were wide open, the monster's belly had opened and it ate his attack like it was nothing. The swordsman's surprise had made him lose time and he wasn't prepared enough to meet with the claws. Clumsily, Vlad sank his feet in the ground and put his sword above his head trying to intercept the incoming attack. The man's knees bent a little due to the weight of the Jiangshi and some of the claws were able to slash into his arms but Vlad was able to repel it wincing a little.

- "What are you ?"

Clash : Vlad's base : 101-119: 4. City Block Level Vs Jiangshi's 7. Mountain Level ==> Attack is 3 DPR higher: Overwhelms the weaker attack but loses 2~DPR ==> Jiangshi's Attack : 120: 5. Town Level which is 1 rank under Vlad's durability: 101-119: 6. City Level
The future guardian, rolled his shoulders, and put the swords in his mouth while his hands went to the rapiers at his sides. The monster in front of him wasn't one to trifle with. Vlad had a duty of care, he preferred to attract attention than leave the soldiers with the shadows that got on the ship. The blades turned black and the red-haired began running towards the mastodon. He had his swords crossed on his torso and waited until he got near enough to spread them. As he tried to cut the beast's torso with his swords, he turned his neck with enough force hopping to cut the head of the monster.

Rengoku Oni Giri (煉獄鬼斬り Rengoku Oni Giri?, literally meaning "Purgatory Demon Slash"): A much stronger version of "Oni Giri", where the user still faces away from the opponent, and waits for them to come. He then turns around and leap towards the attacking opponent. This may be a way to make his already lightning-fast triple slash even more sudden. The effect of this attack leaves an X-shaped stream of blood.(61 Mastery, 61 Strength and 81 Movement Speed)
Destructive Potency Rank: A ==> 4(Base)+3(A)+2(Hardening) ==>9. Small Country Level

On the other side of the ship, the soldiers had stopped shooting, their targets jumped on the ship and stood still. The commander had put his hand in the air ordering a ceasefire. They had tried to call the Vice-Admiral, maybe now was the time to call again. They needed to lose the most time possible until the birdman came back.#

- "What are you ?"
The giant beast pressed down while letting loose a vile hiss, accompanied by the quiet pleas of the damned spirits trapped within the beast's gut. The swordsman managed to push away from the Jiangshi and the large beast mindlessly lashed out (without purchase) in response.
The blades turned black and the red-haired began running towards the mastodon. He had his swords crossed on his torso and waited until he got near enough to spread them. As he tried to cut the beast's torso with his swords, he turned his neck with enough force hopping to cut the head of the monster.

-"Purgatory Demon Slash !"
The man was too fast for the giant zombie this time, Vlad slashed away at the monster; carving his blades up the torso into the swollen head. The beast didn't cry out however, the attack found purchase and slashed away a huge portion of the monster's flesh. The brutal attack left the beast faceless and with enormous tears up the front of it's torso and neck.

It didn't hesitate: the giant Jiangshi pushed through and attempted to bring its giant clawed arm down on Vlad's head in retaliation to being attacked. Although the attack would have ended any living creature, this undead beast still pushed on; oblivious to any pain. The sickle-like claws slid through the air towards Shaarib's man; screams of the locked away souls pushing out of every open wound in the beast's body.
Lièfèng (裂缝)- The beast brings a single claw down on its smaller opponent, slicing and crushing the skull of its opponent. DPR: A (61 Strength, 61 Chinese Kenpo)

The smaller Jiangshi quickly dispersed out, ignoring their giant comrade and lurching out at any and all isolated marines on the ship, prioritizing the weak. The zombies each would find a fodder and unleash and unnamed attack on them; some doing elaborate spinning kicks, others doing open-palm strikes, one of them crouch low before springing up and headbutting a poor marine in the jaw.

It seemed they were using the larger Jiangshi as merely an opportunity to reap away the souls of the humans aboard.

# The swordsman's attack landed and Vlad's was mitigated regarding the results. He smiled when the monster's head got cut off but got confused when screams came out from the cut. Inattentive, Vlad got sliced in his torso by the monster. The beast was still able to fight without its head and the guard suffered because he had gotten careless. One of his swords fell on the wooden floor and he put his free hand on his wounds to stop the bleeding. The sound was deafening. The guardian did not know what type of monster this thing was but he was sure, the cries of pain and despair were coming from what the innocent it ate. He looked at the beast and tightened his grip on his sword, he wasn't going to be fooled twice. The blade turned black once again and Vlad prepared to attack when a hand grabbed his collar and yanked it with force backward. In front of him, a blast of water came from the sea and submerged the beast, and kept going to the dock station. The guardian turned his head and saw Hajib looking at him.

A moment later, Shaarib landed on the ship, sea water dripping from his hands, on his face a cocky grin.

- " Ma ma, look like you are in trouble dog..." the Vice-Admiral walked to the swordsman and put his hand on his wounds, blue fire came out of it and covered the wound, beginning to heal it." Don't worry no more, cause SHaarib Hassan is here ! And I'm going to kick them ninjas asses !" said Shaarib darting forward to confront the six Jiangshis that were left on the ship.

- " It's because of you they are in this position ! You never listen ! Go after the big one ! It's the leader" spat Hajib angrily after his grandson.

In front of him, a blast of water came from the sea and submerged the beast, and kept going to the dock station. The guardian turned his head and saw Hajib looking at him.
As the violent propulsion of seawater smashed into the giant Jiangshi, a smear of ruddy brownish-black mixed in as the torrent ripped away at the already-damaged beast. As the water ripped away more and more and more of the beast, its stomach cavity fell open and began absorbing the remainder of the water blast.

It lumbered upon its legs even now, its right arm had been torn away and much of its body was shaved away, thus revealing its bulky and monstrous skeletal structure.
It moved forward towards the living creatures, the creature had no will to preserve itself...Only to kill anything alive.

The hollow howls emerging from the Jiangshi were louder now, with more of its nightmarish body torn away. As the howls radiated more and more, the negative emotions seemed to simply infect all those who could hear it; feelings of regret and unshakable fear could be felt bubbling in the hearts of those unfortunate enough to catch the mournful wails.
Kū (哭)- The beast passively begins emitting a horrible sound capable of rending those within earshot with the "Scared" status effect. The beast can still continue using other abilities while the screams continue :: The screams will not stopped until the beast is slain. DPR: n/a | Scared: affected is nauseated, has reduced observation Haki and finds it hard to concentrate on anything but the thing scaring them. lasts for 3-6 turns. Requires at least 71 mastery
As the screeches and squeals of the beast began rising in volume the other Jiangshi took notice. Their bouncing bodies switched attention to Shaarib and the injured Vlad. Two of the zombies suddenly burst into actions and launched themselves at Vlad (both leaping into jump-kicks); then another two launched themselves at, the already-approaching, Shaarib Hassan (one throwing a 'haymaker'-type punch and the other doing and elaborate kick).
vs Vlad :: Tiào tī(跳踢)- The undead Jiangshi use their forward, bouncing moment to transition into a jump kick; aiming for their target's head/neck/upper torso. DPR: B(x2) (61 Strength, 41 Chinese Kenpo)
81-100: 3. Large Building Level + 2 (DPR: B) = Town Level!!(x2)

vs Shaarib :: Qǐzhòngjī tī(起重机踢)- The undead Jiangshi changes their bounce momentum, stopping short of the target then delivering a kick to the target's chin; akin to an uppercut. (It's the Crane Kick from Karate Kid.) DPR: A (61 Strength, 61 Chinese Kenpo)

Diàoyú xiàn(钓鱼线)- The undead Jiangshi sweeps their arm as they rocket past their target, attempted to clothesline their target to the ground in passing. DPR: C (31 Strength, 31 Speed, 31 Chinese Kenpo)
81-100: 3. Large Building Level + 3 (DPR: A) = City Level!!
81-100: 3. Large Building Level + 1 (DPR: C) = City Block Level!!

The other two bouncing, undead humanoids lurched out towards another set of low-level marine victims to dispatch.
Unnamed Attack DPR: D(x2)
81-100: 3. Large Building Level x2 (at 2 different targets)

...And to meet the elder Hassan, was the horrific beast put into a state of forced decay by Shaarib and Vlad. The awful cries continued outwards towards all living souls on the deck of the marine vessel. It didn't attack just yet, but it shambled forward towards the older vice-admiral...

[Shaarib]

Shaarib was happy, he found a way to release all that pent-up anger the meeting had caused. King Shark had disrespected him and the monsters in front of him seemed not to feel any pain. The Skypiean cracked his neck and grab one of the weird-looking shells he had on him. With a quick press of his fingers, it expulsed a liquid cloud made of iron. The iron spun around his hand until it covered his whole arm. With two movements of said arm, the iron expanded again forming a jagged blade. Shaarib, the gentleman he was, waited for the shadows to make the first move. Two of them jumped forward ready to unleash their attack. The spikes began to spin on the blade letting out a little buzzing noise. The Vice-Admiral bounced in the air ready to meet his foes. He moved his arm in a semi-circular motion, the blade met with the zombies and kept going. Shaarib's weapon cut their bodies cleanly in two different parts. The Vice-Admiral's focus seemed elsewhere, the soldiers around were clutching their ears desperately, and some were yelling for it to stop. They had tried to push it overboard, but the direction in which they sent the beast wasn't the one. The jiangshi had absorbed most of the seawater thrown at it and kept getting up even without its head and now most of its body. Shaarib was going to send the rest of it drowned at the bottom of the sea.

Behind him, the screams were getting closer. The beast had decided to go after Hajib, from the corner of his eyes, he saw the old man reciting some prayers. It has been a long time since Shaarib took the time to say the usual words before a fight. Maybe it was the reason for his troubles. Shaarib turned in their direction and hit the ground ten times before disappearing. He appeared above the monster, in his hand another shell, a red one. A long press on it, released a dragon made of fire that tried to eat the beast.

___
[Hajib]
- "You kids, are overeating ..."

Hajib was a calm presence, he spent most of his life fighting and was in the twilight of his career. He wasn't in his prime anymore, his punches weren't flying as fast nor hitting as hard. He had been a fiery representative of Absolute Justice. He had spent the majority of his career fighting pirates. He had dreams of being decorated, being feared on the blue seas, of being an Admiral. He did not accomplish the latter, Hajib hit his ceiling while his contemporaries kept marching forward. He ended up with a marine base in the New World. Hence why he ought to let Shaarib accomplish his dreams. Their mission was to reconcile the Government with the Chongqing Kingdom by ending the threat of the Leviathan. Not to fight Zombies. The leader Hajib and Shaarib had tried to send away "drank" all the water. The screams originating from the missing head became more prominent. The soldiers Hajib had trained, weren't strong enough to not get destabilized by it. They became afraid of the beast. Hajib knew what to do, he opened his arms wide and with a voice worthy of a tenor he began praying. He had to pray for the monster he was going to kill. To pray for the souls he was going to free. And for once, he had the perfect verse.

"Mon ami, tu prends ton envol à présent ?
Vers un monde qui nous rejette, toi et moi ?
Tout ce qui t'attend est un sombre lendemain,

Peu importe ou les vents souffleront."

My friend, do you fly away now?
To a world that abhors you and I?
All that awaits you is a somber morrow
No matter where the winds may blow

Barely after finishing his prayers that his grandchild had passed his judgment. The kid liked dramatics too much, he had decided to burn the zombie.
___
[Vlad]

Vlad was embarrassed, he was supposed to be the next guardian and the first foe he faced, was able to hit him. Hajib had seen him in that position. Finally, Shaarib was the one to help heal his wounds. The swordsman's wounds were slowly closing but he remarked that the healing was costing him some energy. He wanted to sat there and not move for a while but the zombies decided otherwise. In front of him, Shaarib had already dispatched the zombies and Vlad couldn't admit to lose against him.

Shaarib moved with an unmatched swiftness, deftly dispatching the undead creatures swarming about his ship.
The Vice-Admiral bounced in the air ready to meet his foes. He moved his arm in a semi-circular motion, the blade met with the zombies and kept going. Shaarib's weapon cut their bodies cleanly in two different parts.
With ease Shaarib had clashed with the Jiangshi that had prepared an elaborate kick and bisected the other. Shaarib had left both of them torn asunder, one of them cleanly in half and the other carved in a way that would definitely not support a living creature; disgustingly this one lived.

The horrifically maimed Jiangshi bounced to its feet, the upper half of it's body flailing about limply; the sunken eyes of the undead creature were rolled back in a way that seemed even more lifeless than before.
Without seeing, the cleaved body bounced a few more times (towards Shaarib), but the marine disappeared suddenly while engaging the giant Jiangshi; so the little nearly-dead undead switched its focus to yet another innocent marine fodder; joining in with the other two loose Jiangshi wreaking havoc amongst the low-ranks.

The horrific figure bounced along towards an isolated crewman and lunged at him with an outstretched foot.

The giant monster lumbered forward, focused on the elder human. It seemed just about ready to lunge at the man when Shaarib made his move. The burst of draconic flame engulfed the rotten monster; the water drenching the beast quickly sizzled and steamed off leaving only dry skin to swelter and fry away. The screams grew to an alarming volume before blinking out suddenly as the beast was dispatched into a pile of ashes on the singed section of the deck it had been standing on prior.

The Jiangshi Devourer had finally been (truly) killed, and hopefully the spirits enslaved within could be granted a true peace now because of the wise grandfather's prayers.

-"360 Pound Cannon !"
As the Jiangshi rapidly closed in on Vlad, the sword-based projectile ripped through them like a concentrated maelstrom. Their undead, bouncing bodies were thrown across the deck of the ship; but they arose in mere seconds. The Jiangshi bounced in place before rushing towards Vlad and performing the exact same technique that they had done previously: with a clear disregard for their own "lives".

The Vice-Admiral cackled, the little kid afraid of fire never died but the man now saw the beauty of it. Fireworks as he called it, the dragon ate the beast and it burned to light the area with a myriad of colors. Maybe it was the goddess' blessing, maybe it was the souls showing their gratitude but they would never know. The job wasn't finished, they were still the others zombies around. The Skypiean looked at the other Hassan for instruction, deep down he wanted the elder to be proud of his actions. Hajib, stoic as ever pointed to the 3 other jiangshi still wreaking havoc on the ship. If Fire was the solution, Shaarib was the only one that could help. The Vice-Admiral, ridiculous as ever, did a salute and bounced toward the zombies. The glove on his right hand turned red and began emitting smoke. With a flick of his wrist, hot air bullets to each jiangshi.

DPS: B [Moderate Burn] ==> 4+2+2 ==> 8. Island Level
Description: A projectile version of Shigan that fires sharp compressed air bullets from the fingers, similar to "Rankyaku".

The red-haired kissed his teeth loudly. The zombies weren't stopping, they wouldn't stop if the ship's crew wasn't dead. His arm has healed, enough for him to fight correctly. Rapier back in his mouth, he picked his sword on the ground and got ready to intercept the jiangshi when eh heard Hajib.

-"We need a proof of their existence kid !"

Which meant that Vlad had the free reign to cut anything but the heads. The swordsman sheated his swords and with his rapier now in hands cut the air 8 times, creating a claw with his each of his slash. On the last slash he send them away to the jianshi, one for each member they had.

- "Eight Fold Claws ! "
The user unleashes eight forward slashes with each one on top of the other in extremely quick succession.
DPR: B 41 Mastery 41 Strength ==> 101-119: 4. City Block Level + 2 + 1 ==> 7. Mountain Level, 4 above so nothing change

The plan worked, the jiangshi fell on the ground and Hajib followed, a cord in his hand, he began to tie the beasts up. The Vice-Admiral began yelling to the soldiers around.

-"Bring one of them to the cells ! The other one we will keep him there in plain sight, they "forgot" to tell them about this and put my crew at risk ! We will show them who we are ! We are proud soldiers of the Marine !" The soldiers began cheering " Now children ! Go help your fallen brothers ! Give them the care they need ! If it isn't enough call Vice-Admiral Shaarib, it's his job !"

With an outstanding display of efficient threat removal, both Vlad and Shaarib sent uniquely powerful projectiles that perfectly aligned with their undead targets. All of the remaining Jiangshi remaining on the ship were dispatched with a brutal display of strength, skill and precision (and a good amount of haki for good measure). Shaarib's searing bullets would hit first, either stunning or killing the creatures on impact, but then the fierce bladed claw projectiles would assuredly finish off any "surviving" Jiangshi.

The lightly smoking remains of the twice-dead humanoids were scattered about the deck, ceremonial cloth lightly resting over most of their faces. It seemed for a moment that the ship was free of threat...

As the marines followed their instructions, working proudly through the chilly night, a frightful sight could be seen approaching from the same alleys that the Jiangshi had originally emerged from...

There were more bouncing figures...And another giant, hulking figure leading the pack, this one sported a single heavy iron ball manacled between his ankles; so this large monster (unlike the last) was forced to bounce akin to its comrades.

The Jiangshi of the Azure City were coming in waves at the marine ship- As soon as one would be seen they would beginning hastening their way towards the World Government ship.

# Shaarib hit the deck and sat immediately, he pats his pants for any signs of his cigarette pack. He didn't want to do anything more, it didn't take him long to find one and light it. Smoke was filling his lung, and he was exhaling it with a smile on his face. Tobacco was bad, and was killing people, Shaarib had always listened to his tutors's advice. Smoking was a vice, and it stopped being one for our hero when he ate the Tori Tori. His lungs were as clean as a newborn.

- " Ma ma , ain't nothing better !"

His smile grew when he saw Hajib's scowl, the old man was fighting between lashing out or remaining calm. The latter won, and Shaarib was able to smoke in peace. The first one died too early, the second one too. He just put the third one on his lips when he heard a grunt coming from the elder. SHaarib whined but let the cigarette drop on the ground. The skypiean got up, threw his cloak on the ground and cracked his back so hard that even the Emperor could hear it.

- "You are right, it's time I look at the injured on that ship" said Shaarib looking around.

- "Not now child, First, I need to know where you were and why you ran away in the first place !" retorted Hajib

Since he met with his grandchild on the harbor, he had wanted to confront the child. A leader shouldn't leave his crew like that. Ge had wanted to yell how disappointed he was that the child he raised would be troubled by civilians. Troubled by simpletons yelling and throwing things at him. If he was conflicted by that, how would he lead the Marine one day ? He raised a strong soldier, one who prioritized the mission above anything. But Hajib knew how a good leader never undermined a soldier publicly. He knew how fiery the skypiean was, they relation was fragile so Hajib kept his mouth shut. They had to fight an unknown threat and he needed Shaarib in the best conditions. His grandchild made him proud. He was moving as fast as lightning, and the old man barely kept up with them. For a moment, he saw the child that left Cross Island. They dispatched the zombies and now in front of him, sat a lazy soldier he did not recognize. The Skypiean was casually smoking and smiling as if nothing had happened. He kept puffing and huffing knowing full well where he was. He smoked two cigarettes before Hajib's emotions took control !

-"What type of leader are you ?! Is this what you think a soldier is supposed to conduct himself ?!" continued the Elder, his face millimeters away from the younger

The aura around them shifted, soldiers looked at them. Shaarib immediately squared his shoulder, and took some steps back, his face contorted in a grimace. The man ran one of his hands through his hair and suddenly, he began laughing. A cold laugh contrary to his belly one. Hajib did not move, waiting for an answer. When Shaarib stopped, he too began yelling.

- " Who do you think you are ?!" his voice full of venom, the soldiers eyes went wide. What was happening around them ? The two Vice-Admirals they saw laughing together during their trip were at each other's throats.

The only one not moving was Vlad. This scene wasn't new for him, the last time the three were together, the same thing happened. It was the day, Shaarib learned about his transfer to the Blues. The Hassans always had the same problem. They never told the truth to each other, things would be swept under the rug until one exploded. It happened far sooner than Vlad thought. Hajib was worried about his grandson and couldn't bring himself to confess it while Shaarib with his abandonment issues thought Hajib was not trusting him. The two continued yelling at each other completely discarding the thick atmosphere forming around them.#

The focus began to draw in on the Hassans, locked into a heated argument. The personalities of the two men seemed to be coming to another dangerous intersection. Vitriol spilling over into the air was enough to distract the crew aboard the marine vessel of the impending secondary wave of Jiangshi rapidly approaching the side of the ship.

" Who do you think you are ?!"
As Shaarib's violent retort fired out towards his grandfather, the vessel they stood upon rocked to a comical degree and a horrid creaking could be heard from the side of the ship, it sounded as if the boat was beginning to take on sea water.

The enormous Jiangshi had smashed its body through the hull of the ship and had entered in through the side, rather than leaping to the deck like its fallen counterpart; the smaller Jiangshi flooded in behind it (along with a torrent of the ocean's salty waters).

# Shaarib couldn't believe his ears, everything went well. No soldiers were hurt, he had wanted to chill a little and laugh with the soldiers to motivate them a bit. They weren't under his supervision but the weeks with them made Shaarib care more than he should. Now, he was getting undermined in front of them. Hajib had begun yelling at him and spouting nonsense. The Skypiean at first thought he was joking but the elder kept going, kept asking about the younger's whereabouts. It if were the only thing he had said, Shaarib would have probably folded and admitted. But Hajib decided to show the whole ship his mistrust. At least he finally showed what he thought about his grandson. It took them weeks but the high priest finally revealed his intentions. Shaarib had tried, he had kept his head down. It had been years since they had seen each other. Shaarib had tried to bury the resentment he had, he wanted everything to go smoothly. The doc at the HQ has said, he needed to make a list of the people that wronged him and try to speak to them. Hajib was on top of the list, he had a plan to talk to him after the mission but maybe now was the time. The winged-man laughed and retorted viciously

" Who do you think you are ?!"
Hajib kept his pokerface but Shaarib continued

- "Do you think you are that important to say those things to me Vice-Admiral ?!" he needed to make a divide between them " Are we family ? Or am I a little pet project ?! I do not owe you anything... You put clothes on my back and gave me food, I will never forget this... The punishments, the harsh training did not matter... I was fed and I had a place to sleep... But you know what you did...You are a hypo-"

The joust was interrupted by an attack. The ship's hold had been breached and it was slowly sinking. Red-Eyes blazed in the cold night, it was the freaking zombies. Another waves came and took their chances with Shaarib and Hajib's fight. The birdman let out a deep sigh and rushed to the foes, slowly changing into his hybrid form.

- "Children, take what you can, save the food and the necessities. Leave the clothes, the other warship will have enough for us ! Vlad, follow me please !" he threw one of his dials at the man " Use the iron to clog the breach. The ship will still sink but it will buy us some time."

The population lied to them and now the government had lost a ship. He fell on the zombies, fist already coated in hardening. The Vice-Admiral hit the air with a karate chop and a shockwave went on to meet with the zombies.

The ghoulish fiends began attempting to writhe into the damaged ship, entering from below. The horrible moans echoed back and forth amongst the lot of them as they pressured the vessel.
Before any of the Jiangshi could make their way into the ship's wound a bright light would appear above their heads and the powerful voice of Shaarib Hassan called out:
- "Sea Surface Splitter !"
And with that the dark-skinned Skypiean man brought down a powerful Fishman technique atop the zombies. The shockwave given off from Shaarib's attack seemed to focus primarily into the Jiangshi Devourer, from beneath the lifeless skin the innards could be seen squirming around from the impact. The energy of the shockwave pulsed out and launched the other Jiangshi firmly into the side of the ship, their bodies released a dull cracking as their bones broke against the wood of the vessel.

The large Jiangshi (still functioning) attempted to bounce and in an instant the legs shattered from beneath it. Gravity brutally yanked the beast's enormous torso straight downward, effectively removing the legs from the zombie.

Despite the brutal effectiveness of Shaarib's technique; the Devourer' awful song began to pour out through the bursted sections of skin throughout its body.
Kū (哭)- The beast passively begins emitting a horrible sound capable of rending those within earshot with the "Scared" status effect. DPR: n/a | Scared: affected is nauseated, has reduced observation Haki and finds it hard to concentrate on anything but the thing scaring them. lasts for 3-6 turns. Requires at least 71 mastery
The other Jiangshi, all ten still alive, changed their focus from their point of entry to their assailant. In a seemingly bizarre moment of coordination two Jiangshi locked arms and spun to build momentum before one of them lifted and threw the other at Shaarib! The Jiangshi (in-flight) would position their body for a flying high-jump kick.

81-100: 3. Large Building Level + 4 (DPR: S)= Mountain Level!!

# Shaarib was done. The first thought that came up to his mind was to destroy the port. No one was around so he could just find an excuse for it. He could say the zombies had done it but something still irked the Vice-Admiral. The population knew about the zombies but he did not see anything related to them. They weren't causing destruction around or attacking civilians in their houses. So why did they choose to attack the government's ship only ? Were they controlled by the empire ?

- "..."

The main zombie like previously, was able to survive and from the holes of it's body, release an ominous sound. The more Shaarib was hearing it, the more he became intoxicated by it. He resisted it well the first time, but it looked like, he was getting weaker. He needed to act quickly. The bird used his water dial to produce a bubble. With his right palm, glowing, he hurled it forward. The bubble, fuming, took the shape of a spear and went on to meet with the zombies. The birdman hit the ground ten times turning into a blur. He went behind the beast, wings fully opened. He flapped them strongly creating a blast. He wanted to throw both of the body parts in the sea. With the boulder, he was sure the bottom part would sink. The real question was to know what was going to happen to the torso and mainly, the bottomless gut.

On the other side, Vlad was doing his best to use the eisen dial. The shell was releasing either too much iron, or not enough. The swordsman was getting angrier. He had been cocky and suffered. He had wanted to see the row between Shaarib and Hajib, and it prevented him from saving the ship. He was supposed to become the guardian of the Goddess and wasn't even able to get his actions right. Water was getting in, and the ship was sinking. The red-haired let out a yell a hit the shell one last time. The iron cloud flew out and formed a rectangular block wide enough to slow the wave.

On the main deck, everyone had been moving, the soldiers had divided themselves into different groups, some went to help the injured off the boat, another part went in the kitchen to save the most they could and the last went into the infirmary. Everyone had been moving except one. Hajib stood firm in his shoes, eyes shadowed. He was repeating the scenes that passed minutes ago. The high-priest realized what he had done. He mistook his counterpart for the kid that left Cross Island. The worry he had repressed for years came out and he lashed out angrily to Shaarib thinking the child would take it as always. It did not happen and the Skypiean responded with more venom than he thought possible. How would their mission go now that the two superior officers went at each other's throats? Hajib wanted reconciliation between them and just pushed his grandchild away. One thing was sure, his years were catching up to him.#
