Sakaiminato, The Vermilion Town
Located upon South Blue is an island known as the Vermilion Island, home to the Vermilion Bird, Suzaku. The Island goes through a cycle of seasons once every decade, following the rise and rebirth of Suzaku. The Vermilion Bird rises from its ashes at the start of Spring and 'dies' in Autumn, where its egg will stay unmoved for the period of Winter. The town of Sakaiminato is the only place of civilization on the island.
Suzaku is considered the guardian deity of the island, not because she protects its inhabitants but because she drives away an evil that infects the island. The Vermilion Island used to be uninhabited, but the appearance of humans and dwarves over the last few centuries has given rise to an evil, known by locals as 'Yokai', a race of demons that has infected the town. They seems to appear during the winters where Suzaku remains an egg which led to attacks to the town from both outside and within occurring very frequently. In the winters, heavy fog and snow covers the city making it difficult to stay outside of the houses for long period of time.
In the current cycle of winter, attacks by demons have not only dramatically increased but also became even stronger - causing the local militia to be unable to deal with the threats any longer, thus forcing to look for help by the World Government to help drive away them away until Suzaku rises upon her ash once more to rid Sakaiminato of the Yokai. On the last year of Winter, things have became much more dangerous than it ever has in Sakaiminato as on the last few days of the Winter, an infamous event feared by many known as the Hyakki Yagyō, or also called the 'Night Parade of One Hundred Demons' occurs, filled with incredibly powerful Yokais.
The current ruler is Yotsuya whom have led the defense of Sakaiminato throughout the decade in order to protect the egg of Suzaku. Her request for help from the World Government has been met, as a contingent of marine forces now bolster the town's defense.
Disclaimer: Defeating all demons is NOT required to beat the island for the as it is stated in the 'Rewards' section that only Suzaku's revival is required. This island is made more in part for a 'wave survival' sort of theme which is recommended for a group rather than solo - however it is entirely possible to do it alone regardless of it.
Streets of Sakaiminato
The main hub of the town, used to be bustling with life where most human and dwarves - the town whilst quite large are essentially one giant area, which connects to the temple of Suzaku and Sakaiminato Port. As of now, the demons have infiltrated the Sakaiminato and even disguise themselves as humans, lurking in the night to prey upon the unsuspecting, causing large problems not just from the Yokai Army but also from within. The streets of Sakaiminato is also were most of the battles against Yokais would take place should they breach the gates.
The Temple of Suzaku is the largest and highest building in Sakaiminato, where the Suzaku eventually goes through the cycle of rebirth at its open roof nest. Originally Suzaku performs the cycle of rebirth at an unnamed location but after a long while, Suzaku would head to the building on its own and took up residence as her nest, resulting in turning the building into a temple of worship. Locals of Sakaiminato typically do not disturb the phoenix as the mythical bird is not 'allied' with the locals, mostly ignoring the locals. Suzaku is technically still 'alive' even when she is in her 'egg' form as she is able to sense her surroundings to see what is going on.
Sakaiminato Port
The back of Sakaiminato is its port, this is the only 'safe' way to enter Sakaiminato during its winter cycle as the frozen sea is partially melted to ensure ships are able to enter Sakaiminato through a singular path straight towards the dock. The port area is usually the safest part of the town as the demons that are able to traverse through water are not particularly powerful or large in quantity.
