Provided I could take all the medicine I needed along with me I would probably say either Ancient Egypt, The Roman Republic, or around 2000BC in the Levant.

Pretty good choices. I'd add ancient Greece in there too.

I couldn't handle the treatment of women in Ancient Greece, unless it was Sparta.
