Every 1000 years, Warship Island becomes the nesting ground for the "Sennenryu", a species of dragon whose bones are rumoured to be able to create an elixir that grants eternal life.

Whether or not these rumours are true is unknown. That has not stopped the World Nobles from sending out the 8th Marine Branch to hunt these creatures down however.

The World Nobles have always tried to hunt the Sennenryu for their rumoured prize of immortality, marines have been sent to the island to hunt them down despite seemly protest of the inhabitants of Warship Island. However, another force has set their sights upon the island as well. The Court of Owls has decreed that the island is to be rid of the marines, for the elixir of immortality is what they sought after in the future. Talon is given his target, Commodore Nelson Royale.

Taking a ship towards Warship Island in the North Blue after many weeks of sailing, the Assassin finally makes his way to the island’s shore towards the night. Dressed in a ninja-like garb, his equipment readied – the night has fallen and the mission has started. Tonight the marines will be losing a unit and its commodore. For Talon, this is merely a test to ensure the Court of Owls' training has paid off sufficiently, there will be various test before Fukuro would be officially considered as a proper Talon, this is only the first of several kinds.

The night was falling, leaving a trace of light over the ocean. The orange flicker caused the sea to look as if was on fire. From that flicker, a single ship sailed, finding a humble dock. There was a small town in the dock, with a trail leading to a much bigger city in the mountains. At the dock, there was one commercial ship finishing up for the day.

If the bounty hunter docked, he’d find no one came to his ship - they were packing up for the day. However, soon the dozen or so people in the dock looked distressed. In the distance, a bigger ship approached: a Marine ship.

The ship docked on the other side of the port, making the onlookers clear a path. About a dozen marines walked down from the ship. In the middle, clad in handcuffs, was a small blonde girl.

[Apis] “Let me go! I don’t know anything! My grandfather will make you pay! Let me go!”

The marines pushed her to shut her off. The onlookers looked away, letting them pass with nay a word.

The ship would approach upon one of the docks of the island, quietly dropping the anchor into the sea as the ship halts upon the wooden docks beside the small lighthouse. Talon arrived on Warship Island, unsure where his target lies, no one seems to approach his ship either. This allowed Talon to simply climbed up towards the top of his ship, particularly the crow’s nest as he observed the town first. People are seemly packing up and leaving the docks, but not before long they could be seen looking towards the sea for moments, as a larger ship arrived on the other side of the port. The distance is rather far – but people in a large group could be seen leaving the ship, on closer inspection it is likely a marine ship, even in the dark, the symbol of the World Government could be made the case on their sails.

Talon couldn’t see clearly from his distance, but if they are marines then his target is close by – yet Talon is inexperienced but cautious, without fully assessing the situation there’s no reason for him to do anything right now. He needs to find the Commodore first and look at his bodyguards’ strength. With a jump, Talon dived into the water, deep and far enough away from the shore to be quiet and undetected as he swims briskly towards the ship, with only the upper half of his head above water to keep track of the people leaving the ship and the direction they are heading. Should he spot Commodore Nelson amongst the group, he would not make changes to his plan of heading to the ship, Talon have the time for now – he just needed to choose his battle properly.

The marines marched through the dock, with the girl screaming. The newcomers looked away. From the rank and file, a man with an officer’s coat walked along it. There was one couple who was near the Marines, not turn8ng away. The man with the coat approached them.

With a gentle smile, the Lt. Commander spoke.

[Lt. Com. Hardy] “Please, take this for the damages to your dock. We only seek to ask her a few questions. We’d never hurt a child.”

Whether the man was truthful or not remained to be seen, but the couple took the money regardless. A bribe? Or a true token of gratitude? Regardless, not everyone felt the same way. As the line of marines made it to the end of the dock, a group of village kids, the same age as the prisoners, jumped at them. Their faces were painted, all holding brooms and the sort as weapons.

They began comically swinging the “weapons”, being easily deterred the the file of Marines. Apis looked in shock.

[Lt. Com. Hardy] “No, guys! Get away! Tell Grandpa to hide everyone!!”

While the kids continued to struggle, the marine ship was undermanned. They did not notice the man swimming towards it. There were only half a dozen men on board the large ship, with all of them looking at the spectacle below. A few marines had spread through the dock to establish a perimeter. One approached the only other ship in the dock with curiosity.

Talon continues to swim, despite the commotions happening by the docks it has no real significance to Talon as of now. The life of others as bystanders or spectators outside his target has no value to him. But what happened by the docks seems to benefit Talon as the commotions has drawn the attention of many, thus reducing the chances of being spotted whilst getting to the ship. Once he has reach the hull of the ship however Talon would start climbing carefully from the side facing out to the sea, as should the commotion is drawing everyone’s attention then his side would be a lot safer.

Should there be no one above him, Talon would peer quietly to watch the movements of the deck, if the coast is clear where no one could conceivably see him he would try to sneak aboard down into the decks, where the cargo hold for various equipment are likely stored. Talon wanted to get down for one particular reason, to find gunpowder and cannons. It is fairly obvious his intention is to destroy the ship and not only take out the ship personnel still aboard but also strand them on the island for the time being. While there are other ships that could use, without direct line of contact to the World Government, and that it is unlikely they are quick on their feet enough to quickly get on a non-marine ship – it will be enough of a time to slowly rid Nelson and his bodyguards.

That assumes of course that there is no one that could watch over him, thus why Talon chose to quietly peer onto the deck, his clothing is dark and blends quite well in the dark after all, so the Assassin is not a very obvious target to really identify quickly. Looking even by the top of the deck and the crow’s nest, are there any more guards?

The marines easily swatted the kids, who were left dumped in barrels of water. Apis was taken away, shouting all the way. Most of the Marines, including Lt. Commander Hardy, went through the town and into the small forest trail. The forest trail led to the mountain range. At the top was a small palace with a smaller town around it.

Only a few marines stayed behind, about half a dozen on the ship, and another half dozen in the dock. They never expected anyone to attack them in this small poor island.

[Marine] “Man! These children sure are rowdy! Can we just get what we came for and go? Nothing exciting ever happens in these missions!”

One of the Marines who were overlooking the dock spoke to his colleagues. They were a total of 5, oblivious and overconfident that nothing would happen. The 5th, as there were 6 on the ship, was down below in the storage dock. Talon would find entry to the ship was easy. When he arrived in the storage dock, he’s quickly find the gunpowder and cannons. However, footsteps approached.

The sole Marine came down, approaching the door, entry to the large oval-shaped lit room.

Meanwhile, another Marine in the dock had seen Talon’s ship (see last post). He’s inspect it from afar before boarding it, calling out to see if anyone was home. He’s intend to search it for safety reasons.

Talon would stealthily look around the storage hold, indeed it holds the answer of what he is looking for. However, before he could do anything further footsteps would approach quickly prompting the assassin to quickly assess the area around him, noticing a dark corner behind him as is the entrance into the storage hold – Talon moved quickly to hide, using his dark clothing to blend into the shadows. Talon would only withdraw a single throwing knife from the knives holster from his chest and kept it hidden as he would watch. Should the marine walked past him, Talon would simply withdraw his dagger quietly as well on the other hand and instead follow the footsteps rhythm of the marine and tries to sneak up on him.

Light-footed but not completely noiseless, he hopes by following the same steps of the marine he could mask his own footstep noises by the louder steps the marine is producing. His dagger stood by the ready, he could potentially take out of the marine right now and work on his plan. But he needs to make sure he didn’t miss anything that could easily result in a different outcome. Allowing the marine to approach the door he wanted the marine to open the door, and if there is someone behind he could quickly dispatch both – theoretically if he wasn’t detection the whole time.

As for his ship, the marine would board the ship after an inspection is done by him. Nothing out of the ordinary, it is a normal ship after all. He would call out, immediately met with one of the crew members to greet him as the crew member would ask for his reason aboard the ship. While it is Talon’s ship, the ship itself has nothing to hide – no weapons, nothing. It is effective disguised as a simply a merchant-like ship with only one singular assassin aboard. The crew only have to act in that way as normally as possible.

The marine walked past Talon. The man stealth plan and the marines’ focus on his mission made him unaware. The marine approached the lock door. A key was used to open the deadbolt lock hanging on the door. The room was dark inside, but-for a single lamp that was overhead a small manger. Wrapped in sheets, the light‘s heat’s directly on it, was a large spiraled egg.

The egg had its own energy, warm to the touch, measuring 3 feet. The Marine came in, checked it temperature, and took a step back. The Marine would then turn around, soon to lock the door again.

[Marines] “Show’s over! Come on, man! Let’s get things ready for when Commodore comes back.”

With the kids defeated, the show was indeed over. The group of half a dozen Marines on the deck begun walking down to the cargo hold, where Talon and the other Marine were, likely for the egg.

Talon’s ship was in scrutiny. However, it came back as nothing as a merchant ship. The single Marine conversed with the crewmembers. However, the Marine would ask them to stay inside the ship until after the “operation“ was over. The Marine relayed his findings over the den den mushi, to the watch den den mushi the other Marines had, and returned, keeping a watchful eye on the merchant ship.

Talon followed the marine carefully as he opened the door – and inside this door reveals a mystery. An egg in what seems to be an incubator of sorts, wrapped around with sheets with only light directly shone on top of it. The marine would check the state of the egg before he would step back. But before he would turn around, his neck met with a sharp, cold hard steel as Talon immediately thrust his dagger into the marine’s neck and immediately retract the dagger from the neck. Presumably with such a fatal injury, the marine would quietly bleed out as blood would quickly spill from his neck and into the room, turning into a pool of blood.

THUD THUD THUD

More footsteps could be heard from a close proximity, there are more coming down. Quickly leaving the room, ensuring that he does not step onto the pool of blood as the door remains slightly ajar. Talon returns to storage hold, this time he would climb onto ceiling of the storage hold and cling onto the pillar supports. A trap for the marines coming down. With the door and light leaving slightly traces of light to seep into the storage hold, this would rouse attention from the marines with the shadow of the body, but it would take them just a little closer to actually see what has truly happened to the other marine. Even if some of them were to get help or call for help, it is still alright. Throwing knives were removed from the holsters, with multiple targets requiring multiple projectiles, Talon would only wait as they approached closer. Once they are right underneath him, where they should be able to see the dead marine’s body, Talon would strike.

The spiraled egg was warm, with a fiery aura emanating from it. The Marine took a step back to the door. Suddenly, his body hit the floor. The blade cut the esophagus, preventing him from screaming. Instead, the running blood would quietly run. The hunter moved from the door as steps thudded.

Suddenly, shouting came from the Marines. They noticed the door ajar from the stairs; it was supposed to always be closed. The leader of the group would reach his arm and turn the lights on, lighting the cargo hold completely. Rifles up.

[Marine] “Watch for small enclosures! These kids may be hiding in any corner! They’re still after the egg! The ones outside must be a distraction!”

The Marines drew their rifles. They scoped out the cargo room, dispersing. They were well trained, they moved in an oval to eliminate weak-spots, soon to look up. One of them approached the door ajar, his eyes wide and communicating to the group.
[Marine Leader] “Man down! Shoot to kill!”

Perhaps a mistake that Talon has made was to leave the door open, when the group of marines arrived – they did not truly arrive at the location that Talon hoped for. Instead they would be alerted and the lights were turned on, even surprising Talon for a bit as lights caused Talon to even be slightly be blinded for a mere moment. But thankfully none of them saw Talon at the top, but with the advantage of the darkness that Talon could’ve used was completely useless and the element of surprise is no longer his best weapon to use. However, Talon would pay attention to the lights, are they lightbulbs in the sense that it could be destroyed? Thus rendering the storage hold back into darkness.

Soon Talon would retrieve more knives from his holsters, now both hands armed with knives as he watched the situation, his mind replaying the situation over and over. If the lights came from only several lightbulbs which the room is only lighted up by, then Talon would try to destroy the lights, however if the light source has many of them, then there is no point in destroying them. Talon didn’t have much time; he needs to act before he lost the element of surprise. Immediately throwing seven knives towards each of the marines, one of which is even aimed at the leader of the marines as Talon aimed for the fatal spots; head, neck, heart.

The last three are left, should there be little lightbulbs, then Talon would throw one of which to the lightbulb above him as he lands on the ground from the top, aiming to make it difficult for the marines to attack with their rifles for it may cause friendly fire. Talon would withdraw his short blade and went to target those that are alive, especially those whom are uninjured by the knives, specifically aiming for the leader first if he is still alive.

[OCC: Post your stats!]

The hunter looked to keep advantage, searching for the lights. They were as expected, hanging bulbs with bars. He’s find it hard to get the angle on ALL of them, as they were numerous. Instead, he’d have a clear line towards the seven, throwing knives towards them.

Four of the seven fell. Two of them had the angle to react in time, doing a tuck and roll. The leader, having went inside the egg room and seen the man down, was outside of range. In fact, the leader took further measures as his men fell; he closed the door, locking it from the inside; protecting the egg.

[Marine] “We need back-up! H-H-Hey, he’s up there!!”

The angle of the knives gave Talon away. The two marines left outside of the room, in the cargo hold, looked up. They were around 5 meters from each other, aiming at the sky and shooting a barrage of bullets. They flooded the ceiling with bullets, aiming to shoot the attacker down.

Knives were thrown at a good number of marines, but out of the seven knives thrown only four of them landed their targets, taking out a small group immediately. But the remaining two managed to move away whilst the in-charge managed to get into the room. This prompts the other marines to call for help as they looked up and fired their guns, thankfully Talon has already dropped immediately upon throwing the knives, this coupled with the lightbulbs acting as the source of light would mean that Talon have already destroyed the lightbulb directly above him, casting him in darkness temporarily. Bullets would continue to fire, but in the darkness they might have to stop the firing to prevent possible friendly fire if they are not the only two left. Even with other lights around them, looking into a dark spot from a lit spot is difficult but conversely it is easy on the reverse.

Crouching himself even lower, Talon decreases the possibility of getting short as the marines are most likely to shoot straight then diagonally towards the floor and threw the last two knives towards the firing marines based on their last known location based upon the flash of gun muzzle, should they be similarly covered in darkness from the destroyed lightbulb. Once he threw them, Talon would crawl away quickly towards the side, picking up a rifle on the ground in the process should his hand scuff onto one in the process. Assuming that the only two marines left in the storage hold, and if they are still unharmed – Talon would get to the lit up spot of the storage hold and get up, aiming to use the rifle to shoot back at the marines until he would get to the nearest cover.

The hunter made use of the darkness to cast a cloak to his position. The Marine stopped firing, trying to search out the man in the darkness. A grunt signified one of them falling to the subsequent sneak attack. One down. The second rolled, evading the knife, using his friend’s shriek as a bouncing board to which react from.

Talon picked up a rifle, now draped in light. The cocking of the rifle made an obvious sound, and the remaining Marine turned to point at Talon,

[Marine] “I‘ll take you to hell with me, YOU BASTARD!”

Both Talon and the Marine shot one after another, a split second difference. Talon shot first, and the Marine a second later. The last Marine in the cargo room fell, slowly bleeding out. However, he was able to shoot as he got hit, his bullet slightly misdirected as a result, now aiming at Talon’s right shoulder.

The Marine inside the locked room heard the gunfire, now assuming these were no children. They had already called for back-up, but it would take time, The leader quickly came up with a plan after he called for back-up: they had to protect the egg.

The marines were all but dispatched, but at the very last member of the patrol group, a small mistake was made by Talon, resulting in a shot fired by the marine towards his right shoulder at the last second, piercing into his body – injuring the assassin in the meantime. Hurt but no winching was made, it was incredibly painful yet the Assassin bit his lips and endured the pain. With the last of marines dead except the one in the room, Talon now has to prepare – likely with reinforcements heading here, Talon would quickly reload the rifle he is using and get to work.

Talon's Durability: 41-60: 3. Large Building Level vs 21-40: 2. Street Level
Result: DPR 1 below dura: somewhat effective

Gun powders were removed from the storage hold and litters the storage hold; knives were picked up once more by the Assassin to reuse them later on and cannons were simply repositioned to aim towards the ceiling and the deck itself, one singular cannon ball are loaded quickly. Once the entire storage hold is set up to essentially explode with a misfire – Talon would prepare for his escape, a small hole was cut off from the storage hold, allowing Talon to escape from storage hold and into the sea if needed, the stolen rifle would be used for the purpose to destroy the ship and its inhabitants. Using his knives, Talon would destroy the remaining light bulbs that would obscure the fact that the storage hold is being used to destroy the ship, with the light source seemly tall enough to prevent a fire that would trigger the explosion.

The only issue left was the egg room, and Talon isn’t sure if he had the time. But if even if the marine were to shoot straight he wouldn’t be able to trigger the gun powders as they are on the floor instead. Not willing to risk his life to open the door and be caught in the explosion, Talon would instead take out a notepad and a pen, scribbling onto the notepad before slipping a note under the door which if the man would take it upon to read assuming there’s still light in the room:

‘Come out or sink with the ship.’

Moving away from the door almost immediately, Talon positioned himself near the escape hole and waited for the marine to be flushed out of the room, or for more reinforcements to come. Hopefully, his target would also appear onto the deck soon enough to be caught in the explosion. Should the marine leader come out, assassinating him would be easily enough.

The hunter survived with wounds, but victory was his. The man quickly came up with a plan, making a plan to blow up the ship. The marine leader had barricaded himself, protecting the egg. By design or ignorance, the Marine blasted the door open, shooting mindlessly in sheer fear.

BOOM!

The explosion took the ship as planned. The reinforcements were boarding the ship and were blown to the water, incapacitated. The fire and plume of smoke could be seen for miles. Floating in the sea near the wreckage, was the egg. However, the egg was cracked. The hunter had succeeded, but had he destroyed hopes for the egg to hatch properly?

[Marine] “C-C-Commodore Royale, report!”

The lone Marine survivor was the one who had checked up on Talon’s ship. He stayed in the shadows, fearing what he deemed as a direct attack and no accident. Fourtunately for Talon, some marine forces took the girl.

Floating near the egg were some documents, partially burned and wet. However, some pictures could be made out; actual dragons.

Unluckily for Talon, his classic pass-note-under-the-door technique did not work, as by the time Talon is ready to put his plan into action, the marine would instead come out on his own – mindlessly shooting around which Talon would be forced to instead get away from the ship, even though the marine is mindlessly shooting, ultimately the fire powder is on the ground which makes it not an instant detonation by the marine, this allowed Talon to jumped off the ship from the hole he made – but as soon as he did, the explosion went off and blast Talon into the water, it wasn’t point-blank and the wooden hull would softened the blow, though in exchange the parts of the wood would hit him instead.

The explosion triggered, and by the time Talon would surface back onto the sea, he would see the marine ship blown, now engulfed in flames in regards to whatever part of the ship may still survived. Beside him was the egg, now cracked from what he remembered in the room. But the egg isn’t a concern for Talon, at least as far as his job is concerned. Looking around, Talon would look for Commodore Royale, to see if perhaps confirms his kill onto his target but doesn’t waste too much time, as the gunshot and the explosion combined definitely took a toll onto the Assassin’s body, the cold sea water would only dampen the effects of the explosion.

Whether or not he could confirm his target is dead, Talon would swim with the dragon egg, the pictures beside it would likely indicate it to be a creature of sorts, a dragon. But Talon didn’t seem to care, only to bring it ashore. Only Talon would reach the shore, he would place the egg onto the beach for the time being and try to look to enter the residential area close to the beach, with places for him to hide and catch a breath whilst looking to see if there are any more marine forces that wasn’t on the ship on the time of the explosion.
