Located atop the massive elephant known as Zunisha lies the country of Zou. An ancient place, it can never be found in the same place twice, as Zunisha was sentenced to wander the sea endlessly, surrounded by the mists. Inhabiting this country is the mink tribe, half animal, half human creatures, fierce fighters of any age.

Zou Defense #1 @Ichimonji

It was as nice a day as any in the Mokomo Dukedom. The sun shone from high up above, bathing the city and jungle in sunlight, reflecting off of the wet foliage that bathed in ocean water about half an hour ago. Zunisha's Eruption Rain brought refreshment and food, and many of the minks were currently out checking traps or returning from fishing in the salty streams. The clouds that hung around the small country were thinner than usual, and while some may see it as a blessing, it worried Inuarashi. The dog mink sat in his usual resting spot, on the terrace in the center building of the Dukedom, as was his right as a duke. From his vantage he could keep an eye on what happened below and in the distance.

It wasn't just the clouds that worried him. He had had a bad feeling all day, as if something was coming terrible was about to happen. Yet it was only that, a feeling. He couldn't act upon something as silly as that. What would he even do? His thoughts were disturbed as someone landed on the ledge of his balcony, light as a feather, no sound as she touched down. A sweet smile spread across her mouth as her eyes met Inuarashi's
Look what I caught! Carrot proclaimed cheerily, heaving with her entire body, slamming a fish almost as big as herself down on the wooden table in front of the duke. It sent several things that had stood in its place flying, and spraying the duke with a salty mist. The other mink didn't seem to notice, swelling with pride. Inuarashi couldn't help but smile back, then looking down on the fish. This is a great catch little one. Have you become a carnivore, Carrot? Or is it a gift for me?

No, silly!
She giggled. I'm gonna trade it for carrots in the kitchen! I bet I'll get at least ten for this fish, maybe even fifteen! She jumped down, grabbing a hold of the tail of the fish and pulling it off the table and over her shoulder again. Swaying with the weight for a second, she steadied herself, then looked straight into the duke's face, dropping her smile momentarily. Is there something wrong?

Surprisingly perceptive as always, that little girl. The duke smiled, hoping his eyes wouldn't betray him. No, I was just lost in thought. It was nothing really. It wasn't a lie. He really had no idea why he was feeling like this. And he couldn't put something like this on the young girl anyway, She would probably overreact. She seemed to accept the explanation, or lack thereof. Carrots were more important at the moment. Her smile returned as she rushed inside, taking the short cut down to the kitchen. Once she had left the duke sighed, whether in worry or relief he wasn't sure. Both perhaps.

Not long after did Giovanni enter, announcing his presence by knocking on the outer door. He came with the reports. An average catch today, nothing out of the ordinary. The zebra mink was short on words as usual, bowing his respect to the duke as he prepared to leave after his report. He was half way to the door when Inuarashi decided.
Giovanni. The musketeer spun on his feet, turning to face the duke, who beckoned him closer with a wave of his hand. I need you and the other two to keep an eye on the outer perimeter for the rest of the day. I have... I sense something. Could be nothing, so I don't want you to tell anyone else, it will only cause unneeded grief and worry among the others. You know what to do if anything happens. Giovanni nodded, bowing before the duke before exiting as he had before.

The duke remained on his balcony for the remainder of the day, even as the sun fell low. It was then that Shishilian arrived, landing in the same spot that Carrot had. However where the rabbit mink had been graceful and qiuet, the lion mink could be heard long before he landed, somersaulting off a nearby ledge, landing with grandeur and chest puffed.
All remains quiet, sire, nothing to report out of the ordinary! The duke nodded, thinking for a moment, looking as the sun started to fade below the horizon. He still blamed his old friend for the failures that had led to the death of their mastery, but he knew when to put aside his differences. Besides, tonight the moon would shine down upon them with its full glory. He turned back to the other mink. I need you to give him a message.

Elsewhere in the dukedom another great beast stirred. A disgruntled groan announced that Duke Nekomamushi had awoken. He sat up, looking around, the hairs on his neck standing up fully. Somethin's wrong. He growled.

I hope you dont mind, i figured since they're half animals they'd have stronger senses and would know that something was wrong

Zou Invasion Arc - #1
(@Larsi)
At Sea
The once tranquil sea shook in place, as if it was trembling. Parting the waters was an ominous seemingly lifeless ship, sailing amisdt the cold fog that hung to life around the vessel. Sails torn, decaying wood, Creaking mast, cannons rusted, and a giant Scythe in the bow called home to The Styx. An symbol of terror emblazoned on the crow’s nest; La Spada Pirates. Cold, calculating, and decisive, the Styx sailed on. The air surrounding the bridge would cool, whether brought from the Underworld or the seas' reaction to its future, one could not say.

The challenge of the old Generation at Wano. First came the biggest jailbreak of Impel Down. Then the death of Shichubukai Moria. Lastly, Shichibukai Boa Hancock was forced to join in secret. All means to an end. Means to eliminate the Yonko Big Mom. To that end, the Spada Pirates sailed towards Whole Cake Island. With nothing but a hunch, the Grim sailed the New World. Before they reached their general destination, fate stood in the way.

Through the mist that hung around the waters, a figure appeared, imposing and stalwart.

[Charon] "W-W-W-W-what is that?! This was not on the path to Whole Cake Island!"

The deck was now filled with creatures of the night, all peering out into the distance, to the being that moved slowly through the distance. In the bow of the ship, a single figure stood stoically. Black short fur covered Egyptian attire and a regal headrest. The figure's earrings rung as the wind forced them to click against each other. A Mink who had no memory of his past, of his homeland. Yet, today, he was drawn to the bow, a feeling that he could not shake. A feeling of familiarity he had not felt since he was last amidst the graveyard he once called home. Enter Anubis "The Jackal".

The infamous Flagship of the Spada Pirates, the Styx, slowly approached the humongous elephant. From behind Anubis, through the silence of the shocked crew members, came the echoing of footsteps. With it, the air are colder, dammed. A thick voice rolled off rotting tongues, with an accent and sarcasm.

[La Spada] "Kuhahahahaha... For yah to show intrigue, man dear. How delicious! Tell mah’, what do you see?"
[Anubis] "Shadows of old. The elephant... it calls me."

The Mink looked up. Something within him fractured. The Undertaker had been searching for purpose, and now, it was the first time his body was drawn to one. Coming up behind him, the figure with the accent maliciously smelled his neck. The light showed the figure. Pearly white skeleton traced the voluptuous frame and shaved skeletal horns. Chunks of face are the only flesh that remains, ever rotting, slowly eaten by a small leech. With terrible pearly yellow slit eyes, and red luscious lips, only a deep scar over her face horizontally showed the past life. The left arm is replaced by Aegis’ Hook and a boney demon tail trails behind. Over her body is a black cloak, hiding the mafia-style attire, hiding the madness within.

Enter the Grim. Enter La Spada.

[La Spada] "Make port next to tha' elephant. I smell Death."

Zou Defense #2 @Ichimonji

Nekomamushi strode from his room, grabbing his trusty spear on the way. His attendants saw him rise and rushed to him, one of them carrying a tray of food. Before they could open their mouths to speak, he grabbed a handful of food off the plate while walking, exiting out into the open air. His room was on the very top of one of the looming buildings in the dukedom, and now he looked out over the trees and buildings that lay before him, his vantage point on the terrace was great. With graceful movements he hopped onto the ledge, partially hanging over the fall below. Without a care in the world, he turned to face his attendants before they spoke again.
Summon the Guardians, have them meet me, and see to that the room in the Whale is sealed, and no guards visible from the outside.

Without waiting for a response, the great cat mink opened up his mouth and threw his handful of assorted food into his mouth, then leapt backwards, placing his spear on his back. As he chewed it would seem as if the building grew rapidly in front of him. Suddenly trees grew along it. Instinctively he twisted his body, turning around so that his paws faced downwards, towards the ground he was rapidly approaching. Amazingly, despite both his size and the height of his fall, he landed almost softly on the ground, though it did shock several nearby minks. As he rose to his back legs again and they realized who he was, many of them bowed, while others probably wondered why he would do something so rash. He paid barely paid them any mind, striding forward, while a couple of them broke off, approaching the duke. They were of course guardians, and before they could question him what was going on, he simply gestured for them to follow.

And so it was that a few minutes, walking through the forest, leading a short retinue of loyal minks that Nekomamushi saw a figure jumping from tree to tree, needless moves that probably exerted the other mink far more than necessary, given how extravagant each movement was. With a flourish and grace that belonged in a circus, Shishilian landed next to Nekomamushi, bowing yet at the same time moving to keep up with the duke.
Duke Nekomamushi, I bring word from Lord Inuarashi, the difference in title could be construed as an insult, putting the dog above the cat, but it was likely due to the other being his superior, so Nekomamushi ignored it. He says he has felt something coming, something dangerous, though he does not know what it is. He had me and the others of the Three scout the island today, but none of us could find anything. He-

Does the old mutt think I'm an idiot?
Nekomamushi broke off the lion mink. Stopping his walk and turning to face the smaller creature, he continued speaking, seeing Shishilian wanted to protest though whether it was the insult to the duke or the interruption he did not know or care. Unless you have something to tell me I don't already know, you can head back to your master and tell him that Zou will be safe and he can sleep like the baby he is. Dismissed.

Shishilian, probably knowing better than to speak again, swung his wide brimmed hat off his head and bowed deeply once more, before disappearing upwards into the foliage again. Shaking his head, the duke simply moved on, continuing on the path he had been on before. Soon more Guardians fell in with him. He saw Blackback and Roddy, with Keith laughing as he dangled from the horns of the latter. Milky and old man Monji had come too. Good. Now, the only one missing was-

So what's the big deal? What has you two so riled up? Pedro asked, walking on his right side as if he had been there since the beginning. Good, all here. If Shishilian was loud and boisterous, the jaguar mink was silence itself when he needed to be. Yet it was a testament to how shaken Nekomamushi was that he hadn't sensed him. But there was very few as loyal as his man, and he found himself smiling as his eyes fell on the smaller feline mink.

There's something coming, though I don't know who or what. But I want to be prepared. Ah, here we are! He stopped in fromt of a humongous tree. Though it paled in comparison to the Whale, this tree was one of the largest in the Whale Forest, its middle branches hanging over the tops of nearby trees. It also sat much more central on the back of Zunisha. He turned to face the small crowd before them. I need all of you to scout Zunishas legs. A squad of 10 at each leg, with a smaller force patrolling inbetween. Should you encounter any outsiders, signal for me and refuse them access to Zou until I arrive. I will wait here in the tree, awaiting your signal. If you see any signal from the other location, leave a few to keep watch and send the rest to assist. He pulled out 8 flare guns, handing them out to the different squad leaders, before they all saluted him and headed off in separate directions. And so, left alone he pulled a hood over his head to leave his eyes in darkness as he climbed up the ancient tree, while the moon started to climb into view, though he knew better than to look at it right now.

Climbing Zuneshia
The Styx creaked as it swayed from side-to-side. A ship that looked dead, lifeless, barren, as was the souls of the ones inside. The flag of the Spada Pirates was emblazoned at the top, along with that infamous mist that accompanied the ship. Whether it came from the water, or La Spada's very soul, cold, no one could know. As the ship approached the shadow, Anubis stood with his arms crossed, the Egyptian headrest wore clanging softly in the wind. Deep in thought. Had he seen the place before, or had his mind run amok? The dog mink did not sense any danger - he was not ad advanced, but felt an equal chill, and this one not from The Grim.

The ship stopped short a kilometer from the massive leg. From it, a small rowboat was downed, these manned by Charon, as one would in River Styx. The elephant now clearly can into view as the ship grew closer. Zunesha's body was damaged; its ears torn, its eyes sunken into its skull, and its skin frail and weak. The legs were unnaturally very tall, walking on the sea like a kiddie pool. A pedantic existence even by La Spada's standards. The Empress' eyes, her silhouette ever ghastly, glowed yellow as they got closer. Could this possibly be? As a Historian, the pages of history was wrought with a land away from others for a thousand years. A land of others. A land of old.

Orders came with a twisted tongue of sarcasm.

[La Spada] "The top. Any who is left behind, be rot."
[Anubis] "Hmphhh...."

The Grim gave orders and stood on top of the rickety small boat, causing it to gently sway. With a quick and acrobatic leap, the woman launched herself to Zunesha's leg. Upon reaching, The Grim twisted and landed with her feet against the eg, causing her body to be horizontal, ready to fall. A green light glowed in her feet, causing the Chill of the Underworld to freeze her bone feet to the rough skin. Like so, La Spada walked upwards nonchalantly, her coat draping downward, revealing her boney body below the mafia-style attire. Indeed, weighing next to nothing, all bones, her body structure and abilities gave her a way to climb that nobody else could imitate.

Anubis, meanwhile, trailed La Spada. He climbed the hard way. Luckily, his claws gave him grapple on the rough skin. The skin was so jagged, it acted as support. The claws so small in comparison to the Titan that walked on the sea, the effects likely would be not even a tickle. The climb. The duo climbed, with The Grim's heightened Awareness present on the strange land.

The infamous La Spada, whether arrogance or confidence, led the climb.

Across the jungle floor, light as a feather upon the wind Pedro dashed. His feet made no sound as they launched him forward, his arms left no mark on the trees he used to catapult himself forward. The foliage barely stirred as he stepped through it, the birds resting in the trees above never stirred. Pedro had always found himself able to move and weave so that he could sneak to any location. It just came natural to him, no extra effort expended to move undetected.

Behind him his fellow minks were far from quiet as they rushed to their location. Pedro made it there several minutes before the others arrive, though he could hear them clearly all along. Finallly Roddy broke free from the forest line, his horns breaking off several branches of the nearby trees. Behind him a cluster of other minks he didn't know the name of followed, eagerness and wariness spread across their faces.
You stay here Roddy, hold the line and look for enemies. He tossed one of his two flares to the bull mink, before pointing towards a deer mink, one of the fastest among the group. You, come with me, we're gonna patrol from here to the back leg.

Nervous as her animal, she stepped forward, nodding to Pedro. Without another word the jaguar mink took off running, hearing the other mink leaving the larger group behind and following along the edge of the great elephant. Pedro preferred to work alone, but if he was somehow ambushed, who would alert the others? He couldn't take that risk.

Fast as they moved, the run across the elephant didn't take too long. They made it to the back leg where Monji sat calmly, surrounded by a gaggle of anxious and bored minks. The old monkey mink smiled as he saw the two of them approach.
All good here I see? Pedro asked, only waiting long enough for the other to nod, before turning around again. The deer mink followed behind, not complaining, but he could tell the constant back and forth was taxing on her. So when he made it back to Roddy's group, he switched her out for another mink, an otter mink. This went on for a while before at one moment when he neared the end of one run he saw something on Zunisha's leg.

Stopping in his tracks the jaguar mink leaned over the edge, looking down. Yes, those were definitively some humanoids climbing the leg. One of them was even walking as if the leg was a flat surface, its clothing draping below them as they made their ascent. With a swift move he whipped out the flare, aimed it towards the air above the leg, and firing. Then, he got up and started running again, faster now.

In the great tree Nekomamushi stirred, his massive frame dropping off the treebranch, falling to the ground. Without a sound he landed, leaping forwards towards the source of the flare, his dash far less caring than that of Pedro.

can you just state which leg you're climbing? I left it vague which one pedro saw you climbing. Could be either side and both front or back.

The Styx followed the giant silhouette from behind, shrouded by mist. While it bore weapons that Pluton would respect, nothing that came close on pretending to damage a being that walked on water itself. Charon’s small rowboat trailed the right back leg, where the trio had started to climb. It was the only logical choice, for blitzing the front legs would make the back legs an easy threat to trample them as the elephant went on.

The one infamous as La Spada and her calamity, Anubis, climbed. In the distance, a mink appeared. Out of view but not out of mind. La Spada had her awareness at her side, and the woman propped up like a tick. La Spada's eyes widened, those yellow-slitterrible eyes glowing with soul and madness. The moment it appeared, La Spada pushed off, taking into a full sprint towards the woman.
[Anubis] "Wait, Captain! Hold on!! We do know wh-"

The unknown Anubis screamed behind her captain. He picked up the pace as well, but given he was climbing, he'd soon be left behind. The man clamored to his captain to stop - for they knew nothing about the place, at least not consciously. Something told Anubis this was not a land to sandbag. The man climbed with more fervor than ever, ever in thought as to what he would find, for his skin crawled.

The flare went up - it was too fast. Yet, La Spada aimed to catch the interloper as she made her way up to the top parts of the right back leg. Excitement would run through her veins, if she had any. Stories from history books plagued her. From a walking shadow to this...

While Pedro was at a good angle to see the guests climb Zunisha's leg, it also meant he was a good distance away. It would still take a few minutes for him to reach the hip of the towering, ancient creature. He could hear the otter mink trying its best to keep up with him, but he was falling further and further behind, far more impeded by the foliage than the jaguar mink. Pedro only hoped he wasn't too late.

Monji looked upwards, seeing the glow of the flare dance upwards into the dark night, illuminating the air directly above him and bathing him in red light. Around him, the other minks started scrambling, picking up their weapons and trying to figure out where to go.
Calm, young ones, he spoke in a hushed tone, reigning in the chaos quickly. The other minks stood alert, waiting for him to continue. Settle into position, ready in case of attack. Crescent formation around the hip. I will investigate.

Some of them looked like they wanted to protest, but the old monkey mink simply smiled while gesturing at the area around them, waiting for them to array themselves. Then, with grace that belied his age he jumped forward, placing himself at the edge of Zunisha, peering over the edge. Speaking clearly and slowly, he directed his words at the unknown group approaching from below, his color of observation reaching out in a bubble around him, seeking out any suspicious movements from below.
Identify yourselves and state your business!

The climb was singular. La Spada had sensed beings, and gone ahead with bloodlust. Her speed and abilities left Anubis behind, who climbed at a quicker pace, but easily trailing. The two had been serrated - the norm in the Spada Pirates. The captain, The Grim, dashed upwards. On approach, the bubble of observation around her felt many in a formation, and one in front. Now coming into view was an elderly monkey mink with long, white eyebrows and a mustache. The being was much like Anubis, a race even La Spada had seldom seen before. Was this really the place?

Suddenly, the monkeyman screamed over the great wind that blew against the decaying skin of the Great Zuneshia. There was an immediate reply, with a tint of sarcasm. Not clear enough to be obvious, but enough to feel something off.

[La Spada] "Who, little old me? Why, don't be alarmed. I'm just ah' old traveler who ha' shipwrecked. P-p-please, HELP!"

The woman raised her hands up in an apparent way to communicate peace. However, she did not stop. The Grim did not stop walking. As she grew closer, they'd see her likeness, a skeleton in a mafia-style attire, with yellow-slit eyes in the darkness. Perhaps they would recognize her: Isis La spade, bountied at 2,005,625,000. Orperhaps this country, like Wano, was too closed off to the world. La Spada's killing intent had disappeared, a move for her farce.

The woman kept approaching, before asking a question with many implications. A question born out of her relationship with Anubis and her vast Historian knowledge.

[La Spada] "Tell me, old man... is this where the humanoid furry creatures come from?"

[La Spada] "Who, little old me? Why, don't be alarmed. I'm just ah' old traveler who ha' shipwrecked. P-p-please, HELP!"
Monji heard the words from below, and although he heard a hint of sarcasm from them, he kept a calm composure. Yet those that remained in the back shuffled nervously, so he raised a hand to gesture for them to calm down. Of course. We will of course help anyone who fell victim to a shipwreck. Monji of course didn't mention the obvious, that there was never land near Zunisha to shipwreck on, and the devastation an elephant leg caused was far beyond a usual shipwreck.

It was so that he stood there a few moments later, waiting patiently with arms folded behind his back, that La Spada crested the surface, her ominous being coming into view. He barely paid any heed to the whispers that started from the other minks behind him, because unlike most other minks, Monji read the newspapers when they found their way to Zou. And although the skeletal visage that rose up before him was a terrifying look to behold, it was nothing compared to the actions of La Spada herself. Although he hadn't memorized her bounty, he recognized her were familiar with several of her actions. Yet he kept his knowledge to himself.

[La Spada] "Tell me, old man... is this where the humanoid furry creatures come from?"
He felt himself brought back to the present, managing a smile at the words, his arms unclenching and gesturing outwards. Well, you can see as much. However, this is a peaceful nation, I would request that you give over your weapons. Monji spoke with what he hoped was a convincing voice and disarming smile.

La Spada had climbed up, close enough to the men thatchy could see each other and hear each other. Climbing upwards as she walked, the Empress bluffed her way through.... or at least used her infamos sarcasm. There was an old monkey leading the pack, perhaps wise, or perhaps foolish. The old monkey took her representation they had shipwrecked. Weapons first.

La Spada’s ghastly body came fully into view upon that request. There was a moment of silence, before she took out the three swords on her hip.

[La Spada] "Of course. Why mah’ this dear old soul can’t bear the thought of violence, yah’ know.”

The woman approached, placing her swords upwards, towards the old man. There were night invisible strings from the pommel to the butt of the swords, as a violin would have. Upon nearing 10 meters from Monji and others, the woman sarcastically said there needed to be music to commemorate their meeting, their peace treaty. With a gentle strum of the strings, music filled the air. A resounding music with strong will, loud, and amplified with soul power and invisible haki. An “invisible” attack with invisible haki.

Before La Spada was close enough for the transfer, music came to Monji and the minks directly behind them, in the for, of soundwaves. Bamboozled.

[La Spada] Death Metal!!!!

Attack: 81-100: 3. Large Building Level +2 (B Rank) +1 (invisible haki) = 6. City Level

Death Metal: A piece of music with strong will, typically loud music expressing suffering and evil. An attack in the form of sound waves! Nearly inescapable. Destructive potency scales off of musicianship. AoE is 20 meters (65 feet).
Requirement: 81 musicianship
DPS: 5 meters = A, 10 meters = B, 15 meters = C, 20 meters = D

For a moment Monji thought the stranger might actually not be a threat, regardless of their appearance and what they news told about her. Maybe it was simply propaganda? His thoughts were cut off as she spoke of music, and her hsnds moved before her as if playing a string instrument. Instinctively the old mink channelled Electro through his palms, holding them up before him. At the same time he opened his mouth to speak a warning to his comrades, but it was too late.

Although they were near the edge of Zunishas body, and it was a wind and waterswept area, still small shrubs grew here. And it was only thanks to that that Monji was able to save himself. It was too late for the others. He saw the little plants be blasted down in front of the pirate, in a motion that rapidly expanded outwards away from her. With arms that sparked in the night he shot his hands forward in what would usually be used as an attack(B-rank = city block, 2 below, stronger attack loses 3 dpr).

The shockwave hit, and although his attack was up in time, what struck him was far stronger, bearing down on him and sending him flying backwards. A split second later it struck the rest of the minks, sending them too flying, with even greater force than what had struck Monji. He was sent flying backwards crashing into a tree near the edge of the forest. He felt blood trickling down his skull, and when he coughed, red sprayed from his mouth. His vision swam slightly, but he closed his eyes and reopened them, clearing his sight. Around him he saw several minks, many of their bodies twisted unnaturally and lay unmoving. Some of them moved, but didnt rise.

Monji pushed himself to his feet, his arms screaming in pain. Groaning, he straightened himself, facing towards where Spada had stood at the moment of the attack, with sparks once again emanating from his hands. He had lived a long and good life, he admitted to himself. He would delay her as much as possible. And so he started walking back towards his foe, favoring his left leg.

A bit confused from your description but the attack travels outwards from you? Thats the assumption I'm going off of with this post, let me know if i need to change it

Zuneshia Hip
The invasion had begun. Through trick and gambit, The Grim played Death Metal, sending out shockwaves that sought the minks. Man fell, but the old one knew better. Seeing through her ploy, the old one survived. Wounded, but not out, the one monkey Monji moved with his better leg. He would do his duty. He would defend Zunesha. With his life, he would stall the invader as much as he could. To this, La Spada looked disconcerted, her head sideways. So much benevolence - it made her sick. Deep on her soul, this man's actions plucked a string. How disgusting being honorable.

La Spada chuckled lowly. Her hand dipped into her Sandai Kitetsu, the weakest of the three, and licked her lips. Her hair hung in a free-fall due to her side posture. Yet, with her newfound interest, she pushed off, allowing her cloak to billow behind her and reveal more of her mafia-style tight attire. The woman's eyes glowed yellow, slit like a snake, with an aura of sharp killing intent. Intent to drink the world dry, and the one who dared being honorable in her presence. The very air became cold, as if mimicking the woman's soul.

La Spada raised her blade as she approached.

[La Spada] "A hostage, the norm. But yeh' soul... it stinks of benevolence! How dare yah' strut such an aura around me! Today, you die, without honor!"
[La Spada] "YOUR DEATH WILL BE MEANINGLESS! I WILL TAKE THIS LAND!"

The woman cackled with madness. The blade was rose with her right hand, bones cracking with incredible strength. Upon arm reach, the malevolent woman brought the sword down with terrible intent down upon Monji's head. Die.

Suddenly, the blade would stop inches from Monji. La Spada's eyes widened. Between the old Monji and La Spada stood one. One with fur for skin. One with aura troubled. One with the features of a dog. Anubis caught the blade in between his palm, his hands black as night with his will, a shadow over his face. Having finally caught up to the party, Anubis stopped the blade, claws digging into elephant skin for position. The mink, lost to the land, tasked with ferrying the dead, turned to a follower of the dark one, now stood stalwart. The question would be... why? Interefering with La Spada's will meant certain death. Yet, Anubis stepped in.

Above the blade, La Spada's boney face rose. The woman's brow furrowed and teeth gritted. The anger could be tasted.

Terror was about to take hold of Monji. His body quivered, though it was hard to tell how much was from fear and how much was from the damage that had been inflicted upon him. Steadying himself upon his cane, he raised a wrinkled and bruised face towards his foe. As he stood there, he could not do much more than watch as she unsheathed one of her blade. As the sharp blade was brought into the open, the moonlight reflected off the metal. Her voice cut through the now calm night, laced with malice that sent a shiver down the mink's spine.
Monji realized there was nothing he could do before this monster. He closed his eyes, awaiting the strike he knew would come. His strength was meaningless before her, and he had already lived a long life so far. He only hoped the others would be able to survive this calamity that decided to lay claim to their home. Only that the strike never came. Opening his eyes again, he saw a strange figure looming above him. It reminded Monji of a dog mink, though he had never seen this being before. Was it one of Spada's allies? If so, why did it stop the strike? That aside...

I am such a coward... Monji muttered to himself. He had resigned himself to not fight back, to not protect his home. Even after his fellow minks had been killed. It was unforgivable. He raised his face upwards again. Even if the strike was stopped by this other being, there was no guarantee that Spada would not try to lay waste to Zou. So his gaze rose even higher, up to the white circle that hung in the sky above Zou, shining its light down on them. As his eyes took in the sight up above, he felt his body changed. His fur grew, his body expanded and limbs extended. The pain in his body faded to more of an annoyance, and he heard himself let out a deep growl.

GRRRRRRR

However, under the cover of the night another figure made his move. While Monji transformed into his Sulong form, Pedro had reached the scene. His feet stepping across the soft underground, he moved through the darkness and foliage moving until he could emerge behind Spada. With movements like that of a trained assassin, he moved soundlessly and smoothly across open area towards the enemy, drawing his sword as he stepped out from the coverage. Should his move be successful, Monji's transformation would distract the two foes until Pedro was able to sneak up on them, placing his sword against the skeletal neck. Drop your weapon and don't make another move!

Such benevolence. How disgusting. La Spada would not stand for such goodness. To cut it down. The Grim would roar in rage, slashing towards the defeated Monji. Suddenly, her blade stopped. Anubis stood before her, catching the blade on his blackened fingers. The woman immediately barked at him, asking how dare he interfere! The intent her words carried were one to kill, transposed into her nakama. Anubis had crossed a line. He had crossed La Spada’s satiation to kill.

Suddenly, Monji growled, growing to lengths great. Muscles ripped. His power grew substantially, such that Anubis stood in shock, now backing away. His memory flooded to images of his past.

[Anubis] “W-W-W-Wait! That look! T-t-t-that’s…!”

La Spada did not move, not even when a blade was wrapped around her neck. A newcomer asked her not to move. The response would be swift.

[La Spada] "Ohhhh! Whoa, there!! My, my, my! How scary!"

The woman spoke in a higher pitched whiney tone, one sounding almost sarcastic. La Spada had raised her hands, dropping her sword. Perhaps mastery of the sword, or that the sword had a life of its own, cursed, it flipped right back to the sheathe. La Spada was Admiral height. And so, the sword must be extended as well as Pedro’s arm. The woman, with still a sarcastic tone, seemed to have surrendered.

Anubis had jumped back, now facing all three in a triangle view. Monji was imposing, scary, and of danger. Yet, Anubis had his body, his claws, slanted facing another. Not Pedro. Not Sulong Monji. Anubis slanted his body towards La Spada, almost as if he deemed her as the threat, even now.

Pedro knew that something was wrong, terribly wrong. He could smell it in the air, the death and decay that surrounded them. He could see it as the foreign mink distanced himself from the skeletal woman. He could feel it in his body, the hairs on his back rising instinctively and his ears laying flat against his head. He could hear it in the deep growl that Monji let out as he transformed, echoing that of his own that started to build within his chest. It contrasted the calm of the enemy before him, her voice playful even as his naked steel rested on her neck. Terror reverberated throughout the area, and with a glimpse he noticed what he had not noticed before, the bodies of fellow minks that had accompanied Monji to hold this location. They were all either dead or dying. The growl that had been trapped within his chest finally burst free, but it was overshadowed by a primal roar as Monji leapt forwards, paws sparking with Electro. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-

The ferocious scream surprised Pedro a little, he knew the old mink should have been able to control his sulong form after so long, was his rage that intense? Yes. His subordinates had been discarded as refuse and he had not been able to do anything. And so he dove forward, heedless of the danger it would put him in, right hand thrust forward with as much force as he could muster(A-rank: City level) towards the chest of the skeletal foe. As he closed the short gap his entire limb flared in sparks, the Electro casting him and Spada in terrible light.

Pedro knew better than to waste an opportunity. Better than to let a foe before him potentially get away. Better than to let the gambit that Monji was playing go to waste. So it was that his shining blade darkened as the other mink struck forwards(+2 dpr) yet it took on a similar cast of Monji's arm. His Electro surged throughout the blackened blade that already rested against the neck of his foe. With one swift move, he threw his entire strength and weight against his weapon(A-rank + hardening = Island Level), cutting downwards diagonally. Should it be successful his strike would enter at the right side of her neck, then slice through her upper torso above where Monji aimed to strike, before exiting just under her left arm.

Zou Invasion Arc - #8

Zou Forest
Such anger. Such intent. Such fear. Emotions that could be tasted, in the Zou Forest surrounded by Mink bodies. Two stood threatening one. Monji had made a transformation foul. Pedro had wrapped his blade against the woman’s neck. Checkmate. Yet, one was not so convinced - Anubis looked with trepidation. A wanderer threatening the land of Minks. They would have none of that. La Spada complained and whined about how scary the both were, the tint of morbid sarcasm an aftertaste of those words. The minks would take no prisoner. Both attacked in tandem. A moment before, La Spada’s cold yellow eyes glowed red, their intent coming to her like a running image.

The Grim would shift her body slightly, curling it diagonally downward to meet the sword’s path, while her entire body took on a black hue beneath her cloak of spirit. It would seem as if she tried to dodge, but failed to dodge in time, for Pedro’s blade still sliced through her neck. Her movement, however, made it so the sword only cut the neck, the blade continuing and sliding off the top of her shoulder bone, leaving her frame intact. Yet, as sought p, the blade cut, slicing the woman’s head clean off her neck. Almost simultaneously, Monji’s frontal attack barreled into her, creating a large spike of electricity, sending the infamous woman reeling backwards, her boney body crashing into a tree. Two large thuds signified her body hitting the ground and her head close thereof.

It took one attack. The minks had decapitated the threat. A breath of calm filled the air. A sense of security false.

Suddenly, that calm was abruptly broken by a maddening laugh.

[La Spada] "Kuhahaha… Kuhahahaha!! Kuahahahahaa!! Kuhahahahaha!!!
Maddening. A mad voice swept through the forest with a thick intent to kill. A voice with such malevolence, it seems to want to drink the world dry. If Pedro turned, he’s see La Spada’s head moving. Her ruby lips on the skeletal face laughed uncontrollably. Suddenly, a green light erupted from her skeleton, connecting to the laughing skeletal face. In a shocking revelation, slow as the sun sets, the head was drawn to the skeleton, connecting to it with a crack. Slowly, the skeletal body, now back together, stood up. With it came a sweep of soul, forming a green hue that took the symbol of a large skull behind her. Fear (see spoiler).

[Anubis] “You fools! Do you know what you’ve done?!”
The night and the moon above the four made for the chilling background of this ominous affair. Here, the two stood in front of Death.

While the intent to kill spread, and fear was intended to be induced, Monji and Pedro were hopefully focused on the mad woman. For there were not four in the forest, but five. In a ploy to distract them to paralyze them with fear, the two would hopefully not realize the fog that had formed at their feet, since La Spada was hit. Slithering from La Spada’s body before she was launched, only measuring three feet, Nemesis “The Leech”, had dropped to the ground at Monji and Pedro’s feet. Suddenly, a poison smog cloud erupted, them at the middle, forming a spider with tentacles, sweeping the area with poison smog. A smog to not be blown away - it was a part of Nemesis.

Anubis had jumped high into a tree, but even he would feel it there. Monji and Pedro, point-blank, would have other issues. Their heightened sense of smell and eyesight would be detrimental, seeking to take ahold of their senses to weaken them. If successful, not only would their strength wane, their eyesight would blur, their hearing would be impaired, and their balance shook.

A perfect storm for the morbid setting. There, in the poison smog, clad at night in a dark forest, only the light of a soul would illuminate. Seemimgly all around them, La Spada’s vocie would cackle, her figure mixing with the terrible killing intent. The goal wasn’t to kill, it was to break their spirit through fear.

A truly haunting affair worthy of one dubbed “The Grim”.

That was easy. Too easy. Pedro barely felt resistance as his sword sliced through the skeletal body. Yet it seemed to have worked, the body split in half, head discarded and body blown past the jaguar mink.

A sense of dread started to rise within Pedro, his eyes panning to that of the unknown mink. No, he too was scared, that didn't appear to be acting, he even distanced himself by leaping into the trees above. His mind racing, the jaguar mink scanned the area with his eyes. He even looked at the severed head of his foe and body, discarded on the ground behind him. Absently he noted that Monji was crossing the clearing towards the tree the headless body had been thrown against, once again favoring one of his legs. It seemed the initial rage of Sulong had worn off, yet he still seemed dead set on the body he had sent flying.

His eyes panned across the clearing again, and then he saw it. Barely visible in the night, some sort of billowing smoke started to emerge from the foliage a short distance away. Gas? His thought process was cut short as an impossible voice broke the silence, a laugh starting just next to him. The dread that had been building deep within was now rising in tandem with the volume of the laugh, rising to a crescendo. Even as in the back of his mind he knew the gas was making his way towards him, he whipped his body back around, blade descending in a swift blow. Striking nothing.

Searching rapidly, he soon saw the head. It was flying through the air, towards its body, laughing all the while. Even as it latched onto the neck again Pedro remained standing still, his sword resting on the ground before him, fear still having a strong grip on him.

Soft shifts out of the corner of his eyes brought the mink back from pits of despair as he once again noticed the clouds of gas spreading across the clearing. It had already almost surrounded Pedro where he stood, billowing in an ever expanding area. He considered trying to bring Monji to safety, but thought the better of it for the moment. The old mink was too determined in his stride. With a last look at the scene he leapt upwards into the trees, out of immediate reach of the gas clouds, climbing rapidly through the branches to the top of the trees.

Monji meanwhile had reached the body of Spada, laying as if discarded against a tree trunk. Just as he reached the body, his palms once more alight with the crackle of Electro, Spada's head reattached to her body. Already feeding off of his rage, the sense of dread only added to his instincts to fight this creature, this monster. It was unimaginable to him that he or his fellow minks would get out of this situation alive unless they destroyed this foe that had appeared before them.

Half aware of Spada's head latching onto her body once more, he struck with his right paw, rage and sparks filling his strike(B-rank = Town Level) aimed to land in the middle of her torso once more. He followed up with a left paw strike, then another right blow, alternating continuously, barely aware of anything but him and the skeletal foe.
