It's up to you. I believe you can also capture him and be part of your squad.

None. You can create any item, no matter how big, strong, or crazy. He’ll, you can make an insta-kill item. No limitation.

i think it makes sense that they have to be able to make it, so nothing that needs science above their mastery. and it shouldnt be anything super custom

What if I dedicate one of my subordinate slots for him? Would that work? That way I'm not really getting a new/extra subordinate, I'm just using a pre-made one for story purposes.
