Literally this is the reason. Chimera trained him (he’s an Absolute Justice version of Garp that led Pangea mission).

Thanks. Hoping so. I believe Onigumo will be hugely important post-timeskip because he’ll be one of the leaders of the Akainu Fleet Admiral post-timeskip Absolute Justice group. Onigumo fits that perfectly, and Akainu does not f** around (see manga for full details lol).

Leo spoke, challenging Vice Admiral Onigumo's hatred and thrist for revenge. However, Onigumo's stance quickly became clear to Leo when Onigumo spoke.

At first, Leo's eyes widened ever so slightly in surprise, but right thereafter, Leo grinned.

I see... he thinks I'm G.

Leo thought to himself, intrigued by this turn of events.

I will let him think that for now... and see his resolve.

Leo said, his drones blasting Onigumo's location. Three silhouettes jumped inbetween Onigumo and the incoming lasers, blocking the attack. And with that, Onigumo's fighting force was revealed. Personal Pacifista guardians endowed with arachnid abilities. The PX-Spider. Initiating a counterattack, Onigumo swung his sword, unleashing a barrage of arced flying slashes, which sought to bombard Leo's location. But, Leo would not let it get that far. His right fist reverberated with powerful Hasshouken energy and black Busou-shoku no Haki, and he swung it forward. From Leo's fist, a concussive shockwave was unleashed, meeting the flying slashes in a head on collision.

Reverberating Dragon...!

Leo's shockwave would overwhelm Onigumo's attack, continuing on course toward Onigumo. However, that was not all. The Chiron drones that were high up above the battlefield, surveying, were relaying visual information of Onigumo's actions to Leo through his mechanical eyepatch. Essentially getting bird's eye view of Onigumo despite the large, obscuring shockwave between them, Leo was able to see everything. Pushing off of the ground and accelerating with Soru, Leo flanked Onigumo, appearing a good thirty meters away from Onigumo, off to his right. As the reverberating tiger was approaching Onigumo, forcing him to deal with it, Leo would fire a laser from the palm of his right, Battle Smasher clad hand. The laser aimed to hit Onigumo from the side, engulfing him in a power explosion of light.
