This rock contains a very rare metal. It comes from a long forgotten mine deep under a volcano, in a country famous for its weapon smiths. The ore is so hard, conventional tools cant even break it apart.

You know, Kilij the Blacksmith has pretty high Science stats. Meaning that he can double as a chemist and metallurgist from time to time. He can easily spot reactive and volatile materials.

What if it is an actual ore rock, but its hollowed out and filled with a conventional bomb, with a nitro glycerin trigger. Hi NSA, its just me again.
An expert geologist is of course able to put a bomb into a rock without it being visible to the naked eye. However, there is probably some sort of code among their ranks to not hurt fellow scientists.
Maybe they can be converted to worshipping rocks, too. #PraiseHelix
