Ergastulum
Hei walked through the streets of Ergastulum, oblivious to what had happened to his employer. Loretta was no more. Having been assassinated in cold blood by those Hei was hunting. What would happen with the contract? The vow that bound him? Unfortunately they thought in the wrong direction. A hunter was vowed by blood and soul. A contract could only be nulled through either the employer severing the contract or through the hunter itself dying. The death of an employer would keep the contract up and running. The payment was already acquired but in this situation the rewards from hiring a hunter would never find a recipient. Like with money or hunting an object it'd go to next of kin.
Hei did stop briefly only to look behind him. While his mantra range was perhaps not far enough he did feel that something was off. Something had happened, but he could not say what it was exactly. He narrowed his eyes in frustration, unable to shake this feeling. "My conscience is going to get me killed one of these days." Hei said, a soft whisper to himself.
The man fully turned and equipped his mask once more. Retracing his steps from where he last met Loretta.
Would he clash with the hunters who lie in wait?
