# Loguetown, the door towards Grand Line. The city in which all of that « One Piece » sh*t began. East Blue was the weakest sea but produced the best of the best. The Hero of the Marines Garp and the Pirate King Roger were from East Blue. According to his soldiers, If he wanted to visit the town. He needed absolutely to see where Roger died.

To tell the truth, Shaarib didn’t care at all. He had others things to do. He needed to be stronger. He couldn’t protect Lee from those assassins. What was he going to do against Ener and his goons ?!

As soon as they arrived he decided to took the direction of the Marine base. There, he would have free boose and food and maybe he would create a little ruckus. A fight could help him forget about Arlong Park. That old man Gan Forr wouldn’t be happy about it but what could he do now ? He was dead and it was that peaceful mindset that killed him.

After 15 minutes, he was in front of the cafeteria. With one powerful kick, he sent flying the saloon doors. All of the marines looked at him. Shaarib was dressed as usual, a pair of rangers, a black jogger, a white t shirt with the Marine logo and finally on his shoulders was his Captain coat. With a smile our hero said :
  • Daddy is here ! And he is thirsty ! #

As 'Shadow Sentinel' Frayzah began making his way towards town via the dock after getting out of his tiny dinghy, he immediately notices a small group of low ranking Marines that were seemingly awaiting his arrival. Even though his branch's mission was supposed to be a secret, Jimmy wasn't all too surprised about Smoker possibly catching wind of their arrival. He knew his former superior was an extremely resourceful and perceptive man, word of the 169th Marines' exploits would of definitely spread throughout the East Blue and after so many missions they would need to eventually stop at a Marine base. He still approaches cautiously though, giving them a simple nod as they salute and one of them takes a step forward to address him.
Handsome said:
"Sir, welcome to Loguetown. Our base leader, Captain Smoker, would like to invite you to a conversation. If you would follow us please."
Jimmy: ‘I see, so they were waiting for me or at least somebody from the 169th but why? Heh-heh-heh, maybe I can get some info out of these guys along the way.’

“At ease men, no need for such formalities with me. I'm Commodore Frayzah, you may have heard of me but I won't judge if you haven't. I have business with your captain anyway so plea......”

But before he could go on he hears the familiar sound of a ringing Den Den Mushi coming from his pocket.

Paruparuparuparuparu.”

He knew exactly who was calling based on his rash actions of sailing ahead of the fleet without even a word, Rear Admiral Vulpes himself, the new leader of the 169th Branch.

Jimmy: ‘Pez has some bad timing but I better hear him out, he mustn't be too pissed if he didn't call sooner.’

“Give me a sec, this could be a matter above your pay grades.”

Turning around, he walks far enough back up the wooden jetty until he is sure the others couldn't hear his call. He pulls out his Den Den Mushi and it now customized to like Jimmy, complete with a miniature mask and suit. He answers it and listens to what his new branch leader has to say.
Tartan Owl said:
"Frayzah, the 169th will be splitting up again in order to cover more ground. I will leave the situation regarding Captain Smoker to you. On a side note, Rear Admiral Lee has been recalled to Marineford and will no longer be leading our branch. I will inform the rest of the branch while you are away. Once you have completed your mission, contact me for your next orders. Rear Admiral Vulpes out."
He was relieved Lee was being sent to Marineford, the doctors and surgeons at HQ were the best the Marines had so he knew his fallen ally would be back on his feet soon. Even with the current situation of having to arrest another former superior, he couldn't help but smile about the fact that this one will survive as he puts away his Transponder Snail.

Jimmy: ‘And don't worry Pezzy, Smoker will get the Justice he deserves one way or another.’

He rejoins the small group of Marines sent to escort him and continues with what he was saying before they were interrupted.

Jimmy: “So what was I saying again? Heh-heh that's right, please lead the way.”

They begin to do just that and the Commodore follows closely as they begin making their way though the town, he remembers some from the faces of the locals from the time he spent here as a rookie Marine. To pass the time, he tries to get some information out of the group taking him to Captain Smoker.

Jimmy: “So you said your captain wanted to have a conversation, any idea what it's about?”

Loguetown - Town Square
_____
The soldiers were visibly relieved when Frayzah accepted Captain Smoker's request. They went ahead.
Frayzah said:
Jimmy: “So you said your captain wanted to have a conversation, any idea what it's about?”
A few seconds passed before the group leader answered:

"Well, the order to send the leader of your branch directly to Captain Smoker... Seemingly a very important matter..."

"...oh yeah, Mashikaku-san said he heard that your former leader was serously injoured during one of your missions. Is he alright..?"
Angrily, the group leader pushed his rifle against the young recruit's hip. He knew that was information they shouldn't have access of.

"I must apologize for the presumption of this young cadet... Officer Mashikaku said he overheard an Inspector from Marineford talking about this when investigating something here in Loguetown..."

"Yeah, Captain Smoker had a quarrel with these inspectors. Since then it seems as if we are cut off from the headquarters..."
a third soldier added casually while picking in his nose.
"Don't spread such a nonsense here..." interrupted a fourth "...I thought they were just examining the incident with ex-Rear Admiral Einhardt, who is currently staying here and..."

With an exasperated look at the group, the leader stopped, which immediately ended the casual conversation and after a brief glance of all 5 soldiers to Commodore Frayzah, everyone went on.

"This way..."

From the port, they went through some busy streets until they reached the huge town square. You almost had to meander through the crowds to get ahead, but with the large wooden structure of the Execution Platform in the distance, you could orient yourself well.

Coming from the south-west, they'd reach the base in the north-east of the square.

Marine Base - Cafeteria
_____
There were quite a lot marines in the cafeteria hall inside the base. Some were done with patrolling in late shift, others prepared for their shift with a square meal. Many different conversations caused a decent noise level.

The sudden kick in of the saloon-like front door by one, for the most in the room unknown, marine briefly provided for silence throughout the hall. All of the marines looked at the person, but the noise level enhanced quickly again and almost everyone continued their conversation.
Emperor Cross said:

Daddy is here ! And he is thirsty ! #
A muscular 7ft tall Marine Lieutenant, who sat at a table next to the front door, gave the troublemaker a dirty look.

"Who do you think you are, you brat?!"
When he got up, one could see that his coffee was being spilled over his white uniform. However, he was not getting up to start a fight with Shaarib at all - it was rather the reflexive jump on your feet when hot coffee is scalding your lap...

You could see Officer Mashikaku who sat a few tables away, deep in conversation. Also, Ensign Tashigi who seemed to be talking to a ficus plant next to her table...

As they walked down the lively roads, the former vigilante Frayzah stayed silent and listened very carefully to the conversation created by his simple question. It was all very intriguing to him even though none of it truly answers his question, besides the fact that it's important. An inspector from HQ made sense to Jimmy but why would he mention Lee? Is it possible Smoker was somehow involved in the attempt on his life? Did Lee discover some thing he shouldn't have? The Marine Commodore decides to put these questions on hold for now, he can ask them to Smoker himself after he arrests him. Something else caught his interest too and that was the mentioning of Einhardt, the last he heard her entire branch went missing at sea. He even heard that she has the Haki of Conquerors and wonders if she'd be interested in joining the 169th Branch, maybe he'll ask her himself after this matter with Smoker has been handled.

The leader eventually stopped though and gave the group a look to signal he had enough of their speculation, they did just that and everybody continued moving when he points out the next direction. After a few more streets they arrive at the town square, it is here where the legendary Pirate King was executed and screamed his famous last words that sparked The Great Pirate Era. Frayzah knows of these stories but instead chooses to ignore the historic Execution Platform due to it reminding him too much of how he witnessed his own parents get executed on a similar platform, instead he focuses directly toward the Marine Base ahead and the task at hand. He passes the many people gathered in the square along the way, some were even still talking about the bounty hunter Ice who didn't really seem like anything special to Jimmy. However, he blocks all of that out as they finally get to the entrance of the base.

Jimmy: 'I called this place home for my first year as a Marine. Heh-heh-heh, it's been a while but it still looks the same.'

Marine Base
_____
The small group led the Commodore to the entrance. Unlike other marine bases, the architectural style was more interrelated with the buildings of the neighborhood and reminded rather of something like a police bureau than a military station. Only the typical blue camouflage pattern left no doubt that it belonged to the marines. The leading position of this base was currently held by Smoker. What distinguished him from most of the other Captains around the East Blue was the fact, that he was a Captain, originally sent from the Marine Headquarters...

While the other four soldiers waited outside, the group leader led the Commodore along the foyer up to the stairs, where they reached the third floor. As the lower floors were rather storage- and holding areas for the units, the 3rd floor was an administrative level where different executives had their rooms from which they coordinated their operations.

It seemed that the Ensign had not even given the Commodore the choice of going to the captain's door himself. Whenever Frayzah was about to go ahead, as the premises did not seem foreign to him, the soldier quickly but inconspicous scurried in front of him until he was the first to stand in front of the office. After a thoughtful cough in his fist, he knocked on Smoker's door. The rhythm of the knocking had a clear pattern and only after about 15 seconds came an answer.

"Come in!"

As the door opened, the Ensign first glanced shortly into the room and after an authoritative nod of his captain, he made his way down to rejoin with his group at the entrance. Upon entering the office, one might think to notice a strange single clicking sound from the direction of the desk.

Smoker's expression after his guest entered the room swiftly changed from widened eyes of surprise to a serious gaze ... he tapped the ash of his three cigars off to the ground and lit them again before welcoming his former recruit:

"Frayzah... long time no see..."

Vulpes casually strolled down the busy, cobbled stone streets of the most famous port town in East Blue. The buildings were all made of thick, grey stone. Each house was sturdy enough in it's construction to the point that they were less like houses and more like civilian fortresses.

A most impressive town by East Blue standards. This town of stone is quite the contrast compared to the village of wood that Arlong ruled over. Perhaps the evacuated civilians will come to appreciate the benefits of quality masonry.

Despite the plethora of civilians going about their daily lives, the fox mink had no trouble moving through the crowd as people had a tendency to avoid the path of an 8ft 8 bipedal mass of fur and muscle.
They all probably have no idea of what I even am. Even an officer's coat bearing the symbol of the Marines cannot overcome their fear of the unknown. Either that or it is a fear of the black body bag slung over my shoulder. One or the other..... Or both.

Yawning at the somewhat mundane surroundings, Vulpes finally found what he was looking for in this sea of grey rock. A patch of blue. The local Marine HQ.

Walking through the fastidiously clean reception area, Vulpes approached the main desk, manned by some young, blonde, short haired male ensign.

Frayzah will be dealing with Smoker. That means I should ask for the second in command of this base if I want anything done quickly.

"Excuse me. I would appreciate it if you could get me the second highest ranked officer for me. I have a dead bounty to turn in and a request for more troops for further campaigns against pirates."

# A carnivorous smile appeared on Shaarib's face. Someone reacted and it was a big one, the guy measured 7ft and by judging his ranks, he was a lieutenant and by judging his attire, he got a little accident.

Handsome said:
"Who do you think you are, you brat?!"
So now Shaarib was a brat ? Yes he was 18 and already a Captain. That wasn't his fault. He was just a good soldier, a talented one but a good soldier. The giant was angry, too angry, was he hurt in his pride ? Because a younger one was his superior ? That wasn't it, Shaarib didn't show his back so they couldn't see that he outranked everyone of them. What was the cause then ? Oh ! As Shaarib looked at the guy more closely, he saw the coffee stain on the Lieutenant. Our Hero's entry might have surprised the big fella and now he wanted to act though in front of the others. Shaarib began laughing and just decided to turn his back at the Lieutenant for some seconds and to face him again just for him to realize who he was talking too. The skypean placed his sunglasses in one the pockets of his coat, removed it, folded it and put it on the counter.

- Ma ma ! What are we going to do now Lieutenant ? Is it a fight that you want or do you want to apologize to Daddy-sama ? If it's the former, just let me command a drink and if it's the later, come give daddy a hug... said our Captain opening his arms. #

Marine Base - Ground Floor
_____
The four recruits, waiting for their superior, leaned against the railing in front of the entrance and enjoyed the short break of their patrol. While everyone watched the busy town square, one of them turned around to smoke a quick cigarette as no superior was in sight. But he quickly dropped everything as apparently a furred monster piled up on the stairs. His comrades stopped him just in time before falling in shock over the railing...

In the lobby at the reception area, a young Ensign, immersed in his book, leaned with his elbows on the main desk. He, however, gave his guest an unimpressed look, raised his head and lowered it right back, while flipping through some pages. What stood out was that on the large tidy surface of the desk only this single book could be seen ...

Tartan Owl said:
"Excuse me. I would appreciate it if you could get me the second highest ranked officer for me. I have a dead bounty to turn in and a request for more troops for further campaigns against pirates."
"The second highest..? I'm sorry..." he lowered his head deeper and pointed with his forefinger on a name in his book "...Rear Admiral, with only about 50 soldiers stationed in Loguetown right now we're dangerously understaffed... so almost every superior, who would be authorized to fulfill your request is currently in action... whereas..."

He quickly flipped through some pages until he reached a certain roster in which a lot was marked with red ink...

"I must apologize for the confusion, Sir. For such short-term requests, of course, we have a person who will take care of it in Smoker's name... that'd be... Ensign Tashigi. Despite her low rank, you could say she is like Smoker's direct assistant. She should be in the cafeteria right now. Meanwhile, I'll look into my book to see if I can find any men in readiness who could join your force..."

After completing the sentence, he leaned down again with his elbows and read through his book as if it were a novel...

Indeed, the heavily built man hadn't paid much attention to the man's uniform and looked down quite confusedly at Captain Shaarib. He, too, recently arrived in Loguetown with his captain and crew - and he didn't want to get them in trouble. Hurting in his pride, he clenched his fists and gritted his teeth...

The first glimpse went to the Captain of his branch, who returned his gaze and shook his head while talking to Officer Mashikaku. Afterwards, ignoring the young captain's offer, he turned to his men and signaled them to follow him, leaving the place... However, as he passed by, he couldn't resist extending his thick right elbow, trying to "accidentally" jostle the young Captain out of his way. If it went smoothly, it would be no more than a little push to the side though...

"Very well. I thank you for your assistance."

Turning away from the reception desk, Vulpes followed the signs that guided visitors to the cafeteria. Walking through the dull white halls, the fox mink came into the roomy cafeteria. The atmosphere was pleasant, the sound of conversation being more of a background hum than an overwhelming cacophony, although he did notice what looked like a potential situation arising involving one of his own men.

Hmmm. This is a first time in a long time where I practically dwarf everyone else. Being in the presence of Lee and Reo made me forget I am taller than the average human.

Ignoring the momentary pang of sadness he felt at remembering his two comrades who were now assigned elsewhere in the world, Vulpes spoke in a loud, clear voice.

"Is there an Ensign Tashigi here?"

A smile appeared on the Captain face. Shaarib decided to take a step back and with a swift movement with the back of his hand, he punched the Lieutenant in the throat. As soon as he done that, Shaarib began hitting the back of the lieutenant with his other hand in case the man will cough. Which is logical reaction when someone punch you where the shandia hit him. Shaarib waited for some seconds and took the direction of the bar asking for a glass of whisky while laughing. During this little "misunderstanding", Shaarib had not paid attention to his surroundings and dropped a cry of surprise when he heard a voice that he knew too well.

He quickly turned in the direction of the voice. It was Vulpes, the new leader of the 169th. The man was too discreet, the only time he gave attention at Shaarib was the first time they meet at Shells town. At Arlong Park during his confrontation with Reo, Shaarib tried to ease the situation but the two Commodores didn't even considered him. At Reo's evocation, Shaarib felt his heart tightening but this wasn't the time for thinking about the "past". The Captain decided too go meet with Vulpes with his drink in his drink in his right hand. Arrived in front of him, Shaarib he tried to give his boss the glass.#

ABOARD THE STORMHAWK - THEN (ABOUT 22 HOURS AGO, OR MAYBE IT WAS 23 HOURS?):

Ensign George was going about his usual duties on the ship before being summoned by Commodore Frayzah. It was unusually windy on that particular day so he was hard at work directing the rest of the crew as they trim the sails, pointing out which adjustments should be made so the ship can sail windward to Loguetown at the fastest possible speed. While he was doing this, another Marine approached from behind to address him.

Marine: "Ensign George, the Commodore has requested to speak with you. He said that it's important."

The blonde haired Ensign thanks the other Marine and salutes before he heads towards the crows nest, it is in here where Jimmy had moved his office due to his enjoyment of the view and had even made a staircase that spirals around the mast, out of the finest scrap timber available on The Stormhawk, for easy convenient access. Upon nearing the top of the stairs, George could see his superiors office and it kind of reminded him of a round tree house due to the nature of how it was built out of the existing crows nest. There was no door instead just a simple piece of black fabric in it's place, the walls were unevenly put up with small windows facing all directions but from the young Ensign's view they were also blocked with similar black fabric.

George: 'This guy definitely has a few screws loose, he had a perfectly fine office before. Still, I wonder what he wants.'

He was about to knock on the wall beside the doorway when he heard the Commodore in what seemed like a conversation but couldn't hear anybody else talking.

Jimmy: "Heh-heh-heh I know it's pretty strong but I don't wanna learn it.........................Yes I know Faysal was skilled at it, he tried to teach me but it was too boring.....................Don't give me that crap, there is nothing more relaxing than slicing the corruption out of the hearts of criminals..........................Heh-heh-heh I remember that, Eddy had it coming that day but I gotta admit that he really turned it around with that question mark hook. Did he make that by the way? It was a fine piece of work, it's what truly inspired me to pursue science..............................Geez I get it already, you're just in my head, madness won, you're hurting hope and rationality really really bad."

George: 'Maybe I should report this to the new Rear Admiral. Actually on second thought he scares me more than Frayzah does, maybe I should just quit and become a bounty hunter.'

A little freaked by what he had listened to and with a sigh, he knocked on the doorway with the intention of just pretending that he didn't hear a thing.

ABOARD THE STORMHAWK - NOW:

It had been close to half an hour since Jimmy left to confront Captain Smoker and Ensign George was waiting on the ship, waiting for the perfect opportunity to slip away unnoticed by the other Marines. He watches as they complain about having to do dog sitting duty. He knew he had other things to do though and if spotted, the others would complain to Frayzah or even try to stop him. Luckily for him though the perfect opportunity arises, Chouchou who had grown tired of the others' complaining began to retaliate. Barking and trying to attack them, the little white canine chases them all into hiding and gave the Ensign enough time to jump off the ship where he could swim to shore.

George: 'I always get treated like the fool, well I'm not the idiot stuck looking after a dog.'

SMOKER'S OFFICE, MARINE BASE - NOW:

Frayzah needed no directions upon entering the base, he knew the halls and passageways like the back of his hand. So much so that he often found himself in front of the group, he considered staying back after a while but it was too amused at the sight of the other Marine's constant scurrying to be the one leading the way.

Jimmy: 'Heh-heh-heh I see he still trains them well.'

They get to the door of Smoker's office and where the leader of the group knocks before leading him in and leaving just as quick. He hears a clicking sound but thinks nothing of it. Smoker seemed shocked at his arrival, leading him to believe his earlier theory of just expecting a branch representative was most likely. It doesn't take long until the Captain recollects himself though, once again sitting his usual serious composure.
Handsome said:
"Frayzah... long time no see..."
Jimmy: "Yeah it's definitely been a while, it feels weird not to be addressing you as 'Sir' though. You seemed to be expecting a member of the 169th Branch from what I can tell, can I ask why?"

For a moment he caught his breath, from the hit on his throat and after another blow on his back, he bent down. But owing to the massive body the last punch was no more than a pinprick for him. Perhaps a little faster than the captain might suspect, the lieutenant rose again and the moment he turned his back on him, Nezura, who mostly fights with his bare fists, aimed at the back of Shaarib's head with a powerful blow."Uwooh!"

On the other side of the cafeteria sat a young swordsman alone at a table. Although she had already read it up and down, the Ensign tried to concentrate on her swords catalog, despite all the unrest. While the most gathered into their units while eating, Tashigi, as a student of the not-dreaded but much-respected Captain Smoker, was rather shunned. The happier she was to have at least one person sitting at her table, to whom she could read interesting facts from the book. However, she didn't notice from the corner of her eye that the "person" next to her was only tall ficus plant.

Suddenly the room became quiet once again, not only because of the imminent brawl that some of the table neighbors were about to notice, it was because of the huge furry person entering the cafeteria.

Tartan Owl said:

All faces turned to the one table Tashigi was sitting on. She, noticing immediately the rank of the mink, became recognizable by a quick getting up. "Ehm ... Sir, that's me. How can I help?", this was followed by a delayed salute.

Marine Base - Smoker's Office
_____
Just before anyone came through the door, Smoker pressed the tip of the shell behind the picture on his desk (...), which caused a clicking sound...
Frayzah said:
Jimmy: "Yeah it's definitely been a while, it feels weird not to be addressing you as 'Sir' though. You seemed to be expecting a member of the 169th Branch from what I can tell, can I ask why?"
While seemingly digressing the question, he took a few bounty posters from his desk.
I've already heard of the efforts of the 169th branch to free the East Blue of some of its most notorious pirates... Buggy the Clown 15.000.000 ß, Don Creek 17.000.000 ß, Arlong the Saw 20.000.000 ß. Not quite successful, considering that two of these posters are still being distributed... he threw the posters away so that they fluttered through the smoky air...

When I heard Lee's name back then, I thought that things would change here one way or another. But now... I don't not know where this man's ambitions have gone. Within the Marines it was quickly rumored that after his first successes, everything had gone to his head a bit, which could explain the strange events on the Conomi Islands.

His frowned look wandered to Frayzah. Captain Nezumi's men, the only ones who didn't join your evacuation on the Conomi Islands gave me a hint that you guys might end up here... I don't know, but thinking about that you might have been on this mission, where someone like Nezumi died, makes now way more sense...

Could it be that things got a little out of control there?
he asked accusingly, not knowing that Frayzah himself came to this place with an accusation against him.

As the events unfolded around the cafeteria, there would come the steady tapping of heels along the ground down the hallway. Ein had been feeling a bit peckish only just recently and had decided to make a quick stop at the mess hall to see what was on offer and perhaps visit with Ensign Tashigi, whom she'd come to befriend during her brief stay at the marine base.

What she found upon immediately entering the cafeteria was a truly disgraceful sight. She didn't wait for explanations, instead reacting immediately as a single feminine arm sprouted from the back of Shaarib's head, intending on deflecting the aimed punch and pushing it far off target. She wasn't particularly concerned about where his momentum would carry him from there.

"What is the meaning of this?!" she inquired violently, sounding as if she herself were slighted by such a vulgar display of violence. "Do you think this is some pirate's bar where you can have your drunken bar fights? Explain yourself!" She put full authority into her voice, unwilling to let the marine on marine violence spread through the entire room until the entire place was in anarchy.

And so she'd stand there waiting for an answer, looking rather elegant even in her fury as she used her folded umbrella as if it were a walking cane.

All faces turned to the one table Tashigi was sitting on. She, noticing immediately the rank of the mink, became recognizable by a quick getting up. "Ehm ... Sir, that's me. How can I help?", this was followed by a delayed salute.
Piercing blue eyes honed in on the form of the female swordsman. Striding across the room, his padded feet making no noise as he did so, Vulpes unceremoniously slung the black body bag over his shoulder and dumped it at Tashigi's feet, the offending object making a rather sickeningly loud "THUD" noise as it made contact with the floor.

"Firstly that is the corpse of the pirate known as "Iron Mace" Alvida, her bounty is worth 2 1/2 million berri when deceased. See to it that I get my reward. Secondly, I need as many fighting men for my force as can be spared by this base. I currently have 200 Marines at my disposal and I request a further 420 Marines for further campaigns against pirates. I am even willing to accept bounty hunters to bulk up my forces. Seek out my subordinates officers as to how many men they require."

Black tipped ears twitched at the sound of the authoritarian voice. Turning round to face the source of the abrupt noise, Vulpes was surprised to see the face of a Marine whose face had been plastered across several copies of the World Journal recently.
"Lieutenant Einhardt, your presence here is most... Unexpected."

Raising an eyebrow in a questioning manner, Vulpes waited for a response from Einhardt, pondering if he could turn such an encounter to his benefit.

#Shaarib was very surprised. A new protagonist appeared, a fruit user he may say. Why ? Because a damn hand sprouted from the back of his head and it was very unpleasant. That hand deflected an attack that our captain couldn't predict and send his assailant crash on a table few meters away. A quick look make him identify the attacker, it was the Lieutenant he left on the ground a minute ago. He underestimated the Marine and could have been hurt by this coward's attack if that person didn't intervene.

Shaarib only look at the direction of the voice when the bartender gave him the glass of whisky he ask for. It was a woman, she was blonde and with her attire : a high class hat and dress that were blue like her high heels, she looked like a noble sans forget the Marine coat she had on her back. She didn't seems to blend well with the environment. At first he thought that the woman was here more because of nepotism than blood, sweat and tears but Shaarib saw her eyes. The kind of look that was just full of confidence and power and that wa saying : "You don't to mess with me."

Shaarib couldn't help but smile. He was to retort something to the woman but an unpredictable event took place :

Vulpes acknowledged her. The fox was a robot ! If you are going to waste his time, he never going to talk to you and the proof was that he didn't talk with Shaarib at all.

- "" Ma ma, I'm sorry for the ruckus ! I tried to hug the Lieutenant but he began coughing on me. My grandpa gave me a good education before he died ! He said that the best solution for a person that is coughing is to give him a good slap on the slap what I did and it magically stopped. But he might have been hurt in his pride. That why he tried to attack Daddy but you were there to save me ! Thank you miss ! I'm the Captain Shaarib Hassan of the 169 th, protector of Foxy-chan "" did he say pointing his glass towards the Rear Admiral.

- But you can also call me Daddy-sama ! Did he say after doing a "révérence". #

Marine Base - Cafeteria
_____
A smile spread across Nezura's face as he reached out his arm for the punch. His hotheadedness prevailed over his thinking ability at that moment - neither did he think about the consequences of knocking out someone of higher rank, nor did he cared that he could get his superior into trouble with this action...

Before the oversized fist hit the young captain's head, a female arm suddenly grew out of said head, which with a fast movement diverted the blow and instead shattered the table, on which he had previously drunk coffee with his men...

It was both the confusion of what just happened and the momentum of the blow that dropped the man to the ground on his back. Sitting upright again, yet still taller than most in the room, he stared in confusion at the strange hand that seemed to stare at him from the back of the man's head. But the attention quickly fell on the reproving voice of a woman standing at the entrance to the cafeteria...

While three of his men tried to help him up, Nezura groped for words and stared blankly at the strange woman. "Who the hell..." Before he was able to finish the sentence, with presumably something uncouth, suddenly a person got up in the vicinity and began to speak for him. Standing, the person was just about 5.5 feet tall and his uniform made a clean impression. A greasy smile under his marine cap made him however appear disingenuous.

"Shut up, Nezura! She's right and you should thank her for just stopping you." The man turned to Ein "I'm Commander Gokiburi and have to apologize for my lack of intervention. I'll arrange a proper punishment for this fool." he was about to leave the cafeteria together with Nezura and his men "Come on, get out of here..!".

The young bartender tried to make it clear to the captain that in a marine base no alcohol is spent, but in vain, because with each attempt, something interrupted him. A sweat followed as he realized that Shaarib was seizing a small cup of hot Coffee instead of an expected whiskey.

Slightly disgusted, she looked at the body bag but turned her attention quickly back up. "Ehm... yes, sir. I will try to arrange everything..." Two attentive soldiers from her unit picked up the body and were about to leave the cafeteria with Tashigi following them.

Once the blow was diverted as planned, the hand sprouting from Shaarib's head vanished as quickly as it'd appeared to defend his skull with no other reason to exist anymore.

"Well..." Ein began, looking a tad perturbed by her fellow marine's words and mannerisms upon getting her requested explanation. "...Let's try to keep our hands to ourselves from now on unless you know the other person to allay such misunderstandings from now on, shall we? Also, you're most certainly not my father, so chances are I'll address you by name or rank if the need arises, thank you." She certainly wasn't about to degrade herself by calling some random man she'd only met 'daddy' even if it'd happened to be his actual name.

Turning from Shaarib, she addressed Gokiburi as he apologized and tipped the brim of her hat with respect for both his position as well as his ability to handle the situation. "See that you do, thank you. A fist or weapon should never be raised to a fellow marine under any circumstances."

"Tashigi!" she called out upon addressing the most urgent of the matters in the vicinity, catching the other woman before she actually made it out the door and past the range of her voice. She was most of the reason Ein had come to the cafeteria, after all. "The spirits predict a sudden tragedy for this town coming swiftly. Make certain Smoker is on his guard. You as well."

Finally, she turned to speak with the last of the people who demanded her attention, tipping her hat as well to Vulpes.

"Commander, if you please," she corrected. "I do what I can and go where I'm needed. This is only the most recent location I've come to."

Hmmm. She must have gotten a promotion since I last saw her name in the World Journal. She certainly dresses for the papers with that formal attire and all. Bit more fancy than my black vest and jeans. I do prefer functionality over formality though.

"Well then Commander, perhaps we can assist each other. You desire for your full capabilities to be realised and I desire dead criminals. A compatible arrangement indeed."

"Here is the situation. I am sending an expedition force to Dawn Island to deal with three individuals, the veteran pirate captain Bluejam is of the highest priority followed by the bandit leaders Higuma and Dadan. My offer is that, should you agree to assist this expedition, I will place you in full command of the entire operation. An agreeable offer, is it not?"

The more he heard from the Commander and wider his smile was getting. She was flustered. It was logic, she was a noble. She probably wasn't used to people like Shaarib. He just gave the woman a nod of approval and turn his back in the direction of his boss. While waiting for his response, Shaarib decided to finally drink that Whiskey, and it was a d*mn surprise ! This liquid was hot but not the type of hotness he thought he was getting, the bitterness forced him to stuck out his tongue with a grimace. That wasn't alcohol ! That was some coffee ! He wasn't that old to drink coffee without some milk or with a kilogram of sugar !

- Fuck that sh*t ! He yelled while looking at the bartender.

The only thing Shaarib wanted to do was to jump over the bar and beat the crap out of that guy. He didn't like at all when people were making joke of him but he didn't need that kind of attention. Not right now in front of Vulpes or the commander Einhardt especially the later because she wasn't the type of girl you mess with.

It was good news ! They were finally going on a mission after the Arlong Park fiasco ! He really needed that ! The morale of the 169th was terrible since the departure of Red and Lee. What he didn't like was the second part of Vulpes speech, he wanted that woman to supervise him ?! That wasn't true ! So she was going to replace Reo ? Shaarib wasn't going to talk that much because Vulpes was his superior officer. He wasn't going to undermine his authority in front of all those guys but he sure wasn't okay with that decision. He had seniority and it was the only chance he had to prove himself to Vulpes !

Shaarib just walked to the bar, took his coat, put on his glasses and walked out of the cafeteria without a word. What was he going to say now ? Everything was said. Shaarib needed a drink ! It was his first thought when he came in but now he really needed that. He decided to ask one of the Marines at the front gate where was the best bar of the town.#

Marine Base - Ground Floor
_____
After entering the hallway, a familiar voice reached Tashigi's ears.

She was most of the reason Ein had come to the cafeteria, after all. "The spirits predict a sudden tragedy for this town coming swiftly. Make certain Smoker is on his guard. You as well."
After a surprised look to the rear, she immediately returned her gaze and followed the soldiers who were carrying the corpse. Tashigi didn't know Ein that well yet, but she didn't consider her a person who throws words into the room like that without reason. She would have liked to ask her friend for the meaning of it, but duty calls...

While the body bag with Alvida's corpse was carried downstairs, Tashigi walked further into the lobby. The marine ensign at the reception desk reacted in disbelief when Tashigi told him about 420 soldiers to be assembled for the Rear Admiral.

"Inform the barracks that all recruits in training should pack their belongings and stand up at the port... All active units should also look for willing men and women who are ready to assist the 169th Branch in their mission. Please do that, I'll go upstairs and talk to Smoker..."

"T-To Smoker?! That's not possible..." he interrupted Tashigi "Captain Smoker has an important meeting in his office at short notice. He told me nobody should bother him, not even you. That's why I sent the Rear Admiral to you." With Ein's words in her mind, she responded with an indignant voice. "Just do what I told you!" She turned and walked up the stairs...

_____
Gokiburi left the marine base with his men following him. After a few steps out of the exit, he turned around.
"That furry guy who walked into the cafeteria, his look fits the description on the person last seen with Captain Nezumi... So, they are indeed here..." His subordinates looked at him questioningly...

"W-What are we doing now?" Nezura asked while rubbing his aching throat.
"We? I firmly believe that Captain Smoker will take care of it... After all I've heard from his subordinate Mashikaku, his reputation isn't too good anymore. Even a mutt like Smoker will face such an opportunity to present himself in the proper light again... Just wait and see. hihihihi" While Gokiburi laughed, his strikingly unkempt teeth showed up, which stood in high contrast to his otherwise well-groomed appearance. After that, the group went on and disappeared into the dense crowd of the town square.

Shortly afterwards, Shaarib appeared outside the entrance.

Four recruits were still standing at the railing. One who, despite the regulations, stood there with his cigarette, told Shaarib about a bar near the port. "The rules for marine soldiers are pretty strict here in Loguetown, but this bar is usually not inspected. Therefore, most soldiers, who want to let it all hang out, go there. It's called Gambia's Bar."
