A RIPPLE IN TIME
The world was changing giants had been slain and devils were about to take over the world. With such drastic changes arriving out of nowhere, the government went into crisis management. Plans were being created as to how to handle this situation the best. People would be drafted into different bases, tactics reworked but above all else. Their hands were being forced. While Marineford was undergoing changes in staff the five elders called Sengoku into their office, they had to discuss something privately with the Fleet-Admiral in question. A bit of truth that was omitted from the newspaper that was spreading across the world.
"This is a disaster Sengoku. You saw the footage, didn't you? He disobeyed your order and escalated this mayhem."
"Ranj'it's disciple has always been a maverick but now he went too far."
"He knows the repercussions when fighting against a Yonkou. It is an act of war!"
"A war we cannot afford not with Spada plunging the world into chaos."
"Not to mention the Revolutionary Army that finally is starting to come out of hiding."
The five elders all remarked on the current political climate. Just about everything was going fubar and the only saving grace they had was never mentioned in any of the newspapers. Instead, the fall of Kaido had been graciously given to Eustass Captain Kid, elevating him to an even higher standing. Word of Kallavan's heroic escapades would be a myth or a legend. Folklore many would dismiss but only a few outside the marines knew the truth. What could've been the act of a saint in marine history was corrupted and became a mere footnote in the grand scheme of things.
The price men pay when they reach for personal desires.
"I do not understand gentlemen. You should be overjoyed. One of our own after years has managed to defeat a blight on our world. And yet you condemn him? Simply because of timing and how the media has framed this era?" Sengoku said, trying to defend his disciple. He knew full well what Kallavan did went above and beyond his pay grade and political standing within the Marines. The Fleet-Admiral even forbade him from going but something had snapped within the young Admiral, ignoring Sengoku's orders. A first in Kallavan's history but certainly not the last. "I certainly must not remind you how the rocks incident initially went. Our order became legendary and the pinnacle of society it is today. Spada will not reach the last road Poneglyph. Not while he has it."
"You sure are so certain of yourself Sengoku. But I'm afraid your hubris is challenging my patience and it has worn out."
"Just like how the Yonkou is changing I feel we must prepare as well."
"You surely jest," Sengoku said, in disbelief.
"We never jest, Sengoku. We've already talked about it with Kong. He suggested Sakazuki take over but I'm sure Kuzan will interfere in that matter."
Stunned, the old Fleet-Admiral couldn't believe his ears. A single action by one of his prized disciples was escalating everything to such a degree. What was happening?
"Nothing has been set yet. A mere suggestion on our part but Kong didn't immediately decline it."
"However, what we did agree on was that Kallavan has to be returned to us at once and pay the price for his outrageous actions. We have rules, without them, we'd live with the animals."
"You are not going to say what I think you will.." Sengoku said in defeat.
"But no one has seen him since the incident, our searches have returned without any success. And even if you don't once he hears the news he'll immediately move to engage Spada! Even trying to convince him by force will be an undertaking that will require at least an Admiral! No one besides Sakazuki will volunteer for that. "
"As always Sengoku, you are right on the money. Within the Marines, everyone knows the truth that Kallavan has defeated Kaido. A hero, a saint they'd never try to defy. That is why someone else will take care of that matter."
"Enter!"
The scene shifted to the front door of their office. A single tall male walked in, ash grey hair with piercing yellow eyes. In his hand, a rope split into multiple ones. Sengoku's eyes widened as he grits his teeth, helpless as they circumvented his jurisdiction.
"This is going too far!"
Sengoku screamed as the white-haired man threw the ropes into the middle of the office, effectively throwing 6 captured and defeated individuals in front of the Fleet-Admiral's feet. FoxHound, defeated.
"No Sengoku. He went too far, his will of D is one we cannot exploit. This is merely a reaction to his poor choices. A band of delinquents masquerading as Marines. Preposterous."
"So, where does this end? Will you make him a martyr? Destroying a light the navy hasn't seen in years?"
"He must atone for his sins." The ashen-haired man spoke, softly before returning.
"Ostred, do and try not to kill him. We are still in need of him. He's a weapon, one of mass destruction. But a weapon nonetheless."
"I will not make any promise."
The man left the room. The warmth was sucked out of it leaving a stunned and shocked Sengoku behind. Foxhound members laying at his feat, beaten to an inch of their lives. A defeat like this they had never received since their founding. But he had gained one thing from them, his vivre card. And so the Adjudicator went to work, rooting one bad apple at a time. Like a snowball thrown from a cliff, the world around Kallavan was changing at a pace he had no control over anymore.
Even his role within the marines was about to change for the better or for the worse.
