Resolved Forum and Thread Ideas to push activity

Thriller Bark back when the original concept was being discussed on OJ, last i recall only 2 communities came forward for it as in the RP and Mafia. So the concept began, yes Thriller Bark is based off a ship/island that is based in the One Piece series. But that doesn't mean TB needs to be a One Piece / Mafia and RP forum as its not the reason why TBF came to be.

Tbh i am grateful just having TBF than the whole anime & manga side as thats what i wanted, as its not always going to meet your expectations. If you want an example since its been used a lot back on OJ the rank tags, i was the first to say how shit they was and i stuck with it. I even let Divvens know after being told they would look bad-ass, i was informed later of the reason why they had to change the proposed rank tags.

Also coming from a person that kick started many sections within OJ from the early Mafia, RP (Pre-Larsi), Tower Of God, Magi, Kingdom and Seven Deadly Sins sections. I was always informed if you want a section with recognition you must show how active it is and i dont mean by 1 person but a few who are constantly discussing and etc. That's the only way to create them, so if you want "so and so" as a section or such change then it's up to you not the staff/team members. As the staff/team members i feel grateful in creating the site.

You want a Forum Event?, maybe kick start it smaller and then have it build up interest. iirc The Coloring event that was on OJ was a small thing at first then it build up steam and interest.

1.6 More Community Events related to the featured Series

Examples back from OJ: Chapter Predictions and Coloring Events, but maybe also other contests, that just give members more choices to engage themselves more in the forum and receive more chances to join events to gain Salty Doubloons)

I've got a character color prediction thread up, has been since the site opened, in Community Events. I also have the monthly color, fan art, and GFX display showcase ready to go in Creative Corner, but when it's only 1 person showing their works it's kinda hard to have a diverse showcase. Also no one has been doing their colorings so I have absolutely no idea if a coloring competition would even generate interest here on Thriller bark.
In the wings we have a photography contest waiting on it's host to launch it. As well as a GFX contest which is also waiting on it's host to launch it.
We have Theory of the month, but since there have been no new theories for awhile it's hard to have that one go.
There was also an Overwatch tournament set up to go while the game was free but no one signed up. (Side note this was broadcasted across the site and visible when not logged in).
There is the games giveaways we have ongoing at the moment, as well as secret santa sign ups.

I will also note that community events don't have to come from only the moderators, we're open to new ideas and just ask that you send your competion/event ideas to Shion and myself first so that we can make sure there are guidelines that will be followed by participants. After approval the event/competition is yours to produce.

A LOT of the activities that you're missing from OJ are literally just because someone hasn't made the thread yet.

Don't worry, I at least ain't offended. I totally get what you mean. People were active in the One Piece thread, then it became an own section here. Same goes for MHA and also now Kingdom after people voted for it. It's because we wanted it, and we made it more active.

But the activity isn't rising anymore, it's rather quiet sometimes, rather often. I try to be active but motivation is lacking when there is not much of a response. Hence this thread to propose ideas and inform people that we need a bit more activity.

Oh, that sucks. I personally just suck at those kinda games. I saw it but had to decline ._. I thought you guys actually played or something.

Of course but like said before already, at least two people suggested new games but they were sort of handled... in a disappointing way. Please promote such ideas more visibly so people notice them!

Totally agree here.
I mean its even possible to create fun events in the forum game section like the Apple Island Tournament I put in there.
It got quite fast green light for 'theory event' which is only on break due low activity in theory section.


So if someone want more events then he or she should create events either on your own or if you want cool prices you can't give on your own ask mod to approve.

Dont think your suggestions or activity goes unnoticed, if you want a section just make sure its not just only you but at least say 10 minimum and just discuss and have the thread pique in interest

All that had to be done was upload your art, coloring or GFX in the creative corner.

We have only been live for 5 months, and a lot of the events I put out have been live this whole time, I haven't been getting feedback so I just thought the artists didn't follow over.

I would like to see competive medals for Community Events, Theory section and Creativity Corner.

And maybe a few special medals for active, quality discussion or for being a very helpful member.

Which most likely only missing in the frontpage because it was once Part of the creativity corner. But like they didn't uodate the Manga/Anime link so that visitors will realize there is a OP and MHA section they also forgot to add the theory section.

Finally found time to read the opening post.

1 More One Piece visibility

The OP visibility is already there with OP RP section. And calling this forum after a OP Shop while OP RP is one of the main parts of the forum is reasonable.

1.1 Add One Piece (and the other featured manga like MHA and Kingdom) on the front page

I see no real need for this. But changing the link from "Anime & Manga" to "Series Gallery" is necessary.

1.2 Put One Piece (or better, the whole Manga and Anime section) above the Mafia and Roleplay Section

This is going to far and would undergo for what this forum was actually created for.

1.3 Bring the Fanclubs to their respective sections as subforum

Just would cause confusion. But pull them out of the "Chitchat" and directly put FCs and Groups as Miscellnaous subforum would be nice.

1.5 Move the Theories into the Manga section

This is actually a great idea! @Larsi @Shion would you plz move Theories from "Entertainment" to "Series Gallery"

1.6 More Community Events related to the featured Series

As mentioned before you have to create these events in your own or try to find others and mods will definetly support you.

2.1 Add more Manga and Anime threads

You can create these on your own. If you look them up you will find out fast not all of these threads are created by the mods.

2.2 Add more Favorite XY and Daily Posting/Sp

2.3 Add a Shitposting Thread

I think you can create also both in your own.

3.1 More broadcasts

Too much Broadcast can become annoying. Should be only used for important things. Smaller things can be announced through alert system.

3.2 Less Post Deletion

Never heard about unreasonable post deletion.

3.3 Update the Mod-Team

Especially in the beginning of a new Forum the Staff Team has to be active and Push threads. Also reddit and discord advertisement would be nice.

As I said, I and maybe other people didn't quite notice that those events are even a thing. Maybe it would be good to have a monthly overview of the events in total and also their results so people know what's actually going on or is possible to take part in on this forum.

Yeah of course we do have One Piece Roleplay, but if it is already in Roleplay, why not promote One Piece more in general?

Why would it cause confusion? To see we have fanclubs in their respective sections? When it is about One Piece or other characters it should gain visibility where it belongs to, and not just "somewhere". I could see though having the Series Gallery (if the name would be changed to Anime and Manga Section) receiving a subforum with the Fanclubs, and the Entertainment Section the Groups that are unrelated to Anime/Manga.

Okay, you left out the "1.4 Undo the No-Shipping Rule", why-so-ever. No opinion on it? I think the rule is unnecessary and would bring new options and discussion material if it is being kept in an own Fanclub or only in the Fanclub Section.

Yeah. They are not much visible though they are related to Anime/Manga. So moving them to the topics they belong would be better.

Of course, but I mentioned now two times that there were also Game suggestions which were not handled correctly in my opinion. And I have now heard that there are events which just aren't as visible and I would like all running events more supported.

Alert system is fine as well! Good idea. I forgot that was possible since it wasn't used as much here.

Me neither but I heard it from other people so I just want to make aware that the mods shouldn't be too serious about having one or two off-topic posts or enjoying a good discussion even if there's less content in the posts.

I made the part bold which is important here. Make some threads more noticeable, as well as community events and contests, and join in on discussions. Mods are also members and they can push activity by taking part in discussions and events. Reddit and Discord advertisement would be of help as well!!

I see! Good to know what's going on there. I mentioned it above, one alert/broadcast a month to showcase events and their results would be an idea to put it all into one without advertising 10 different events. So people know what's happening here on the forum!

What actual ideas are you referring to? I remember only you wrote that forums are unpopular and will die out sooner or later. And this thread is about improving the site with all of us helping to make Thriller Bark a greater experience and attract new users.

That is true. I wrote in the OP that the featured series at least should be promoted on the front page. But having the Series Gallery promoted in general is a very good idea as well. The link should definitely get corrected.

So putting this subforum fits better with Miscellnaous.

But why in Miscellaneous especially? They rather do belong to the Series or not? I mean as long as they are more visible and don't end up being a subsubforum as you call it, it should be alright, whether it is in Miscellaneous or the Series Gallery/Manga and Anime Section.

I am not interested in powerlevel discussions either but those are definitely more toxic than shipping. But for those people interested in Shipping there should be a space to do it, even if it is one general Shipping/Crack Ship Club where it is allowed only.

I have like half of the people in this thread on ignore I feel, so I dont know what this is about.
But shipping is kinda childish and its nothing else than "playing around".

I wouldnt mind giving bitches a general shipping thread but ya'll ****as should know that this is is not something to discuss while there are other quality topics open.

Like increasing the mafia games quality by enforcing activity (which means mods shouldnt play just for the sake, but also push games activity and motivations). Alot of ya guys are multitabbing and signing up for the sake of it. Many inactives. A wishy washy calender that skips games. Too many people wanting to host and this leads to people trying to get sign ups filled asap for the sake of it.
In all other communities I have visitted, mafia players in general are a bit more patient and this reflects in their game and their motivations to play a game and be active or sub out at the right in time.
All in all I love playing here but sometimes there is pressure and rush and uncarefulness and this can break a game, a sign up or players.

Generally better quality = less bad blood between members, more respect towards eash other.
Less pussying. More hearing out eash other to add.
